RYAN BELTZ WINS FREEDOM 38’ER SPORTSMAN FEATURE AND KYLE SMITH TAKES MASS SPRINT CAR WIN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 16, 2017. . . Seasoned veteran Ryan Beltz fought it out with youngster Ryan Lilick right down to the wire to go on and claim a very popular win, Friday night at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA, pocketing $1,500 for his triumph in the fourth annual Sportsman Freedom 38’er. With his win, the 43-year-old Beltz became the 13th different driver to earn a Sportsman feature win this season, taking his first win this season, the second of his career and his first since May 28, 2016. The win makes Beltz the fourth different driver to win the event in its four-year race history.
In a companion 25-lap feature event for the Mid-Atlantic 305 Sprint Series at the high-banked third-mile dirt track, a dominating triumph was scored by Kyle Smith in his first visit ever to the track.
“I am certain I drove the only four coil car at the track tonight to victory,” announced Beltz, following a roof dance in victory lane. “I’ve got to give thanks to Ryan Watt for all the help he has given us this season, plus Bicknell Race Cars. We just went back to basics tonight. We had a different engine in and just haven’t had a lot of luck here the last few weeks. We had a good race car and everything just came together for us here tonight.”
Following the heat races the top 20 qualified cars, all, picked for spots in a blind draw, with Brian Hirthler, 35, out of Perkiomenville, PA picking the pole to start, with former 358 Modified racer Doug Pannepacker pulling outside the front row. Beltz picked third to start in the 26-car starting field.
With the green waved by starter Ray Kemp it was Hirthler setting the early pace aboard his self-owned No. 4* Four Star Letting Sportsman mount over Pannepacker and Beltz through the first five tours. On lap 6 it was Beltz moving into the runner-up role, dropping Pannepacker to third.
With seven in the record books, Hirthler had nearly a full straightaway lead over Beltz, steering his self-owned KAM Fueled Racing No. 221 entry.
Craig Whitmoyer, 42, of Hamburg, PA, who won the event back in 2015 and started from eighth Friday night, was on the move and by lap 13 he advanced into fourth-place behind Beltz and Pannepacker. A lap 19 caution slowed things and regrouped the field, erasing the big lead held by Hirthler.
When racing resumed it was Hirthler out in front again over Whitmoyer, who ducked underneath Beltz through turn 3 on the restart, and Beltz now running in third. Pannepacker fell back to fourth, with Lilick, who started fourteenth, moving to fifth.
By lap 25 Hirthler again started to pull away, holding a comfortable lead.
Lilick began to pick off positions and took fourth with seven circuits to go. A lap later, Whitmoyer saw his night come to an early end when his motor expired in a huge cloud of smoke to bring out the caution with six to go.
On the double-file restart Hirthler selected to start from the outside, putting Beltz on the bottom. With the green, it was Beltz outgunning Hirthler and becoming the new race leader for lap 33. Lilick advanced to third and took second a lap later, as Hirthler dropped back to third.
“He kept picking the top on the restarts and I just kept praying, eventually, I’d get the jump and we did,” Beltz said. “Everybody was going to the top and I figured, eventually, they’d rub everything away up on top and I still had good grip on the bottom. I got a good run on him the previous restart, but he held on.”
With a lap remaining, Lilick hit Beltz hard, but Beltz held on, as they battled for the win.
“When he hit me I wound up losing my brakes. That last lap I was driving it balls to the wall or else without brakes,” explained the driver out of Schwenksville, PA. “I figured at the end if he went high I’d go low and if he stayed low I’d go high. I wasn’t about to give it away and settle for second.”
Racing through turns 3 and 4 with the checkered waving, Lilick drifted up to the top to protect, as Beltz drove it in on the bottom. Beltz had the edge exiting turn 4 and crossed the line first, winning by a narrow margin over Lilick at the line.
Third went to Hirthler, trailed by Brad Grim, Brett Gilmore and Brian Papiez, who started the event from 21st with the original green.
Heat races for 50 Sportsman entries were won by Hirthler, Mike Lisowski, Ryan Higgs and Beltz. Twin consolations went out to Papiez and Matt Stangle.
In the 25-lap Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) feature race it was Brian Krummel, who started outside the front row taking the early lead over pole sitter Steph Carberry and third-starter Austin Bishop. By lap 6, Krummel held a safe lead.
