TRIPLEHEADER NASCAR STOCK CAR RACING ACTION AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY NIGHT
START OF MONTH OF MAY RACING WILL INCLUDE STARTING TIME CHANGE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 24, 2018 . . . The battle for the lucrative NASCAR and track point titles is underway at Grandview Speedway and it all continues on Saturday night (April 28) with a tripleheader card of NASCAR stock car racing.
Featured in the 7 p.m. Saturday show on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval will be the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars with a full slate of qualifying events leading up to a 30-lap feature for the Modifieds and 25-lap features for the other divisions of stock car racing.
Five time track champion Duane Howard is off to a strong start with a second place finish to winner Ryan Watt last Saturday in the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds. Watt is also expected to return to try for a second win in a row. Defending and ten time champion Craig VonDohren earned a fifth and Jeff Strunk, another ten time champion, earned a top ten finish. They are all expected to put on quite a chase for the lucrative track and NASCAR titles.
Others with strong showings last Saturday were veteran Frank Cozze, Mike Gular, Kevin Hirthler, Brett Kressley, Ryan Grim and a number of others. Close to 40 Modifieds were on hand for the Saturday action and most are expected back for this Saturday’s action as the point battle moves on.
Danny Snyder, who made a winning return to Grandview Late Model racing last Saturday, is expected to be a strong contender for that division title as will be Kyle Merkel, Lou Egrie, Rick Todorow and a host of others. Defending champion Chuck Schutz had mechanical issues keep him out of action last weekend but is expected back on Saturday. And in Sportsman action Brian Hirthler is looking for his second straight title against contenders such as Brad Grim, winner last Saturday night, Jim Housworth, young Louden Reimert, Craig Whitmoyer and a host of others.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet three drivers and get a close look at their race cars. Sportsman racer B.J. Joly, Late Model talent Jordan Knepp and veteran Modified racer Danny Erb will be doing the Low Down and Dirty Internet Radio Meet and Greet at the main ticket gate at 5 p.m.
Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing action starting at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters under 12 are admitted free. Pit admission, NASCAR license required, is $30.
Fans are reminded that the starting time will change effective with the Saturday, May 5th tripleheader when racing will get the green at 7:30 p.m.
Coming up on Sunday, May 6th, will be the first Outlaw Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage doubleheader with a 1 p.m. starting time. The first two scheduled events fell victim to the weather.
The one-third-mile, banked clay track, offering clear views of all the action from each seat, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. DANNY SNYDER, BRAD GRIM AND RYAN WATT CAPTURE CHECKERED FLAGS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
BRETT PETERS AND RICKY RUTT WINNERS IN VINTAGE RACING FEATURE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 22, 2018 . . . A full card of regular season NASCAR points paying events Saturday night at Grandview Speedway got the 2018 racing season underway on a very exciting note, as Danny Snyder, Brad Grim and Ryan Watt, all, took home Opening Night wins at the popular high-banked third-mile clay oval in Bechtelsville, PA.
The 25-lap Late Model triumph by Snyder was his first victory at the raceway since July 20, 2013 and the tenth win of his career.
Watt dominated in the 30-lap NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified main event, winning his third career feature race at the track and his first since September 3, 2005.
Grim netted his third career victory in the 25-lap Sportsman division feature and scored his first since July 29, 2017.
Through the luck of the draw, the Green Lane, PA native, Snyder, started from the pole position in the 13-car starting field and quickly moved out to a full straightaway advantage as the race leader by lap 4. A caution a lap later bunched up the field, however, Snyder once again was lightning quickly with the new green, grabbing the top spot on the restart and stretching it to a full straightaway advantage again after nine circuits.
Caution again on lap 17 closed up the field, with Snyder playing the role of the rabbit again on the restart, with the competition chasing. Yellow flags waving again after lap 20 and lap 22 slowed things, but Snyder again just held onto that top spot each time and easily went on to victory by a safe margin over the fourth-place race starter from Shoemakersville, PA veteran Brian Shuey, Green Lane, PA chauffeur Kyle Merkel, who started from fifth, Reading, PA racer Drew Weisser, the seventh-place starter, and Pottstown, PA chauffeur Jordan Knepp, who took the initial feature green from tenth, at the checkered, earning an additional $100 bonus from TP Trailers and Truck Equipment out of Limerick, PA as the race winner.
