JAMIE KOSTIC AND KENNY GILMORE ARE FEATURE WINNERS IN SPECIAL SUNDAY NIGHT DOUBLEHEADER AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 24, 2013. . . Jamie Kostic earned a page in the Grandview Speedway history book as he drove his Amsoil sponsored No. 10J to victory in the 20-lap Hillborn Fuel Injection TSRS 305 Sprint feature race becoming the winner of the first 305 Sprint feature race ever run at the Berks County clay oval. In the companion 25-lap Sportsman feature Kenny Gilmore was able to wheel his Werley’s Cleaners No. 7 to victory giving him his second win of the weekend. The Fleetwood, PA racer was also able to win the Sportsman feature on Saturday on the same one-third-mile, banked clay oval.

In the 20-lap feature for 305 sprints David Martin led the field to the green but Stef Palmai was able to quickly charge to the front and lead for 14 laps holding off strong challenges from Kostic and Martin. On the 13th circuit a unique situation happened with David Martin being spun by Kostic in the second turn. Officials put Martin back in the second place position and Kostic received no penalty. Two laps later Martin was able to charge to the front and set the pace for three circuits before Kostic was able to use the outside to his advantage and take the top spot on the 18th lap and lead the balance of the race. The Swedesboro, NJ racer had a comfortable lead at the finish with Mark Bitner trying to close in to challenge but had to settle for second. Third place went to David Martin followed by Billy Pauch Jr., coming from 14th, and Kyle Reinhardt.

Tim Tanner took a violent end over end flip in the first turn during the early laps of the feature but was not injured.

Kevin Hirthler, filling in for his brother in the Pioneer Pole Buildings No. 4*, led the field of Sportsman stock cars at the start and held the first place position through 20 laps with Kenny Gilmore who challenged throughout the racer grabbing the lead on the 21st circuit and leading the rest of the way to gain his second feature win of the weekend. Finishing second was Hirthler (Boyertown) followed by Brad Brightbill (Sinking Spring), Joe Funk (Coopersburg) and Craig Whitmoyer (Hamburg).

In victory lane Gilmore said, “We used this as a practice session and tried something different.” Apparently it work as he claimed the win after also winning the Saturday night Sportsman feature. The race was a non-point event so it did not improve his position in the chase for the title as he trails Jared Umbenhauer.

Qualifying heat races, each 8 laps, for the 35 TSRS 305 Sprints were won by David Martin, Adam Carberry, Stef Palmai and Jeff Schall. Consolation races for the Sprints, again 8 laps, had wins earned by Tim Tanner and Kyle Reinhardt. Eight lap qualifiers for the Sportsman had wins going to Kenny Gilmore and Brad Brightbill.

Coming up on Saturday, August 31, 7:30 p.m. is an action packed tripleheader featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. Just two point races remain as racers battle for the various division point titles. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted free.

SAXTON TO PRESENT FIRST PHILADELPHIA AREA SPONSORSHIP SEMINAR IN FIVE YEARS

LANGHORNE, PA August 8, 2013 . . . “It has been a while ( about five years) since I last did a sponsorship seminar/workshop in the Philadelphia area,” said sponsorship marketing expert Ernie Saxton. “I just feel the time is right and I keep getting so many requests so I am putting one together.”

Saxton will present a three hour sponsorship seminar/workshop designed for the local and regional racer from all forms of motorsports on Saturday, November 23rd at 9 a.m. The seminar/workshop will cover everything a racer needs to know to go after serious sponsorship support in a professional manner with more chance of success. Attendees are invited to bring their questions as there will be a question and answer session that follows the seminar.

“Seeking sponsorship has changed quite a bit since the last time I did one of these in the Philadelphia area,” said Saxton. “And sponsorship keeps changing. Forget about painting the name of a business on the race car and calling it sponsorship. That is a very, very small part of sponsorship these days. I will be sharing with attendees what is new to make sponsorship happen.”

