GROSSO GAINS HIS FIRST CAREER MODIFIED FEATURE VICTORY AT NEW EGYPT
SPEEDWAY'S ALL STAR CUP SHOOTOUT

New Egypt, NJ (October 22, 2017) - At New Egypt Speedway's All Star Cup
Shootout presented by the Flemington Car & Truck Country Family of
Dealerships and 48Barriers.com, Brandon Grosso gained his first Modified
feature victory. Kyle Lilick topped the field in the main event for the
Hammer Sportsman. The Crate Modified feature was won by Matt Stangle while
Ryan Godown scored the checkered flag in the Northeast Wingless Sprint Car
contest.

When the 60-lap Modified feature got underway, Dominick Buffalino grabbed
the lead with Jimmy Horton and Brandon Grosso next in line. On lap three,
Grosso moved past Horton to take over second with Duane Howard advancing
into fourth. The top four of Buffalino, Grosso, Horton and Howard were
intact when the first appearance of the yellow flag took place for John
Pakenham on the eighth tour. When action resumed, Grosso zipped by Buffalino
to take the top running position with Howard motoring into third. After two
more caution periods, Grosso was still in command on lap thirteen with
Howard, Buffalino, Horton, and Mike Gular in tow. Setting a torrid pace,
Grosso began to enter lap traffic on the nineteenth circuit. On lap
twenty-six as the top runners were slicing their way by slower competitors,
the third place running Buffalino spun to bring out the yellow flag. On the
ensuing restart, Grosso fended off Howard to maintain his edge with Horton,
Billy Pauch, Jr. and Gular in his tracks. At the halfway point, a fuel stop
took place and Grosso was still on top with Howard, Horton, Pauch, Jr. and
Gular rounding out the top five. Following the brief break, Grosso outgunned
Howard again to keep his lead with Pauch, Jr. taking over third. With twenty
laps remaining, Grosso was beginning to encounter lap traffic as Howard was
trying to hold off Pauch, Jr. for second place. With ten to go, Grosso was
knifing his way through competitors as Howard and Pauch, Jr. were in a
battle for second while Horton was trying to hold off Brett Kressley for
fourth. On lap fifty-four, the yellow lights illuminated for the final time
for JR Fulper. As the green flag waved, Grosso repelled another challenge by
Howard to hold onto his lead. Over the final tours, Grosso continued to pull
away from the field and led them to the finish line for his first career
Modified win. Howard edged Pauch, Jr. by less than a car length to come home
in second. A late run by David VanHorn earned him fourth place and fifth was
taken by Horton. Jimmy Horton, Jeff Strunk and Mike Gular scored wins in the
Modified heat races.

The 25-lap Hammer Sportsman feature went down to the wire as a last circuit
pass gave Kyle Lilick the victory. Polesitter Jeff Bubori took control of
the race at the start and he drove to a straightaway advantage with ten
revolutions recorded. Kyle Lilick, who started the event in thirteenth,
climbed into second place just before the halfway mark. With five to go,
Bubori's lead had been cut in half as Lilick was quickly tracking him down.
As the white flag waved, Lilick was nearing the bumper of Bubori. Coming out
of turn four on the last circuit, Lilick used the inside land to slip past
Bubori to claim his first New Egypt Speedway checkered flag. With Bubori in
second, Pat Wall was third. Brian Papiez finished in fourth and fifth went
to Jim Housworth. The Sportsman qualifying events were taken by Pat Wall and
Art Liedl.

After grabbing the lead from Frank Dorry, Jr. on the sixth circuit, Matt
Stangle headed the field to the finish line to take the 25-lap feature for
the Crate Modifieds. Dorry, Jr. followed Stangle to claim second place. Ryan
Simmons completed the race in third. Kyle Kania was fourth and Jeremy
Martino was fifth. Matt Stangle and Alonzo Morales were the Crate Modified
heat race victors.

Ryan Godown took the lead on the fifth tour and paced the field for the
remaining distance to collect his eleventh win of the year in the 20-lap
feature for the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars. Lee Nardelli was the
runner-up. Third place was taken by Eric Jennings. Bobby Tersillo and Brody
Adamsky completed the top five. Rich Mellor won the qualifying contest for
the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars.

Kerry Madsen Wins Outstanding Salina Highbanks Feature

Donny Schatz and Brad Sweet complete podium in thrilling Feature

SALINA, OK. - October 21, 2017 - Kerry Madsen had over an eight second lead last night at Lakeside Speedway before spinning in heavy lapped traffic. Tonight, the 'Mad Man' made sure he parked his GoMuddy.com No.2M where it belonged - on the frontstretch. In thrilling fashion, Madsen went from third to the lead in half a lap and went on to win his fifth World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Feature of the season. Donny Schatz and Brad Sweet completed the podium at the Salina Highbanks Speedway.

