GRANT LARCENY IN PENNSYLVANIA MIDGET WEEK OPENER AT SUSKY!

York Haven, Pennsylvania....August 13, 2017 - The old saying goes, "sometimes you'd rather be lucky than good." That's true to an extent, but the fact of the matter is that one must first put themselves in a position for good fortune to fall their way.

Justin Grant was in that position on the final lap of Sunday night's "Pennsylvania Midget Week" opener at Susquehanna Speedway when he passed not one, but two of Keith Kunz's bunch, to win from third on the final corner of the last lap to score his second USAC Midget National Championship victory of the season aboard the Clauson-Marshall Racing/Driven 2 Save Lives - Priority Aviation/Spike/Stanton SR-11.
In fact, with just five laps remaining, Grant was running a mere fifth behind Tanner Thorson, Spencer Bayston, Brady Bacon and teammate Shane Golobic. Grant took advantage of fortuitous opportunities to the front, getting by Golobic with four to go, then advancing another spot to third when third-running Bacon slowed to a stop with a broken U-Joint with two laps remaining. Bacon had been the dominant driver throughout the mid-portion of the 30-lap feature, leading the ensuing 17 laps after snaring the lead from Thorson on lap six and held a nearly two second advantage with 13 laps remaining.
The race appeared it would be settled between reigning series champ Thorson and current point leader Spencer Bayston on the first attempt at a green-white-checkered while Grant lurked in third. As soon as the green flag dropped, Thorson got a solid jump while Grant put a move underneath Bayston for second, which would prove to be a harbinger of things to come.
Yet, the car of 15th running Jim Radney stalled on the front straightaway, negating the start and moved everyone back into single-file order for a second attempt with Thorson, Bayston and Grant running one-two-three at the head of the class.
Though Grant was able to pull even with Bayston during the initial restart, he admits he bobbled pretty bad off the second turn. He knew if he had one more shot, if he could hit it right, it was going to work out pretty well for him.
Right off the bat, Bayston put his own plan into fruition, sliding Thorson for the lead in turn one on lap 29. Thorson attempted to counter with a run into turn three to no avail as Bayston used the momentum from the high line to remain in front with the white flag in the air.
"On restarts like that, the guy not leading has the advantage, which was me," Bayston believes. "I kind of knew what Tanner was going to do and I knew if I could get a good restart, I could at least get in front of Tanner and break his momentum. If I didn't get a good restart, I knew he'd have track position and it would be tough to beat him."
As soon as it looked as if Bayston appeared to secure the spot, on the final lap, Thorson fought back to pull alongside Bayston midway through the back straightaway while, suddenly, Grant made a play to the far bottom and the trio were three-wide briefly before heading into three.
Both Bayston and Thorson slid side-by-side into the corner, never lifting, but both stumbled atop the cushion, allowing Grant to dart underneath both off turn four to win his first USAC National Midget feature since the season opening "Shamrock Classic" at the Southern Illinois Center in March. Thorson also slipped past Bayston off the final corner to take second while Bayston dropped to third ahead of Golobic and Tanner Carrick.
"I thought we could at least get one of them there on that restart, but I wasn't sure about both of them," Grant admits. "After Bayston threw the slider into three, I kind of figured, 'Well, we're going to end up second, maybe third.' I got Thorson and said, 'Okay, at least we're going to have second." Then, Bayston had a big bicycle and I thought 'Holy cow,' I think we're going to win this thing!' I was just hoping that he kept it going and a caution or red didn't come out and we'd have to do it all over again and fend them off another time or give the spot back to Thorson, but, luckily, it all worked out."

"I'd been getting a good run off the bottom of (turn) two, especially late in the race," Grant continued. "I got up alongside those guys off two and almost was in a position to slide them both into three, but not quite. Bayston ran the big slider block on Thorson and I was able to slide past Thorson getting into the middle of the corner and he kind of got messed up on the cushion right as we were getting there. Bayston had so much speed sliding across the middle from blocking the slider that he hit the curb and bicycled and we were able to skate on through there unscathed."