“The car was good and so was the track tonight. The car was bottoming out there towards the end in turn 3. There was a pretty good sized cushion there, but we made it through alright and made the owner happy tonight. It’s sure a good way to start the new season,” offered Snyder.
In the Sportsman feature, a heads-up starting order saw Jim Housworth of Riegelsville, PA immediately jumped out in front after starting from the pole in the 24-car starting field and was the race leader after lap one. On lap two, third-place starter Brad Grim out of Coplay, PA made a move on the outside off turn four to become the new race leader at the line by a radiator, racing side-by-side with Housworth. Cautions after lap two and again after lap three bunched up the field, however, Grim remained out in front completing lap four, with outside front row starter Brian Hirthler in tow, as Housworth fell to third.
Grim maintained his advantage as the race leader, as Housworth moved back into the runner-up position by lap six, with Hirthler and Brad Brightbill now trailing. Brightbill climbed into third-place on lap eight and a caution flag after 11-laps were completed tightened up the field again.
With the new green it was Grim out in front over Housworth, Brightbill, Hirthler and now Louden Reimert of Oley, PA, who started from eleventh. Grim immediately started pulling away and opening up a sizeable advantage as the laps clicked off. With five to go, Grim was out in front by a full straightaway.
Little changed in the closing laps as Grim raced under the checkered first outrunning Housworth, Brightbill, Hirthler and Reimert in that order. Grim took home an additional $100 bonus from TP Trailers as well for his victory.
“The car was a little tight there at the end. We had to run the top and that wasn’t where I wanted to be, but I knew it was where I had to be if I wanted to stay out in front because that’s where the bite was. This is a very good team and I thought that they were closer to me there at the end, but my crew tells me we won by a full straightaway and that surprised me,” announced Grim.
Sportsman heat race winners were Housworth, Hirthler and Grim. The consolation winner was Kyle Lilick. A total of 33 Sportsman racers signed in for competition on Saturday night.
In the 30-lap NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified headliner, the heads-up start showed Doug Manmiller from Shoemakersville, PA racing out in front with the initial green flag after starting from the pole, but all eyes were on Ryan Watt from Boyertown, PA, who started fourth in the 28-car starting field and quickly powered his way around the outside to move up to the runner-up position after one tour. Watt fought it out with Manmiller wheel-to-wheel and made the pass to become the new race leader down the back part of the speedway and racing into turn three on lap four.
With six complete it was Watt, Manmiller and second-place starter Steve Swinehart of Perkiomenville, PA running as the top three. A caution quickly bunched up the field at that point.
On lap seven, tenth-place starter Duane Howard from Oley, PA powered his way into third, followed by Mike Gular out of Harleysville, PA and Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, PA, who started from seventh. Howard started to work his way under Manmiller by lap nine and, eventually, squeezed by on lap 12 to take second. With 13 circuits in the record books, Watt was now out in front by a full straightaway.
Watt started to get slowed by lapped traffic, as Howard began to reel the leader in. With 18 down, Howard was now right on Watt, working through the lapped traffic, as Manmiller brought out a caution due to a badly smoking motor after 21 rounds were completed.
On the restart Watt powered out in front again over Howard, fourteenth-place starter Frank Cozze of Wind Gap, PA and Gular. After 23 circuits, Watt again pulled out to a safe advantage. On lap 25, Craig Von Dohren from Oley, PA climbed into the top five, after starting in twenty-first.
Watt easily claimed the first-place pay check, with Howard, Cozze, Gular and Von Dohren in tow.
Watt earned an additional $250 bonus check from TP Trailers after his feature win, plus the weekly $2,500 first-place winner’s prize.
