1905
Guy Vaughn won the AAA sanctioned Syracuse Race on the 1 Mile Dirt Oval New York State Fairgrounds, Syracuse, New York. Dan Wurgis was second followed by Maurice Bernin.

1915
Eddie Rickenbacker won the 100 Mile AAA sanctioned Providence Race 3 on the 1 Mile Concrete Oval Narragansett Park, Cranston, Rhode Island. Bob Burman was second followed by Willie Haupt, Ralph DePalma and Pete Henderson.

1918
Johnny Mantz ... Born ... AAA / USAC and NASCAR driver from the 1940's and 50's. He made 17 starts in the AAA Championship Car series from 1948 to 1952, capturing a victory in his rookie season at the Milwaukee Mile as well as winning the Indianapolis Sweepstakes at Williams Grove Speedway. He was the first USAC Stock Car national champ in 1956. Mantz also made 12 NASCAR Grand National starts from 1950-1951 and 1955-1956. He won his third race, the first Southern 500 held at Darlington Raceway using truck tires which did not wear while his competitors had to stop and pit for new tires. It was his only NASCAR win.

Billy Foster... Born ... The first Canadian to ever race in the Indianapolis 500. He was the 1965 USAC Rookie of the Year, and died in a crash while practicing for the 'Motor Trend 500' NASCAR GN race at Riverside International Raceway January 20, 1967.

Jimmy Gibbons won the AAA Eastern Sprint Car race at the Tioga Motorsports Park, Owego, NY.
Troy Ruttman won the AAA Sprint Car race at the Winchester Speedway, Winchester, IN.

Jimmy Bryan won the Hoosier Hundred AAA Champ Car race at the 1 Mile Dirt Oval Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, Indiana. Bob Sweikert was second followed by Sam Hanks, Jack McGrath and Jimmy Reece.

In the TQ Midget feature Timex Morgan won over Cam Barber, Dave Wollaber, Bobby Holmes and Andy Jankowiak. The Sportsman feature went to Andy Jankowiak over Bobby Holmes, Buck Catalano, Tony Hanbury and Tom McGrath.
Scott Bloomquist won the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series USA 100 at the Virginia Motor Speedway, Jamaica, VA. Steve Francis was second followed by Mike Marlar, Jimmy Owens and Jamie Lathroum.
John Lobb won the Super Late Model race and Max Blair won the FASTRAK Late Model race at the Eriez Speedway, Hammet. PA.
Todd Geist won the Sport Modified race at the Mountain Speedway, St. Johns, PA. Other winners were Elliot Wohl in the Street Stocks, Travis Fisher in Late Models, Rich Paciotti in Factory Stocks and Matt Papa in the INEX Legends Cars.
Scott Dixon won the IZOD IndyCar Series race at the Twin Ring Motegi in Motegi, Japan. Will Power was second followed by Marco Andretti, Alex Tagliani and Oriol Servia.
Tracy Hines won the Rich Vogler Classic for USAC Pavement Sprint Cars at the Winchester Speedway, Winchester, IN. Bobby East finished second followed by Chris Windom, Kody Swanson and Kyle Larson.
