Ted Duncan , in front of 26,420 fans, won the 25 lap Chicago Auto Racing Association Midget race over Sam Hanks and Paul Russo at the Soldier Field in Chicago, IL.
Tommy Hinnershitz won the AAA Midwest Sprint Car race at the Salem Speedway, Salem, IN.

Bert Brooks won the 25-mile URC Sprint Car race, Bobby Marshman won the 25-mile ARDC Midget race and Bob Malzahn won the 100-mile NASCAR National Championship Sportsman and Modified Stock Car race at the Trenton International Speedway, Trenton,NJ. Finishing behind Brooks in the sprints were Hal Rettberg, Bobby Courtwright, Slim Brown, Bill Holland, Beau Clark, Don Allison, Red Albright, Buddy Powers and Mike San Felice. Finishing behind Marshman in the ARDC Midget race was Tony Romit followed by Len Duncan, Johnny Mann, Bob Boone, Dick Linder, Red Marlowe, Andy Furci, Bill Randall and Red Reigel. Following Malzahn in the Stock Cars were Jack Murphy, Bud Olson, Ed Lindsay, Bill Wark, Glenn Guthrie, Charlie Cregar, Al Tasnady, Ed Soden and Jimmy Metzler.
Fred Lorenzen won the Late Model Stock Car race at the O'Hare Stadium, Chicago, IL.

Lee Petty and his sons, Richard and Maurice, race against each other for the first and only time, at Birmingham, Alabama's, Dixie Speedway. Richard finished second, Lee third, and Maurice eighth.
