Bill Mackey ... Born ... AAA driver from 1949 to 1951. His name at birth was William Gretsinger, Jr. He was killed in a sprint car crash at Winchester Speedway.

Rex Mays ,in the Gilmore Special #33, won the AAA sanctioned 125 Mile 200 laps 2 Man Championship Car Race over Louis Meyer, Al Gordon, Shorty Cantlon, Fred Frame and Lou Moore on the .625 Mile Dirt Oval Legion Ascot Speedway in Alhambra, California.

Erick Rudolph won the 50-lap second annual East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals 600cc Micro Sprint feature at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ. Billy Pauch, JR. was second followed by Brett Altemose, Jim Radney, Billy Calvert, Bobby Butler, Brian Carber, Michael Carber, Alex Bright and Josh Conover.
Thomas Meseraull won the 55-lap fourth annual Junior Knepper 55 USAC Midget feature at the Southern Illinois Center in Duquoin, IL Jake Neuman was second followed by Derek Hager, Trey Marcham, Kevin Thomas Jr., Tyler Courtney, Joe B. Miller, Ronnie Gardner, Ryan Smith and Justin Grant.
