EAST COAST MICRO DIRT NATIONALS RACERS RECEIVE ADDITIONAL INCENTIVE; BOB HILBERT CO. POSTS $500 HARD CHARGER BONUS
TRENTON, NJ November 25, 2017. . . Racers who will be competing in the first East Coast Dirt Nationals coming up at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, N.J. on Friday and Saturday, December 1-2, 2017 won’t have to win the race to earn big bucks.
Bob Hilbert Company, supplier of official event apparel to Len Sammons Motorsports Productions and the Indoor Auto Racing Series since its inception, has thrown its support behind a ‘Hard Charger’ award.
“There are so many good drivers who put on a great show for the fans who don’t ultimately win. Rewarding one of them with a Hard Charger award makes a lot of sense, and thanks to Bob Hilbert, we can,” Len Sammons said.
Bob Hilbert Company, based in Boyertown, Pa., ranks among the industry leaders in designing and printing of event and driver apparel. The firm is backing the $500 award. The prize will be presented to the driver who advances the most positions in the A-Main.
Nearly 100 Dirt Micro Sprint drivers from eight different states from many different racing disciplines have entered the first ever East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals.
Some of the entrants are veterans of prior Indoor Auto Racing Series TQ events, chief among them Anthony Sesely of Matawan, N.J. Sesely is a three time Gambler’s Classic winner on the concrete Boardwalk Hall oval in Atlantic City, N.J.
Other Indoor TQ drivers are crossing over from the concrete with Sesely include Micro Sprint veteran Pat Bealer, past TQ Midget outdoor circuit champion Matt Janisch, 2016 Wall Stadium TQ Turkey Derby winner Matt Roselli and Dirt Modified and past Indoor Auto Racing Series A-Main winner Mike Iles.
Ryan Smith, who ranked second in the 2017 All Star Circuit Of Champions 410 Sprint Car circuit, has filed an entry to compete in the first East Coast Dirt Micro Nationals.
Named the ‘Kunkletown Kid’ for his lifelong residency in the small Pennsylvania hamlet, Smith enjoyed a breakout season with the All Stars, winning three races and outpointing almost 300 other drivers from across the country except Ohio’s Chad Kemenah, the circuit champion.
Indoor Auto Racing Series competition will be nothing new to Smith. In fact, he has one of the most consistent performance records of any driver in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, authoring top five finishes in A-Main events, all the while driving a Micro 600cc Sprint against the heavily favored asphalt TQ Midgets.
Prominent outdoor dirt track specialists who have entered the East Coast Dirt Micro Nationals include six time and reigning Lincoln Speedway 410 Sprint Car driving champion Brian Montieth, native Californian Danny Stratton, who has spent most of 2017 racing in the Midwest on the POWRi Midget circuit, Kutztown SpeedSTR reigning champion Tim Buckwalter along with his cousin, former ARDC Midget driving champion Steve, noted Sprint Car driving brothers Michael and Brian Carber, and past ARDC Midget car driving champions Alex Bright, Trevor Kobylarz.
New York state 360 Sprint car drivers Scott Kreutter and Joe Trenca have also expressed their intention to compete in the East Coast Micro Dirt Nationals.
The field also includes the best drivers and teams from Micro Sprint racing.
In fact, one Micro Sprint car owner is so sure one of the division regulars will win the event, he’s willing to put his money on it. Should any non-regular of 600cc Micro Sprint racing win Saturday’s feature event the car owner will add a $500 bonus to the win total.
Though a new attraction, the CURE Insurance Arena (formerly Sun National Bank Center), has hosted TQ Midget racing for the past four years on the arena’s concrete floor.
The two-day event will start on Friday at 7 p.m. with 10 heat races. Drivers will pick for qualifying positions. Those with a bad draw will be rewarded with passing points. The top 60 performers will then be divided into four A-qualifier feature races.
On Saturday, points from Friday’s events will line-up all drivers into “alphabet mains” which will begin at 5 p.m... While high point drivers will lock into Saturday’s A-Main, expected to start after 8 p.m., the other racers will have the opportunity to advance from twin F, E, D, C and B-mains to make the 40 lap “A” feature.
This series opens for the TQ Midgets at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA., for the Ironton Telephone sponsored events on Friday and Saturday, January 5 and 6. Each night offers a complete show for the headline TQ Midgets.

