Bill Schindler... Died ... East Coast midget, sprint and Indy car driver. Raced with only one leg after a crash in 1936, but died in an AAA sprint car race at Allentown PA.

Smokey Snellbaker won the Super Sprint Car race at the Hagerstown Speedway, Hagerstown,MD. Irvin King was second followed by Kenny Weld, Bobby Allen and Hal Browning.

Kenny Brightbill was the over all winner of the "Run What Ya Brung" Shoot Out 81 at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Malta, NY. The 3-50 lap format races were won by Jimmy Horton, Kenny Brightbill and Billy Pauch. Billy Pauch came in second in the final point standings followed by Paul Lotier, Don Kreitz, Roger Laureno, Tommy Corellis, Eddie Delmolino, Gary Gollub, Dave Kelly and Jimmy Horton. Brightbill collected $10,000 for the win.