While Grant's midget season hasn't been a disappointment by any means, the consistent strong runs just haven't translated into as many wins as he's had during his 2017 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car campaign where he owns the point lead and four wins. The pressure can mount in such situations for any driver with the competitive nature that Grant possesses, but the 26-year-old feels he's in the right spot now with the right team.
"Sometimes, if you can't be the best guy, you've got to be the luckiest," Grant quips. "You have to be in the right spot to win them and, tonight, it worked out in our favor. We were good enough to capitalize on their mistake and that's what you've got to do sometimes. I've been running well, but I just haven't gotten a win in a few months. Running second, third, fourth and fifth, that's good and all, but it really starts to wear on you after a while, especially when you start out the year so strong and then kind of taper off. I put a lot of pressure on myself to win, but this team's really great. They let you do what you can do and they want to win, but they're not breathing down your back and that makes it a lot easier to do your job. Across the board, all the people I race with are that way and it makes it really fun and easier to do your job, for sure."
Minden, Nevada's Tanner Thorson appeared to be the dominant driver when the final caution occurred with two laps remaining, leading two different stints of the 30-lap feature in the opening and latter stages for a total of 11 laps before finishing second in his Keith Kunz-Curb-Agajanian Motorsports/JBL Audio - TRD/Bullet by Spike/Speedway Toyota. Yet, to him, leading on a late-race restart such as he was is not the ideal place to be.
"It's a pretty big disadvantage," Thorson readily admits. "You're kind of a sitting duck there. When you're committed to running one line and that's it, you don't know exactly where everybody's going to go on the restart, what's going to work and what's not going to work. It's a situation I'd have rather been sitting in the second or third spot like Spencer and Justin. Spencer and I are teammates, but we're both here to win and we're going to do it what it takes to get it done. I wouldn't say we were worse than Justin or Justin was better than us, but I'd definitely say Spencer and I we're both pretty dominant throughout the whole race."
"It was a matter of three cars going into one turn and none of us were lifting," Thorson said of the final lap battle between he and Bayston. "We're all here to win and we're all going to do what it takes to win. I wasn't lifting, Spencer wasn't lifting for me and I wasn't lifting for Justin. Justin was on the line to be in and it definitely showed right there. It was a little bit slick through turn three. Our cars took off like rockets and gained some speed getting into the corner, which made matters a little worse and sent us hopping the cushion. I was able to get the car turned back down, get going and managed to get second. Can't be too mad about that. We just got beat."
Just eight days following his masterful performance on the Belleville High Banks, Lebanon, Indiana's Spencer Bayston came within one corner of becoming the season's fourth different repeat winner in his Keith Kunz-Curb-Agajanian Motorsports/IWX - Curb Records - TRD/Bullet by Spike/Speedway Toyota.
"Neither Tanner or I wanted to lose, so we both drove it in deep," Bayston said. "I drove it in really deep and got up over the cushion and biked it up a little bit. Grant was there at the right time and just stole it from us. Both Tanner and I wanted to win really badly. I think both of our cars were better than the rest of the field's. it's kind of unfortunate the way it ended up."

SWANSON'S SALEM REPEAT MOVES HIM TO 2ND ALL-TIME ON SILVER CROWN WIN LIST

Salem, Indiana.....August 12, 2017 - After a two-race "winless" streak, Kody Swanson admits it's hard to say that he and the DePalma Motorsports team were struggling.
Yet, for a team so accustomed to winning over the past four seasons, the results were bound to change soon as he, chief wrench Bob Hampshire and the crew went back to the books and did their homework over the last two weeks to return to victory lane for the second consecutive year in the "Joe James/Pat O'Connor Memorial" Saturday night at Salem Speedway.
Swanson's 18th career victory in the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series presented by TRAXXAS has him walking in high cotton as he moved into sole possession of second-place on the all-time series win list while his second-straight "James/O'Connor" triumph made him the fourth to accomplish the feat, joining Parnelli Jones (1960-61), Pancho Carter (1974-75-76-77) and Brian Gerster (2014-15).
