Leroy Warriner ... Died ... an American racing driver from Indianapolis who attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 every year from 1951 to 1958 without succeeding. Warriner only managed to qualify for a single Championship Car race, the September 1953 race at the Indiana State Fairgrounds where he started and finished 18th. He retired from racing in 1962 then owned the Indianapolis Speeddrome with Gene Hartley until 1977. An accomplished midget car racer, he was inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame.

Dan Shaver ..... Died ... Shaver raced in several road racing series before moving to stock cars, mostly ARCA where his best finish was ninth. In the last four years Shaver was a team owner, and he was one of the first to put Denny Hamlin and Aric Almirola in superspeedway cars.

Kyle Larson won the Winter Heat Showdown Sprint Car feature at the Cocopah Speedway. Shane Stewart was second followed by Danny Lasoski, Dale Blaney, Jason Johnson, Joey Saldana, Christopher Bell, D.J. Netto, Terry McCarl and Daryn Pittman.
Eddie Reeder won the 20-lap Slinger Warehouse 20 Slingshot feature inside the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Joe Kata III finished second followed by Cody Kline, Frank Yankowski and Danny Spellman.
Russ Gamester won the 40-lap USAC Midget race on the first night of the 18th Annual Rumble in Ft Wayne, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Fort Wayne, IN
Brady Bacon won the 55-lap 31st Annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Winged 600 Micro Shootout at the Tulsa Expo Raceway, Tulsa, OK. Chris Andrews was second followed by Ayrton Gennetten, Joe B. Miller and Cory Eliason.
Erick Rudolph won the 40-lap Ironton Telephone TQ Midget feature inside the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Ryan Flores finished second followed by Mike Lichty, Jimmy Blewett, Tim Buckwalter, Rob Neely, Anthony Sesely, Patrick Emerling, Jonathan Reid and Earl Paules.
