BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 14, 2018 . . . . The $10,000 to win Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial was lost to weather last Saturday at Grandview Speedway. They’ll be trying again this Saturday, August 18th with the $10,000 to win Modified Classic set for 7:30 p.m. The tripleheader show will also feature the Sportsman and Late Model stock cars.

A fantastic field of Modified stock car racing talent is again scheduled to be on hand for the big event that honors the memory of the man who had the idea and carried it through to build the one-third-mile, banked clay Grandview Speedway located in Bechtelsville, PA.

“With the change in the date because of the weather postponement there is the possibility that more visiting drivers will be on hand to try for the big win,” said track spokesperson Tina Rogers. “No matter what it is always an exciting event.”

Everything that was scheduled before the events were rained out will be reset for this Saturday.

Every Modified racer making his way through the gate will be looking to win the PPB Forrest Rogers Memorial and take home the $10,000 first place money plus the prestige of being a winner of this annual Classic. With three wins in row and eight overall in the Rogers Memorial Classic Craig Von Dohren is a strong favorite but don’t count out anyone.

Now with just FOUR Saturday night shows remaining that count toward the point standings a strong finish has become even more important. Mike Gular, Danny Snyder and Louden Reimert continue to lead the point standings in the three divisions of NASCAR action. The threesome plus a host of others will be looking to earn every point possible in their drive to win the lucrative NASCAR and track titles.

Of course Jeff Strunk, Duane Howard, Meme DeSantis, Ray Swinehart, Doug Manmiller and many others will be performing at their best in hopes of picking up the top prize.

Jersey Shore race fan Jim Gilmore has posted $100 for the leader of lap number 18 in memory of the late Mike Bailey.

The 50-lap feature for Modifieds headlines the Pioneer Pole Buildings tripleheader that will also include Sportsman and Late Model stock car racing action.

The popular Low Down and Dirty Internet Radio sponsored Meet & Greet, will feature drivers and cars on display in the main gate area at 5PM. This week Craig Von Dohren, Kevin and Brian Hirthler along with Chuck Schutz will be featured. All are sponsored by Pioneer Pole Buildings.

Adult admission is $25 while youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5 and those under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission is $30 with a NASCAR license. And there is free parking on the speedway grounds.

Available at the track will be the opportunity to purchase lap sponsorships for the September 15th Freedom 76 that will pay at least $25,000 to win. Laps are available for $20 and can be had by seeing Tina Rogers or Tommy Kramer. VON DOHREN, SNYDER AND LISOWSKI ARE NASCAR FEATURE WINNERS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 5, 2018 - Craig Von Dohren, the defending NASCAR Modified point champion, won his third 30-lap T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment NASCAR 358 Modified feature of the season on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway in an event that was marred by four-red flag incidents. Von Dohren was able to steer clear of the accidents and avoid being involved.

The 25-lap NASCAR Late Model feature had its share of mishaps also. With five laps to go, leader Kyle Merkel and Steve Wilson, both feature winners earlier in the season, made contact coming out of turn four. Both cars spun giving the lead to current point leader Danny Snyder. Snyder maintained the top spot and went on to chalk up his third win of the year.

Mike Lisowski claimed his second 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature by a comfortable margin over runner-up Jack Butler.

In the activities supported by the Checkered Flag Fan Club, all feature winners received a monetary award from T.P. Trailers and product awards from V.P. Racing Fuel providing they met the necessary requirements. Bob Trapper, Modified; K. Merkel, Late Model and Lisowski, Sportsman received the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award.

Bob Trapper set the pace for two laps before the first red came out for a third turn chain reaction accident that blocked the track and eliminated Brett Kressley and Justin Grim. The restart was void and the second red unfurled when a multi-car homestretch accident saw Duane Howard flip with Frank Cozze, last week’s feature winner Ray Swinehart, Danny Erb and rookie Jordan Henn also involved and out of contention. All drivers walked away. Howard’s car received the most damage. When racing resumed, Trapper was still the leader while his son Bobby Trapper Jr., Doug Manmiller, already a winner a few weeks ago in the Jason Miller-owned mount; Skylar Sheriff and Ryan Grim, who started 20th in pursuit, followed.

The red was thrown with nine laps completed when Clay Butler hopped the wheel of another competitor and flipped along the frontshute. Also eliminated was Kory Fleming, making a rare appearance at Grandview.

The Trappers were still one and two on the restart, but now Grim, Manmiller and Kevin Hirthler, who came from deep in the pack from 23rd, completed the top five.

