Lee Kunzman won the 75-lap USAC indoor midget race at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum ,Fort Wayne, IN. Sonny Ates was second followed by Mel Kenyon, Tom Steiner and Roger West.
Tony Romit, (driving the Wherle roadster) won the Can-Am TQ Midget race on the 1/10 mile indoor War Memorial Auditorium track in Utica, NY. Rick Meyer of Indianapolis was second followed by Bill Levic of Cleveland, Paul Weisel, Duke Pavlick, Vic Novell, Bob Metzger, Bruce Bolitsky and Bob Cicconi. Romit, the 1971 ATQMRA champion, made his victory look easy in his gasoline powered 47 cubic inch Crosley. Romit and three other ATQMRA drivers spotted the sanctioning Can-Am TQ drivers some 13 cubic inches and alcohol fuel.
Donny Schatz picked up a $20,000 victory with the World Series Sprint Car race at the Brisbane International Speedway, Brisbane, Australia. Brooke Tatnell was second followed by Garry Brazier, Max Dumesny and Danny Smith.
Kyle Larson won the opening night Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals feature at the Tulsa Expo Raceway, Tulsa, OK. Brad Sweet finished second followed by Tyler Courtney,Ton Harris, Logan Seavey, Giovanni Scelzi, Jake Neuman, Brad Loyet, Scott Evans, Justin Peck and Alex Bright.
Cannon McIntosh won the Cummins Qualifying First Night preliminary feature even at the 37th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals at the Tulsa Expo Raceway under the massive roof of the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Okla. Shane Golobic finished second to transfer into Saturday’s A-Feature. Chris Windom was third, followed by Trey Marcham, Chase Briscoe, Gavan Boschele, Ryan Timms, Kyle Spence, Jacob Denny and Daniel Adler.
Michael "Buddy" Kofoid won the 30-lap Warren CAT Qualifying second night feature during the 38th annual Chili Bowl Nationals powered by NOS Energy at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Okla.. Hank Davis finished second followed by Chase McDermand, David Gravel, Kameron Key, Thomas Meseraull, Landon Brooks, Kevin Thomas Jr, Zach Daum and Jake Bubak.