To put his name on a list with those individuals and reach that kind of comfort level on Salem's 33-degree banks was something Swanson never imagined to be in the cards when he made his first visit years ago.
"Those guys live for tracks like this to show how they great they are and were," Swanson said. "That hadn't always been my style. Last year, I felt I had to do my best impression of those guys to stay in the title hunt. The first time I came here, I never thought I'd get comfortable. As time's gone on, I've embraced the challenge and gotten more accustomed to what it takes to run the banks."
Swanson laid down the gauntlet in ProSource Qualifying, breaking his one-year-old track record by five-hundredths of a second and more than three-tenths faster than second-fastest. However, as was the case in last year's event, Aaron Pierce would grab the advantage early on from Swanson.
With the spectacular sight of sparks trailing from the tails of the front-running cars lighting up the nighttime sky, the pace of the top-three was astounding with Pierce, Swanson and Chris Windom jockeying for position, separating themselves from fourth and fifth-running David Byrne and Justin Grant through the first-quarter of the 75-lap sprint.
On lap 19, Grant attempted an inside pass on Byrne for fourth between turns three and four, but lost the back end and looped it down the backing without contact. He would restart and recover to finish a solid seventh.
On the lap 24 restart, once again, Pierce was able to get away from Swanson, immediately opening up a ten-car-length lead. But it didn't long for the two-time champ to reel him back in just seven circuits later on the 31st lap.
"I got a run up to the top of the hill right by the fence in turn three," Swanson recalls. "I turned it down and had just enough of a run off four to outrace him into turn one. Once we got to the lead, we could control the pace a little bit, but from there, it was no easy task."
On lap 41, Windom was all over the rear bumper of Pierce for second and the two even made slight nose-to-tail contact in turn two. After relentlessly trying to work the lower line on Pierce for several laps, Windom out-drag-raced Pierce into turn one to take second and set the forward the motion of tracking down Swanson.
"Once Chris got clear, I knew he'd be coming," Swanson said. "Chris was strong early, he was pressing me hard and showing me a nose all the time that reminded me that if I ever screwed up, he was out of there. I knew if I slowed up at all, Chris was going by us both."
Windom closed the gap and hounded Santos for the ensuing ten laps before he began to fade ever so slightly and Swanson continued to run consistent laps in the low 17-second range that rarely wavered a tenth or two in either direction throughout the duration, something to do that Swanson made appear relatively easy, but is certainly not.
"This place is incredibly difficult," Swanson said. "It's so high-banked and physically demanding just on the load and the force that you go through. With an open wheel car, you carry so much speed and you don't have a lot of grip. That makes it hard to drive. On top of that, Salem has some character on both ends. I used to fear coming here because it was a track that made me feel uncomfortable. I always felt like I was behind. I was just trying to react. I wasn't able to race because I was just trying to survive each lap. Running this car last year and running with these guys made It fun. Today, when I came through the gates, instead of thinking 'oh my gosh, I'm at Salem,' I was excited for the challenge. No one's going to have a perfect handling racecar here, so it's time to get up in the seat and do your job."
A handful of lapped cars were all that Swanson needed to stream by in the final laps, and did so without much hesitation to win his third series race of the year by 1.606 seconds over Windom, Bobby Santos, Pierce and Davey Hamilton, Jr.
A 75-lapper at Salem can be physically and mentally wearing on any driver. There's no time to breathe due to the pure speed and the closeness of the racing. Despite the obstacles, as the race went on, the more comfortable Swanson became.
"My wife spots for me. I trust her with everything," Swanson said. When you hear the 'clear by 3' go up to 'clear by 5,' you have a little reassurance. It was tough in lapped traffic. We seemed to catch them at the wrong time and it allowed them to close. The longer the race went, the better I felt. In the last 20, we were able to click off pretty smooth and consistent laps. With bumps, it's fun as a driver because you can always move around and you're constantly trying to figure out, 'can I use it better or can I dodge it better?' As your car wears out, if you can figure it out, it will pay dividends."

