Leon Hubble won the Sprint Car race at the Jungle Park Speedway,Rockville, IN.
Ted Horn , driving the Horn #1, won the 30 lap AAA Eastern Sprint Car race on the 1/2 mile dirt Dover Speedway in Dover, NJ.
Ted Duncan , in front of 26,420 fans, won the 25 lap Chicago Auto Racing Association Midget race over Sam Hanks and Paul Russo at the Soldier Field in Chicago, IL.
Tommy Hinnershitz won the AAA Midwest Sprint Car race at the Salem Speedway, Salem, IN.
Bobby Grim won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Faribault Fairgrounds, Faribault,MN.
Gene Hartley won the USAC Midget race over Bud Tinglstadt, Johnny Tolan, Norm Hall and A.J. Foyt at the Indianapolis Speedrome, Indianapolis,IN.
Bert Brooks won the 25-mile URC Sprint Car race, Bobby Marshman won the 25-mile ARDC Midget race and Bob Malzahn won the 100-mile NASCAR National Championship Sportsman and Modified Stock Car race at the Trenton International Speedway, Trenton,NJ. Finishing behind Brooks in the sprints were Hal Rettberg, Bobby Courtwright, Slim Brown, Bill Holland, Beau Clark, Don Allison, Red Albright, Buddy Powers and Mike San Felice. Finishing behind Marshman in the ARDC Midget race was Tony Romit followed by Len Duncan, Johnny Mann, Bob Boone, Dick Linder, Red Marlowe, Andy Furci, Bill Randall and Red Reigel. Following Malzahn in the Stock Cars were Jack Murphy, Bud Olson, Ed Lindsay, Bill Wark, Glenn Guthrie, Charlie Cregar, Al Tasnady, Ed Soden and Jimmy Metzler.
Fred Lorenzen won the Late Model Stock Car race at the O'Hare Stadium, Chicago, IL.
Lee Petty and his sons, Richard and Maurice, race against each other for the first and only time, at Birmingham, Alabama's, Dixie Speedway. Richard finished second, Lee third, and Maurice eighth.
Bob McLean won the 100 lap USAC Midget race at the Canfield Fairgrounds (1/4d) , Canfield,OH.
Shady McWhorter won the Sprint Car race at the Devil's Bowl Speedway, Dallas,TX.
Bill Johnston won the ARDC Midget race at the Freeport Speedway, Freeport, NY.
Gus Linder won the Sprint Car race over Dick Bailey, Jim Seese, Dave Lundy and Hank Jacoby at the Greater Pittsburgh Speedway, Pittsburgh,PA.
Bobby Hersh won the Super Modified race over Dick Tobias, Roger Sowers, Johnny Mackison and Leroy Felty at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA.
Jim Maguire won the URC Sprint Car race over Bill Brown, Hank Laukaitis, Earl Halaquist and Chuck Yost at the Delaware State Fairgrounds, Harrington,DE.
Ronnie Duman won the USAC Midget race at the Cloverleaf Speedway, Cleveland, OH.
Bobby Unser won the CART sanctioned Kent Oil 150 on the 2.428 Mile Watkins Glen International Road Course in Watkins Glen, New York. Rick Mears was second followed by Danny Ongais, Tom Sneva and Johnny Rutherford.
Neil Bonnett won the NASCAR Winston Cup Talladega 500 over Cale Yarborough at the Talladega Superspeedway, Talladega, AL.