“I wish we had this car here last week (referring to the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial that paid $7,500 to win). We’ve been so close here with a couple of second-place finishes. We’ve got a lot of friends and family here tonight. It’s great to finally be back in victory lane. I almost forgot how to get here. We brought this Bicknell car here last year but had a fuel line issue hurt us. Tonight there was a lot of grip and I could easily get that bite if I got back into the throttle again. I wasn’t really worried once we got out in front,” commented Watt.
The 358 Modified heat race winners were Manmiller, Steve Swinehart, Kenny Gilmore and Watt. Consolation winners were Von Dohren and Jared Umbenhauer of Richland, PA. A total of 39 358 Modified cars signed in for competition on Saturday evening.
A special 15-lap Blast from The Past Vintage Car feature event saw Brett Peters go high on lap seven to take the lead and go on to the victory over Andy Cassell, Todd Lapp, Jamie Undercoffler and Ricky Rutt, who was also declared as a race winner in his division, with all the Vintage cars running together in a single feature event.
Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 28th, 7 p.m. with the running of a tripleheader card of racing featuring the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars.
NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified feature (30-laps) – 1) Ryan Watt, 2) Duane Howard, 3) Frank Cozze, 4) Mike Gular, 5) Craig Von Dohren, 6) Kevin Hirthler, 7) Brett Kressley, 8) Rick Laubach, 9) Jeff Strunk, 10) Ryan Grim, 11) Brian Krummel, 12) Jared Umbenhauer, 13) Danny Erb, 14) Justin Grim, 15) Tim Buckwalter, 16) Kyle Weiss, 17) Ryan Lilick, 18) John Willman, 19) Chris Gambler, 20) Doug Manmiller, 21) Kenny Gilmore, 22) Eric Biehn, 23) Clay Butler, 24) Steve Swinehart, 25) Bobby Trapper, 26) Mike Kellner, 27) Jordan Henn, 28) Bobby Trapper Jr.

POINT BATTLES KICK OFF FOR ALL THREE DIVISIONS OF STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY, APRIL 21ST
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 17, 2018 . . . When NASCAR stock car racing gets the green flag at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 21st, two 10-time champions, Craig VonDohren and Jeff Strunk, will be trying to be the first to reach 11 championships. VonDohren has earned the T.P.Trailers 358 Modified championships the last three years and his strong third place effort in the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial last Saturday showed that he is ready for another strong season, perhaps a fourth straight title.
However Jeff Strunk is also looking for a strong season as he goes after his 11th title and first since 2014. Duane Howard, another talented veteran, is a five time champion and will be seeking his sixth title, last one won in 2012, during the 2018 season.
Make no mistake though it will not be all about VonDohren, Strunk and Howard as the season gets underway with many young talents setting their sights on the lucrative title. Grandview Speedway is one of very few tracks, perhaps the only track, in the nation that affords racer the opportunity to win two titles, the NASCAR and track championships.
The Saturday card of racing, a tripleheader with a 7 p.m. starting time, will feature the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Sportsman and Late Model stock cars battling for championship points. An extra added attraction for Saturday is the first 2018 appearance of the Blast from the Past Vintage Car racers with no increase in the regular admission price.
A full slate of qualifying events will lead up to the exciting feature events in each NASCAR division of racing.
Admission for Saturday night is $15 for adults and youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m.
When the racing ends each night fans are invited to head back to the pit area to see the race cars up close, take pictures and collect autographs.
Grandview Speedway is known for their excellent well-stocked concession areas and there is a great novelty stand that offers souvenirs, t-shirts, hats and more along with copies of the latest edition of the track magazine, The Inside Groove.
The one-third-mile, banked clay track, offering clear views of all the action from each seat, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For up-to-date information check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com or Facebook. The track office telephone number is 610.754.7688.

STEWART FRIESEN WINS VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MEMORIAL AT GRANDVIEW, KEVIN HIRTHLER TOPS THE SPORTSMAN FIELD
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. April 15, 2018 . . . Mother Nature finally cooperated with the racing community on Saturday night and produced beautiful weather and the 56th racing season at Grandview Speedway got underway in front of a very large turnout of fans. Close to 50 small and big block Modifieds lined the pits to participate in the events leading up to the first annual Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker 50-lap race sponsored by VP Racing Fuels. The race was run in honor of the late Bruce Rogers, who passed away last March. Bruce, along with his father Forrest, built the track close to 60 years ago.