Donny Schatz Wins His 10th Knoxville Nationals
Knoxville, Iowa - August 12, 2017 - Donny Schatz inherited the lead on lap 22, after race-long leader David Gravel slowed with motor problems, and held off NASCAR star Kyle Larson to win his 10th 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey's General Store. Schatz, who turned 40-years old this week, trails only Steve Kinser (12) in Knoxville Nationals Championships. Larson settled for second with Australian Kerry Madsen rounding out the podium. World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series drivers Shane Stewart and Brad Sweet completed the top five.
Following his perfect qualifying night, David Gravel flexed his muscles early establishing a sizeable advantage over fellow front-row starter, Donny Schatz. Gravel was masterful in lapped traffic and set a torrid pace. Schatz pulled ahead of Gravel on the 12th circuit, but Gravel got back by at the line. Gravel again stretched his lead out before disaster struck on lap 22. The perfect weekend for the Watertown, CT driver came to an end in turn four after losing power in his CJB Motorsports No. 5.
"Something let go on the backstretch and then something let go in turn three and four," a disappointed Gravel said following the race. "We have a fast car. We're going to come back, win some races and kick some ass."
Kerry Madsen assumed second and took his shot at the lead with a massive slide job in turn one to no avail. Schatz, Madsen and Larson attacked the cushion before Terry McCarl brought out a caution with 24 laps in the book. The yellow flag turned red and served as the mandatory fuel stop for the teams.
Following the red, Larson slipped by Madsen while Schatz extended his lead and battled through heavy traffic. "I knew I needed to push the issue. It got pretty hairy a couple of times. The race track had a pretty tricky lip," Schatz said.
Schatz and Larson flirted with danger lap after lap before Larson took his shot in traffic. On the final circuit, Larson tried a bonsai slide job to no avail as he had the best view watching the Tony Stewart Racing No. 15 cross the finish line first.
"I'm thankful I was able to run tonight. I can't think Chip [Ganassi] enough. The months leading up to this event I thought I was going to be able to race Wednesday and that's it," Larson said in the post-race press conference.
For Schatz, it was his 10th Knoxville Nationals Championship in the last 12 years. "It's been a hell of a streak. All the second places I had before I finally won changed the whole dynamic and view of this place for me. I'm fortunate enough to be able to work with the same people for such a long amount of time," a pleased Schatz said.
Donny Schatz will go for his 11th 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals title at the same time, same place next year. Up next for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is a trip to North Dakota for a three-race weekend starting Friday at the River Cities Speedway.

As the summer sunshine continues to capture the beautiful scenic Pocono Mountain landscape, the drivers and crews of a special breed of racers continue to compete and put on great shows at the Hamlin Speedway and Saturday night was no exception. Promoters Denise and Randy Smith offered another fabulous edition of the 2017 racing season at Hamlin and the talented roster of drivers once again displayed their daredevil, race to the walls brand of racing excitement. A large crowd was on hand to witness the show as one hundred and eight racers came to do battle on Saturday evening. The seven feature card was presented by S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and JPA Masonry located in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.
When the final scorecards were tallied it was "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober scoring his eighth win of the season in the Super Slinger finale. "The Angle" Cole Stangle continues to raise the bar as he sped to his second win of the season in the Hampton RV and Trailer Stage One Modified Division. Duane White led all of the way to capture his first ever career win in the JPA Masonry Wingless 600 Sprint main. "The Fearless One" Kyle Ferrucci added another notch to his gun belt with his third win of the season in the Wingless 270 Sprint main. Jack VanVarick, competing in only in a handful of events this season, was in the zone as he raced to his first win of the season at Hamlin in the Junior Slingshot finale. "The Ry-Guy" Ryan Stangle has only been competing at Hamlin a few times but he was spot on as he sped to his first career victory of the season in the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 feature event. In the headliner event of the evening, "The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber led all thirty laps to claim his second win of the season at Hamlin in the All Star Slingshot finale.
