PAUCH TAKES BIG BLOCK MODIFIED POKER SERIES FINALE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Swedesboro, NJ (November 11, 2012) - On day two of Wild Card Weekend at Bridgeport Speedway, Billy Pauch, Sr. took the checkered flag in the Big Block Modified Poker Series finale. Craig Whitmoyer topped the competition in the Open Sportsmen contest. The TSRS Sprint Car feature was won by Kyle Reinhardt.
After the original start of the 40-lap Big Block Modified feature was marred by a caution, Matt Harrell grabbed the lead with Billy Pauch, Sr. and Tad Cox in the hunt. After a side-by-side tussle for the top spot, Pauch, Sr. ascended to the front with three circuits recorded with Harrell in second and Ryan Godown driving into third. A slowing Dave Hunt brought out the second caution of the event on lap 6. When action got back underway, Pauch, Sr. remained in control with Godown slipping by Harrell for third. Green flag racing was stopped on the next tour for a multi-car tangle. On the ensuing restart, the top two remained in order with Richie Pratt, Jr. scooting by Harrell for third with nine revolutions completed. By lap 15, Pauch, Sr. had a half-straightaway lead as he was approaching the back end of the field. Three circuits later, the leader’s advantage had diminished in the midst of passing slower competitors. By lap 22, the top three were in tight quarters and Godown was on the outside lane trying to get past Pauch, Sr. On the twenty-fourth tour, Godown was on the top side again and Pratt, Jr. dipped beneath him in an attempt to gain the runner-up spot. Just as the battle for the lead was heating up again in heavy lap traffic, the yellow flag flew for Mike Barone on lap 26. The top three remained in order as the green lights illuminated the dirt oval. Following one caution period on lap 28 and several on lap 31, Pauch repelled the advances of Godown and Pratt, Jr. With the final nine circuits going green, Pauch, Sr. was able to hold onto his margin and collect the $5000 first place reward. Godown crossed the finish line in second with Pratt, Jr. coming home in third. Fourth place was taken by Duane Howard. JR Heffner, who was making his first appearance at Bridgeport Speedway, finished in fifth. Wade Hendrickson, JR Heffner, Richie Pratt, Jr. and Ryan Godown won the heat races for the Big Block Modifieds. The consolation races were taken by Sean Gunther and Craig Von Dohren.
Craig Whitmoyer (WoS photo)
Craig Whitmoyer took advantage of his front row starting position and paced the field for the entire distance to win the 30-lap race for the Open Sportsmen. Mike Cogdill drove a strong race to finish in the runner-up position. Jared Umbenhauer, who started the contest from eleventh place, staged a late race charge from the outside to come home in third. Steve Davis and Ryan Anderson completed the top five. Steve Davis, Craig Whitmoyer, and Gene Stravinsky were victors in the Open Sportsmen qualifying events. Joe Masiado took the checkered flag in the consolation race.
Kyle Reinhardt (WoS photo)
In the 20-lap TSRS Sprint Car main event, Kyle Reinhardt led wire-to-wire for the victory. Gary Palmer, the promoter at Accord Speedway, finished in second place. Dave Brown, Eddie Wagner, and Mike Haggenbottom rounded out the top five. The TSRS Sprint Car heat races were won by Kyle Reinhardt and Dave Brown.

Interest Reaching Fever Pitch As Wild Card Weekend Approaches At Bridgeport Speedway; Rules Set, Two Days Of Racing Planned Nov. 9-10
BRIDGEPORT, NJ -Interest is running at a fever pitch for the 'Wild Card Weekend' at Bridgeport Speedway.
This Friday and Saturday (Nov. 9-10) the five-eighths-mile clay oval in Logan Township, N.J., lights up with a full-slate of racing activities as first-year promoters Doug and Gena Hoffman close the curtain on their inaugural Bridgeport season. Drivers and fans from across the Northeast have declared their intentions of visiting the South Jersey facility for the region's final dirt-track event of 2012.