Three laps shy of a victory in the prestigious memorial event, Stewart Friesen wrestled the lead away from Mike Gular as the front runners had to deal with lapped traffic. Friesen held on and went on to collect the $7,500 top prize money along with beautiful hardware signifying the victory. In 2014 Friesen, now a regular in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition, won the season opener along with the rich Freedom 76 Classic.
Kevin Hirthler, doing double duty in the Modified and Sportsman divisions, took the lead when leader Ryan Lilick dropped out of action and chalked up the victory in the 25-lap Sportsman feature.
Through a heads-up draw, Don Norris Jr., returning to action after a year hiatus, started on the pole in the 50-lap Memorial feature, but it was second-place starter Tim Buckwalter that took the early lead and Gular followed through for second.
Buckwalter and Gular were bumper to bumper for several laps while back further Norris Jr., Friesen and Jordan Henn diced for positions.
Gular dove underneath Buckwalter for the lead along the homestretch on the 12th lap and heading down the backstretch Buckwalter pulled into the infield out of contention.
With 15 laps in the books Gular, Norris Jr., Friesen, Craig Von Dohren and Matt Sheppard, the third, first, fourth, 12th and sixth-place starters continued to hold down one through five as they encountered slower moving traffic that were also racing for positions.
Kevin Hirthler, who had just broken into the top ten, spun in the fourth turn on the 22nd lap and went pit side. Gular held his line on the restart, but Friesen was right there leaving him no room to slip-up and Friesen knew Von Dohren was pressuring him too.
Sheppard’s solid fourth place run ended on the 24th lap with a right rear flat tire. After a pit stop he rejoined the pack, but was only able to get back to 11th until the end.
At the half-way marker Gular, Friesen and Von Dohren, who all ran the top lane; Watt and Frank Cozze completed the top five.
In the final stages of the event, lap cars hampered the front runners and Friesen had a full head of steam built up even though he abused his tires and was coming on strong as it appeared Gular was having problems getting through turns one and two.
On the 47th lap, three short of a victory for Gular, Friesen passed him. Gular didn’t surrender easily and tried to regain the top spot.
Friesen continued his pace and pulled into the winner’s circle for his third win at the oval followed by Gular, Von Dohren, Watt and Cozze. Rounding out the top ten were Duane Howard, Meme DeSantis, Rick Laubach, Billy Pauch Sr. and Mike Mahaney.
Heats were won by Jordan Henn, Brett Kressley, Sheppard and Von Dohren. Jared Umbenhauer and Laubach won the consolation events.
Jeff Strunk and Doug Manmiller, two of the top favorites, failed to qualify for the prestigious event.
Polesitter Ryan Lilick took the early lead after a complete restart in the Sportsman feature with Jesse Landis, Brad Grim and brothers Brian and Kevin Hirthler, both doing double duty in pursuit.
Grim led the sixth lap, but that was short-lived as Lilick was back in front the next time by.
Lilick’s misfortune when his car broke on the 11th lap was beneficial to K. Hirthler when he now inherited the lead.
Grim made several runs on K. Hirthler, but each one fell short as the lead remained the same while B. Hirthler, Dylan Swinehart and Jim Housworth were in the wings hoping for one of them to falter.
K. Hirthler never surrendered the lead and scored his first win in the division followed by Grim, B. Hirthler, Swinehart and Mark Kemmerer, Kevin’s teammate for the night. Housworth, Jack Butler, Mike Lisowski, Ryan Higgs and Kurt Beitler rounded out the top ten.
Lilick, Landis and B. Hirthler won the heats. The consi was won by Brad Arnold.