The seven feature events were all excellent runs and the "stars of tomorrow" Junior Slingshot drivers continue to excel with each turn of the steering wheel as seventeen drivers began the feature on Saturday night. JJ Rice and Jack VanVarick brought the field to the line. VanVarick jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and the move would prove to be the winner as VanVarick would withstand a full blown effort from Rice to lead all twenty laps to capture his first career win at Hamlin in his Bangor Steel Sponsored hot rod. A scramble on the final lap found Adam Buchel notching a runner-up finish in his Cole Polishing sponsored mount. Rice would finish third with Jake Mason and Shelby McLaughlin completing the top five. Heading up the second five was John Kendall with Mikey Johannes, Tyler Banks, Abby Yates and Kyle Swart all nailing down top ten finishes.
Mark Corna raced into the lead in turn one at the start of the Hampton RV and Trailer Stage One Modified main event. Corna would lead for a lap before yielding to Mike Samony as the mighty one used a strong top shelf maneuver to take away the lead from Corna. Samony would lead through lap nine as when he encountered slower traffic Cole Stangle was the johnny on the spot and grabbed the lead. That would be the only move Stangle would need as he controlled the point despite the fact he had Pat VanVarick and Joel Smith breathing down his tailpipes. Cole Stangle would race to his second win with VanVarick and Joel Smith behind him. John Comandini was fourth and Anthony Recchio rounded out the top five. Michael Samony headed up the second five with newcomer Andrew Vreeland, Cody Motto, newcomer Jacob Nemeth and John Bachetti Sr completing the top ten.
The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint feature found Ryan Stangle hustling out front at the start of the event. Stangle was able to find the line he wanted and stayed true to the line throughout the running of the event. Paul Richards Jr took up the chase at the halfway point and closed nose to tail with Stangle but a costly jingle with a slower car coming to the finish line created the loss of valuable real estate at the end. Stangle would capture the win with Macy Litchauer second, Joey Amantea third, Ryan Lacoe fourth and Chloe Andreas returning to action to nail down fifth place. Paul Richards Jr headed up the second five with Carmen Leggio Sr, Zack Weisenfluh, newcomer Mike Thompson and Jack Hanna completing the top ten.
The Wingless 270 Sprint headliner found Alex Reinsmith getting the jump on the field when the green flag was displayed. The event settled into a high speed chase as Reinsmith would lead for four laps until the high flying Kyle Ferrucci drove on by. Once in front, Ferrucci built up a huge lead on the field to go on and capture his third win of the season. Reinsmith would finish second with Glenn Macomber third.
Super Slinger action found Dale Kober getting the jump on the field at the start of the event. Once in front, Kober was able to race to daylight while some heated racing action was going on behind him. Kober has had the hot hand all season long and sped to his eighth win of the season with Greg Zellman making a valiant effort to finish in the runner-up role. Mike Taylor was third with Donny Hockman grabbing up fourth in the Tess Horvath race car, Wes Hearn fifth and Jimmy Conroy making up the remainder of the field.
The JPA Masonry 600 Wingless Sprint main found South Abington Township resident Duane White driving to daylight at the drop of the green flag. White kept a steady pace with plenty of heated action going on behind him. Joseph Smith and Joel Smith had their own battle gong and Mack Brink and Mick D'Agostino would join the battle several laps later. This was a night when everything went (r)white as Duane White raced to his first career win at Hamlin. Joseph Smith outlasted Joel Smith for runner-up honors with Joel Smith, Mack Brink and Mick D'Agostino completing the top five. Damon Paul, Colin White, Danny Buccafusca, the returning Pat Bealer and the returning Ryan Quackenbush completed the top ten finishers.
Thirty three cars attempted to qualify for the next to last leg of the Slingshot Speedweeks event. Utilizing the dual heat format, Brett Bieber earned the pole start for the thirty lap headliner. Bieber out gunned Dylan Hoch into turn one and the move would prove to be the highlight reel as Bieber hit his marks constantly around the speedway and later in the race was able to drive away from the field in between caution flags. Bieber would earn his second win of the season with Hoch in the runner-up role. Cody Kline was third with Tyler Peet and Jared Silfee completing the top five. Dale Kober headed up the second five with Mike Taylor, Cole Stangle, Russell Benke and Seth Spayd following. The next five in line were Samantha Muller, Alan Kober, Amanda Buchel, Dakota Kohler and Anthony Raisner. Twenty of the twenty seven starters completed all thirty laps of the feature event.
