By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The premier racing facility in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, the Hamlin Speedway, once again showed how to get things done last evening with an exciting show that covered all of the hard work and dedication the Smith Family has placed into the facility. The tremendous racing season thus far in 2019 and the loyal fan base and talented roster of driving stars who converge at the speedway are appreciative of all of the hard work and determination that goes into preparing an exciting and fun-filled evening of racing. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been over the top with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus. Last night some new winners graced victory lane encouraging all drivers to come out and give Hamlin a good effort.
The 2019 season is just seven weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is still coming up in the next few weeks. Heading up the headlines for last evening’s show include Kasey Hudcut, who won the Junior Slingshot event, Dale Kober who captured the All Star Slingshot win in that portion of the evening and Kober bagged a double with a win in the Super Slingshot feature as well. Dennis Stawinsky won the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless event and unherlalded Tyler LIndsay who won over a healthy field in the JPA Masonry Regular 600 Sprint main event. Tanner VanDohren captured the feature in the division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. Hunter Diehl won the X-Cell Modified event in a wire to wire run
Tyler LIndsay grabbed the lead at the start of the JPA Masonry event and hustled out to a huge lead over Mick D'Agostino. The action that took place behind the pair was stunning to say the least. Every turn and straightaway action was filled with excitement as the track was extremely racy as the drivers were able to race side by side for most of the event. By the time people began to realize Lindsay was the leader of the event, he would already be into the lapped cars of the event. Lindsay would claim the win going away with D'Agostino giving chase in second place. Paul Richards would silently make his way into third place while Dylan Martin and Colin White would round out the top five finishers. "The Big Show" Joey Amantea was a soild sixth and what a drive from "Bad" Chad Sandt as would hustle in from 13th starting position to grab up a seventh place finish on this night. Zach Weisenfluh, Joseph Smith, and Noah Zielinski followng the leaders. Mack Brink was uninjured in a high flying three car jumble in turn one.
In the Super Slinger action, Dale Kober ran away and hid to go on and claim another win at the speedway. Wes Hearn would finish in the runner-up role. Jimmy Conroy would finish third while Allan Kober was fourth and the returning Greg Zellman would finish in fifth place. Paul Ennes, The returning Roger Collins, Mark Exeter, and Gleen and Jermey Hoffman rounded out the finishers.
In the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 event, Dennis "The Menace" Stawinsky began from a front row starting place and that and a big right foot would be all he needed to collect the gold on this evening. Jacob Eby drove falwlessly through the pack to garner the runner-up slot and Tony Parlanti would hang on for third place. Dennis Chamberlain was fourth while Brandon Nicholas was fifth. Richie Maguire headed up the second five with Cody Powell, Carmen "POPS" Leggio Rich Magurie and newcomer Matt Warner filling in the blanks.
The Amantea Real Estate Junior Slingshot event found Kasey Hufcut charging forwards as the green flag fell. Hufcut finally took over the lead at lap-16 after four other leaders durung the event and won a one car length battle over fellow Charlene Benz.. Aiden Elliot Donaldson was third with James Hendricks fourth in a great run for the kid racer and Aiden Donaldson fifth. Doug Smith was sixth and Isabella VanOrden nailing down seventh place. Chase Zimmer came from the back of the pack for eighth place while newcomer Joshua Allen and Conner Mirabelli rounding out the top ten placers.
In the All Star Slingshot encounter, Dale Kober blasted into the lead at the start of the event and held off all of the competition for the win. Taylor Mills, hustled into runner-up honors with Wes Hearn back in third place. Scott Neary hustled hard to fourth place while a new face in 2019, Amber Baccaligni held off most of the competitiors coming her way. Paul Ennes continued his steady work for sixth place, while Austin Silfee, Brian Smith, Joey Kalafut, and Ashley Kober rounding out the top ten.
In the event for the Stage One Modifieds, "TVD" Tanner Van Dohren hustled around Adam Buchel on lap eight to go and win the event. Adam Buchel, Anthony Chrobak, Amanda Buchel, and Joe Price held on for top five finishes while Lawson Szerencits, Jeff Hineline, Michael Samony, Evan Civick, and Mark Evan filled out the field.
The X-Cel Modifieds returned to action at Hamlin and Huner Diehl showed the field the fast way around the clay. He won a close battle over Travis Fichter, Matt Warner, Jarrett Sechrist, and Zane Roth. Trent Warner, Kyle Fallis, Jessica Michael, Brandon Graver, Olivia Schmeltzer and Jeff Sechrist