The seminar is priced at $50 and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Only 50 registrations will be accepted. After September 15th the price to register will increase to $75. And there are group rates available for groups of five or more.

Each seminar registration will include a free subscription to Saxton’s popular sponsorship newsletter Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News which is now approaching its 29th year of publication. A one year subscription to the newsletter usually sells for at least $39.95.

To register telephone 215.752.7797 and have a Visa or MasterCard credit card ready. Or you can mail a check payable to ESC, Inc., 1448 Hollywood Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047.

Saxton, a veteran of more than 40 years in the motorsports marketing industry, is available to represent teams seeking serious sponsorship support. A number of do-it-yourself sponsorship helps are available at www.saxtonsponsormarket.com.

$25,000 WAITING FOR WINNER OF FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 8, 2013 . . . The biggest event of the season at Grandview Speedway, the annual BPG Racing Freedom 76, is set for Saturday, September 14th. And as it has for so many years the 76-lap race for Modified stock cars will reward the winner with the largest first place offering of any weekly short track in the Northeast, $25,000.

Three of the racers expected to be factors in the battle for the big payday are current NASCAR 358 Modified point leader Craig VonDohren, defending 358 Modified champion Duane Howard and defending race winner Jeff Strunk. Between the three there have been 20 track titles earned at Grandview Speedway. Strunk had nine titles, VonDohren has earned the championship six times and Howard has five titles. All three are currently in the running for the NASCAR 358 title at the Berks County clay oval and all three have to be considered strong favorites for a win in the BPG Racing Freedom 76.

Strunk was a huge winner in the race last season when he picked up more than $50,000 for his winning efforts. The increased winner’s share was in honor of the 50th anniversary season.

There is a long list of racing talents expected to be included in the race with entries expected to start arriving shortly.

A full series of qualifying events will be presented to fill out the starting field for the 76 lap race. A Cash Dash will feature the top performers of the night.

The rain date is set for Saturday, September 21.

Adult admission will be $30 while youngsters 6 through 12 will pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free.

There is a special promotion in place that offers an adult ticket and a lap sponsorship for just $40, a package that would normally cost $50 with all money going into the lap sponsorship fund. A lap sponsorship without the ticket purchase is just $20. The ticket/lap package or lap sponsorships are available from Marilyn Saxton in the track office or contact Ernie Saxton at the track or at 215.752.7797.

Racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

HOWARD, SCHUTZ AND KRESSLEY WIN NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 26, 2013 . . . With five laps left in the 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night there were still five racers in serious contention for the win but when the checkered flag fell it was defending champion Duane Howard taking his third win of the season. In the 25-lap feature for Late Models the win went to Chuck Schutz for the second time this season and put him in front in the battle for his seventh track Late Model title. Brett Kressley grabbed the lead on the 19th lap of the 25-lap Sportsman feature and drove to his second win of the season.
Justin Grim grabbed the early lead in the 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified feature with 29 cars starting the event. Grim was able to hold off challenges from Kyle Follweiler. At the 11 lap marker Mark Kratz’s mount caught fire and that brought out a caution closing up the field. On the restart Follweiler was able to charge to the front and held the top spot until the 18th circuit of the one-third-mile, banked clay track when nine time track champion Jeff Strunk took the lead having come from 14th starting spot.
While all this was going on Duane Howard was working through the field from and had become a contender. A five car battle for the top spot included leader Strunk, Howard, Frank Cozze, Craig VonDohren and Doug Manmiller.
At the 28-lap marker Howard was able to charge under Jeff Strunk with his BPG Racing No. 4 to grab the lead and race to a $2750 payday (including the TP Trailers $250 bonus).
“Strunk ran a great race,” said the Oley racer in victory lane. “Everyone ran clean. We got stuck in the back early but the top worked for us. It was a helluva race.”
Second spot went to Jeff Strunk (Pottstown) followed by Frank Cozze (Wind Gap), Craig VonDohren (Oley) coming from 21st and Doug Manmiller (Shoemakersville).
Howard continues to lead the standings in the chase for the lucrative NASCAR 358 Modified title.
The 25-lap Late Model feature took a couple of tries to get started with a couple of multi car tangles bringing out cautions. Bill Henning, the leader on the first lap, suffered a mechanical failure that put him into the third turn wall.
Once the starting field got settled down Lee Miller set the pace but by the 5th lap Chuck Schutz, coming from 11th, took the lead and went on to win. In the final closing laps, having survived a series of accidents involving several competitors, Schutz held off Sam Schlosberg, who came from 12th starting spot, as he challenged for the lead. Schutz (Pottstown) kept his BPG Racing/Pioneer Pole Buildings No. 1 in front to grab the victory. Schlosberg (Green Lane) had to settle for second for his best effort of the season. Jason Miller (New Tripoli) finished third followed by Mike Kellner (Lansdale) and Steve Nederostek (Walnutport).
“I worried about the restarts because it took a while for my car to get going,” said Schutz when the feature race was over and he was celebrating in victory lane. “I didn’t like the cautions and the crashed cars. The top groove really worked for us.”
With his win Schutz was able to take over the lead in the Late Model point standings.
Lady racer Kaitie McCardle, celebrating her birthday, set the pace in the early laps of the 25-lap Sportsman feature race. Veteran Paul Kline charged to the front on the third lap with McCardle keeping pace.
A mid race caution allowed the field to close up on the leaders and at the 19th lap Brett Kressley, coming from 11th starting spot, was able to put his Kressley Auto and Truck Sales No.19K in front and set the pace to the finish. Paul Kline challenged the leader to the finish but the Muhlenberg racer had to settle for second. Jared Umbenhauer (Richland) finished third followed by McCardle (Honeybrook) and Kyle Borror (Peach Bottom).
“It was pretty much fun,” was the comment from Kressley when interviewed by Channel 13 TV. “The car worked. It was awesome on the bottom.”
Qualifying heat wins for the Late Models (8 laps) went to Rick Todorow and Steve Nederostek. The Sportsman qualifiers (8 laps) were won by Paul Kline, Brad Brightbill and Kaitie McCardle. The Modified qualifiers (12 laps) had victories going to Meme DeSantis, Kyle Follweiler, Tommy Scheetz III and Justin Grim. Consolation wins in the Modified division were earned by Craig VonDohren and Doug Manmiller while the consolation race for Sportsman was won by Craig Whitmoyer.
The Hard Charger award for the Modifieds sponsored by Bobby Gunther Walsh went to Craig VonDohren who started 21st and finished 4th. The Searock Lawn Care Hard Charger award for Sportsman was earned by Craig Whitmoyer going from 19th to 8th and Jeff Teets’ Salvage Transport Hard Charger award for Late Models went to Mike Kellner who started 16th and charged to 4th.
Cargo Trailer Sales of Lansdale had $50 gift certificates for 10th place finishers in each feature while Dan’s Deli has their special hoagies for the leader of each feature at the halfway point. VP Racing Fuels has a $150 product bonus for the first NASCAR 358 Modified feature finisher using their fuel, $100 product bonus for the first Late Model feature finisher using their fuel and $75 product bonus for the first Sportsman feature finisher using their fuel and carrying VP decals on the race car and VP patch on uniform.

Racing action on Saturday, June 1st at 7:30 p.m. will feature a tripleheader show of NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars sponsored by PBGW Accounting of Colmar. It will also be a Checkered Flag Fan Club promotion night. At least 14 events of racing will be included. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15.00 while young people 12 and under enter for FREE. As gates open three drivers representing three divisions of racing will be doing a meet and greet along with having their race cars on display.

