Manny Ayulo... Born ... AAA driver from the 1940's and 50's. His efforts, along with those of friend and teammate Jack McGrath, helped establish track roadsters as viable Indy race cars. He ran the Indianapolis 500 five times and was killed in a crash while practicing for the 1955 Indianapolis 500.

Ted Duncan, driving the Johnny Pawl Offy , won the 50 lap Midget feature race over Ralph Pratt and Joe Garson at the Soldier Field, Chicago, IL.

Bobby Grim won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, Shreveport, LA.
Tommy Hinnershitz won the AAA Eastern Sprint Car race at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC.
Art Cross won the AAA Midget race at the Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford,CT.

Rodger Ward won the USAC sanctioned Golden State 100 on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval California State Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California. Jimmy Bryan was second followed by Jud Larson, George Amick and Billy Garrett.
Don Carr won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, Shreveport,LA.
Van Johnson won the USAC Eastern Sprint Car race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA.

Gerald Chamberlain won the Super Modified race at the Winchester Speedway, Winchester,VA. George Weaver was second followed by Irvin King, Red Nininger and Buddy Armel.

Jerry Blundy won the 100 lap CRA Sprint Car race at the California State Fairgrounds (1.0d) , Sacramento, CA. Bobby Hogle was second followed by Johnny Anderson, Wayne Weiler and Dick Fries.
Todd Gibson won the Supermodified race over Bentley Warren and Nolan Swift at the Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford Springs,CT.
Bobbie Adamson, in the #35 Hawthorne Chevy, won the Super Sprint Car race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA. Ray Tilley was second followed by J.D. Leas, Lynn Paxton and Bobby Allen.

2006
Ted Johnson ... Died ... He briefly drove a midget in his early years before settling into a career as a china salesman, never could shake the racing bug and in 1978 he unveiled the World of Outlaws, a collection of the biggest names in sprint car racing that traveled around the country trying to swipe purses from local competitors. The series drew huge crowds, attracted national television audiences and major sponsorship all while competing nearly 100 times a year with Johnson calling the shots every step of the way. Ted Johnson lost his battle with cancer at the age of 72.