Lap 12 it was still Krummel setting a torrid pace, as Bishop slipped into second, as the leaders raced through heavy slower, lapped traffic. Carberry fell into third. A lap later, Samantha Lieberman spun out in turn 3, as Bishop tried to avoid the spinning car. Bishop darted to the outside and smacked the boiler plate wall hard to bring out the red at the crossed flags.
With the restart it was Carberry outracing Krummel off turn 4 to become the new race leader. Smith roared into second spot, with Krummel falling to third. Smith quickly went by Carberry to become the new race leader, with Carberry dropping to second on lap 15. A lap later Krummel spun it out in turn 2 to bring out a caution.
Smith retook the top spot in front of Carberry and by lap 21 Smith was nearly a full straightaway out in front of Carberry. Eddie Wagner was running third, with Dave Brown now fourth.
Smith easily secured the win, with Carberry, Wagner, Eddie Strada and Tim Tanner Jr. chasing him.
Heat races for 30 Sprint Cars were claimed by Wagner, Bishop and Krummel. The consolation win went to Stephanie Dodson.
Some 25 358 Modified cars were also on hand for several practice sessions throughout the evening of racing.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY OFFERING TWO BIG NIGHTS OF RACING, SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, TOPPED BY $30,000 TO WIN FREEDOM 76 FEATURING A BEVY OF TOP RACING TALENTS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 15, 2017 . . . The excitement, the action, of the 47th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic In Honor of Bruce Rogers is already started. There are campers in place as they set up their home for the weekend on the Grandview Speedway grounds.
Tonight fans will be entertained with a doubleheader show of Mid Atlantic Sprint Series 305 Sprints and Sportsman stock cars as they get warmed up for the big show, the Freedom 76, on Saturday. Point leader Bill Stief has Tommy Carberry chasing him for the MASS title. Just two points separate the top two with Eddie Wagner, Tim Tanner Jr and Jeff Geiges close behind.
The Sportsman racers will be racing in the Freedom 38’er that pays $1,500 to the winner. Actually only those who survive the qualifying events will get to chase for the $1,500. Most of the track regulars are expected to see action with a number of visitors.
Racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m. with adult admission priced at just $12. Youngsters 6 through 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted for free. Pit admission, no license required, is $30. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Fans are reminded that advance tickets for the Freedom 76 will be on sale Friday night. Adult tickets are $35 while on Saturday the price is $40. Youngsters 6 through 11 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit passes are $45 with no license required.
Bright and early on Saturday dozens of Modifieds will be making their way into the pit area to be inspected. Activities start with pit gates open at 9 a.m. Competitors must be registered by 4 p.m. while competitors will draw for starting positions at 4:30 p.m. A drivers meeting is set for 5:15 p.m. with warm-ups at 6 p.m.
Additional drivers, in addition to those already announced, include feature winners Clay Butler, Brian Krummel, Kevin Hirthler and Brett Kressley. Fan favorites entered include Bobby Gunther Walsh, John Willman, Joe “Geezer” Fanelli, Ken Gilmore, Mike Laise, Ron Seltman, Ryan Beltz, Kory Fleming, Nate Christman, Justin Grim, veteran Doug Pannepacker, and other surprise last minute entries representing a variety of area speedways.
Advance ticketholders will be admitted on Saturday at 3 p.m. with ticket windows open at 3:30 p.m. Racing gets the green at 7 p.m. A full slate of qualifying events, the Pioneer Metal Roofing Cash Dash, Schaefer Motorsports Minuteman 20 leading up to the grand finale the $30,000 to win Freedom 76.
Parking and camping is available on the speedway grounds. Some areas, not on the speedway grounds, will have fees.

The latest top talents to enter the Classic are Jimmy Horton, recently declared Modified champion at Orange County Speedway, and Stewart Friesen who has been racing in the NASCAR Truck Series along with winning in dirt track Modifieds. Friesen is a past winner of the Freedom 76. 2017 Grandview NASCAR Sportsman champion Brian Hirthler will be moving up to the Modifieds to challenge for the big win.
However there is actually two nights of racing excitement going on as the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series 305 Sprints are featured in doubleheader action on Friday night along with the Freedom 38’er Sportsman race paying $1500 to win.