Among the weekend highlights, of course, will be the crowning of 'Poker Series' champions in the Crate Sportsman and Modified divisions. Also seeing action during the weekend are 358-Modifieds, Open Sportsman, Outlaw Stocks (in two events), TSRS 305 Sprint Cars and the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club.
Some of the invading drivers who have publicized their plans of visiting Bridgeport include Duane Howard, Doug Manmiller, New Yorkers J.R. Heffner and Bobby Varin (slated to drive the Tom Umbenhauer No. 19 small-block), Billy Pauch Sr., Ryan Godown, Mike Gular, Wade Hendrickson and a host of others to challenge the Bridgeport regulars led by track champion Rick Laubach, Jimmy Horton, Ryan Watt, Richie Pratt Jr., Michael Barone, Eric Kormann and more.
Friday night's (Nov. 9) program is headlined by a 30-lap Small-Block Modified Championship paying $3,000 to the winner, $500 for 10th place and $225 to take the green flag. The only 'small-block exclusive' event to be contested at Bridgeport this season has piqued the interest of competitors in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. A diverse field is expected to congregate for the event.
The following weight/engine rules have been established for the event: Pennsylvania-legal spec head (2,350 lbs.); DIRTcar-legal spec head (2,350 lbs.); Open 339 cubic inches (2,400 lbs.); Open 363 cubic inches or ported spec head (2,450 lbs.); NASCAR-style 363 cubic inches or less (2,500 lbs.). The tire rule is American Racer right-rear 48 or harder; left-rear 44 or harder; 33 or harder across the front. Sail panels are not permitted. All cars must utilize conventional windows.
Also on Friday, Crate (602) Sportsman complete their five-race 'Poker Series' of events with a 30-lap event paying $1,000 to the winner and $75 to take the green flag. New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway and Delaware International engine seals are accepted for this event. The tire rule is American Racer right-rear 48 or harder; left-rear 44 or harder; 33 or harder across the front. Sail panels are not permitted. All cars must utilize conventional windows.
Outlaw Stocks take part in a pair of Friday events: a rain-postponed event from Sept. 22 that will crown the track champion and a second 20-lap feature with a long list of lap money and bonuses coordinated by Joe LaClaire of Black Flagged Racing.
Competitors looking to secure practice laps in advance of Saturday's events will be permitted to do so on Friday night.
For Friday night, gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing promptly at 7:30 p.m.
Friday pricing is $25 for Adults, $23 for Students (with ID) and Seniors (65 and over) and $35 for the pit area. A two-day Adult Grandstand Pass is available for $45 and $40 for Seniors and Students. A two-day pit pass is $60.
On Saturday (Nov. 10), attention turns to the 40-lap finale of the five-race 'Poker Series' for big-block/small-block Modifieds. The fifth and final hand of the series offers a $5,000 top prize should the winning driver post a $20 "gambler's fee" prior to the start of qualifying ($4,000 without). A full Race of Champions purse is set for the remainder of the field: $1,000 for fifth, $500 for 10th and $300 to take the green flag.
Saturday Modified weight rules are as follows for the event: Pennsylvania-legal spec head or DIRTcar spec head engines: 2,350 lbs.; all other small-blocks under 363 cubic inches: 2,400 lbs.; all engines above 363 cubic inches: 2,500 lbs. The tire rule is American Racer right-rear 48 or harder; left-rear 44 or harder; 33 or harder across the front. The tire rule is American Racer right-rear 48 or harder; left-rear 44 or harder; 33 or harder across the front. Sail panels are not permitted. All cars must utilize conventional windows.
The overall Modified 'Poker Series' payout is lucrative. At each Modified 'Poker Series' event, the winner receives an Ace (A), second a King (K), third a Queen (Q) and so on down to the 13th-place finisher receiving a Deuce (2). Following the completion of the five-race series, the driver with the best poker hand earns $2,500, second $1,500 and third $1,000. The driver with the worst five-card hand receives $1,000. Drivers must participate in all five events to be eligible for a point fund.
