Art Cross... Born ... AAA driver. He was the first recipient of the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Award in 1952. He raced in 4 Indy 500 with a best finish of 2nd in 1953.
1936
Al Gordon... Died ... The 1933 AAA Pacific Coast champion and Indy 500 veteran died in a crash in what would prove to be the last race held at Legion Ascot Speedway in Los Angeles California, as the grandstands at the track burned down shortly after the race.

Jerry Nemire... Born ... USAC driver from the 1980's
1954
Dale Duncan puts out a fire in his Allard's engine compartment during the 1000 kilometer endurance race in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by urinating on it. His co-driver, Carroll Shelby, had thrown the fire extinguisher out of the car to save weight. They would finish tenth.

Pete Mourad wins the TQ Midget feature at the indoor Atlantic City Convention Hall.
1976
Johnny Coy Sr. wins the TQ Midget feature at the indoor Atlantic City Convention Hall.
1981
Jon Holmquist wins the TQ Midget feature at the indoor Atlantic City Convention Hall.
1998
Tony Stewart wins the IRL Indy 200 race at Florida's Walt Disney Orlando Speedway
1999
Eddie Cheever wins the IRL Indy 200 race at Florida's Walt Disney Orlando Speedway
2000
Robbie Buhl wins the IRL Delphi Indy 200 race at Florida's Walt Disney Orlando Speedway