Lap 13 was an unlucky one for Meme DeSantis when he flipped along the homestretch for the fourth and final red flag. He was slightly shaken, but walked away. It was still the Trappers in the front row, but now Grim was pressuring the younger Trapper for second. Not far behind was Von Dohren, who started 21st after winning the consi for the second week in a row and K. Hirthler.

Lap 18 saw Von Dohren make a daring move when he went between Trapper Jr. and Grim to overtake second and set his sights on Trapper.

Von Dohren drove to the bottom of the track that many drivers felt was heavy due to all the rain during the week and put the Nick Gatto-powered No. 1C into the lead on the 20th lap.

Within no time Von Dohren checked out and increased the distance as the laps wound down.

The field regrouped on the 27th lap caution brought out when Trapper, who was having a solid run, spun into the homestretch infield, but was in a dangerous spot.

That setback didn’t hamper Von Dohren as he was off and running when the race restarted.

Von Dohren remained first until the drop of the checkered for his 105th Saturday night career win. Chasing him across were Grim, who faired better this week after being the first drop out last week; K. Hirthler, current point leader Mike Gular, who came from 23rd after having to run the consi and Jared Umbenhauer, who also ran the consi and started 25th.

Heats were won by Sheriff, Trapper Jr., Bobby Gunther Walsh and Henn. R. Grim and Von Dohren won the consies.

The same drivers, plus a host of others will participate in the Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap race with $10,000 going to the winner. Included in the show will be the Late Model and Sportsman classes.

Kyle Merkel wasted no time charging from second and into the lead at the onset of the Late Model feature leaving Lou Egrie, Cory Merkel, Snyder and Wilson in tow.

While in third, C. Merkel spun in the second turn on lap four. The restart was void when Steve Todorow was facing the wrong direction turn two. After two tries, K. Merkel was still the pacesetter trailed by Egrie, Wilson, Chuck Schutz and Drew Weisser.

Egrie, who was running a solid second, spun in the second turn bringing out the caution on lap 16. At the same time Schutz, who was fourth, went pit side and was finished for the night. Merkel held first when action continued, but Wilson was giving him no room to slip-up.

While battling for the lead, Merkel and Wilson touched, both spun in the fourth turn and Snyder, who was at the right spot at the right time, was the new leader with five laps to go.

Snyder never faltered and was in the winner’s circle for the third time and career win 12 followed by C. Merkel, for his season best finish; Todorow, Wilson and Wayne Pfeil.

Sportsman action saw polesitter Andy Clemmer take the early lead.

A multi-car fourth turn caution on the fourth lap eliminated Mark Kemmerer’s chances of making it two in a row as he was towed back to the pits. Clemmer held his position on the restart, but Jesse Landis was making his presence known.

The lead changed on the sixth lap when Landis was able to overtake Clemmer and one lap later Lisowski was second.

Landis’ lead was short-lived since two laps later Lisowski was at the head of the pack.

It didn’t take Lisowski long to open up a comfortable lead while Jack Butler, Joe Funk III, Clemmer and current point leader Louden Reimert diced for the remaining positions.

The red was thrown on the 19th lap after Ryan Higgs, who returned to action a few weeks ago after destroying his car earlier in the season, flipped in turn two. He was uninjured, but once again the car was badly damaged. Lisowski motored away fast on the restart to stay in command.

Once Lisowski had the lead he never looked back and went on to claim his tenth career triumph. Chasing him across the line were Butler, Reimert, 14-yr.old rookie Alex Yankowski in his first appearance at the track for an impressive run and Funk IOII.

Clemmer, Mike Mammana and Andrew Kreis won the heats. Higgs won the consi.

NASCAR stock car racing action returns to Grandview this Saturday, August 11th, with the running of the annual Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial, a 50-lapper for Modifieds, paying $10, 000 to win. The Late Models and Sportsman will be part of the events that start at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is $25, youngsters 6 thru 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE.

RAY SWINEHART, MARK KEMMERER AND SEAN MERKEL EARN FIRST SEASON VICTORIES IN A.D.MYOYER LUMBER CO. NASCAR STOCK CAR ACTION AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – All three NASCAR feature winners during the A.D. Moyer Lumber Night on Saturday at Grandview Speedway ended their winless streaks by claiming the victories in their respective feature. More than 80 racers took part in the racing action that was completed before 10:30 p.m.

Veteran campaigner and two-time Modified point champion Ray Swinehart struggled in the early portion of the season, but since he unveiled his new car it appears his luck changed. Despite being close on numerous occasions to pulling off the win in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment NASCAR 358 Modified feature, he couldn’t quite accomplish the feat. Taking advantage of the one and only restart to take first away from Skylar Sheriff, Swinehart was back in the winner’s circle – a place he was shut out of since June 13, 2015.