For the fans, the Modified feature field will be staged behind the grandstand on Saturday night: a popular attraction during the season.
Bridgeport will welcome the region's 'Open Sportsman' division for a 30-lap main with $1,500 at stake for the race winner and $100 to take the green flag. Crate Sportsman competitors are invited to take part in the Saturday event under regular Bridgeport rules (see below). Sail panels are not permitted on the Sportsman. The tire rule is American Racer right-rear 48 or harder; left-rear 44 or harder; 33 or harder across the front.
Open Sportsman weight rules are as follows: open engine with two-barrel carburetor with aluminum wheels (2,500 lbs.); open engine with two-barrel carburetor with steel wheels (2,450 lbs.); and Crate Sportsman under Bridgeport rules, with rev chip (2,350 lbs.).
The popular TSRS 305 Sprint Cars (20 laps) and Garden State Vintage Stock Cars will join the show. Lap sponsorships for the TSRS 305 Sprint Cars are on sale at $10 per lap by contacting mike@bpspeedway.com.
Gates open Saturday at noon. Hot laps are planned for 2:30 p.m. with racing to follow at 3 p.m.
Saturday pricing is as follows: $25 for Adults, $23 for Students (with ID) and Seniors (65 and over) and $35 for the pit area.
Weekend camping is encouraged on the speedway grounds. Post-race parties and bonfires are in the works on Friday and Saturday.

LAUBACH LANDS 2012 BIG BLOCK MODIFIED TITLE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Swedesboro, NJ (September 30, 2012) – On Championship Night at Bridgeport Speedway, Stan Frankenfield, Jr. and Rick Laubach picked up Big Block Modified feature wins. With his seventh victory of the season, Laubach landed the 2012 Big Block Modified championship. The Crate Sportsmen main events were taken by CJ Jones and Ricky DiEva as Ryan Anderson won the point title. Bill Liedtka took the checkered flag in the Outlaw Stock Car feature.
In the postponed 30-lap Big Block Modified feature from September 22, Stan Frankenfield, Jr. led from start to finish as he won the non-stop event. Starting on the pole, Frankenfield blasted to the front with Sean Gunther and Ron Roberts in tow. Roberts moved into second place with three circuits completed and was beginning to feel pressure from Ryan Watt and Richie Pratt, Jr. With Frankenfield pulling away from the pack, a three car battle for second place was won by Pratt on lap 7. With a third of the event completed, Frankenfield had built a full straightaway lead over Pratt. By lap 15, Frankenfield’s advantage was cut in half as he began to encounter lap traffic. On the nineteenth circuit, Frankenfield was stuck behind a slower competitor and Pratt pulled alongside the leader. After clearing the slower running car on lap 21, Frankenfield began to edge away from Pratt and Eric Kormann, who had just taken over third place from Watt. With five tours to go, the top two were engaged in another batch of lap traffic and Pratt began to inch closer to Frankenfield. Throughout the final laps, Frankenfield drove smoothly through the slower running competitors to gain his first career Big Block Modified feature win at Bridgeport Speedway. Pratt came home in second with Kormann taking third. Watt and Mike Barone completed the top five. The heat races, which were completed on September 22, were won by Mike Barone, Stan Frankenfield, Jr. and Ryan Watt. The two consolation races that were contested on September 29 were taken by Duane Howard and Bob Sarkisian.
