LAFFLER CARS COULD DOMINATE THREE QUARTER MIDGET INDOOR RACES; NAPA KNOW HOW ATLANTIC CITY RACE JOINED BY BATTLE OF TRENTON EVENT AS PART OF FATHEADZ EYEWEAR SERIES
TRENTON, NJ December 19, 2013 . . . A formerly little-known race car builder in upstate Ransomville, New York has become the most sought after constructor of Indoor Three quarter Midget cars based on past performance. Mark Lafler has built no less than ten new TQ Midgets for the 2014 Len Sammons Motorsports Productions Indoor season which consists of the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Races scheduled for Friday and Saturday January 24 and 25 and the first annual Battle Of Trenton Indoor Races presented by PRC Industries/ Angela House Charity planned for February 7 and 8, 2014.
Fatheadz Eyewear will be returning as the series sponsor and will pay bonuses to the top three overall TQ Midget drivers from the two race series. Drivers will receive points based on their qualifying efforts and feature finishes from Friday and Saturday night at both events towards the overall series crown.
“It’s been a busy year,” understated Mark Lafler. “I’m a one man shop but I was able to turn out a car a month. I could have done a lot more if I was building cars full time.” Steering new Laflers indoors for both events will be upstate New York asphalt Modified standout Patrick Emerling, dirt and pavement favorite Jimmy Blewett, NASCAR Sprint Cup team member and former Wall Stadium driver Ryan Flores, multi-time Indoor TQ winner and reigning ISMA Supermodified champion Lou Cicconi Jr., perennial TQ and full size Midget great Matt Roselli, 358 Dirt Modified rising star Neal Williams, DIRTcar 358 2013 Sportsman champion Erick Rudolph, veteran TQ driver Jonathan Reid and past multi-time Indoor race winner Joey Payne. ‘Used’ Laflers will be campaigned by asphalt Modified star Zane Zeiner and CAN AM Outdoor 2013 TQ Midget champion Rob Neely. Both races will feature top drivers from at least ten different States and Canada competing for the Fatheadz Eyewear TQ Midget Racing Series overall title.
Though Lafler has the numbers, other potential favorites are relying on other cars. Anthony Sesely, the defending champion of the Atlantic City headline Saturday night Gamblers Classic, is seeking a repeat win - and wins in the Trenton events - with a new car of his own design. Billy Pauch, a 700-time career feature race winner and past winner indoors in Atlantic City, has entered both races, driving a car bullt and owned by Colin Martin. Martin has other entries in the field as well.
Canadian ISMA Supermodified standout and past champion Mike Lichty has also filed an entry for both races in a homemade creation. Ted Christopher, who has been the most prolific winner of Indoor racing events since Len Sammons Motorsports Productions brought indoor racing back to life in 2003, has built a new car for 2014 action. He has also returned his mega-winning machine as a back-up.
Entries in the Champ Kart and Slingshot classes for NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Races are at capacity, however they are still being accepted for The Battle of Trenton Indoor Race.
TQ Midget entries for the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race are coming in at a near record pace and the have reached capacity for the Battle Of Trenton presented by PRC Industries / Angela House Charity. Interested competitors are still encouraged to file their entries which will be placed on a waiting list.
NAPA AUTO PARTS, the nation’s leader in automotive supplies, has signed on for the second consecutive year as the title sponsor for the Atlantic City Indoor Auto Races. CHRISTOPHER TO TEST, RACE NEW THREE QUARTER MIDGET AT ATLANTIC CITY AND TRENTON INDOOR RACING EVENTS
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ December 9, 2013 . . . Ted Christopher, who has been the most prolific winner of Indoor racing events since Len Sammons Motorsports Productions brought indoor racing back to life in 2003, revealed that he and Donnie Preece, co-owner of the nearly invincible No. 13 Three Quarter Midget, have built a new car for 2014 action. The car is scheduled for a test session at Borgers Speedway on Saturday, December 14 pending weather issues and the completion of the car.
“It’s a copy of the other car but lighter,” Christopher said. “Bob Fill, who does a lot of the Late Models and Pro Stocks at Thompson and Stafford, helped with the building. It’s nothing crazy, some new ideas and some new angles.” Christopher and Preece have retained their existing car as well and may field it as a second car in the Atlantic City or the Trenton TQ races.
“ The one big difference between the cars is that this one has power steering,” Christopher said. “It should make it a little easier to wheel.”
The newly designed car will have a lot to live up to. Since 2009, Christopher has won an outstanding 7 of 16 Indoor Races he has entered. Christopher also won the overall Indoor Series title in 2011 and 2012.
Christopher won the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship in 2008. He has 42 career wins on that tour alone. For 2014, Christopher will look to dethrone Anthony Sesely of Matawan, NJ who won the Fatheadz Indoor Series title last year on the heels of his first career Atlantic City Indoor Race victory.
