Chuck Allen won the CRA Sprint Car race at the Ascot Park Speedway, Gardena,CA. Paul Jones was second followed by Bruce Walkup, Dick Fries and Billy Wilkerson.
Bob Bishop won the Sprint Car race at the Manzanita Speedway, Phoenix, AZ.
Jerry Weld won the Sprint Car race at the Topeka Fairgrounds, Topeka, KS. Jerry Blundy was second followed by Al Murie, Joe Saldana and Billy Covert.
Jan Opperman won the Western World Sprint Car race at the Manzanita Speedway , Phoenix, AZ. The event was marred when veteran driver Jimmy Cox was fatally injured in a consolation race. Cox , 42, a 20-year veteran from San Diego that came out of a 1-year retirement, died in a two car mishap that also caused serious arm injuries to Dub May.
Ralph Parkinson Jr won IMCA Sprint Car race at the State Fair of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, OK.
Tony Hirschman won the Modified feature at the Wall Stadium, Belmar, NJ. Mark Engle was second followed by Ray Evernham, Eddie Bohn, Lenny Boyd, Tom Comerford, Tony Siscone, Ed Brunnhoelzl, Tom Mauser and Tom Baldwin. Bob Cramer won the Sportsman race.
George Kent won the Modified race and Doug Heveron won the Super Modified race at the Oswego Speedway in Oswego, NY. ( Click here for the race report. )
