Seth Bergman Wins Wild Friday Dirt Cup Prelim
Bryan Hulbert - ALGER, Wash. (June 22, 2018) If ever a race could be called wild, Friday's preliminary A-Feature of the 47th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino Resort fits the bill as Seth Bergman came through the field from 16th for his third win of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.
Keeping clear of a myriad of crashes, the win also propelled Seth back to the top of the National Tour point standings by six markers over Blake Hahn as Sam Hafertepe, Jr., who led the standings coming into Dirt Cup, fell to third by 27 points.
"The first part of the race was pretty hectic, and I knew it was going to be important to stay out of trouble. A lot of guys were getting a lot of damage, and I wanted to make sure we got through there with a car that could complete, and sure enough we had a car that was really, really, fast," stated Seth who avoided a pair of red flag incidents that saw four drivers getting upside down before the field could complete the first lap.
"I just really proud of my guys, I know we had a rough night last night which is out of character for us, but we kept our heads held high, came out tonight, and got the job done. We had a little luck there at the beginning but as the race went on, we really got rolling"
Moving to ninth on the lineup before the field completed a lap, Seth raced inside the top-ten before mounting a charge into the top-five on Lap 10. Caution on Lap 15, the restart saw Bergman and Michael Kofoid battling before the rear axle snapped on the No. 8r, sending the young California driver flipping coming off the fourth turn.
Resulting in an open red, the restart was short lived as Joey Saldana spun to a stop. Underway once more, Seth kept his momentum up by letting the car run up the track from the bottom through the first and second turns in order to catch the cushion. Picking off Scott Bogucki and J.J. Hickle, the Corridor Electric No. 23 wasted no time in running down second place, Jason Solwold. Clearing the No. 18 before the red lights blinked on again for Trey Starks, the field went back to green with six laps to run.
With Rilat at the helm, the BDS Motorsports No. 1 was smooth around the bottom groove as Bergman returned to his familiar line. With the run set, Seth pulled the trigger the following lap. On Rilat's back bumper entering the first turn, Seth again swung to the wall. Diving under Travis into turn-three, Seth slid his way into the lead on Lap 21.
Not wavering from his line, Seth ran away to a 2.000-second advantage over Travis Rilat with Jason Solwold making the final podium step. From 10th, Scott Bogucki finished fourth. With two consistent nights, the Australian shoe will lead the field to the green in Saturday's $15,000 to win feature event. With the win, Bergman will start outside the front row.
The night's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger, Colton Heath clawed his way to fifth after starting 21st. J.J. Hickle slipped to sixth with Brock Lemley seventh. Matt Covington from 19th made it to eighth with Logan Forler and Roger Crockett to make up the top-ten.
The 47th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino Resort wraps up on Saturday, June 23 with Opening Ceremonies at 7:00 P.M. (PDT). Ticket information, directions, and more can be found online at www.skagitspeedway.com.

HULSEY HUSSLES TO FIRST WAR SPRINT VICTORY
LEBANON, MO (June 22, 2018) - Taking the top spot from early leader Wesley Smith, Ty Hulsey earned his first career POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint win at Lebanon Midway Speedway on Friday night after starting third.
Smith took command early as he was chased by Hulsey. Smith would lead the first seven laps before Hulsey was able to move by around the outside and take command.
Also moving forward was Joe B. Miller. Miller would work his way past Smith on lap eleven and set his sights on Hulsey. Hulsey was able to withstand a few challenges from Miller when the yellow flag came out with twenty-two laps complete as Slater Helt and Jack Wagner spun to a stop after contact with another competitor. Both drivers would be done for the evening.
On the restart, Hulsey again would take command and it appeared that he was headed for the checkered flag when the yellow would wave again for Todd McVay, who spun in turn one.