Sean Merkel, briefly returning to Late Model action at the 1/3-mile banked clay oval for a few weeks, led from start to finish to capture his first 25-lap NASCAR Late Model feature since April 2, 2016.

Mark Kemmerer, a bridesmaid the last time they raced, took the opportunity of the 19th lap caution in the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature to overtake Derrick Smith for the lead and was able to claim his first win of the year. The last time he won was August 9, 2017.

All feature winners received a monetary award from T.P. Trailers and product awards from V.P. Racing Fuel providing they met the necessary requirements. Swinehart, Merkel and Smith received the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award.

Rookie racer Skylar Sheriff quickly took the early lead in the Modified feature and within no time he increased the distance between himself and Ray Swinehart, Ron Seltmann Jr., Bobby Gunther Walsh and John Willman, who jockeyed for the remaining positions.

A first turn ninth lap tangle between Seltmann Jr. and Frank Cozze brought out the yellow erasing Sheriff’s comfortable lead. On the restart Swinehart shot to the outside to put his self-owned/MVP No. 33 at the head of the pack.

By this time second through fifth behind him consisted of Sheriff, Willman, Ron Kline, another rookie and Kevin Hirthler.

On the 17th lap Willman finally cleared Sheriff for second after an eight-lap battle for the spot and took chase after Swinehart, who would soon encounter lap traffic.

Swinehart had to weave his way through the side-by-side slower traffic, who were also racing for positions as the laps wound down.

No one was able to reel Swinehart in to challenge him for the win as he continued on his way to career win number 29. Chasing him across the line for their season best finishes were Kline and Willman trailed by current point leader Mike Gular and K. Hirthler, another driver posting his best run.

Starting on the pole in the Late Model feature S. Merkel wasted no time leaving Wayne Pfeil, defending point champion Chuck Schutz and current point leader Danny Snyder, already feature winners this year and Brian Shuey in tow. Trying to break into the top five were brothers Kyle and Cory Merkel.

The pack regrouped with 18 laps completed when Bryon Sipe’s bad luck continued bringing him to a stop in the fourth turn and the yellow to come out. S. Merkel continued his pace, but the real battle was for the runner-up spot between Pfeil and Schutz with neither one giving in.

The top five remained the same the entire race with S. Merkel showing the way to victory. Pfeil, Schutz, Snyder and Shuey trailed.

Sportsman action saw young Nathan Mohr, winner of the Summer Splash 40 earlier this season, set the pace for one lap until Smith motored ahead on the second circuit.

While Smith led the way, Mohr, Kemmerer, current point leader Louden Reimert and Lex Shive were in the hunt for the remaining spots.

Kemmerer overtook Mohr for second on the ninth lap and the battle for the lead was on. Kemmerer made several attempts to pass Smith, but each try failed.

Kenny Bock spun in the third turn for the yellow on the 18th lap. On the restart Kemmerer, shut out of victory the past few weeks, became the new leader as Smith went a little too high off of turn four.

Once Kemmerer was in front he never looked back and continued to chalk up his third career win. Posting his best finish since he won August 26, 2017 was Smith followed by Reimert, Shive and Brad Grim.

Heats were won by Sean Weiss, Smith and Mohr. Kurt Bettler won the consi.

Kicking off August will be Checkered Flag Fan Club Night on Saturday, August 4th. Another tripleheader show of NASCAR stock car racing will be the attraction with the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds using the night to tune-up for the rich classic Pioneer Pole Buildings Forrest Rogers Memorial Classic set for Saturday, August 11th. The annual race, a 50-lapper for Modifieds paying $10,000 to the winner, is run to remember the man who had the idea for building the track and carried it through to create Grandview Speedway with the help of his son Bruce.

The Forrest Rogers Memorial is considered one of the most prestigious events to win and often attracts a bevy of visitors to try for the rich win. In addition the Late Models and Sportsman will be a part of the night of racing.

Admission for the August 11th special event is $25 for adults, $5 for youngsters 6 through 11 and FREE admission for those under 6.

DANNY SNYDER WINS THIRD FIRECRACKER 40 LATE MODEL RACE, VONDOHREN WINS SECOND MOD FEATURE OF 2018 AND ARNOLD IS TOPS IN SPORTSMAN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. July 8, 2018 . . . Craig Von Dohren collected his second T.P. Trailers 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature victory of the season by holding off the hard-charging run of Mike Gular, the current Mod point leader, who was closing in during the final stages through the aid of the lapped cars. The Saturday night win didn’t come easy for Von Dohren, the ten-time and defending champion since twice he went through the middle of lapped traffic. He commented in victory lane that he knew they were racing for positions on the track that was getting slick for them as well as the others in the final event of the night. Von Dohren also thanked his crew and many sponsors who he realizes he wouldn’t be where he is without them.

