1932
Bill Cummings won the AAA sanctioned Oakland 150 on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval Oakland Speedway in San Leandro, California. Bob Carey was second followed by Ernie Triplett, Mauri Rose and Wilbur Shaw.

Tony Bettenhausen won the AAA Midget race at the Balboa Stadium,San Diego, CA.

1965
A.J. Foyt won the USAC Sprint Car race over Roger McCluskey at the Ascot Park Speedway, Gardena,CA.

1966
Dick Atkins... Died ... One of the best sprint car drivers of his era and was just begining to shine in the USAC Championships when he was killed at Ascot Park when Don Branson's car bounced off the wall back into his path. Branson died instantly and Atkins passed away the next day from what at first were believed to be burns. However an autosy revealed that the cause of death was a fractured skull.
A.J. Foyt won the USAC Sprint Car race over Bobby Unser, Al Smith, Roger McCluskey and Don Thomas at the Altamont Raceway Park, Tracy, CA.
Mel Kenyon won the USAC Midget race at the Ascot Park Speedway (1/4d), Gardena,CA.

Bob East won the USAC Sprint Car race over Bobby Marshall, Pancho Carter, Jimmy Oskie and Clark Templeman at the Ascot Park Speedway, Gardena,CA.

Richie Yetter won the Sportsman Stock Car race at the Nazareth Raceway, Nazareth, PA. Carl Reynolds was second followed by Brett Hearn, Ray Swinehart, Henry Urbin, Junior Siegfried, Archie Myers, Randy Bok, John Pisciotta, Clark Fox and Andy Belmont.

Lealand McSpadden and Sammy Swindell each won the winged Sprint Car feature races at the Devil's Bowl Speedway, Dallas,TX.
Sleepy Tripp won the USAC Midget race at the Tucson Raceway Park, Tucson,AZ. Kevin Olson was second followed by Rickey Hood, Rich Vogler and Robby Flock.

Mark Martin won the NASCAR Winston Cup Hooters 500 over Dale Earnhardt at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, GA.

Larry Shinoda ... Died ... He died of a heart attack at his home in Novi, Michigan. Shinoda is best known for designing the bodies on the '63 Stingray and '70 Mustang Boss 302, he also designed the 1956 Indy 500 winning John Zink Special and Jim Hall’s Chaparral 2C & 2D.

Steve Kinserwon the 30-lap Lucas Oil ASCS presented by K&N Filters National Sprint Car race at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, NM. Jason Johnson was second followed by Jack Dover, Danny Lasoski and Gary Wright.
Bud Kaeding won the 30-lap USAC AMSOIL National/CRA Sprint Car race at the Thunderbowl Raceway, Tulare, CA. Levi Jones was second followed by Tracy Hines, Justin Grant and Matt Mitchell. Tracy Hineswon the 30-lap USAC Mopar National/Western Midget Series race over Jerry Coons Jr, Bryan Clauson, Alex Schutte and Brad Kuhn.
Chad Layton won the 30-lap 410 Sprint Car race at the Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown, PA. Daryn Pittman finished second followed by Don Kreitz Jr, Greg Hodnett and Fred Rahmer.