The hard-charging Sprinters known for their action racing on the one-third-mile, banked clay track and the exciting Sportsman stock cars will get fans warmed up for the great racing action they will see on Saturday night with the Modified stock cars. Rick Stief leads Tommy Carberry by just 2 points in the MASS point standings. And Modified racers planning to be part of the Saturday action are welcome to run some practice laps.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 10, 2017 . . . Many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing have won the Freedom 76 Classic at Grandview Speedway. And there are many top names in the sport that are still without a win in the prestigious race. Many past winners and non-winners will be entered in the September 16th 47th Annual Freedom 76 Run in Honor of Bruce Rogers, the richest event of its type in the area, looking to grab the $30,000 first place money and the prestige that goes with the victory.
Some of the past winners of the Freedom 76 include Fred Rahmer, Doug Hoffman, Billy Pauch (six times a winner), Ray Swinehart, Stewart Friesen, Kenny Brightbill, Meme DeSantis (three times a winner), Craig VonDohren (a five time winner), Jeff Strunk (six times a winner including last year) Duane Howard ( four wins) and the list goes on. Some of them will be back trying to add to their impressive resumes.
And there will be many top names looking to gain that first win. Entered are Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Godown, Ryan Watt, Mike Gular, Mike Mahaney, Jared Umbenhauer, Doug Manmiller, Mike Lisowski, Clay Butler, Bobby Trapper, Brian Krummel, Tim Buckwalter, Brian and Brett Kressley, with many more to come.

The night before the Freedom 76 there will be a doubleheader show featuring the Sportsman stock cars and Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series 305 Sprints. Sportsman will top their night with a 38-lap feature, the Freedom 38’er paying $1500 to win. Modifieds entered in the Freedom 76 will be allowed practice time. Adult admission is $12 while youngsters, 6 thru 11, pay $5 and kids under 6 enter free.
Racing both nights starts at 7 p.m.
Rain date for the Freedom 76 is Saturday, September 23rd while the night before events will not be rescheduled should there be a rainout.
Camping on the speedway grounds is permitted in the 4th turn area of the parking lot. There are no hookups available. No open fires are permitted. No saving of spaces allowed. Some areas for parking may have fees.
The 47th annual Freedom 76 will close out the regular Saturday night schedule of racing events except for the October 14th Thunder on the Hill Halloween Party that will feature the Mods at the Madhouse Big Block/358 Modifieds in a 40 lapper, Sportsman and MASS Sprints.

BUTLER AND KRESSLEY WIN RAINED OUT MODIFIED FEATURE FROM AUGUST 12TH, MAHANEY WINS SECOND MODIFIED FEATURE WHILE EGRIE WINS LATE MODEL MAIN AND KEMMERER TAKES SPORTSMAN FEATURE
VONDOHREN, SCHUTZ AND BRIAN HIRTHLER WIN NASCAR TRACK TITLES
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. September 10, 2017 – Racing action on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway sponsored by WNPV 1440 AM Radio, Lansdale, certainly had its share of varieties in all divisions.
Both Skip and Walt Smith paced the feature fields for all divisions in the Blast From The Past Red No. 2 driven by Dave Smith who lost his life in a freak highway incident while working for the township. Dave was the father of sportsman driver Derrick Smith.
In the rained out T.P. Trailers 358 NASCAR Modified 30-lap feature from August 19 it was Clay Butler, who became a track regular mid-season crossing the line first to register his first career win at the oval to become the 13th different winner. However due to an official error with the caution light, Brett Kressley, who had taken the lead on the 29th lap also shared the win.
Mike Gular had slowed down and as quick as the yellow went on it was turned off. By that time Kressley had backed off the throttle and Butler along with Jared Umbenhauer shot past him, but the yellow was never officially thrown. Management felt it was only fair to credit both Butler and Kressley with the wins.
Mike Mahaney, who travels from New York to pilot the Rod Breitenstein-owned No. 14 on occasion, had a rather dismal start to the season when he competed, but once the team discovered it was an electrical problem, they were in the hunt. Mahaney went from fourth to first by the second lap and despite yellow flags that fell when he needed them to regroup the pack when he encountered heavy lap traffic, he still pulled into victory lane to be the 14th different winner and chalk up his first career triumph at the track.
In the BRC 20-lap NASCAR Late Model feature Lou Egrie Sr. inherited the lead when Wayne Pfeil dropped out with mechanical problems and went on to capture his first win of the year to become the seventh different winner. The last time the two-time point champion had won was April 2015.
Mark Kemmerer added his name to the win list in the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature for his first win of the year to become the division’s 12th different winner. He dedicated the win to fellow driver Derrick Smith’s father Dave.
