Floyd Davis... Born ... Was the co-winner of the 1941 Indianapolis 500. Floyd Davis drove the first 72 laps of the 1941 race before being replaced by Mauri Rose, who completed the race in the lead.
Danny Sullivan... Born ... Cart driver than ran in 12 Indy 500's and won in 1985. The "spin and win" footage of his red and white Miller American spinning through 360 degrees down the south short chute (between turns one and two) at Indy after passing Mario Andretti for the lead in the race's 120th lap has been played on countless motorsports programs. Recovering from the spin undamaged except for flat-spotted tires, Sullivan went into the pits for new rubber, then returned to the track and passed Mario a second time twenty laps later to go on for the win.
A.J. Foyt won the 'California 500' USAC Indy Car race on the 2.5 mile Ontario Motor Speedway. Foyt's Gilmore Racing Foyt-Coyote was the car to beat all day, finishing 43.3 seconds ahead of Bobby Unser's Jorgensen Eagle. Steve Krisiloff finished third in the Agajanian Eagle.