Hulsey was again up to the challenge on the restart as he took the Risley Trash Service/ Auto Glass Unlimited XXX with Risley power under the hood to his first ever WAR win. Miller was second in the Matt McGarry Motorsports/McGarry Machine and Welding MRP with Gaerte power. Zach Daum was the Indy Race Parts Hard Charger as he finished third after starting fourteenth in the Daum Crop Insurance/5D Composites DRC with Stanton power. Quinton Benson was fourth as he was followed by Riley Kreisel. Wesley Smith would finish sixth as he was followed by Chris Parkinson. Chance Morton was eighth with Craig Carroll and Pete Palazzolo rounding out the top ten.
The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprints will be in action again on Saturday, June 23 at the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. The previous races there this season have produced two first time winners in Riley Kreisel and Mario Clouser.

Accord, NY- Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer have kept pace or possibly even a step or two ahead of the weather in 2018 and the racing has been beyond spectacular with both track regulars and newcomers enjoying the spoils of victory in the WRWD Radio Victory Lane. The Palmer Family presented a six division show on Friday evening that went off like clockwork. The weather cooperated fully and the picture perfect scenery of the Catskills Mountains scenery continually makes the trip to the speedway a pleasant experience. Friday night produced another of those great nights as another great crowd was on hand to enjoy the evening of speed sponsored by the good folks at Kingston Nissan. (www.kingstonnissan.net)
"The KF Flyer" Kenny Ferrier ran to daylight at the drop of the green flag and enjoyed an outstanding drive to capture his Modified win of the season at Accord and his first win since 2016 in the Insinger Fuels Modified finale. "Kid Ice" Cole Hentschel captured his win of the season in the Arkel Motors Sportsman main event. Defending track champion Travis Brockner rolled to his second win of the season in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock feature attraction. "The Travelin Man" Mick D’Agostino continued his winning ways by capturing his third win of the season in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature. Charles Loiodice had the hot ticket and he punched it on his way to his second win of the season in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature. The Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder feature was captured by Jerry Kingeter as he was triumphant for the fourth time this year.
Eddie Burgess and Kenny Ferrier brought the field down for the start of the Insinger Fuels 30-lap headliner for the Modifieds. Ferrier found daylight off of turn two and grabbed the lead with Burgess, Jesse Marks and Joe Judge in tow. Ferrier was able to build a good size lead until the first caution came out for a spinning Nick Johnson. On the restart Ferrier again pulled away while Burgess settled in to the runner-up role. Behind the pair, the action was sizzling with a trio of hot rods making their way through the field to contend. Jimmy Wells led the group of hopefuls to the front and he battled hard with each pass he made as the real estate was at a premium. Anthony Perrego and Jerry Higbie were changing lanes at will as they moved forward.
With ten laps remaining, Ferrier began to find slower traffic and with fine precision was able to slip past them with Burgess moving closer to Ferrier as the remaining laps clicked off. Ferrier was not to be stopped on this night as he flashed under the checkered flag with Burgess in the runner-up role in an excellent ride. Wells would finish third in his Upstate Auto wagon with Perrego and Higbie completing the top five. Mike Ricci headed up the second five with Joe Judge, Jesse Marks, Rich Ricci Jr and Allison Ricci completing the top ten.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman event found polesitter RJ Smith hustling into the lead at the drop of the green flag. Smith found the track to his liking and would lead through the first twelve laps of the event. On lap-13, Cole Hentschel worked the baseline to perfection and slipped past Smith and also brought along a dance partner in Kyle Rohner. The remainder of the event found Rohner making a couple of bids for the point but Hentschel was able to defend his position and would go on to capture his first win of the 2018 season. Rohner would finish second with RJ Smith third in a great run, Danny Morgiewicz fourth and Tyler Johnston finalizing the top five. Heading up the next five spaces were Mike Senecal, Leo Fotopoulos, Chris VanDuser, Matt Shultz and Anthony Recchio.
Charles Loiodice raced into the lead from outside pole at the start of the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman headliner. Loiodice had a great car under him and clocked of the fastest time of the night going 13.741 seconds. A couple of scrambles slowed the field in the early laps but once settled in the rookie stars put on a great show with Loiodice in a league of his own on this night and walking away with his second win of the season. Travis Green hustled to second with Cole Stangle third. Samantha Muller was involved in a couple of those scrambles but worked her way back to fourth place while John Brown completed the top five. Robbie Colbyrn finsihed sixth while Mike Travis, Erin Paulison, Jared Miller and Kyle Swart completed the top ten.
