1927
Chuck Hulse ... Born ... USAC Sprint & Indy Car driver from the 1950's and 1960's . Hulse raced in the USAC Championship Car series in the 1959-1964 and 1966-1968 seasons, with 60 career starts, including the Indianapolis 500 races in 1962, 1963, 1966 and 1967. He finished in the top ten 26 times, with his best finish in 2nd position in 1963 at Phoenix and 1966 at Sacramento. Hulse stopped driving for 2 years in 1964-1966 due to vision problems caused in a sprint car accident in New Bremen, Ohio.

Bobby Unser won the Joe James/Pat O'Connor Memorial USAC Sprint Car race at the Salem Speedway , Salem,IN. Mario Andretti finished second followed by Al Smith, Arnie Knepper and Bud Randall.
Jerry Poland won the Sprint Car race at the Eldora Speedway, Rossburg,OH.
Ted Wise won the 150 lap Sprint Car race at the Heidelberg Speedway (1/2p) , Pittsburgh, PA. Bobbie Adamson was second followed by Darl Harrison, Benny Rapp and Del Schmidlin.
Joe Saldana won the Sprint Car race at the Midwest Speedway, Lincoln,NE.
Gus Linder won the Super Modified race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA. Lynn Paxton was second followed by Rick Schmelyun, Leroy Felty and Milford Wales.
Larry Dickson won the ARDC Midget race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA.

Al Unser won the USAC sanctioned Trenton 300 on the 1.5 Mile Paved Oval Trenton International Speedway in Trenton, NJ. Bobby Unser was second followed by Mike Mosley, Johnny Rutherford and Roger McCluskey.
Chuck Allen won the CRA Sprint Car race over Dick Zimmerman, Marty Kinerk, Steve Chassey and Stan McElrath at the Ascot Park Speedway, Gardena,CA.
Bob Tattersall won the USAC Midget race over Bubby Jones at the Bloomington Speedway, Bloomington,IN.

Bobby Unser won the USAC sanctioned Trenton 300 on the 1.5 Mile Paved Oval Trenton International Speedway in Trenton, NJ. Mario Andretti was second followed by Joe Leonard, Billy Vukovich, Jr and A.J. Foyt.
Jim Linder won the URC Sprint Car race over Rich Bonnell, Lou Blaney, Buck Buckley and Wayne Woodward at the Sharon Speedway, Hartford,OH.
Rollie Beale won the 50-lap Joe James-Pat O'Connor Memorial USAC Sprint Car race over Don Nordhorn, Darl Harrison, Charlie Masters, Sonny Ates, Ralph Liguori and Jim Malloy at the Salem Speedway, Salem,IN.
Armond Holley won the Supermodified race over Jack Conely, Leon Wieseke, Norm Mackereth and Nolan Johncock at the Sandusky Speedway, Sandusky, OH. The 100-lap race was called after 95 laps when a multi-car accident fatally injured racer Nolan Johncock. Johncock was running second at the time of the accident.
Nolan Johncock ... Died ... Johncock of Hastings Mich., died in a multi-car accident during a Supermodified race at the Sandusky Speedway in Sandusky Ohio. Nolan was a veteran racer of over 22 years and was a cousin of USAC and Indy Car driver Gordon Johncock.

Bruce Gould won Earl Baltes' first annual World 100-lap Late Model Dirt Track Championship race over Joe Ruttman, George Branscomb, Paul Wooldridge and Joe Greenslate at the Eldora Speedway, Rossburg, OH.
Red Farmer won the Sportsman Late Model race at the Fairground Speedway, Nashville, TN. L.O. Ottinger was second followed by Jack Ingram and Rhea Greenwell.
Dennis Miles won the ASA "Dri-Powr 400" Late Model race at the Winchester Speedway, Winchester, IN. L.O. Ottinger was second followed by Jack Ingram and Rhea Greenwell.
Jim Landry won the Super Modified race at the Star Speedway, Epping, NH. Whitey Hoyt was second followed by Paul Richardson, Eddie Skofield and Billy Murphy.
Bobby Brack won the Modified race over Charlie Ragan at the Palm Beach Fairgrounds, West Palm Beach, FL.
