BECHTELSVILLE, PA (June 19, 2018) – It’s one of the most anticipated events of the racing calendar and for the 24th year the Pennsylvania Posse elite group of racers charge towards the high banks on the hill to salute sprint car racing in the Keystone state.
NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series plays host to the Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek on Tuesday, July 3 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. The Speedweek event is presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings and features the 410 Sprint Cars and the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, in an exciting doubleheader.
The Grandview Speedweek event features a 35-lap Sprint Car A-Main -- the fifth race of a ten-race stretch for the winged warriors. Drivers from across the region will compete for a $7,000 winner’s share. Tenth place will pay $1,050 with $400 to start the A-main.
Also on the card, Grandview’s own NASCAR 358 Modifieds battle in a 30-lap event, with $3,000 up for grabs.
Time Trials for the 410 Sprint Cars will open the show on Tuesday, July 3 at 7:30 PM. The pit gates will open at 2:30 PM and the Grandstands will open at 5:00 PM. Fans can up-close to the drivers and their mighty machines with the Low Down and Dirty Meet and Greet kicking off at 5:00 PM.
General Admission Adult tickets are $28, Children ages 6-11 are $10, and Under 6 is Free of charge! Pit admission is $35, and no license is required.
With no regular Sprint Car action, drivers from all of the central Pennsylvania hotbeds are anxious to get on the neutral ground that Grandview provides. Expected entrants include Danny Dietrich; Greg Hodnett, an 8-time winner at Grandview Speedway; Lucas Wolfe, Ryan Smith, Freddie Rahmer, Brandon Rahmer, and Alan Krimes.
In 2017, a late race incident with leader Ryan Smith handed the top spot over to NASCAR-star Kyle Larson, who would go on to claim the Grandview Speedway Speedweek victory.
The Grandview small-block Modified stars will be out in full force defending their home turf: Brett Kressley, Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Jared Umbenhauer and Doug Manmiller.
Advance tickets are on sale now and may be ordered by calling 443-513-4456. Please provide your name and the number of tickets requested. Tickets may be picked up and paid for on race night after 4:00 PM. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM, one-half hour prior to the sale of General Admission tickets. Advance tickets will be available until 9 AM on race day. General Admission tickets go on sale at 5 PM.
Fans may camp out at the Speedway for the ultimate Speedweek experience. Campers are asked to park in the turn 4 parking area, there are no hook-ups available, and no box camping allowed. Track officials ask that all fires be contained. There is no fee for camping.

York Haven, PA........Alex Bright of Royersford, Pa. won Sunday night's 20-lap USAC Eastern Midget feature at BAPS Motor Speedway, leading the final 17 laps after passing Ryan Greth on lap four. Steve Buckwalter took second at the checkered flag ahead of Greth, Kenny Miller and new series point leader Andrew Layser.

