Mark Light , driving the Cracraft #20, won the 30-lap AAA Eastern Sprint Car race on the 1/2 mile dirt Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Ronnie Householder won the 25-lap CARA Midget race over Sam Hanks and Gus Klingbiel at the Soldier Field, Chicago, IL.

Eddie Haddad won the 40-lap CARA Midget race over Keith Andrews, Frank Burany, Mike O'Halloran and Johnnie Tolan before 4,615 fans at the Soldier Field, Chicago, IL.

Johnnie Parsons won the 100 lap AAA Midget race at the Blue Island (1/4p), Chicago, IL.
Clair Cotter won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Brandon Exhibition Grounds, Brandon, MT.

Dana Carter ... Born ... USAC and CART driver from the 1970's & 80's. Son of Duane Carter, brother of Pancho Carter and half brother of Johnnie Parsons Jr. Dana died on May 5th in 1983 of a heart attack after finishing second in a midget race in Indianapolis .
Gene Force won the AAA Midwest Sprint Car race at the Dayton Speedway,Dayton, OH.

Andy Linden won the USAC Sprint Car race at the Montgomery Motor Speedway, Montgomery,AL. Eddie Sachs was second followed by Don Branson and Elmer George.

Johnny White won the Little 500 Sprint Car race at the Anderson Speedway , Anderson, IN. Eddie
Cotton Farmer and Buzz Barton won the IMCA Sprint Car feature races at the Jamestown Speedway, Jamestown,ND.
Danny Oakes won the USAC Midget race at the Motor City Speedway, Detroit,MI.
Johnny Mann won the ARDC Midget race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA.

Art Bisch ... Died ... Bisch started racing midgets in 1948 before moving on to Sprint Cars in California, dominating the 1956 season, winning 10 of the 27 races. He moved up to Champ cars in 1958 and won his first race in the Rex Mays 100. Sadly his career was cut short when he crashed at the Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, Georgia and succumbed to his injuries.

Larry Dickson won the Sprint Car race over Dean Mast and Bobbie Adamson at the Debo Speedway, Steubenville,OH.
Jud Larson won the Sprint Car race over Don Elliott, Lloyd Beckman, Jerry Weld and RayLee Goodwin at the Topeka Fairgrounds, Topeka,KS.
Tommy Copp won the 100 lap USAC Midget race at the Fairgrounds Speedway, Oklahoma City, OK.