PROFESSIONAL AUTO RACING RETURNS TO TRENTON FEBRUARY, 2014 WITH TWO-DAY INDOOR EVENT AT SUN NATIONAL BANK CENTER

TRENTON, NJ (March 28, 2013) - The roar of professional auto racing, which has not been heard in New Jersey’s State Capital in over thirty years, will be awakened anew in 2014.
Len Sammons Motorsports Productions has announced it will promote a two-day, indoor racing event at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton in 2014. The event will feature top drivers from at least ten different States and Canada competing in the Fatheadz TQ Midget Racing Series. A complete program including qualifying and feature events will be held for the TQ Midgets on Friday and Saturday night, February 7 and 8, 2014. A different support division will join the TQ Midgets each night making both programs unique. Trenton Speedway, on the grounds of the former New Jersey State Fairgrounds, hosted auto races on tracks of various configurations from the 1930s. A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Bobby and Al Unser, N.J. native Wally Dallenbach Sr., Richard Petty and David Pearson enjoyed some of their greatest career racing successes there.

The last race at Trenton Speedway was a NASCAR Modified Stock Car event won by Geoff Bodine, who took the checkered flag on June 19, 1980. Wrecking balls and bulldozers later razed the grounds. The Sun National Bank Center (www.SunNationalBankCenter.com) has been used for Indoor ice racing events in the past, competing on a track inside the hockey ice rink. The Indoor course for the Sun National Bank Center races will be held on the concrete floor around the hockey perimeter. "We are thrilled to be working with Len Sammons Motorsports on bringing this exciting new event into our venue,” said Claudio Oliveira the Assistant General Manager of the Sun National Bank Center. “We look forward to offering local racing fans the opportunity to enjoy heart pounding action right here in Trenton next February."
The first annual event in Trenton will take place two weeks after the 12th annual LSMP-promoted Gambler's Classic races are held inside Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. Those race dates are set for January 24-25, 2014. Both meets will be extensively promoted at Sammons’ 29th annual Motorsports Show, scheduled for the three-day weekend of January 10-11-12, 2014 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.

Indoor racing was reborn by Len H. Sammons and his staff in Atlantic City in 2003 after a twenty-two year hiatus, and has become a staple of the winter auto racing season. Five years ago, a second indoor event was created in Providence, R.I., which, like the Atlantic City race, became an instant success. The Providence races this year are tentatively scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 14-15, 2013.
Sammons also promoted an event in Baltimore, Md., for the first time in December of 2012.
The Trenton race will be a special one for Sammons who has been a life-long resident of the area. His father, Leonard J. Sammons Jr., started the Area Auto Racing News in nearby Hamilton, NJ in 1963 and the office remains just miles from where the races will be held. The Sammons family also sold the novelties and programs at the Trenton Speedway for many years.

The Sun National Bank Center is a relatively new venue having opened in October of 1999. The building offers first class seating and food concessions for the fans as well as several Luxury Suites for larger groups or sponsors. “Each arena has its own qualities and assets," said Sammons, "I think this one will be perfect for exciting racing for many years.” The central location of the City of Trenton makes it an attractive venue for race fans. Each of New Jersey’s three weekly outdoor speedways, New Egypt, Bridgeport and Wall Stadium are within 45 minutes of Trenton. Pre-race Trenton favorites include 2013 Atlantic City ‘Gamblers’ Classic Indoor TQ Midget winner Anthony Sesely of Matawan, NJ. Sesely, the 2011 and 2012 Modified champion at Wall Stadium also won the overall 2012-2013 Fatheadz Indoor Race series point title. New Egypt Speedway's all-time Modified event winner, Billy "The Kid" Pauch is also a regular on the Indoor series and a former Atlantic City winner. NASCAR Modified series champion Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, the winningest driver in LSMP promoted events, was the Coffee Cup winner this year in Providence. Lou Cicconi, Jr. of Lester, PA, always a fan favorite, won on Friday night in Atlantic City this year. Canadian Mike Lichty won the event held this year in Baltimore, MD. Further details, including ticket on-sale date and support divisions, will be announced when available. Check aarn.com for details on all LSMP events. Sponsorship programs are available by calling 609-888-3618. Global Spectrum (global-spectrum.com) manages the Sun National Bank Center, as well as more than 100 other public assembly facilities around the world. Nearly 20-million people attended more than 11,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year. Based in Philadelphia, PA, Global Spectrum is part of Comcast-Spectacor, one of the world’s largest sports and entertainment companies. Comcast-Spectacor also owns the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, Ovations Food Services, a food and beverage services provider, New Era Tickets, a full-service ticketing and marketing product for public assembly facilities, Paciolan, the leading provider of venue establishment ticketing, fundraising and marketing technology solutions, Front Row Marketing Services, a commercial rights sales company, and Flyers Skate Zone, a series of community ice skating rinks.