Fatheadz Eyewear will be returning as the series sponsor and will pay bonuses to the top three overall TQ Midget drivers from the two race series. Drivers will receive points based on their qualifying efforts and feature finishes from Friday and Saturday night at both events towards the overall series crown.
The NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race Weekend will be followed by the first ever Battle of Trenton two-day, indoor racing event at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J. Both races will feature top drivers from at least ten different States and Canada competing for the Fatheadz Eyewear TQ Midget Racing Series overall title.
John Blewett, Inc., of Howell, N.J., a prominent auto and steel scrap recycling dealer, has posted bonuses for the two Saturday TQ Midget feature races totaling $1,000. At both Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and Sun Bank Center in Trenton, Blewett’s has posted $100 in added prize money for each of the top five finishing spots.
Jimmy Blewett, third generation family business owner, will be among dozens of TQ Midget drivers hoping to collect the bonus bucks. Entries for both events have been filed by Sesely, New Egypt Speedway’s all-time Modified event winner Billy Pauch, 2013 ISMA Supermodified champion perennial fan favorite Lou Cicconi, Jr. of Lester, Pa., past ARDC Midget champion Tim Buckwalter from Royersford, Pa., Bridgeport, NJ Speedway past Modified champion Mike Iles from Medford, N.J., past ISMA Supermodified champion and Indoor TQ race winner Mike Lichty, Valenti Modified Racing Series reigning champion Rowan Pennink of New Egypt, N.J., and three time ATQMRA TQ Midget king Ryan Tidman of Levittown, Pa.
NAPA AUTO PARTS, the nation’s leader in automotive supplies, has signed on for the second consecutive year as the title sponsor for the Atlantic City Indoor Auto Races. The indoor racing inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall is now in its 12th consecutive year of competition. Dates are Friday and Saturday January 24 and 25. 2014. The races will be preceded by a closed to the public, practice session on Thursday, January 23.
The Battle of Trenton Indoor Race schedule set for February 7 and 8, 2014 calls for Twin 20 lap features for the TQ Midgets and a complete program of Slingshots on Friday and a compete program for TQ Midgets and Champ Karts on Saturday.
The two race meets will be extensively promoted at Sammons’ 29th annual Motorsports Show, scheduled for the three-day weekend of January 10-11-12, 2014 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.

TED CHRISTOPHER FILES FIRST TQ ENTRY FOR NAPA KNOW HOW ATLANTIC CITY….BATTLE OF TRENTON INDOOR RACES; MATT ROSELLI, PAUL LOTIER, JR. ALSO ENTER EARLY
TRENTON, NJ November 11, 2013 . . . NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Ted Christopher, Plainville, Ct., whose racing exploits in Indoor TQ Midget racing over the years rival his asphalt Modified successes, was the first driver to submit his entry for the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City (NJ) Indoor Race Weekend of January 24-25, 2014. Christopher was also first in line to enter the inaugural Battle Of Trenton Indoor Race set for February 7 & 8 at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ. TQ Midget racing specialist Matt Roselli of Brodheadsville, Pa., quickly followed Christopher’s NAPA Know How Atlantic City entry while Paul Lotier, Jr., Lebanon, Pa., was became the second entrant of record for the first Sun National Bank Center TQ events.
The two events are being promoted by Trenton-based Len Sammons Motorsports Productions and will make up this year’s Fatheadz Eyewear Indoor Racing Series.
Christopher is expected to be among the favorites in both races. Since taking up the challenge of Indoor TQ Midget racing six years ago, ‘TC’ has won main events six times. Early entries for the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race Weekend have also been received for the Champ Kart and Slingshot divisions. New England kart racing specialist Glen Meisenhelder and dirt track Modified racer Danny Bouc are early registrants in the Champ Kart class, while Mark Sensenig and Steve Yankowski have each signed on for Slingshot action. Bouc has also entered the Battle Of Trenton Champ Kart events, joined by Jonathan Laureigh of Toms River, N.J., while Karl Bettler is the first Slingshot racer to submit a formal entry for Trenton action. Close to two hundred teams over the three classes are expected for the Atlantic City races; space limitations at the Trenton arena mean that early entry is essential to guarantee the opportunity to compete.
Events promoter Sammons advises entrants to register quickly. “We can only take so many cars for the TQ Midgets, Slingshots and Champ Karts in Atlantic City and space is at a greater premium in Trenton,” Sammons said. “It is important to register as soon as possible to avoid being shut out.”
Entry forms for NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race Weekend and for the Battle Of Trenton Indoor races are available online at aarn.com.