The official season of TP Trailers NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman will kick off on Saturday, April 21 all getting underway at 7:00 p.m. An added attraction will be the Blast from the Past Vintage Racers. Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TRYING AGAIN WITH VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MEMORIAL MONEY MAKER CLASSIC ON SATURDAY, APRIL 14
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 9, 2018 . . . OK, let’s try this again. The VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker Classic at Grandview Speedway is set for Saturday, April 14th at 7pm after being weathered out last Saturday.
With $7,500 posted for the winner and $1,000 guaranteed just for making the starting field for the 50-lapper that has Small Block Modifieds going up against the Big Block Modifieds the race has attracted a huge amount of interest. This is especially true with the race being run to honor Bruce Rogers, one of the most respected race promoters in the business. He passed away in March, 2017.

ALBANY INDOOR RACING SERIES FINALE RESULTS
Posted by: | CommentsANDY JANKOWIAK WINS INDOOR AUTO RACING SERIES THREE QUARTER MIDGET FINALE; BONSIGNORE NAMES 2018 SERIES CHAMPION; NICK DELCAMPO RACES TO SLINGSHOT CHECKERED; CODY KLINE IS TITLE WINNER; BROWN BEATS ROSS IN CHAMP KART HEADLINER
ALBANY, NY February 9, 2018 . . . Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y., passed Tim Buckwalter six laps into Saturday’s 40-lap feature to win the Indoor Auto Racing Series feature at Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y.
“This is the one I wanted to win,” Jankowiak said. “I’ve won ‘em before but this is the first I won in my own car. It was perfect. I couldn’t be happier. I did everything but win last night and to get it tonight is all I could ever ask for.”
At the other end of the spectrum, Justin Bonsignore nursed a car with an engine that he described as ‘blown up’, to win the Indoor Auto Racing Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels 2018 championship.
“I don’t know how this car finished,” Bonsignore said. “The motor was coming apart ten laps into this thing. The championship means a lot to me and to this team.”
Buckwalter retained second for the last 34 laps after losing the lead to Jankowiak while Timmy Catalano survived a mid-pack start and minor involvement in several crashes to finish third. Matt Janisch was fourth in the finale with Erick Rudolph fifth.
Rudolph could have had a shot at the title with Bonsignore’s subpar outing but never got untracked.
Anthony Sesely managed a sixth-place finish flipping his car during the race. Jonathan Reid, Ryan Tidman, Tim Nye and Friday night winner Anthony Payne rounded out the top ten.
Nick DelCampo of Blauvelt, N.Y., won the 20-lap Slingshot main event.
“I’m in tears right now. These races are so tough. This is just such a humbling experience,” DelCampo said. “We had been bringing fast race cars to Indoor races for years. We finally got one.”
Cody Kline of Hellertown, Pa., was the 2018 Indoor Auto Racing Series 2018 Slingshot champion.
“This Indoor racing is tough,” Kline said. “I didn’t really want to know where I was in the points but last night my crew told me I was ahead. Very happy to be able to do it. A lot of people have worked hard to make this happen.”
The Champ Kart 20-lap, 20-Kart main event, remarkably, ran from green flag to conclusion without a single caution flag. A titanic battle for the win between Cale Ross of Lambertville, N.J., and Tyler Brown of Fulton, N.Y., developed with Brown passing Ross for the first time with five laps left.
Ross then regained the lead two laps later only to lose it on the final circuit. Ross had not lost in 2018 Indoor Auto Racing Series competition but couldn’t hold off Brown in the race to the finish line.
Gene Gregoric ran third behind the leaders for the entire race. Ryan Kendall and Jeremy Tuttle completed the top five.
“It was all about being patient,” Brown said. “That was the key to this race. I was kind of holding back a little with the lapped traffic. Once I got him, he kind of surprised me when he got me back. So I had to repass him.”
Four TQ Midget heat race of ten laps were won by Jankowiak, Buckwalter, Bonsignore, and Reid. The pair of TQ B-Mains of ten laps each were snared by Tidman and Tommy Catalano.
The trio of Slingshot heat races went to Seth Spayd, Austin Silfee and Jared Silfee.
Champ Kart ten lap prelims were won by Cale Ross, Tyler Brown and Gene Gregoric. Damon Schuster won the B-Main for Karts.