MADMAN BALLOU TAPS BAPS FOR FIRST VICTORY OF 2018

York Haven, Pennsylvania....June 17, 2018 - A lot of the pub lately has gone to a core group of racers who've dominated the win column this season.
One driver notably absent from that group coming into Sunday night's round 4 of "Eastern Storm" at BAPS Motor Speedway was the second-winningest active driver in the series, one who's eyes hadn't laid sight on victory lane in 11 months.
Despite that, Robert Ballou never doubted he would soon return to the promised land. The tide was turning for the 2015 series champ from Rocklin, California native in recent weeks and it was only a matter of time before the Robert Ballou Motorsports/Suburban Subaru - Berks Western Telecom - J. Davidson Scrap Metal/Twister-X/Ott Chevy would be back on the front page.
"I know I can do it," Ballou reiterates. "There's never been a doubt in my mind that I couldn't do it. I just need the tools. I've been going around and round with (crew chief) Jimmy Jones, who's basically taught me everything I know about sprint car racing. He said the car looked fine. It didn't feel fine, I don't care what it looked like. He only has one eye, so I keep saying 'maybe you're looking out of the wrong eye because this thing's just terrible. If you'll give me what I want, I'll win the damn race.' Finally, the last couple nights, we've pretty much been doing it Robert's way. It's not that I know what I'm doing because I'm pretty much a dumbass or I wouldn't be owning a sprint car, but if I can get comfortable, I can do this every night."
Ballou's 29th career USAC National Sprint Car victory moved him past Levi Jones and J.J. Yeley into sole possession of 13th on the all-time list. His 31-race winless streak coming into BAPS was chock full of changes in crew chiefs, chassis, shocks, what have you. But the mentality and the mindset of Ballou had never wavered, and like Frank Sinatra, he prefers to do it his way.
"We just keep changing racecars," Ballou said. "Unfortunately, in the game of motorsports, I don't want to say there's a lot of mental, but there's a lot of mental. If you're comfortable, you're comfortable. If you're not, you're not. I haven't been comfortable other than when I run my old racecars. We've tried everything, and I haven't felt comfortable. It's one of those deals in which I have no choice at this point but to find racecars that make me comfortable. This thing here is from 2006. Not too many people would even bring a car from 2006 to the racetrack. It makes me feel comfortable and makes me feel like I can do what I need to do. Ultimately, then, I can give forth a better effort."
"I know I didn't get as many wins as I have at this point from not being able to do it," Ballou points out. "Some people have doubted me. Some people say I haven't been comfortable since my crash. Ultimately, I know I've been comfortable a few times when I went back to my old cars. Everyone else runs new cars and you think you need a new car, but maybe I just need an old car. They don't even make the shocks that I run anymore. They haven't made them for like three or four years now."
Ballou occupied the outside of the second row at the beginning of the 30-lap main event as pole sitter Dave Darland jumped out front at the start, sliding to the top side in turn one. Fifth-starting Windom had won the previous two nights at Williams Grove and Port Royal and looked every bit as capable on this night of becoming the third driver in the history of Eastern Storm to win three-in-a-row (Levi Jones in 2010 & Ballou in 2015) when he slid past Isaac Chapple in turn three to slot into second by the end of the first lap.
Meanwhile, back in third was Ballou who, despite being overtaken by Windom on the opening lap, felt it in his mind, body, soul and his right foot that he was going to be a contender. Although, at first, the confidence was more confidential.

"I didn't realize they watered the track and I thought, man my car really sucks. Maybe I need to pull off and try again. I noticed everyone else was spinning their tires. It was pretty greasy for a lap or two so that let us get it buzzed in. I knew right away that I had a racecar that was probably a top-three car. When we took off, I got a really good run into one. By the second lap, I knew, unless they weren't showing their whole hand - sometimes it's a poker game around here - as long as they were showing their full hand, I had them covered."
By lap three, Windom was already staking his claim for the top spot when he threw a slider on Darland entering turn one. Windom swept past, but Darland crossed over and out-drag raced Windom down the back straight, beating him into turn three to reclaim his lead.
The very next lap, it was déjà vu all over again, with Darland able to withstand the Windom assault momentarily off turn two. Windom, the 2016 BAPS Eastern Storm winner, was steadfast in his stick-to-itiveness, hitting pay dirt off turn four a half-lap later to drive under Darland for the race lead.
On lap six, Ballou blitzed past Darland for the runner-up spot inside off turn two, then instantly clamped down on the defending Eastern Storm and USAC National Sprint champ for first. Lap eight saw Ballou attempt to pounce, but Windom sensed it, taking the middle line, sliding himself instead, to prevent the opposing slider on the entry into turn one.
Over the next lap and a half, the two would flip-flop the lead on both ends of the track with a bound and determined Ballou successfully capturing the point off turn four. Sometimes when you're in the zone, you feel like a superhero. It's something we all marvel at. And that left Ballou no doubt that this race was firmly in his hands and, ultimately, was his race to lose.

Ballou would be mired in lapped traffic for the bulk of the remaining two-thirds of the feature, only allowing Windom to pull as close as four car-lengths to Ballou down the stretch in a torrid caution-free pace. Windom hung within the length of a regulation-size tug-of-war rope with the checkered in sight. But a right rear tap of the of the turn two outside guardrail with two laps remaining courtesy of Windom all but put the winner's trophy on the top shelf, too far to reach.
Ballou's navigation led him to victory lane for the first time this season over Windom, Courtney, Thomas and Timmy Buckwalter. Furthermore, he became the first two-time USAC Sprint Car winner at BAPS.
Ballou moves into third in the latest Eastern Storm standings with a pair of races remaining Monday at New Jersey's Bridgeport Speedway and Tuesday at New York's Weedsport Speedway. Windom remains the leader by a mere six points over Thomas with Ballou, standing 26 markers back from the lead.