With severe weather looming in the area, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series was in a race against Mother Nature all night. David Gravel won the Craftsman Club Dash, but blew up coming to the checkered. Gravel and his CJB Motorsports No.5 scrambled to swap motors before the Feature and did so successfully.

Gravel edged fellow front row starter Brad Sweet down the backstretch on the opening lap. Sweet went for the lead with a slide job into turn three and made contact with Gravel at the exit of turn four, ending the CJB No.5's evening.

"We were racing for inches at 130MPH and neither of us gave an inch," Gravel said post-race in regard to the incident. "There just wasn't enough room."

Sweet survived the incident unscathed and led the field back to Green. Sweet pounded the cushion through lapped traffic as Kerry Madsen and Shane Stewart waged war for second.

At the halfway point, Sweet was in heavy lapped traffic and Stewart had wrestled second from Madsen. Sweet split two lapped cars on lap 19 and had a straightaway of clear track ahead of him.

By this point, the Salina Highbanks crowd was on their feet and with good reason as there were cars all over the racing surface throwing slide jobs in every corner.

On lap 24, Kerry Madsen used a big run down the backstretch to get back by Stewart for second and then threw a huge slider on Sweet to take the lead down the frontstretch. Sweet tried to return the favor as Donny Schatz stuck himself in the mix as well. A blanket could have been thrown over the top four, as they battled for the race lead.

Race action was halted on lap 28 when RJ Johnson took a vicious crash into the frontstretch guardrail. Johnson was uninjured in the incident and walked away under his own power.

The Red Flag allowed fans and drivers alike to catch their breath and set up a single-file restart with two to go.

Madsen powered away on the restart and went on to score the victory. "We gave one away last night," the Australian said. "I'm glad I was able to put this car where it belongs. It is an absolute joy to drive every night."

"Salina is always exciting and I thought that was pretty exciting. I hope the fans did as well," Madsen added.

Schatz settled for second with Sweet completing the podium. "It's tough with a single-file restart with two to go, you almost are just hoping to hang on for second," Schatz said. "We'll come back and try and pick up a pair of wins next weekend."

Sweet led the first 23 laps and was understandably a little disappointed. "I was surprised I hit him. I was expecting him to turn back underneath me," he said in reference to the lap one incident with Gravel. "I'll have to go back and watch it."

Shane Stewart and Jason Johnson completed the top five.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to action next weekend at the Dodge City Raceway Park before wrapping up the 2017 season at the Textron Offroad World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

ASCS National Sprint Series

`
Aaron Reutzel Battles To First Career Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals Victory

MESQUITE, Texas (October 21, 2017) The 44th annual Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals ended with a first time winner at the famed half-mile as Aaron Reutzel battled his way to the front of the field aboard his Dissolvalloy No. 87 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

"We had a great racecar and a hell of a start," commented Reutzel, who later went to give high praise to his crew. "I let Grant have full reign on the car tonight. I just told him to do whatever he wanted and, well, I'd never won at the Devil's Bowl so what does that say? Just hats off to Grant, my whole crew, just everyone who supports me."

Never slowed by a caution during Saturday's 30 lap affair, Aaron's sixth National Tour score of the 2017 season began from the fifth starting spot. With the start playing to his advantage, Reutzel moved to second on the opening lap with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. offering battle while Blake Hahn rolled away with the race lead.

Approaching traffic with 10 laps complete, Reutzel and Hafertepe trailed by just under a straightaway, but that gap was short-lived as the pair made up the distance in three laps with Aaron and Hahn beginning a multi-lap shootout for the race lead.

Diving into a slide job through the first and second turns with 13 laps complete, Aaron slid wide off the turn with Hahn able to turn down the track and reclaim the top-spot going into the third and fourth turns. Lap after lap, the process repeated itself with the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 able to edge out Reutzel's No. 87 at the line until Aaron finally gained the upper hand to lead Lap 18. Challenged again off the second turn, Aaron was able to break Hahn's momentum to give himself a six-car length buffer into turn three.

On the race to the front, Aaron said, "I knew if I could just hold Sam off until the top cleaned off I knew I'd be pretty good. Sam and I raced pretty hard there early and Blake was a whole straightaway ahead and I got right up to him so I knew if I just played it cool I could pick and choose my lines but it was definitely a chess match on when to slide someone and when not to."