Danny Snyder won his third Firecracker 40-lap Late Model NASCAR feature with defending point champion Chuck Schutz right behind. Snyder, the current point leader won the event back-to-back in 2012 and 2013.

In the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature Brad Arnold, who was a spectator last week when mechanical problems sidelined him from the feature, finally had Lady Luck on his side and claimed his second feature victory of the year.

Events were broadcast by RCN-TV, Allentown and providing feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and also product certificates from VP Fuels. They also were the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award winners.

Modified action saw Eric Biehn overtake Chris Gambler for the lead on the second lap to become the new pacesetter.

While Biehn showed the way around the 1/3-mile oval, Gambler and Ryan Grim put on quite a dual for second with Jared Umbenhauer, Ray Swinehart and Von Dohren in pursuit.

Once Grim moved into second and erased the margin Biehn built up, he ran the bottom lane in an attempt to pass Biehn, who chose the high lane to keep the lead.

Ron Kline stopped in the second turn to bring out the only race caution on the ninth lap. It was still Biehn first on the restart, but by this time, 12th-place starter Von Dohren was in the challenging position.

The 13th lap was a lucky one for Von Dohren when he motored his self-owned, Nick Gatto powered No. 1C into the number one spot.

Umbenhauer advanced to second on the 16th circuit and took chase after Von Dohren who had somewhat of a slight margin built up.

By the 20th lap, the front runners that consisted of Von Dohren, Umbenhauer, Gular, Biehn and Duane Howard encountered lapped traffic that were also racing for positions, but it hampered the progression of the frontrunners also.

Two times Von Dohren had some narrow misses with the slower traffic when he went through the middle, but managed to get through.

With five laps to go Gular cleared Umbenhauer and was off after Von Dohren hoping to grab the lead.

Von Dohren never gave up and went on to score his 104th career Saturday night career win trailed by Gular, Umbenhauer, Howard and Jeff Strunk, who both came on strong in the end.

Brett Gilmore, Ray Swinehart and Timmy Buckwalter were the heat winners.

Invader Sean Merkel, winner of the Late Model Firecracker 40 in 2015, wasted no time taking the early lead away from polesitter and opening night winner Snyder at the start of the event.

Merkel ran the high line and Snyder made several efforts to dive underneath him, but each attempt failed.

The lead changed the eighth time around when Snyder put the KAM Fuels No. 44 into first.

Behind Snyder the battle for positions was hot and heavy between Merkel, Schutz, Brian Shuey, making a rare appearance and Wayne Pfeil.

Merkel and Schutz diced for second many laps until Schutz got by and set sail after Snyder.

Mechanical problems continued to hinder Bryon Sipe who battled with Kyle Merkel for the sixth spot many laps until a broken axle and flat tire slowed his pace bringing out the yellow with 23 laps completed. Snyder was still first when action resumed with Schutz challenging, but Snyder kept him behind.

It seemed Schutz would gain ground on Snyder, but that quick he lost it.

Snyder kept all the competition behind him and went on to claim his 10th Grandview career win followed by Schutz, Pfeil, Merkel and Shuey.

Arnold, who chalked up his first 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman of the season May 5, 2018, finally had a change of luck when he pulled into the winner’s circle for the second time by a comfortable margin over runner-up Louden Reimert.

Kurt Bettler was the early leader after two tries to complete a lap, but the second time around Arnold put the No. 830 into tat the head of the pack.

Within no time Arnold had a sizeable lead while Kenny Bock, Bettler, Kyle Lilick and Reimert jockeyed for the remaining spots. Trying to break into the top five was Brad Brightbill.

Cale Ross spun in the fourth turn to regroup the pack on the 15th lap. Arnold maintained his pace on the restart, but four laps later Reimert put his bids in for first.

Nothing hampered Arnold for a change and he kept everyone behind him to chalk up his fourth career win. Chasing Arnold across the line were Reimert, Brightbill, Lilick and Mike Lisowski.

Heats were won by Andrew Kreis, Nathan Mohr and Arnold.

Coming up on Saturday, July 14th, 7:30 p.m. another exciting evening of NASCAR stock car racing on the high banks. Included in the Whelen Engineering sponsored tripleheader show will be the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Sportsman and Late Models. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m.

Friday, July 20th, 6 p.m. is the first Friday night show of Outlaw Enduros and Blast from the Past Vintage Modifieds. Also included will be Super Mod 4x4 Trucks and Vintage Midgets. Pit admission is $30 while adults in the spectator area pay just $10.