Aaron Reutzel drives by Kyle Larson to claim round three of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing at Waynesfield
WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (June 17, 2018) - Becoming the third different Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing main event winner in as many nights, Clute, Texas’ own Aaron Reutzel did what seemed to be the impossible on Sunday night during his visit to Waynesfield Raceway Park and drove around NASCAR star Kyle Larson to pick up his third Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event victory of the 2018 season.
Ending a chase that commenced on the opening circuit, Aaron Reutzel made his winning move on lap 19, ultimately driving around race-long leader Larson as the pair battled down the back straightaway. Reutzel was on the heels of the Elk Grove, Calif., native for a number of circuits before making his move, keeping his Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports machine within just a few car lengths as the duo raced through traffic that started to assemble as early as lap 13.
Once in command, it was semi-smooth sailing for Reutzel, keeping upwards of four lapped cars between himself and Larson for the rest of the 35-lap distance. Unfortunately for Larson, an abrasive surface that eventually led to a rubbered-up surface around the bottom of the speedway kept the recent Eldora winner from making up any ground on Reutzel.
Lockbourne, Ohio’s Cole Duncan crossed under the final checkers just behind Reutzel and Larson, followed by Dave Blaney and Speedweek opening night winner Paul McMahan.
“I was really hoping to get the jump during the initial start,” Aaron Reutzel said, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Precision Catalyst/No. 87 entry. “Kyle (Larson) started to move down the track because he knew the rubber was coming. At that point, I was just searching for something else; anything I could do to get by him before things got locked-down. I think after I got by him, it was locked-down two laps later. I figured if I could get to the front, I would be OK, but you can never be too sure about Kyle. You can never count him out of anything.”
Aaron Reutzel and Kyle Larson led the field to green on Sunday night at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Larson earned the early jump, leading Reutzel, Duncan, and Spencer Bayston by the flagstand for the first time.
The first seven circuits went non-stop for Larson, just beginning to race into traffic when the main event’s first and only caution appeared on lap eight. Up until that point, Larson was in complete control, utilizing all lanes of the 1/3-mile, high-banked, dirt oval to maintain a quick pace.
After green flag conditions returned, Reutzel was able to keep Larson in range, actually moving in within a car length as the laps clicked near halfway. Reutzel’s winning move started one lap prior, using a big run off of turn four on the 18th circuit to pressure Larson in turns one and two. Reutzel’s momentum on the topside was greater than Larson’s through the middle, utilizing just enough boost from the thin, narrow cushion to drive by Larson on lap 19.
“John Folkens is actually with us here tonight. He is in the stands so I can’t thank him enough for what he does for this team. It’s really cool to get this done with him here,” Aaron Reutzel continued. “My team gave me a great race car here tonight. I just can’t thank everyone enough.”
Continuing the 36th edition of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will switch directions and head east, set to invade a pair of ovals in the northeast corner of the state for Speedweek rounds four and five on Monday and Tuesday, June 18 & 19. Wayne County Speedway, just outside of Orrville, will be the next to host Tony Stewart’s All Stars on Monday evening, June 18.