All feature winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and VP Racing Fuels providing they met the requirements along with the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie awards.
The night’s biggest winners were the newly crowned 2017 point champions.
Modified chauffeur Craig Von Dohren only won two features in the chase, but he still managed to record his 10th championship.
Chuck Schutz, a four-time Late Model feature winner garnered his ninth point title.
Opening night Sportsman feature winner Brian Hirthler went on to claim his first championship.
In the make-up Modified feature, Mark Kratz led for seven laps before Jeff Strunk hit the first turn yuke tire sending it onto the track bringing out the yellow. On the restart Butler charged to the head of the pack leaving Kratz, Kressley, Steve Swinehart and Umbenhauer battling for positions.
Lap after lap the battle for first ensued between Butler and Kressley with neither one giving up.
The caution was displayed after Kratz and Umbenhauer got hooked on the 17th lap. Umbenhauer broke free and continued, but Kratz stopped in turn two. The red was thrown the next try when a multi-car accident blocked the third turn. Butler and Kressley continued the duel, but now Frank Cozze and Umbenhauer were in the mix.
Kressley just took the lead on lap 29, but quickly slowed when the yellow light came on briefly, but quickly went out as Gular limped around the track. As a result Butler and Umbenhauer got by and Butler continued into the winner’s circle. After a turn of events, track management declared Butler and Kressley the winners following the error. Umbenhauer was third followed by Cozze and S. Swinehart.
The second Modified feature saw Mahaney take the lead from Mark Biehn on the second lap in search of a victory trailed by Biehn, Kratz and Kenny Gilmore.
Brett Gilmore brought out the yellow as he stopped in turn two on lap five. On the restart, Kenny Gilmore, who had overtaken second, made contact with Mahaney. Gilmore did a 360 without losing a position, but others in the back weren’t as fortunate and a multi-car tangle occurred. The top five behind Mahaney when racing went green again consisted of K. Gilmore, Cozze, Duane Howard and Von Dohren.
In no time Mahaney checked out increasing the distance each time he circled the 1/3-mile oval.
K. Gilmore’s fine run ended with four laps to go when he stopped in the second turn. This restart saw Ryan Watt in a challenging position.
On the 29th lap restart needed when Cozze broke with suspension problems, Strunk was once again in the first turn yuke tire. Also involved were Addison Meitzler and Danny Erb. Gular was sent to the pits for the incident. Mahaney left Watt chase him on the restart and succeeded in keeping all the competition behind.
Mahaney never faltered and was victorious followed by Watt, Von Dohren, Howard and Umbenhauer.
Heats were won by Mahaney, B. Gilmore, Strunk and Meitzler. Ron Seltmann Jr. and Butler won the consolation races.
Saturday, September 16 these same drivers plus a host of others will compete in the 47th running of the Freedom 76 in memory of promoter Bruce Rogers with $30,000 going to the winner in addition to other awards.
In the Late Model feature Wayne Pfeil’s misfortune was Egrie’s fortune when Pfeil pulled out of the race on the sixth lap when a red flag was needed as flames shot out of the headers of Schutz’s car putting him out of contention.
Pressuring Egrie on the restart were Bryon Sipe, Drew Weisser, Kyle Merkel, who started dead last and was advancing quickly and Steve Todorow.
Even though numerous yellows were needed, Egrie Sr. didn’t give up until he saw the checkered unfurled.
Andrew Kreis was the leader of the Sportsman feature for eight laps before Ryan Higgs, while running second hit the second turn tire and spun also collecting Jim Housworth. When racing went green again Kemmerer was the new leader and within no time opened up a comfortable lead.
The action for second through fifth was a heated one, between Kyle Lilick, Louden Reimert, Brad Arnold and Lex Shive.
Kemmerer never looked back and went on to score his second career win trailed by K. Lilick, Reimert, Arnold and Mike Lisowski.
Heats were won by Kreis, Housworth and Jesse Landis while Brian Hirthler took the consi.
The 47th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic in Honor of Bruce Rogers is set for Saturday, September 16th. The will pay $30,000 to the winner and is expected to attract many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing. Action will get underway at 7 p.m.
The night before the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series will be in action along with the Sportsman racing in the Freedom 38’er offering $1500 to the winner. Modifieds entered in the Freedom 76 will be allowed to participate in practice sessions. Adult admission is $12, youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5 and under 6 are admitted free. Advance tickets, $35 for adults, for the Freedom 76 will be available Friday night.
