LUKE THOMAS GRABS THE CHECKERED FLAG AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
ByLuke Thomas
Swedesboro, NJ (April 21, 2012) – On Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile oval, Luke Thomas grabbed the checkered flag in the 600cc Micro-Sprint feature. Charlie Lamanna scored the win in the 270cc Micro-Sprint race. For the second week in a row, Warren Stradley was victorious in the 4-Cylinder Enduro Car contest.
At the start of the 20-lap main event for the 600cc Micro-Sprints, Luke Thomas zipped to the front over Bill Thomas, Lee Nardelli, and Jay Hartman. Following a caution and restart on the second tour, the top two remained in order with Hartman motoring into third. At the halfway mark, the top three were in heavy traffic and Bill Thomas was able to close in on the leader. On lap 12, an apparent pass by Bill Thomas for the lead was eliminated by a yellow flag for an Andrew Locuson spin. When action got back underway, Luke Thomas took advantage of a clear track and began to run away from the field. With five laps to go, Luke Thomas had a comfortable lead over his rivals. As the checkered flag waved, it was Luke Thomas in front for his third career win at Bridgeport Speedway. Second place was taken by Bill Thomas. Third went to Hartman. A late rush by Richie Keller resulted in a fourth place finish. Sam Locuson wound up in fifth. Tim Iulg, Andrew Locuson, Jay Hartman, and Stephen Kemery won the 600cc Micro-Sprint qualifying events. The consolation event went to Tom Fraschetta.