Pittman Powers to 4th Win of Season at Nodak
MINOT, ND – June 17, 2018 – Daryn Pittman passed Cory Eliason on Lap 22 and never looked back, winning his fourth World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Feature of 2018 Sunday evening at Nodak Speedway. Pittman hounded the California native for the majority of the race before making the race-winning move in turn one. Pittman’s Kasey Kahne Racing teammate Brad Sweet finished second with Donny Schatz completing the podium.
Eliason won the Sears Craftsman Dash to earn the pole of the 30-lap Feature in his first career start at Nodak Speedway. Eliason powered away on the initial start, as Pittman maneuvered underneath front row starter David Gravell to take command of second down the backstretch of the opening circuit.
The lone caution of the event flew for Jack Croaker on Lap 5. Eliason again motored away on the ensuing restart as Pittman had his hands full with his KKR teammate Sweet. Sweet had the second position at the line on Lap 6, but Pittman muscled back underneath to take the position back the next lap.
Eliason set a strong pace out front in search of his second career Outlaw triumph. But as Eliason worked lapped traffic, the rest of the field closed in. At the halfway point, a blanket could be thrown over the top five.
Pittman reached Eliason’s tail tank on multiple occasions, looking for a way around the Roth Motorsports No.83. Pittman pulled even with Eliason in turn one on Lap 18, but the latter maintained the lead with momentum around the top down the backstretch.
Pittman got another run, this time on the top of three and four, that propelled his Ionomy-sponsored No.9 to the lead into turn one on Lap 22. From there, Pittman proved he was the class of the field, distancing himself and getting through lapped traffic like the veteran he is.
While Pittman pulled away, the war continued behind him. Sweet, Eliason, Schatz and Gravel all jockeyed for position in heavy traffic. Sweet, who at this point had lost his brakes completely, and Schatz shuffled Eliason back to fourth on Lap 25.
Out front though, it was all Daryn Pittman, who went on to win by more than three seconds for his fourth win of the year.
“My car was really good all night long from the moment we unloaded,” Pittman, who set Quick Time and won his Heat Race, said.
“The last few weeks we’ve really been hitting stride. I love winning before we have a week off and I love winning on Father’s Day, I am extremely blessed to travel with my wife and kids out here,” Pittman, the 2007 Outlaw winner at Nodak, added before thanking the large crowd for coming out on a Sunday.
Sweet was pleased with another runner-up finish.
“We were battling with Daryn and Cory the whole race, I actually lost brakes with around ten laps to go and I was just hanging on. You don’t realize how much you need brakes until they are gone,” Sweet said with a smile. “We’ll take another second place and move on to next week,” the Grass Valley, CA native added.
North Dakota’s own Donny Schatz was in good spirits after finishing third and thanked the large crowd for coming out on Father’s Day. “Obviously, we would have liked to get a win, but to be out here on Father’s Day in Minot was great. Thanks to all the fans for their support these past 25 years and for supporting dirt track racing,” Schatz added.
Last year’s winner at Nodak, David Gravel settled for fourth with Eliason getting shuffled back to fifth. Sheldon Haudenschild earned KSE Hard Charger honors coming from 13th to finish sixth. Logan Schuchart, Brent Marks, Ian Madsen and Dominic Scelzi completed the top ten at Nodak.

Sunn Stays Hot with Topless Sportsman Win at Devil’s Bowl Speedway
Roberts dominates Limiteds for first dirt victory
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Josh Sunn continued his hot start to the Modified stock car racing season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, June 17, taking his second victory of the year at the annual Central Vermont Motorcycles Father’s Day “Topless” event. Also cracking into the winner’s circle during the event were Joey Roberts, Chris Murray, Mike Preston, and Austin Chaves.
With the roofs removed from the Sportsman Modified cars in the annual special “topless” event, White River Junction, Vt., driver Sunn ran an exciting race from 16th place at the start. Among his many impressive maneuvers in traffic was an unbelievable pass while racing five-wide in Turn 2. It took Sunn just 13 laps to get to the lead, passing by Vince Quenneville Jr. to take command.
Veteran driver Jimmy Ryan put together a multi-lane blast through traffic from 10th starting position for the runner-up spot. Quenneville turned a miserable month around by leading a dozen circuits of the 30-lap race and finishing third. Brian Whittemore had an outstanding run to finish fourth, and David Schilling came from 18th to grab his second-straight top five run.
Point leader Kenny Tremont Jr. finished sixth, Justin Comes was seventh, James Fadden took eighth, Tim LaDuc came home ninth, and Jake Scarborough completed the top 10. Comes, Quenneville, and Frank Hoard Jr. won the qualifying heat races.
Joey Roberts of Fletcher, Vt., scored an emotional win in the 25-lap O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman feature, dominating the field for his first victory on dirt. Roberts, whose last win was in the “topless” event on the former Devil’s Bowl asphalt track in 2016, led the final 15 laps of the race and won by nearly half of a lap.
Three-time winner Travis Billington came from 15th at the start to finish second and Brent Warren had his strongest showing so far in third place. Adam Piper and Josh Rozelle rounded out the top five, followed by Paolo Pascarella, Matt Bilodeau, Kyle Hoard, Mike Parodi, and Dan Lyle. Roberts and Warren won the qualifying heats, and Warren, Piper, and Dan Lyle also led laps in the feature.
Chris Murray of Fair Haven, Vt., was once again a convincing winner in the Super Stock division, topping the field for his third win of the young season. Josh Bussino was a solid second for his best run of the year, and Billy Duprey, Curtis Condon, and Kevin Elliott completed the top five in the 20-lapper.
Mike Preston of Panton, Vt., parked his car in victory lane for the second time in the Portland Glass Mini Stock division’s 20-lap race. Kaleb Shepard put up a fight with Preston as the two traded lead; Shepard tied his career-best finish in second place. Jason Porter, Mike Lique, and Derrick Counter ran 3-4-5, respectively.
Austin Chaves of Chester, Vt., gave his dad, Andy, a nice Father’s Day gift with his first win of the year in the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprint division. Sixteen year-old Chaves – the defending champion – had nothing but bad luck prior to Sunday’s race, but rebounded with a large margin of victory in the wingless race. Brandon Emerson took second ahead of Cody O’Brien, Erick Mulready, and Samantha Mulready.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s next event is “Throwback Night” on Sunday, June 24, when the restored old-time racecars come in from the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series and the new Champlain Valley Vintage Modified Series. Sportsman Modifieds, Limited Sportsmen, Super Stocks, and Mini Stocks will race as well as the Bandit Youth Mini Stock division. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for teens (13-17), and free for kids age 12 and under. Racing starts at 6:00 p.m.