In the Upstate Auto Pure Stock event, Travis Brockner seized the moment as he took control of the point at the start and would lead all of the way to gain his second feature win of the season. Livy Johnson would settle for runner-up honors while John Drake, Emerson Cargain, John Hechinger, Ray Tarantino, Steve Williams and Rich Scott followed.
Mick D'Agostino would jump into the lead off of turn four at the start in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint feature. D'Agostino would lead all of the way as he withstood many challenges from Bobby Tersillo to go on and secure his third win of the season at Accord. Things did not go well for Tersillo, however, as while racing in second spot on lap-19 Tersillo tried to make a move on D'Agostino that didn't pan out and Tersiilo's hot rod went over, under and sideways down in a spectacular series of flips on the frontstretch and coming to rest in turn one. Tersillo was okay from the scary incident but the racer suffered heavy damage and was cradled off the racing surface. Jordan Lawrence would finish second in his best run to date while Mike Traver was third, Dan Malley fourth, and Mark Conolly fifth.
In the Fireballers feature, Richard Smith was the early leader until he hit the unforgiving backstretch boiler plate and sent his right front tire down the track without him. ED King inherited the lead but would give way to the high flying Jerry Kingeter. Once in front, Kingeter checked out on the field and raced to his fourth win of the season. King would finish second with Brandon Conklin, Anthony Tarantino and Nicole Nelson completing the field.
GEMSTONES:
The hotly contested racing action was completed at 10:39 PM.
Heat wins went to Joe Judge, Kenny Ferrier and Jesse Marks in the Modified division. Three heats were needed for the Sportsman with wins going to RJ Smith, Kyle Rohner and Cole Hentshel. The Rookie Sportsman heats were claimed by Joe Coppola, Charles Loiodice and John Brown. Mick D'Agostino and Jordan Lawrence captured the sprint car heat wins. The Pure Stock heat wins were captured by Travis Brockner and John Drake. Fireball heat winners included Jeff DeGroat and Richard Smith.
New additions to the speedway included Mike Kolka and Steve Davis in the Modifieds. DAvis had a great run going in his first time back in two years but he was debuting a freshly minted race car and broke off a shock mount while threading his way through the field. Kolka was an early departure in the feature. Kolka was in a Everett Haubrich owned racer.
Joe Toth was on hand, making the tow up from Lower Makefield Township on the outskirts of Philadelphia. Joe had competed at Accord in the past in the Slingshots but if not mistaken took his first tour in a full sized race car. Hunter Lapp returned to action after missing a week due to a health issue. Hunter explained he is feeling good and was happy to return to the racing wars.
Kyle Swart was a new addition to the Rookies.
In a nice gesture, the Kanuk Brothers lent Ray Tarantino their car last night as Tarantino's car was suffering engine maladies.

LIMA, Ohio (June 22, 2018) - Heavy rain throughout the day Thursday, as well as heavy rain predicted throughout the day Friday, has forced Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 officials to cancel Friday’s Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing visit to Limaland Motorsports Park.
Heavy precipitation on Thursday left most of the facility under water, and with high percentages of additional rain in the forecast for Friday, the track will be left with very little, if any drying time.
The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will conclude the 36th edition of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing back at Atomic Speedway on Saturday, June 23, this time battling for a $10,000 top prize during the inaugural Rick Ferkel Classic.
In addition, Wednesday’s Ohio Sprint Speedweek night six feature from Atomic Speedway, which was washed out just as cars were beginning to stage, will also be conducted on Saturday evening. Rick Ferkel Classic hot laps and qualifying will take shape first at Atomic Speedway on Saturday, followed by Wednesday’s make-up feature, then concluding with all remaining preliminary action and the $10,000-to-win Rick Ferkel Classic main event.
The 2018 Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing champion will also be crowned on Saturday night. The 2018 champion will receive a $3,000 payday.
