Sicklerville, NJ (August 1, 2015) – On the inner oval at Bridgeport Speedway, Jimmy Horton outdueled Richie Pratt to win the fifth contest of the Modified 811 Dig Safely Series. With the victory, Horton claimed the championship in the five race series on the quarter mile track for open Modified stock cars.

As the 25-lap feature got underway, Dom Buffalino grabbed the lead with Richie Pratt, Jimmy Horton, Mike Iles and Johnny Cornell in tow. Pratt took the top running spot away from Buffalino with two tours completed. The top five of Pratt, Buffalino, Horton, Iles and Cornell remained in order until the sixth circuit as Horton slipped by Buffalino for second. Following a restart on lap 7, Pratt and Horton began a multi-lap duel for the lead with Iles and Buffalino battling for third. For several laps, the outside lane running Horton would gain the lead coming out of turn two with Pratt regaining the lead upon exiting the fourth corner. Following a caution period on the twelfth tour, Horton grabbed the top spot from Pratt with Iles, Buffalino, and Cornell racing hard for third place. After a few more restarts for minor cautions, Horton was still in command on the nineteenth circuit but Pratt edged to the front as flagger Gary Buzby gave the five to go signal to the racers. BILL THOMAS WINS THOMAS MEMORIAL AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Bridgeport, NJ (October 27, 2013) – In a race honoring his late father, Bill Thomas won the IPM Pest Management 600cc Micro-Sprint feature at Bridgeport Speedway’s Bill Thomas Memorial. The 270cc Micro-Sprint main event was taken by Chris Locuson. Warren Stradley topped the field in the 4-Cylinder Enduro car contest. The Slingshot feature went to Cody Kline. Tom Wolfe collected the victory in the 8-Cylinder Enduro race.

In the 30-lap IPM Pest Management 600cc feature, Bill Thomas took the lead at the start of the event with Shane Lewis in second. By the fifth circuit, Thomas had a comfortable advantage as he was just beginning to encounter lap traffic. Back to back cautions on lap 7 eliminated the congestion for Thomas. When green flag racing resumed, Thomas was still on top with Lewis trying to gain ground with eight tours completed. At the halfway point, Thomas was back in traffic with Lewis in second and Jay Hartman in third. By lap 20, the caution flag waved again due to a spin by Dan Cogdill, Jr. After action got back underway, Thomas kept his lead and began to distance himself again from the pack. On lap 26, two caution periods occurred and reset the field behind the leader. Following the final green flag, Thomas went unchallenged in the remaining laps to collect the $1000 first place prize. Lewis held on for second with Hartman coming home in third. Tim Buckwalter used the outside groove to finish in fourth and Stephen Kemery completed the race in fifth. The heat races for the IPM Pest Management 600cc Micro-Sprints were won by Bill Thomas, Jay Hartman, and Shane Lewis. Brett Estep took the checkered flag in the consolation event.

Chris Locuson inherited the top running position at the midway point of the 30-lap main for the 270cc Micro-Sprints and he eventually gained the victory. Jay Hartman jumped out to the front at the start of the race. As the halfway signal was given, a mechanical failure forced Hartman to the pits and Locuson became the new leader. Once in front, Locuson powered through lap traffic in the second half of the contest to capture the $1000 check. The runner-up spot went to Tyler Reinhardt. Brian Morrill, Luke Fogg, and RJ Magyari rounded out the top five. Brian Morrill, Jay Hartman, and Charlie Lamanna were the victors in the 270cc Micro-Sprint qualifying races.

After taking the top spot on the ninth circuit, Warren Stradley led the rest of the way to gain the win in the 20-lap feature for the 4-Cylinder Enduro Cars. Scott Dunn finished in second. Third place went to Justin Dunn and he was followed across the finish line by John Gray and Mike Dunn. The 4-Cylinder heat races went to Robbie Dunn and Justin Dunn.

Cody Kline held off Carl Bittenbender in the final circuits to claim the checkered flag in the 25-lap Slingshot feature. With Bittenbender taking second, Donny Hockman crossed the finish line in third. Joe Bodenschatz and Simon Egan filled out the top five. Slingshot heat races were taken by Carl Bittenbender and Larry Raifsnider.

In the non-stop 50-lap race for the 8-Cylinder Enduro Cars, Tom Wolf won the contest after taking the lead on the thirteenth circuit. Lee Allen, Christopher Allen, Sr., Animal, and Rob McCormick followed Wolf.

Dennis Drain was the victor in the Vintage Stock Car race.

The Jason Leffler Tribute race will showcase the 410 Sprints Cars and the TSRS Sprint Cars. The victor of the 25-lap main event for the 410 Sprint Cars will leave Southern New Jersey with $7,000. The take the green money has been set at $500 and non- qualifiers will receive $100. In addition, a $1,100 bonus for the top finishing 360 Sprint Car has been established for the program.

The same format employed on June 12 will be used on September 8. During registration, each 410 Sprint Car driver will draw a pill to determine his or her heat race group. Each grouping will go out for time trials and an inversion of the top four (4) will set the starting lineup of each respective heat race. Drivers not in the top four (4) of their groups will be lined up in the qualifying events by time. The first two (2) finishers in each heat race are eligible for the feature redraw and the fastest qualifier in each grouping will be added as well providing the driver finishes the heat race in a qualifying position. All other heat race qualifiers will be assigned a starting position in the main event by time.

On Sunday, September 8, the gates to the pit area open at 3:30 p.m. with the spectator turnstiles unlocking at 4:30 p.m. Wrist band holders from the June 12 show can enter the grandstand area at 3:30 p.m. Hot laps will start at 5:30 p.m. with action getting underway at 6:00 p.m. A monetary donation to benefit Charlie Dean, Jason’s son, will be necessary for grandstand admission. Pit wristbands from the June 12 program will be accepted. Otherwise, pit admission will be $35. If Port Royal should need this date as a raindate for their 46th annual Tuscarora 50, Bridgeport Speedway will postpone the Jason Leffler Tribute race and it will be held on Monday, September 9 at 6:00 p.m.