OAKS, PA November 19, 2017 . . . From 1962 through its final race in 1989 Pine Book Speedway presented crowd pleasing Three Quarter Midget racing and during the three days of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2018 Racecar and Trade Show Presented by Sunoco and Fueled by Insinger Performance a Reunion will be presented. A showcase of TQs raced at the popular race track will part of the Reunion along drivers and others that were involved in the Friday night racing action at the Route 46 and Bloomfield location in Pine Brook, NJ.
The show takes place January 19-21 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
In addition to the TQs there will a display featuring the Pine Brook Micro-Stocks that were popular during the late 1970s through the 1980s.
Gary Mondschein, through his promotional company Classic Racing Times has been involved in a number of great motorsports displays over the years, will be creating a large and comprehensive display tracing the history of Pine Brook. Long-time Micro-Stock car owner and driver Al Puntasecca will be working with Mondschein.
“For a number of years I was a regular at Pine Brook. I got caught up in the excitement of the action packed racing,” said show public relations person Ernie Saxton. “Drivers like Doug Craig, Pete Mourad, Dick “Mr. Consistency” Peterman, Jack Duffy, Sheriff Larry Michaels, Bob Watkins, and Tony Romit along with many others made for an exciting show on the very short asphalt track.”
There will be Pine Brook memorabilia will be on display with show attendees bring advised to bring their scrapbooks for autographs.
There will be autograph sessions featuring drivers, car owners and officials throughout the show.
During the weeks leading up to the show there will be updates released to the media and at the show website listing who be part of the autograph sessions. Noted announcer Bob Marlow, son of the voice of Pine Brook for many years Dick Marlow, will be interviewing guest drivers and team members.

Ryan Smith, who ranked second in the 2017 All Star Circuit Of Champions 410 Sprint Car circuit, has filed an entry to compete in the first East Coast Dirt Nationals coming up in two weeks at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, N.J. on Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd.
The ‘Kunkletown Kid’ for his lifelong residency in the small Pennsylvania hamlet, Smith enjoyed a breakout season with the All Stars, winning three races and outpointing almost 300 other drivers from across the country except Ohio’s Chad Kemenah, the circuit champion.
As a third generation race driver - his father Randy and grandfather Roy preceded him in racing - Smith understands how important it is to be able to connect and communicate with his crew as well as his fans.
Smith’s Sprint Car prowess was recognized in consecutive years at Williams Grove Speedway where he earned Most Improved Driver accolades.
Indoor Auto Racing Series competition will be nothing new to Smith. In fact, he has one of the most consistent performance records of any driver in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
Beginning in 2009 through 2013, Smith authored top five finishes in A-Main events, all the while driving a Micro 600cc Sprint against the heavily favored asphalt TQ Midgets.
Smith will be back in his element in the CURE Insurance Arena driving indoors once more in a Micro 600cc Sprint. Joel Smith (his cousin) owns the car which will carry the family’s iconic No. 555 on the tail.
Native Californian Danny Stratton, who has spent most of 2017 racing in the Midwest on the POWRi Midget circuit, has also entered the event.
Though Stratton has run Sprint Cars with considerable success, his forte has been in Midgets, He owns two career USAC National Midget wins and eight USAC Western States Midget checkereds.
In 2016, Stratton ran most of the USAC/ARDC circuit, finishing ninth in points with a top finish of second at Lebanon, Pa.’s Linda’s Speedway on July 1.
Several drivers have entered the East Coast Micro Dirt Nationals who are experienced in Len Sammons Motorsports Productions TQ Midget competition. KEITH ROCCO TO MAKE FIRST INDOOR THREE QUARTER MIDGET AUTO RACING SERIES FUELED BY VP RACING FUELS STARTS IN ALLENTOWN, ATLANTIC CITY AND ALBANY; ACQUIRES TOP SHELF RYAN PREECE CAR FOR ALL OUT ASSAULT
ALLENTOWN, PA November 8, 2017 . . . New England Asphalt Modified specialist Keith Rocco has plans to run in the Indoor Auto Racing Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels trio of races to be held this coming winter. Len Sammons Motorsports Productions received confirmation from Rocco declaring his intentions to race in the Allentown (PA), Atlantic City (NJ) and Albany (NY) races.
Rocco, who has never driven a Three Quarter Midget nor raced indoors, has acquired the car Ryan Preece has raced in recent Indoor races with considerable success.