Still sorting through slower traffic through the closing laps, Aaron avoided several close calls and in doing so and moved to a quarter straightaway advantage at the drop of the checkered flag for his 19th career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumph.

With Sam Hafertepe, Jr. on his back bumper from Lap 19 on, Blake Hahn was able to hold off the current Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour point's leader. Hafertepe in third was followed by Matt Covington with Wayne Johnson rounding out the top-five. John Caney II was sixth with Johnny Herrera rebounding from an expired engine on Friday to seventh. Travis Rilat, Harli White, and Skylar Gee made up the top-ten.
An overall field of 33 drivers took part in the 44th annual Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals and Lanny Edwards Memorial. Saturday Heat Race winners included Johnny Herrera, Chance Morton, Harli White, and Skylar Gee. The B-Feature was topped by Alex Sewell, who would also be the night's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger.

The Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network heads north to Sapulpa, Okla. for the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling presented by Emmett Hahn on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28 at Creek County Speedway. The two day affair will be preceded by an open practice on Thursday, October 26. More information on the event can be found online at www.creekcountyspeedway.com.

Brian Brown Thrills Hometown Crowd with Outlaws Win at Lakeside

Sheldon Haudenschild and 12th-starting Donny Schatz completed the podium; Salina on deck

KANSAS CITY, KS - October 20, 2017 - Brian Brown led the first seven laps before Kerry Madsen took command on the eighth circuit. Brown inherited the lead with 10 to go after Madsen got spun around in lapped traffic. 'BlackJack' went on to score a popular hometown win in the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout at the Lakeside Speedway. Sheldon Haudenschild and 12th starting Donny Schatz completed the podium.

Brown, who is sponsored by FVP, passed Brent Marks in his Heat Race to score the victory and came from third to win the Craftsman Club Dash to earn the pole of the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout.

Brown survived multiple slide job attempts from both Jac and Sheldon Haudenschild to maintain the early lead as he reached traffic on lap six. By lap eight, Kerry Madsen had worked his way forward from his fifth starting position, surpassed both Haudenschild's and swooped underneath Brown for the lead.

Madsen, who has four World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wins to his credit this season, clearly established himself as the car to beat once he took command. While Madsen stretched his lead, complete mayhem took place behind him with drivers utilizing all the real estate Lakeside Speedway had to offer. Sheldon Haudenschild and Brown continued their battle for the runner-up position, exchanging the spot multiple times.

Madsen was well on his way to scoring his fifth Outlaw win of the season before disaster struck on lap 20. Madsen got turned around in turn three and ended up with a flat right rear tire. At the time of the accident, Madsen had seven lapped cars and over 8.5 seconds in between himself and the rest of the field.

The see-saw battle between Sheldon and Brown saw the latter assume the lead on lap 20. On the ensuing restart, Schatz and Sheldon waged war for the runner-up position allowing Brown to extend his lead. Brown wouldn't relinquish the lead twice on one night as he was masterful in lapped traffic the last few laps en route to the popular victory.

"My guys did a phenomenal job. These Outlaw races are so tough to win. You can feel the pressure in lapped traffic," a jubilant Brown said in Victory Lane.

"I've won with the Outlaws in Arizona and North Carolina so I've never really been able to celebrate. To do it here, with all the FVP guys in attendance - we'll celebrate with a few beers tonight," the Grain Valley, Missouri native said to a big ovation from the crowd.

Sheldon, who remains the leading contender for Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, settled for second once again as he continues to knock on the door of his first career win with the Series. Schatz, Jason Johnson and Kerry Madsen, with a remarkable comeback completed the top five.

Madsen restarted 14th with ten laps to go and showed the same speed he had while leading, sliding his way forward back to fifth at the finish line.

After the race, Madsen was in good spirits, "Obviously it's a huge disappointment when you have a car that good, but that's racing. We'll try again next time."

Sheldon cited the great racing between he and Brown, although most of it was when they were battling for second. "We had some really good racing going on back there. I threw a couple of good sliders in the middle of the race but could never make it stick," Sheldon said. He then added with a smile, "The track was absolutely perfect."

Shane Stewart, David Gravel, Brad Sweet, Daryn Pittman and 21st-starting Logan Schuchart, who earned KSE Hard Charger honors, completed the top ten.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is in action Saturday night, October 21, at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma. If you can't make it to the track, DIRTVision.com will have live video coverage of The Greatest Show on Dirt from the high banks of Salina.

