Harlan Fengler won the AAA sanctioned Kansas City Race 2 on the 1.25 Mile Board Oval Kansas City Speedway in Kansas City, Missouri. Fengler (driving George Wade's #12 Miller), led 19 laps of the 200-lap AAA Championship Car Series race. Eddie Hearne finished second in Cliff Durant's #6 Miller, with Jimmy Murphy in Cliff Durant's #15 Miller, Jerry Wonderlich and relief driver Harry Hartz in Cliff Durant's #8 Miller, and Bennett Hill in the Duesenberg Brothers' #5 Duesenberg, rounding out the top five. It was the first of two Championship Car victories for the 20-year-old Fengler. He would later become as well known for his career in USAC and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he served as the chief steward from 1958 to 1973. Tommy Milton would lead 181 laps of the event, falling out due to oil problems.
Tony Bettenhausen won the AAA sanctioned San José 100 on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval San José Speedway in San José, California. Paul Russo was second followed by Henry Banks, Jack McGrath and Jimmy Davies.
Frankie Luptow won the IMCA Sprint Car race at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, Shreveport, LA.
Jimmy Bryan won the Ted Horn Memorial AAA Eastern Sprint Car race at the Williams Grove Speedway (1/2d) , Mechanicsburg, PA
Jud Larson won the USAC sanctioned Golden State 100 on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval California State Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California. Don Freeland was second followed by Jimmy Bryan, Bob Veith and Elmer George.
Van Johnson won the USAC Eastern Sprint Car race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA.
Parnelli Jones won the 40-lap USAC Midget race at the Altamont Raceway Park, Tracy, CA. Jones was driving Oliver Johnson's #96. Mel Kenyon finished second in his #1, with Mike McGreevy, Bill Vukovich, Jr. and Bob Tattersall, rounding out the top five.
Mel Kenyon won the USAC Midget race over Don Meacham, Chuck Arnold, Tommy Copp and Mike McGreevy at the Kearney Bowl, Fresno,CA.
Steve Krisiloff won the 25 Mile Super Modified race at the Trenton International Speedway (1.0p), Trenton, NJ. Ted Wise finished second followed by Mark Letcher, Karl Busson and Jim Gresley.