PEARL JAMS:
Heat racing action at Hamlin continue to fuel the fires that make Hamlin Speedway the place to be on Saturday nights as Duane White and Joseph Smith were victorious in the 600 Sprint heat events. Two heats were required for the Stage One Modifieds with Joel Smith and Cole Stangle securing the wins. Kyle Ferrucci captured the heat win for the Wingless 270 Sprints. Dale Kober captured the lone heat race win for the Super Slingers. Two rounds of heats were need to establish the starting lineup for the All Star Slingshots and capturing heat wins were Wes Hearn, Brett Bieber, Dylan Hoch and Troy Langerdoerfer in round one while Seth Spayd, Tyler Peet, Russell Benke and Alan Kober were victorious in the second round.
The Junior Slingshot ran time trials with Shelby McLaughlin holding the hot hand at 14.890 seconds over JJ Rice and Tyler Banks.
Newcomers or returning racers to the Hamlin Speedway scene for the Saturday night racing action included Brian Smith in the Junior Slingshots. Donny Hockman returned to action in the Super Slingers. The All Star Slingshots featured Dylan Hoch, Brett Bieber, Seth Spayd, Anthony Raisner, Kyle Herve, Dakota Kohler and Joe Toth. Tanner Jones was leading his heat event when he expired an engine in his racer. Mike Thompson, Dennis Chamberlain, Ryan Quackenbush, Pat Bealer and Eddie Strada were in action in the 600 Sprints. Chloe Andreas and Dennis Stawinski Jr returned to action in the Rookie 600 Sprints. Jacob Nemeth and Meredith Howell were on hand to do battle in the Stage One Modifieds.
Despite all of the rain that has inundated the Northeast, Randy Smith had the speedway in great shape for the evening of speed and three and four wide action in the heat events was commonplace. At intermission Smith brought out the grader to give the drivers an equal race track to compete on and the racing was over the top great.
Cindy Motto won the 50/50.

Scranton Times writer Scott Walsh took in the racing action for the first time and came away very impressed with the professionally run speedway and the over the top talent that exists at Hamlin. Walsh is preparing some future stories regarding the Hamlin Driving roster.
Congratulations are in order for Hamlin drivers for the great showing on Tuesday night at the Reading Nostalgia Nationals with Shelby McLaughlin capturing the Junior Slingshot event and Jared Silfee winning the All Star Slingshot event in the Randy and Denise Smith owned Slingshot making it a clean sweep in the winner's circle.
"The Communicator" Matthew Gaughan took in the show this week as he drove in from Ohio.

410 SPRINTS & MODIFIEDS COMPETE IN ‘THE ULTIMATE DOUBLE HEADER’ AT NEW EGYPT WEDNESDAY AUGUST 23
NEW EGYPT, NJ (August 12, 2017) – The most popular racing divisions in the area – the 410 Sprint Cars and the Modifieds -- return to New Egypt Speedway for an all-out battle of the best racers around. Pioneer Pole Building presents Jersey Rush VII on Wednesday, August 23 – a thrilling double main event show that kicks off with an exclusive pre-race pit party for loyal race fans from 5 to 6 PM. Come out early and meet the drivers before the racing event gets underway at 7:30 PM.
The 410 Sprint Cars will race for a $5,000 pay day with $1,000 going to the tenth place finisher and $300 to start the A-main. The area’s fastest Sprint Car drivers will compete in 10 lap heat races – set from time trials, and a 12 lap B-Main before the 30 lap main event. Only approved Hoosier H-Series tires will be eligible for competition.
Previous Jersey Rush winners Ryan Smith and JJ Grasso are among looking to score wins in the Garden State. While fan favorites like Danny Dietrich and Lucas Wolfe are chasing their first victories at the Jersey dirt track.