Preece recently announced that he will drive the car now solely owned by Donnie Preece, Ryan's uncle, in the three-race Indoor Auto Racing Series. Donnie Preece acquired sole ownership of the car from the late Ted Christopher's wife Quinn shortly after the racing legend's death in a private plane crash.
With a top car underneath him, Rocco, of Wallingford, CT, who won track championships this season at Waterford Speedbowl, Thompson Motorsports Park and Stafford Motor Speedway, is certain to rank among the pre-race favorites.
Rocco will be in the field when the series opens for 2018 at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA., for the Ironton Telephone sponsored events on Friday and Saturday, January 5 and 6. He will return to the NAPA Auto Parts Indoor Auto Racing Weekend in Atlantic City, NJ, on January 26 and 27. Then, Rocco will then square off in neutral territory in the first ever Indoor race event in New York State, set for February 9-10, 2018 in the Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y.
To succeed, Rocco will have to go up against experienced indoor TQ Midget drivers in what is a very specialized racing discipline.
New Jersey native Ryan Flores of Mooresville, N.C., will be racing his No. 15 Lafler TQ Midget at Wall Stadium’s Turkey Derby in the TQ Midget feature over Thanksgiving Day weekend in preparation for the indoor opener.
Flores has spent his working life in NASCAR’s upper tier series. He currently works on the Woods Brothers No. 21 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team driven by Ryan Blaney.
When Blaney moves from the Wood Brothers Ford to a third team owned by Roger Penske in 2018, Flores and the rest of the team will move with Blaney to the No. 12 car.
Also a contender for victories and the championship is Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J., recently crowned Wall Stadium 2017 Modified champion. Blewett has been a contender for Indoor Auto Racing Series victory for five years but has yet take the checkered flag.
You never can rule out Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, NY. An eight time winner and three time Indoor Racing Series champion, Rudolph was a close second to Flores in last year’s title chase. He will be coming off a career best outdoor season on dirt that produced 17 wins and the BRP Modified Tour championship.
Driving a TQ Midget on the Indoor Series is a perfect off-season workout for the drivers. The TQs are open wheel race cars, specifically adapted for racing in the tight indoor speedway confines. Powered by a 750cc motorcycle engine, the car and driver weigh only 825 pounds allowing them to ignite to speeds up to 75 mph. The unbelievable racing, with lap times under eight seconds, has produced huge fan attendance.
These are not cookie cutter race cars held in a box by a large rule book. The suspension and car design are open to the team, making it a throwback style of racing.

TRENTON, NJ November 7, 2017 . . . A pair of dirt track racing brothers, Michael and Brian Carber have each filed entries for the inaugural East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals Fueled By VP Racing Fuels which will be held at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, N.J., on Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd.

The event, the only indoor dirt oval track race in the northeast, has drawn tremendous competitor and race fan interest.
Rich black clay has been ordered and the track crew is preparing to make it banked, smooth, tacky and fast. Race teams have responded by entering their 600cc Micro Sprints for top drivers in big numbers making this a must see event.
The Carber brothers, Michael, 30 and Brian, 23, come into the event with considerable Dirt Track Micro Sprint racing on their side, an advantage that could be huge. The Carbers are natives of the Pipersville, PA area.
Michael Carber will be driving a car owned by Jason Higdalski.
“This actually started out as kind of a gag between me and Ryan Flores,” Carber said. “He said he was trying to hook up a Micro ride so I decided to find one too. I got mine, he had to back out on his, but I'm going ahead with it.”
Flores has entered the three TQ Midget Indoor Auto Racing Series events held on the concrete floors at Allentown (PA), Atlantic City (NJ) and Albany (NY). Flores is the defending Series champion in those events.
Both Carber and Flores are involved as crewmen on NASCAR's top tier series teams owned by Roger Penske and live near one another in Mooresville, N.C.
Carber has won races in every type of racing he has competed in, including Quarter Midgets, Micro Sprints, and 305, 360 and 410 Sprint Cars.
When Brian Carber learned of his older brother's intentions, the Micro Sprint and URC Sprint ace decided to put together a deal for himself too. The younger Carber will strap into a Hyper Chassis owned by Eric Gable. The younger Carber has been racing Micros and Sprint Cars.
Ability and experience aside, the Carber brothers will be facing some formidable competition at the inaugural East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals Weekend.
Four ARDC Midget car driving champions, Alex Bright, Trevor Kobylarz, and the Buckwalter cousins, Steve and Tim, all have eyes on contending for the $5,000 first place prize. Each could be expected to have an edge over the competitors who do not have their background.
