Stubby Stubblefield... Died ... AAA driver from the 1930's Ran the Indy 500 from 1931 to 1934. His best finish was 5th in 1933. He was killed in a practice crash for the 1935 Indianapolis 500.

Tommy Hinnershitz ,in the Gerber #14, won the AAA sanctioned 40 lap Champ Car Race over Joie Chitwood, Bill Holland, Walt Brown, Buster Warke, Dan Goss and Henry Rogers on the 1/2 Mile Dirt Oval Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Danny Ongais... Born ... A former racecar driver from the United States. Born in Kahului, Maui Island, Hawaii, he is the only native Hawaiian to compete at the Indianapolis 500. A motorcycle, sports car, Formula One, and drag racing competitor, in 1963 and 1964 Ongais won the American Hot Rod Association AA Gas Dragster Championship and in 1965 he added the National Hot Rod Association AA Dragster championship title. A flamboyant figure on the racing circuit, Danny's nickname was "On-Gas" for his 'balls to the wall' driving style. He was also known as the "Flyin'-Hawaiian". He ran in 11 Indy 500's with a best finish of 4th in 1979. In 1981 he had a horrible accident in Indy 500, which almost cost his life. Several arm and leg breaks as well as internal injuries were the result. In 1996 at the age of 54, Ongais agreed to be the substitute driver for Scott Brayton in the Indy 500 who had died in a practice crash shortly before the race. Starting last, Danny finished 7th in what was his final 500.