Atomic Speedway will open pit gates at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. The All Star drivers meeting will take shape at 5:30 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6 p.m., sharp. If needed, Atomic Speedway and All Star officials will utilize the previously scheduled rain date of Sunday, June 24. Rain Forces Cancellation of World of Outlaws Event at Farley Speedway
FARLEY, IA — June 22, 2018 —Continued heavy rain throughout the week that has left the pit area and the grounds flooded at Farley Speedway in Iowa, has led to the cancellation of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event originally scheduled at the track for Friday, June 22. The event will not be re-scheduled.
Those who bought tickets in advance will receive a full refund at the point of purchase.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to action on Saturday, June 23 at Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin for the 9thAnnual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Dominates 47th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup Opener
Bryan Hulbert - ALGER, Wash. (June 21, 2018) No driver has ever won the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt three years in a row, but Sam Hafertepe, Jr. is on the right path to do so as the Hills Racing No. 15h led start to finish to open the 47th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino Resort.
"We were actually off tonight. Not far, but we've had better cars here over the past few years but to come out tonight and do what we did, and to get through lapped traffic, it was tough tonight," explained Hafertepe of his fourth career Skagit Speedway victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com. "With the track laying rubber on the bottom, it was tough for me to move off the top because we were so good up there but hats off to my guys. They've really worked hard this week."
Working through the Heat/Qualifier format to grid the A-Feature outside the front row, Hafertepe chased Wayne Johnson through the first two turns before roaring around the cushion to grab the lead down the back straightaway.
Pulling to a straightaway advantage in a matter of laps, Sam would start picking his way through slower traffic as Johnson worked to hold off Blake Hahn for the runner-up spot. Making up half the distance as traffic ran all lines of the Skagit Speedway, the race for second went the way of Hahn on Lap 10.
Not able to make up any more ground as Hafertepe found room to run through traffic, the race finally slowed working Lap 21 for Travis Rilat as the BDS Motorsports No. 1 hooked the cushion in the first turn; slamming the front end into the wall while running third.
Back to Lap 20 with several slower cars restarting among the leaders, Hafertepe was able to run away to a 1.769-second advantage over Hahn at the drop of the checkered flag. Mounting a charge in the closing laps, Robbie Price worked from seventh to the final podium step for his best career National Tour finish in the family backed No. 21p.
Wayne Johnson ended up fourth with Roger Crockett rebounding from a slow start to the night that saw the No. 11 fight through a B-Feature to qualify for the A-Feature. Johnny Herrera in sixth was trailed by Skylar Gee who moved up from 12th. Making his first Skagit Speedway start, Australia's Scott Bogucki crossed eighth with J.J. Hickle and Garen Linder wrapping up the top-ten.
The 47th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino Resort continues on Friday, June 22 with gates opening at 5:30 P.M., followed by Opening Ceremonies at 7:00 P.M. (PDT). Ticket information, directions, and more can be found online at www.skagitspeedway.com.

SUNDAY SEE THE OUTLAW ENDURO AND VINTAGE RACING ACTION
BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 22, 2018 . . . Animal lovers and racing fans are invited for another action packed night of NASCAR stock car racing on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway featuring the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman racers. The NASCAR Sportsman stock cars will be featured in the Summer Splash 40 paying $1,500 to win and sure to attract special attention from racers and fans. In addition it will be a Safety Net Sanctuary Raffle Fundraiser to help the animal sanctuary located in nearby Fleetwood offering protection to all types of animals.
Raffle tickets will be sold with lucky ticket buyers winning some great prizes from local businesses and race teams. In addition there will be receptacles in place to donate dry and canned dog and cat food. And there will be some animals on display.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. At 5 p.m in an area near the main gate the Low Down and Dirty Internet Radio Show will be offering another of their very popular Meet and Greet sessions. This week Sportsman racer Jesse Landis and Modified standout Ron Kline will be greeting fans and showing off their race cars.
Adult admission for this special night of racing is $20, youngsters 6 thru 11 are admitted for $5 and kids under 6 pay NOTHING.
Sunday afternoon, 1 p.m., the Outlaw Enduros and Blast from the Past Vintage racers will be in action. Adult admission is just $10.
