Troy Ruttman won the AAA Sprint Car race at the Dayton Speedway, Dayton, OH.
Bob Sweikert won the AAA sanctioned Syracuse 100 on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval New York State Fairgrounds, Syracuse, New York. Don Freeland was second followed by Johnnie Tolan, Jimmy Bryan and Ed Elisian.
Shorty Templeman won the AAA Midget race at the Indianapolis Speedrome, Indianapolis,IN.
Mickey McCormick won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Hutchinson Fairgrounds, Hutchinson,MN.
Don Branson won the USAC Sprint Car race at the New Bremen Speedway, New Bremen,OH. Jim Hurtubise was second followed by A.J. Foyt, Roger McCluskey and Elmer George.
Pete Folse won the IMCA Sprint Car race over Buzz Barton, A.J. Shepherd, Herschel Wagner and Bill Sullivan at the Topeka Fairgrounds, Topeka,KS.
Bob Myers won the Super Modified race at the Lincoln Speedway, New Oxford, PA. Bobby Ballentine finished second followed by Bobby Abel, Irvin King and Bobby Gerhart.
Bill Puterbaugh won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Topeka Fairgrounds, Topeka,KS.
Johnny Herrera ... Born ... Best known for racing in the World of Outlaws sprint car racing series. In 1986 Johnny was named World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year. Herrera's career in the World of Outlaws has lasted twenty two years. Johnny has several feature event wins with the World of Outlaws as well as wins in USAC and ASCoC competitions.
Joe Saldana won the Hoosier Hundred USAC Silver Crown race at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, IN. A.J. Foyt was second followed by Sheldon Kinser, Billy Cassella, Jim Hurtubise, Johnny Parsons, Larry Rice, Jerry Miller, Steve Chassey and James McElreath.