RUDOLPH BLISTERS TQ AND MICRO FIELDS; MEISENHELDER AND GARY HIEBER ALSO FASTEST IN THURSDAY NAPA AUTO PARTS WEEKEND PRACTICE AT A.C. BOARDWALK HALL; RACING SET FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Thursday, January 31, 2013) – Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, N.Y., left little doubt as to his prowess when he outran both the Three Quarter Midget and the 600 Micro fields in practice laps Thursday night during practice sessions at Atlantic City‘s Boardwalk Hall. Rudolph won three of the four races in last year’s NAPA Auto Parts Indoor Race Weekend and Thursday’s results made him the odds on favorite for another sweep. Champ Kart racer Glen Meisenhelder of Feeding Hills, Mass., and Slingshot driver Gary Hieber, Jr. of Penndel, Pa., were the fastest drivers in their respective divisions Thursday as 172 cars took to the track in anticipation of two days of racing in the NAPA Auto Parts Weekend inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
In the TQ Midget sessions, Rudolph ran a lap of 8.434 in the fourth and final timed session of the night, quickest of the sixty eight TQ Midgets in the pit area. Jimmy Blewett, who had never driven a TQ Midget indoors before this evening, was second fastest with a 8.603 lap. He was trailed by Anthony Sesely (8.648), Ryan Preece (8.663) and Ryan Tidman (8.668) to round out the top five.
The 600cc Micro class saw Rudolph turn the track in the time of 9.270 seconds to outrun thirty other competitors. Pat Bealer (9.301), Lou Cicconi Jr. (9.484), Brandon Azzalina (9.485), and Steve Walters (9.526) were second through fifth.
Meisenhelder stopped the clocks with the time of 9.686 in the Champ Kart timed sessions. He was trailed by Chris Daley (9.721), Justin Bonsignore (9.722), Skyler Sheriff (9.793) and Tim Sullivan (9.799). Thirty-eight Champ Karts were part of the practice.
Hieber’s time of 10.394 was tops among 35 Slingshot teams on the track. Trailing in the top five were Rejean Plante (10.510), Ben Whitaker (10.537), Mike Butler (10.548) and Eddie Strada (10.579).
The optional practice allowed teams to shake down their mounts in anticipation of two days of racing action that begins tonight (Friday) and continues Saturday. Racing Friday, Feb. 1 features TQ Midgets and 600cc Micro Sprint classes running a complete program culminating in a main event. Starting time is 7:30 p.m. The main event is Saturday, Feb. 2 with the TQ Midgets racing for 40 laps in the Gamblers Classic, the most prestigious Indoor race of the season. The 600cc Micros compete in their second feature of the weekend, joined by Slingshots and Champ Karts for a four-division feature. Action starts at 7:00 p.m. A one hour Fan Fest, during which time ticket holders will be invited to trackside to meet and greet the drivers who will be competing in the Saturday night racing action, will be held. At the end of the Saturday night action, Len Sammons Motorsports Productions will crown its Fatheadz Eyewear Indoor Season champions in TQ Midget and Champ Kart classes. The Series incorporates earlier indoor events at Baltimore, Md., and Providence, R.I. with results of the Boardwalk Hall races. Good seats are available for the Friday and Saturday night indoor auto racing events at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office or through www.ticketmaster.com.
