Hamlin, PA- Hamlin Speedway Gets Soaked After One Feature Event
The Hamlin Speedway was once again the focal point of racing activity last evening in the Pocono Mountains as the speedway hosted it's regular divisions and was buffered by the addition of the X'Cel Modified division and the Tour races for the Nationals All Stars and Junior Slingshots.. Once again the Smith Fanily was off and running with some superb heat racing action. Just after the Stage One Modifieds were completed, a heavy downpour came on to the speedway and sent everyone scrambling for cover and safety. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been over the top with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus. The racing will once again take place at the speedway Saturday evening, August 24th, beginning at 6 PM.

The 2019 season is now fourteen weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is ongoing and with the rain washing out most of Saturday's feature event, the fans will receive an additional bonus in the upcoming weeks with some additional features being made-up. To recap the action on Saturday Amanda Buchel was smooth and steady as she outlasted the rest of the field with an outstanding start and captured the feature win in the Stage One division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds.

Amanda Buchel took over the lead at the start of the event as pole sitter's Tanner VanDohren's car faltered at the start. Buchel wasted no time as she emphasized hitting her marks all around the speedway and built up an a starightaway lead when the checkered flag fell from guest flagger Mike Feltenberger. Joel Price ran in second place for the event with Jeff Hineline scurrying to remain behind him. Anthony Chrobak got a good run going and came in fourth place with Rick Bobby (Joey Amantea) behind him in the new Stage One car out of the Richie Smith Shoppes settling for fifth place. The second five showed Michael Samony in sixth place followed by Adam Buchel, James Costlow, John Bachetti and Mark Evans.

Pearl Jams:

The track was racy from start to finish and Track Promoter Randy Smith continued to work on the speedway as necessary for the activity on the speedway was non-stop but very racy throughout. We counted five grooves on the raceway the drivers utilized to carry out their mission of speed.

Dave Carraghan, and Dylan Hoch captured the heat wins for the All Star Slingshots in the first round while Scott Neary and Jared Silfee were victorious in the second round.. The Junior Slingshot heats went to Aidan Donaldson and Kasey Hufcut in the first round and James Hendricks and RJ Sherman in the second round. The Stage One Modified heats found Tanner VanDohren and Amanda Buchel being victorious. JPA Masonry Wingless heat was claimed by Zack Weisenfluh. Wes Hearn captured the heat win for the Supers. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprints ran one heat and Jacob Eby was the winner. Korey Inglin captured the heat win for the X'Cel Modifieds.

Flagger Russ Furry was on hand last evening as well but in the grandstands sitting one out as he is still hobbled by some injuries he received while working. Veteran flagger and go to guy Mike Feltenberger filled in for Russ on the stand.

Special thanks go out to my good friend Justin Beltrame who did an excellent job in my absence last week both behind the mike and doing the PR stories. Thank you once again my friend.