RYAN STILLWAGGON WINS MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT THUNDER ON THE HILL EVENT SATURDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW
BECHLESVILLE, PA
By ERIKA PALMAI WAGNER

Burlington, NJ native Ryan Stillwaggon added his name to the prestigious list of Thunder On The Hill Racing Series feature winners this past Saturday night at Grandview Speedway after winning the twenty-five lap $500 to win Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series event. Stillwaggon, who started alongside runner up Tim Tanner Jr. on the front row, led every lap and survived multiple cautions as well as heavy lapped traffic on his journey to victory lane. 2017 MASS champion Eddie Wagner, Austin Bishop and Dave Brown rounded out the top five.

“I just want to thank Ray Dunckley from Speed Equipment Corp. for all of his support and help. Ray plays a major role in my racing program, and without him, a lot of this wouldn’t be possible,” Stillwaggon mentioned. “I also have to thank my brother Robbie for all his help, as well as Mike Stoer and Jeff Moules for their help tonight. We have a great team with a lot of knowledge, and that is always a great recipe for winning”.

With Stillwaggon taking command of the field as soon as the green flag dropped, a heated battle for the top five ensued between Tanner, Bishop, Wagner and Tom Carberry. An early caution was displayed on lap three for rookie Chad Connor who spun and came to a stop.

“The track was pretty racy, tight and the curb was tricky, but I’m not going to complain because its been awhile since I’ve seen a track with a cushion like that. Grandview did an awesome job with getting and keeping the track in shape all night, they never gave up!” Ryan said.

When the race resumed, the Quality Auto Body number 89 raced to the front and held over a straight away lead over Tanner and Bishop as the laps began to count down. Stefanie Palmai Carberry appeared to be making moves, as she battled with her brother in law Eddie Wagner for fourth, each swapping positions until eventually Wagner won the battle, setting his sights on third place.

Stillwaggon, who continued to strengthen his lead, began his encounter with heavy lapped traffic, later explaining how he was nervous not because he didn’t trust the course of the slower cars ahead, but because the track began to get tighter exiting the corners, and he was just hoping to get around everyone without losing concentration on the lead.

With two more cautions plaguing the end of the race, one for Brendon Poff flipping in turn two after contact with a yuke tire, and the other for Bryant Davis who spun with four laps to go, Stillwaggon had just one thing to conquer and then was holding on to that top spot.

“Before that last caution, few laps before, I jumped the cushion while maneuvering around lapped traffic, and we ended up bending the front pan hard bar, and wrecking the radiator tray, which resulted in cracking the actual radiator,” Ryan explained. “I lost a lot of water and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the temperature gauge, which never went down because the amount of water that was lost, so I was nervous. I just had to make sure I hit all of my marks, and using the cushion to my advantage, we were able to just cruise around the top. I lost a race here a few years ago because I switched my lanes and went to the bottom, so having that in the back of my mind, I made sure not to make that mistake again”.

This was Stillwaggon’s second win of the season, and his first at Grandview Speedway Inc.. Twenty-two cars signed into the nights activities for the Freiberger Excavating sponsored night, with three heat races going to Austin Bishop, Eddie Wagner and David Bonner. Along with the heat race winners receiving $50 cash from series sponsors Competition Suspension Inc., Freiberger Excavating and Professional Design Services, Kelly Racing Fuels awarded each victor with five gallons of free fuel.

The heat races saw plenty of action, with multiple cars exiting the track on stretchers, especially in heat number two when Samantha Lieberman, Joe Kay and Jon Haegele all were involved in an accident, where Lieberman ended up needing additional medical attention at the hospital. She was released the following day with a concussion and a bruised abdomen.

Dave Brown collected the $25 Bruce’s Auto Body award for advancing six positions (11th to 5th) and the Thayer Performance Burning Rubber challenge award which is a brand-new Hoosier Tire Midwest, Inc. Racing Tire RaceSaver Sprint Series spec right rear tire. Jon Haegele took home $25 for the worst pill draw, courtesy of Professional Design Services. Austin Bishop grabbed the $25 Bitner Automotive “Lightning Fast Time of the Night” award for turning a 12.796 second lap time during his heat race. Other contingencies handed out on Saturday was a $25 gift certificate to Tim Smolenyak courtesy of Todd’s Performance, and a $25 Diversified Machine, Inc. / DMI / BullDog Rears gift certificate to Scott Lutz for being the recipient of the Hard Luck award.

The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series returns for the final time this season on Saturday, October 28th at Georgetown Speedway on day two of the Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend. The Sprints will be completing a full night’s program for a higher purse, with a special giveaway courtesy of race sponsor ERK Steering.