A Big-Block vs. Small-Block Modifieds challenge will offer a $3,000 top prize with $1,000 going to the fifth-place finisher and $250 to start the feature event. The top-12 heat race finishers will redraw for feature starting positions. Modifieds MUST use American Racer tires with a left rear 44 compound and a right rear 48 compound. Competitors have the option of running a Big-Block with windows or a spec Small-Block with Sail Panels. Big-Blocks must weigh a minimum of 2,500 lbs.; Open Small Blocks must weigh a minimum of 2,450 lbs. and use windows; Spec Small Blocks on alcohol must weigh a minimum of 2,350 lbs. and on gas a minimum of 2,275 lbs. and have the option to run sail panels.
Modified competitors like Billy Pauch Jr, Ryan Godown, Danny Bouc, Duane Howard, Rick Laubach and Jeff Strunk are all expected to be in attendance

Before the racing action, fans will be treated to a special pre-race Meet and Greet from 5:00-6:00 PM. All race fans are welcome to visit the pit area and get an up-close look at the stars and cars competing in the JERSEY RUSH VII. Spectators can enter the pit area from the gate behind the fourth turn grandstands.
Adult Admission for Jersey Rush VII is $30, Children (6-11): $10 and Children 5 and under are FREE! Pit admission is $35 with no license required.
Pit Gates open at 3:30 PM, Grandstands open at 5:00 PM, the Driver’s Meeting will be at 6:15 PM, Warm-Ups at 7:00 PM and racing at 7:30 PM.

Jason Johnson Sweeps Friday Night's Events at 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals
Schuchart comes from 11th to lock into Saturday's main event
KNOXVILLE, IA - August 11, 2017 - Defending 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals Champion Jason Johnson had two opportunities to lock-in to Saturday Night's finale and took advantage of both them sweeping both the Friday night feature and the SPEED SPORT World Challenge. World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Driver Logan Schuchart, Texas wheelman Aaron Reutzel and California's Cory Eliason also punched their tickets into Saturday night's 50-lap, $150,000 to-win feature Friday night at Knoxville.
Johnson set quick time in his group, won his heat race and dominated the 25-lap Feature. "We came back with confidence after last night. I just needed to hit my marks and do my job," Johnson said. Johnson's win will line him up 17th in tomorrow's 50-lap Feature. When asked about how he will approach the Feature starting further back then last year Johnson said, "It's a mindset difference. Obviously, you want to start on the front row but you just have to sit down with yourself and know it will be a different outcome. The best we could do tonight was win and start 17th tomorrow and we did that."
Jacob Allen started on the pole and led the opening circuit before giving way to Johnson. Allen stayed with Johnson throughout the early portion of the race. A lap four red flag for Lynton Jeffrey bunched the field together, which was exactly what Allen's teammate, Logan Schuchart needed. Schuchart, who originally started 11th, restarted eighth and begun his charge on the bottom of the half-mile. Schuchart worked his way through the field and overtook Eliason for the fourth and final transfer spot. A lap later Schuchart breezed by both his teammate Allen and Reutzel to move into the runner-up position, where he would finish.
Reutzel got by Allen and a lap later Allen hit the inside berm the wrong and allowed Eliason to sneak underneath the #1A off of turn four. 20th starting Chad Kemenah charged his way forward but was unable to get by Eliason for the final spot.
Johnson would go on to win by 4.535 seconds. Schuchart, who locked into his second consecutive Knoxville Nationals Feature, becomes the seventh World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series driver to lock-in to tomorrow's Feature. "We've had a lot of ups and downs this season. I'm happy for my team. We had a lot of confidence coming in for our qualifying night but we blew up. I felt like we had a good shot at it tonight and I'm glad we were able to lock in to the Feature tomorrow," a happy Schuchart said.
Aaron Reutzel and Cory Eliason both qualified for their first Knoxville Nationals A-Main.
Jason Johnson was not done there. He started fourth in the SPEED SPORT World Challenge and passed race-long leader James McFadden on lap seven and never looked back. McFadden settled for second with 14th starting Brad Sweet, Dominic Scelzi and Brian Brown completing the top five.
Saturday night the 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals come to an end, concluding with a 50-lap, $150,000 to-win Feature. There will be an E-Main, D-main, C-Main and Last Chance Showdown leading up the finale.
