Nick Valenta won the CRA Sprint Car race at the South Mountain Speedway, Phoenix, AZ.
Len Duncan won the ARDC Midget race at the Hatfield Speedway, Hatfield,PA.
Jack Jordan won the IMCA Sprint Car race over Johnny Pouelson, Buzz Barton, Mickey McCormick, Harry Ross and Lloyd Ruby at the Kansas State Fairgrounds,Hutchinson, KS.
Billy Wilkerson won the CRA Sprint Car race over Jay East, Jimmy Oskie, George Farmer and Colby Scroggin at the Irwindale Speedway, Irwindale,CA.
Johnny Coy won the ARDC Midget race at the Wall Township Speedway, Belmar,NJ.
Bobbie Adamson, in the Al Hamilton # 77, won the Super Sprint Car race at the Selinsgrove Speedway, Selinsgrove,PA. Mitch Smith was second followed by Ray Tilley, Lee Osborne and Mike Lloyd.
Bobby Allen won the Super Sprint Car race at the Lincoln Speedway, Hanover,PA. Gus Linder was second followed by Ed Zirkle, Rick Schmelyun and Kenny Weld.
Jim Kirk won the ARDC Midget race over Pancho Carter, Johnny Hubbard, Tommy McAndrew and Earl Halaquist at the Grandview Speedway, Bechtelsville,PA.
Jimmy Caruthers won the USAC Midget race at the Tri-City Speedway (1/2d), Granite City,IL.
Lynn Paxton won the Super Sprint Car race at the Williams Grove Speedway, Williams Grove,PA. Gus Linder was second followed by Smokey Snellbaker, Bobby Allen and Leroy Felty.
Smokey Snellbaker won the Super Sprint Car race at the Hagerstown Speedway, Hagerstown,MD. Irvin King was second followed by Kenny Weld, Bobby Allen and Hal Browning.
Neil Bonnett wins the NASCAR Winston Cup CRC Chemicals 500 over Darrell Waltrip at the Dover International Speedway , Dover, DE. ( Click here for the race report. )
Kenny Brightbill was the over all winner of the "Run What Ya Brung" Shoot Out 81 at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Malta, NY. The 3-50 lap format races were won by Jimmy Horton, Kenny Brightbill and Billy Pauch. Billy Pauch came in second in the final point standings followed by Paul Lotier, Don Kreitz, Roger Laureno, Tommy Corellis, Eddie Delmolino, Gary Gollub, Dave Kelly and Jimmy Horton. Brightbill collected $10,000 for the win.