Kyle Larson holds back Carson Macedo and Dave Blaney for Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing victory at The Big E
ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 16, 2018) - After spending the entire morning and an early portion of the afternoon rebuilding a car in the hotel parking lot, Elk Grove, California’s Kyle Larson rewarded his crew in a big way on Saturday night by claiming round two of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing at the world-famous Eldora Speedway. Larson’s first-ever Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 triumph at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track was accomplished his fantastic fashion, climbing ahead from eighth on the starting grid, ultimately withstanding a last lap surge by the “Buckeye Bullet” Dave Blaney to score the $5,000 payday.
Fellow California native Carson Macedo would sneak by Blaney in the final two corners to finish second at the final checkers, followed by Blaney, Tim Shaffer, and Clute, Texas, native Aaron Reutzel.
“I’m so happy to get it done here tonight for my guys. Paul Silva and the crew built this car this morning; this is a brand new car from the tires up. We got here just in time to catch the drivers meeting and get in the seat for hot laps,” Kyle Larson said, driver of the Paul Silva-owned/Brandt/Eneos/Finley Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 57 sprinter. “I made a mistake last night and it cost us a car. This really makes up for that. I’ve now won in every kind of car I have ever raced here at Eldora. That’s pretty cool considering I’ve only raced here like ten times.”
Forced to start on the outside of row four by way of dash result, Larson, who was taking advantage of an off-weekend from NASCAR competition to battle with Tony Stewart’s All Stars, wasted little time advancing to the front of the field, boosting himself to fourth as the front-runners raced by the flagstand for the first time.
By lap seven, Larson worked his way to second, now in pursuit of race-long leader, Aaron Reutzel, who owned a commanding lead equalling just over two seconds. Just two circuits later, Larson was on the tail tank of Reutzel, chasing the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports entry through turns one and two on lap ten, eventually utilizing a slingshot move off of the corner to squeeze between Reutzel and a lapped car as the leaders raced down the back straightaway. Larson’s brave move worked, leading Reutzel to the line to officially lead lap ten.
Although impressive, Larson’s first campaign at the front of the field was short-lived as Dave Blaney was able to put the moves on the NASCAR star by using his preferred line through the middle of the speedway. Soon enough, Blaney caught Larson to take command on lap 13.
A pair of cautions on lap 17 and lap 19 gave Larson two opportunities to regain the top spot from the former World of Outlaws champion. Although the first attempt failed, unable to drive by the Premier Motorsports entry as the pair raced through turns one and two on lap 17, the second attempt proved to be more successful, allowing Larson to build enough momentum on the topside of the speedway to chase down Blaney by lap 23. On lap 24, Larson made a perfect bid for the race lead by sticking a textbook slider between turns one and two. Although escaping into traffic, Blaney never gave up, actually tracking down Larson before attempting a last-ditch effort slider in turn one on the final circuit. The slidejob attempt was unsuccessful.
“I actually saw Dave (Blaney) attempt to drive under me at one point there toward the end,” Kyle Larson continued. “Once I got to the top, I could really build some momentum.”
The victory was Larson’s seventh against the All Star Circuit of Champions.
From The Big E to one of Ohio’s most competitive bullrings, Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by C&R Racing will continue on Sunday evening, June 17, with a visit to Waynesfield Raceway Park just south of Lima. Pit gates are scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m., followed by a mandatory All Star drivers meeting at 5:30 p.m. The first session of All Star hop laps is scheduled to hit the speedway at 6:10 p.m., sharp.