The Freedom 76 has a September 23rd rain date while the Friday night events have no rain date.

PAUCH AND STRUNK, SIX TIME WINNERS, GOING FOR SEVENTH WIN IN 47TH ANNUAL FREEDOM 76 CLASSIC IN MEMORY OF BRUCE ROGERS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
$30,000 TO THE WINNER OF THE ANNUAL CLASSIC ON SEPTEMBER 16
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 27, 2017 . . . Two of the top talents in dirt track Modified stock car racing, Billy Pauch Sr. and Jeff Strunk, will be trying to claim their seventh win in the rich 47th Annual Freedom 76 Classic In Memory of Bruce Rogers. The race, which attracts many of the best racers in the business, will pay at least $30,000 to the winner on Saturday, September 16th at Grandview Speedway.
Current NASCAR TP Trailers Modified point leader Craig VonDohren has five wins in the Classic and will be looking for his sixth while veteran Duane Howard tries for his fifth victory. Meme DeSantis is rumored to be ready to try for his fourth victory. Those looking for their second Freedom 76 win will include Ray Swinehart and possibly Stewart Friesen.
Popular racing talents that have not been able to win this event include Mike Gular, Brett Kressley, Doug Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer, Ryan Watt and a long list of others. They are all hoping to be able to add their name to the list.
Early entries for the Freedom 76 include Jeff Strunk, Mike Gular, Jared Umbenhauer, Mike Mahaney, Danny Erb, Doug Manmiller and Mike Lisowski. Billy Pauch Sr. and Jr. have advised track management that they will be participating.
A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the 47th Freedom 76 with a Cash Dash paying $1,000 thrown in.
Adult admission on race day is $40 but fans buying advance tickets will pay just $35. Advance tickets are sold at the speedway each Saturday night when NASCAR races are presented. Youngsters 6 through 11 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Rain date is Saturday, September 23.
On Friday, September 15th, Modified racers looking for some practice time will be able to do just that as a doubleheader featuring Sportsman and Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Sprinters is presented. Adult admission is $12 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free. The Sportsman will be racing for $1500 to win in the Freedom 38’er. There is no license required for the Sportsman racers. There is no rain date in place for this event.
Rain date for the Freedom 76 is September 23 but there is not rain date for the Friday event.

SHUEY WINS BRC LATE MODEL 30; BUCKWALTER WINS TP TRAILERS MODIFIEDS WHILE YOUNG AND SMITH TOPS IN SPORTSMAN FEATURES ON BRC NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 27, 2017 . . . The outcome of the 30-lap BRC NASCAR Late Model feature on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway came down to a photo finish between Brian Shuey and current point leader and defending champion Chuck Schutz. Shuey was declared the winner for his second win of the year in the event sponsored by Bernheisel Race Components. In order to qualify for the $15,000 in products and $40,000 in discount certificates, each competitor had to display the BRC decals on both sides of their car. Shuey was just glad he could hold off Schutz’s challenges when the pair races side-by-side because, “Schutz had the lane to take the lead away, but I just never gave up exclaimed the winded winner in victory lane. He commented he has had his share of ups and downs this season and luck just hasn’t been on his side.”
The T.P. Trailers 358 NASCAR Modified 30-lap feature also went down to the wire. Tim Buckwalter, who recently returned to the track behind the wheel of the Norm Saxton-owned No. 24, held off veteran campaigner Frank Cozze’s closing lap bids to claim his first win of the season and his second career win to become the 12th different winner in the division. Buckwalter thanked his owner, who Tim was actually directed to him through fellow driver Billy Pauch, and all his crew for their countless efforts.
Two new names were added to the books in the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman features. Steve Young, driving the Marshall’s Home Comfort Services No. 187, narrowly beat out runner-up Jim Housworth by 0.068 second to record his first ever career victory. The event was the race rained out from the August 19 portion of the show.
The Sportsman feature from the regular segment was closer yet. In the photo finish win, sophomore racer Derrick Smith, piloting a 602 crate engine crossed the line 0.029 seconds ahead of defending point champion Jordan Henn. Smith, who didn’t expect to be in the winner’s circle had no idea that Henn was there until the end.
All feature winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and product vouchers from VP Racing Fuel providing all necessary requirements were met.