The two race meets will be extensively promoted at Sammons’ 29th annual Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Show fueled by Sunoco Race Fuels and distributed by Insinger Performance, scheduled for the three- day weekend of January 10-11-12, 2014 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. NAPA Auto Parts, the nation’s leader in automotive supplies, has signed on for the second consecutive year as the title sponsor for the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Auto Races.
The indoor racing inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall is now in its 12th consecutive year of competition. Dates are Friday and Saturday January 24 and 25. 2014. The races will be preceded by a closed to the public, practice session on Thursday, January 23. The TQ Midgets will once again headline the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race with feature events on Friday and Saturday night with Saturday's event being the prestigious Gambler's Classic. Joining the TQ Midgets during the three day event will be the Herr's Slingshots and Champ Karts. The Slingshots and Champ Karts will run qualifying events on Friday night and feature events on Saturday night.
The NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race Weekend will be followed by the first ever Battle of Trenton two-day, indoor racing event at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J. Both races will feature top drivers from at least ten different States and Canada competing in the Fatheadz Eyewear TQ Midget Racing Series overall title. In 2013, Anthony Sesely used his Atlantic City Indoor Race victory to propel him to the Fatheadz Eyewear Indoor Series title. In 2014 the Fatheadz Eyewear title will be decided on Saturday night during the Battle of Trenton Indoor Race. A complete program including qualifying and feature events will be held at the Sun National Bank Center for the TQ Midgets on Friday and Saturday night, February 7 and 8, 2014.
The Sun National Bank Center schedule calls for Twin 20 lap features for the TQ Midgets and compete program of Slingshots on Friday and a compete program for TQ Midgets and Champ Karts on Saturday.
Other expected entries for both the NAPA KNOW HOW Atlantic City Indoor Race Weekend and Battle of Trenton TQ Midget races include, New Egypt Speedway's all-time Modified event winner Billy Pauch, 2013 ISMA Supermodified champion and perennial fan favorite Lou Cicconi, Jr. of Lester, Pa.

JEFF STRUNK EARNS MORE THAN $25,000 AS WINNER OF SECOND STRAIGHT BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 15, 2013 . . . For the second year in a row Jeff Strunk was able to take home the big bucks in the $25,000 to win 43rd Annual BPG Racing Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway on Saturday. The win gave the nine time track champion his fifth victory in the Freedom 76 Classic and helped his mom celebrate her birthday. More than 70 racers, many of the top names in the sport including five former Syracuse DIRT Classic winners, tried to earn starting spots in the 33 car starting field with a very large crowd on hand.
Rick Laubach took the lead at the drop of the green but Jeff Strunk, coming from 4th starting position, went to the front on the second lap and set the pace for the entire 76-lap race. Canadian racer Stewart Friesen, a pre-race favorite, came to a stop in the fourth turn early in the race done for the night earning a last place finish. However Strunk’s winning effort was not as easy as it might seem for the veteran racer and his Keizer Aluminum Wheels sponsored modified.
Early in the race Ryan Watt, a regular at Bridgeport Speedway, moved into position to challenge Strunk for the lead and continued to challenge him through the 44th lap. Billy Pauch Jr. ran third for 19 laps before Meme DeSantis, coming from 16th starting spot, moved into third and put pressure on second place Watt.
With one third of the race completed track champion Craig VonDohren, considered a pre-race favorite, tangled with an infield marker and damaged the front end of the race car putting him out of the race just as he was starting to make his move through the field.
At the 43-lap marker a fuel stop closed up the field on the leader. Just two laps later DeSantis charged into second and put pressure on the leader. With 50 laps completed Duane Howard, who had started in 24th position, moved into third place. The top three battled for the top spot for the final 26 laps but despite some strong efforts could not catch the hard charging Strunk.
With the checkered flag waving Jeff Strunk, who calls Pottstown home, was able to claim the win in the rich classic by a narrow margin over Temple’s Meme DeSantis and Oley racer Duane Howard. Fourth place was earned by New Jersey racer Ryan Godown, coming from 21st starting position, while Ryan Watt, Boyertown, a challenger for the top spot for much of the first half, finished fifth.
Just prior to the start of the BPG Racing Freedom 76 Ernie Saxton, track announcer for 45 years, was honored with his own microphone a beautiful photograph signed by many of those involved in the racing at Grandview. Saxton has announced his retirement as the official announcer but will continue to handle the public relations and marketing which has done for 47 years.
Qualifying heats, 12 laps each, were won by Ryan Watt, Kenny Gilmore, Keith Hoffman, Meme DeSantis, Doug Manmiller, Ryan Godown and Stewart Friesen. Consolation races, each 10 laps, went to Frank Cozze and Kyle Borror.
The Schaffer Motorsports Minuteman 20, giving the top four finishers starting spots in the BPG Freedom 76, was won by Jon Kellner Sr. followed by Ray Swinehart, Kevin Hirthler and Don Norris Jr.