Entries have already been received from competitors in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Colorado, Connecticut, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The field includes the best of Micro Sprint racing, plus top drivers from many other forms or racing that have landed rides for the event. The list includes three top Sprint Car drivers.

STRUNK WINS SECOND STRAIGHT FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC IN HONOR OF BRUCE ROGERS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY EARNING IN EXCESS OF $30,000
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. September 17, 2017 . . . Jeff Strunk, the defending winner of Grandview Speedway’s Freedom 76, now has the distinction of being the leading winner of the event at seven having been in a tie at six with Billy Pauch. Strunk took home the checkered in the 47th Annual Freedom 76-lap T.P. Trailers NASCAR Modified feature in honor of promoter Bruce Rogers who passed away earlier in the year. The ten-time NASCAR Modified point champion picked up a hefty paycheck of $30,000 in addition to $100 from AARN for being the half-way leader, the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award plus lap money and a V.P. Racing Fuel award providing he met the necessary requirements.
Strunk made up for a rather dismal season at the 1/3-mile oval in which prior to the night only won one race and that was on June 3, 2017. Strunk and Craig VonDohren, the 2017 Modified point champion, put on quite a battle throughout the race and Strunk commented that VonDohren, who is tough as nails ran him clean while the pair battled throughout the race. There were several times Strunk didn’t know which lane to choose since VonDohren tried the outside and inside which made Strunk change lanes.
Through the luck of the draw, Bob Trapper Jr. started on the pole, but it was second-place starter Billy Pauch that charged into the early lead trailed by Doug Manmiller, Strunk, Scott Albert and Brian Krummel, who started third, sixth,, fifth and seventh respectively.
By lap eighth the top three approaching lapped traffic and had to use heads up driving.
Duane Howard, the winner four times, slowed his pace on the 11th lap for the first yellow and was through for the night. The restart had Pauch and Strunk side-by-side, but when action resumed Pauch washed up coming out of turn four. Strunk took advantage of the situation and motored the Glenn Hyneman-owned/All Fab No. 126 into first.
Within no time Strunk opened up a commanding lead while Pauch, Manmiller, Brian Krummel and Albert chased him down.
Godown looped it in the first turn setting up a seven-car accident in which Nate Christman, running for the first time all year, took a slow roll for the 21st lap red. All drivers were thankfully uninjured, but the same couldn’t be said for the cars of Brett Kressley and Tim Buckwalter as they were out of contention. Christman later returned during another caution, but he couldn’t continue because he was three laps down. Strunk maintained first on the restart, but Pauch, Manmiller, Von Dohren and Krummel gave him no margin to error.
Strunk was able to increase the distance as the race progressed since Pauch and VonDohren battled for the runner-up spot because VonDohren cleared Pauch on the 28th lap and took chase after Strunk.
By the 32nd lap VonDohren gained a tremendous amount of ground on Strunk when the front runners encountered heavy lap traffic.
VonDohren had just moved ahead, but before the lap counted, a mandatory pit stop on the 45th lap made the move void. The first five on the restart consisted of Strunk, VonDohren, Manmiller and Kevin Hirthler, who started 22nd and 21st place starter Jared Umbenhauer. It wasn’t long before Kenny Gilmore joined the mix and got past Umbenhauer for fifth.
Ryan Watt regrouped the pack with 16 laps to go when he stopped in the fourth turn for a yellow. Strunk wasted no time punching the accelerator on the restart because he knew VonDohren was just waiting to pounce if he faltered.
Strunk never gave up until he was in Victory Lane for his biggest win of the year followed by VonDohren, Hirthler, Gilmore and Mike Gular, who came through from 27th. Rounding out the top ten were Manmiller, Umbenhauer, Krummel, Frank Cozze and Brandon Grosso.
Cozze, Hirthler, Justin Grim, Brett Kressley and Krummel won the five qualifying heats. Mike Lisowski and Danny Erb won the consolation races to advance to the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20-lap race which was the last chance to get into the Freedom.
Brett Kressley garnered an extra $1,000 by winning the 10-lap Pioneer Metal Roofing Cash Dash.
Ryan Beltz, Willman, Billy Pauch Jr., Rick Laubach and Matt Stangle were able to earn starting berths in the Freedom by being the top five finishers in the Minuteman race.