Shuey, Buckwalter, Young and Andrew Kreis were the recipients of the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie bonuses.
The Late Model feature saw Shuey shoot past polesitter Lou Egrie Sr. to put the Scott Lee owned car at the head of the 17-car starting grid trailed by Egrie Sr., Bryon Sipe, Jordan Knepp and Steve Todorow.
In no time Shuey had a comfortable lead built up and by the sixth lap encountered slower-moving traffic.
The first and only caution was when Shawn Horning spun in the second turn on the 13th lap putting the field right on Shuey’s bumper. Shuey turned it up a bit on the restart since by this time Schutz, who started eighth, was in the runner-up spot giving Shuey no margin to error.
The former point champions were nip ‘n tuck as the pair put on a fierce side-by-side duel. Schutz would edge ahead slightly, but when the lap counted Shuey was the leader.
It was anyone’s guess as to what the outcome would be, but when the checkered unfurled Shuey was the one that pulled into the winner’s circle beating out Schutz by inches. Todorow was third followed by Egrie Sr. and Drew Weisser.
Bobby Gunther-Walsh quickly took the early lead at the onset of the T.P.Trailers Modified feature.
Brett Kressley, while running sixth, spun in the second turn and collected Jared Umbenhauer and Jeff Strunk ending the night for all three on the fourth lap caution. Gunther-Walsh held his pace when action resumed with Buckwalter pressuring him.
The lead changed on the sixth lap when Buckwalter motored into first leaving Gunther-Walsh, Mark Kratz, Steve Swinehart, Ryan Grim and John Willman in a five-car battle for second.
Five laps later Buckwalter had a commanding lead built up and it was now Swinehart in pursuit.
The field regrouped when Brian Krummel, a feature winner this year, spun in the first turn for the second and final caution. Buckwalter wasted no time moving out on the restart to maintain his spot.
With ten laps to go, 16th-place starter Cozze overtook second and used the lap cars to his advantage to close the gap and quickly catch Buckwalter.
As the laps wound down Cozze was getting closer and closer to Buckwalter.
Buckwalter was determined to keep Cozze behind him and he did just that. At the drop of the checkered he earned a hard-fought battle with Cozze, S. Swinehart, posting his best finish of the year; Willman and Doug Manmiller chasing his across.
Gunther-Walsh, S. Swinehart and Kratz won the heats. Danny Erb, returning for the first time since his health issues several months ago, won the consi.
In the rained out August 19th Sportsman feature, Andrew Kreis led three laps before Young took the outside lane off turn four and became the new leader.
While Young showed the way, Kenny Bock and Kreis diced for second with Ryan Higgs, Jack Butler and Kyle Lilick jockeying for the remaining positions.
Jack Butler overtook second on lap 13 to challenge Young, but his night ended when the engine left go nine laps later bringing out the yellow. Mike Lisowski, who had previously took over second had to pit since smoke was bellowing out his car. Their misfortune put Housworth in second and he made several attempts to pass Young the final remaining laps.
Housworth tried many moves to pass Young, but each one failed and Young went on to collect the win. Housworth had to settle for second followed by Bock, K. Lilick and Jordan Henn.
The second Sportsman feature saw Kreis once again take the early lead and he stayed glued to the bottom while action him was hot and heavy for the remaining spots between Smith, Bock, Louden Reimert and Dylan Swinehart.
A fourth turn tangle between Kyle Lilick, Housworth and Ryan Shupp brought out the yellow on lap 18. On this restart Smith charged to the front of the pack leaving Reimert, Henn and Ryan Lilick battle for second which gave Smith some breathing room.
Henn passed Reimert with two to go and was all over Smith pressuring him for first.
Smith never surrendered the lead and went on to narrowly claim a well-deserved win followed by Henn, Reimert, R. Lilick and Craig Whitmoyer.
Brad Grim won the August 19 consi.
Heat winners in the regular show were John McGovern, Smith and Bock. Lisowski won the consi.
Coming up on September 2nd is four division show of racing that will include the TP Trailers Modifieds, BRC Late Models, Sportsman and Blast from the Past Vintage racers. In addition the Modifieds will run in two 30-lap features including the rained out feature from August 19th. Again adults pay just $15 while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free.
Advance tickets for the 47th Annual Freedom 76 Run in Memory of Bruce Rogers will be on sale each Saturday leading up to September 16th. Advance tickets are $35 for adults. On race day the tickets will sell for $40.
