Jimmy Wilburn... Born ... He won a non-points Championship Car race at Lakewood Speedway in March of 1946 which is the first known Champ Car race to be held after the end of World War II. Later that year he drove in the 1946 Indianapolis 500 driving an Alfa Romeo and started 16th and retired after 52 laps with engine trouble, credited with the 19th finishing position. He was inducted in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1994
Ottis Stine... Born ... Otis was a Pennsylvania Sprint Car driver who was a founder member of the York County Racing Club in 1979. He drove his first race in 1934. His main claim to fame is that he was the first ever driver to turn a racing lap of the legendary Williams Grove speedway in 1934. He attempted to run at Indy in 1952 in a Scopa-Offenhauser, but failed to qualify. Stine once finished second in the AAA points and when he retired in 1954, he held numerous track records.
Gaston Chevrolet... Died ... He was the younger brother of famous automobile designer and racer Louis Chevrolet, was killed during a race at the Los Angeles Speedway board track in Beverly Hills, California.
Ronney Householder won the Turkey Night Grand Prix 150 AAA Midget race over Sam Hanks, Lou Schneider, Karl Young and Mel Hansen at the Gilmore Stadium,Hollywood, CA.
Bill Vukovich won the Turkey Night Grand Prix 150 AAA Midget race over Walt Faulkner, Karl Young, Allen Heath and Bill Zaring at the Gilmore Stadium,Hollywood, CA.
Johnny Pouelson won the CRA Sprint Car race at the Ascot Park Speedway, Gardena, CA.
Cotton Owen won the 100 Mile NASCAR Grand National race Buck Baker was second followed by Speedy Thompson and Lee Petty at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, Rochester, NY.
Elton Hildreth won the 25-lap Modified race. Frankie Schneider was second followed by Henry Doerr, Larry Voss and Bill Wilson at the Vineland Speedway, Vineland, NJ.
Bobbie Adamson, in the # 35 Hawthorne Chevy, won the Pacific Coast Open Super Sprint Car race at the Ascot Park Speedway , Gardena, CA. Bud Gilbert was second followed by Frank Secrist, Jack Clegg and Bobby Hogle.
Billy Engelhart won the Turkey Night Grand Prix USAC Midget race over Billy Vukovich, Mel Kenyon, Gary Bettenhausen and Pancho Carter at the Ascot Park Speedway (1/2d) , Gardena, CA.
Cecil "Sam" Sommers won the 200-lap Late Model Sportsman race over Joe Lane, Don Miller, Bill Butt and Earl Arnold at the Myrtle Beach Speedway, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Bubby Jones won the Turkey Night Grand Prix USAC Midget race over Mike Shaw, Lealand McSpadden, Tom Bigelow and Steve Troxell at the Ascot Park Speedway (1/2d) , Gardena, CA.
Sammy Swindell won the Sprint Car race at the Riverside Speedway, West Memphis,AR. Dick Gaines was second followed by Tom Corbin, Buck Robertson and Ron Milton.
Walt Ader... Died ... AAA driver from the 1930's to the early 1950's.
Ron Shuman won the Turkey Night Grand Prix USAC Midget race over Jeff Heywood, Hank Butcher, Ken Nichols and Stan Fox at the Ascot Park Speedway (1/2d) , Gardena, CA.
Dave Strickland, Jr. won the USAC Midget race over Sleepy Tripp, Jeff Gordon, Stan Fox and Ron Hughes Jr at the Imperial Valley Speedway, El Centro,CA.
Billy Vukovich III... Died ... He was a three time starter of the Indianapolis 500. The grandson of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bill Vukovich and the son of Bill Vukovich II, Vukovich III was the 1988 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year. Billy was killed in a sprint car race at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, California, in 1990. His grandfather was killed while leading the 1955 Indianapolis 500..

Tim Kaeding won the NARC Sprint Car race at the Bakersfield Speedway,Bakersfield,CA. Jason Statler was second followed by Brent Kaeding, Kevin Pylant and Randy Tiner.

Richard Griffin won the SCRA Sprint Car race at the Manzanita Speedway (1/2d) , Phoenix, AZ. Kevin Doty was second followed by Charles Davis Jr, Troy Cline and Dave Darland.
Bryan Clauson won the Turkey Night Grand Prix USAC Midget race over Caleb Armstrong, Dalton Armstrong, Kyle Hamilton, Bobby East, Dakoda Armstrong, Jason Leffler, Bobby Santos III, Josn Wise and Chad Nichols at the Toyota Speedway ,Irwindale, CA. It was the 70th running of the prestigious midget event which dates to 1934 at the Gilmore Stadium in Los Angeles.