In the regularly scheduled 30-lap Big Block Modified feature, Rick Laubach grabbed the lead with five laps remaining to claim his seventh checkered flag of the year. Stan Frankenfield grabbed the early lead with Sean Gunther and Ron Roberts in pursuit. By lap 5, Frankenfield was still on top with Mike Barone charging into the runner-up spot. Barone’s strong run ended two circuits later with a mechanical issue and Wade Hendrickson took over second place when Gunther exited the race as well. By lap 9, Frankenfield was still setting the pace with Hendrickson and Richie Pratt, Jr. in close quarters. Pratt took over second place on the eleventh circuit with fourth place running Rick Laubach nearing Hendrickson for third. Laubach gained third place on lap 14 as Frankenfield had a full straightaway margin over Pratt. Laubach had just moved into second place when the third caution of the event was shone on the nineteenth tour of the outer oval. On the restart, Frankenfield remained on top with Pratt regaining second place from Laubach. On lap 21, Pratt sprinted by Frankenfield for the lead. Two circuits later, Laubach and Duane Howard moved past Frankenfield to take over second and third respectively. Quickly, Laubach reeled in Pratt and grabbed the lead with five laps remaining. As Pratt and Howard were battling for second, Laubach pulled away in the final moments and led the pack across the finish line for the win. Pratt held off Howard for second place. Ryan Watt and Eric Kormann rounded out the top five. Mike Barone, Richie Pratt, Jr. and Sean Gunther won the Big Block Modified heat races. The consolation contest went to Brett Ballard. With the victory, Laubach earned his first Big Block Modified championship at Bridgeport Speedway.
In the 20-lap Crate Sportsmen feature from September 22, CJ Jones led every step of the way to pick up his second win of the season. Jones preserved his victory by holding off Brad Roberts and Mike Cogdill on a restart with two circuits to go. With Roberts finishing second and Cogdill taking third, Tommy Beamer wound up in fourth and Ricky DiEva came home in fifth. Ricky DiEva won the heat race completed on September 22 while Mike Cogdill won the second qualifying event contested on September 29. Ryan Simmons was the victor in the consolation race.
Ricky DiEva took the lead with three tours left to win the regularly scheduled 20-lap Crate Sportsmen main event. Brett Kelly led the opening three tours before Brad Roberts took over. After moving into second place on the sixth circuit, DiEva began to chase down Roberts and he grabbed the lead on lap 17 while running in lap traffic. The runner-up spot was taken by Travis Hill. Mike Cogdill, Frank Dorry and Ryan Anderson filled out the top five. The Crate Sportsmen qualifying events were taken by CJ Jones and Brad Roberts. Kyle Hieber took the checkered flag in the consolation contest. Ryan Anderson won the 2012 championship in the Crate Sportsmen class.
After starting in last place, Bill Liedtka passed Jeff Dirkes as the white flag waved and went on to win the 15-lap Outlaw Stock Car race. Brian Ludwig finished in second place with Rick Broschard taking third. Dirkes came home in fourth and fifth went to Spider Ensinger, Jr. The Outlaw Stock Car heat winners were Jeff Dirkes and Ed Tinsman, Jr.

Swedesboro, NJ (September 29, 2012) – On Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile dirt oval, Tim Iulg won the 600cc Micro-Sprint feature while Bill Thomas took the 2012 championship in the division. Justin Stillwagon’s victory in the 270cc Micro-Sprint main event propelled him to the season title in the class. Nate Albright bested the field in the 4-Cylinder Enduro Car feature as Mike Dunn was honored as the champion.
After starting the event from the pole position, Tim Iulg led every step of the way to win the 20-lap feature for the 600cc Micro-Sprints. After the drop of the green flag, Iulg pedaled to the front with Joe Kay and Tim Buckwalter in pursuit. Throughout the race, the top two of Iulg and Kay were running in close proximity. By the fifteenth circuit, Buckwalter joined the front running tandem and began to apply pressure on Kay for second. In the final laps, Iulg was able to hold on to claim his first win of the year and fifteenth career victory at Bridgeport Speedway. Kay and Buckwalter had an excellent battle for second in the waning moments with Kay earning the spot. With Buckwalter coming home in third, Sam Locuson finished in fourth and Tyler DeVault wound up in fifth. Bill Thomas took the 2012 championship in the 600cc Micro-Sprint class. The 600cc Micro-Sprint heats were won by Andrew Locuson, Tyler DeVault, and Tim Buckwalter.
After taking the lead on the second tour, Justin Stillwagon held off a late race charge from Charlie Lamanna to win the 20-lap 270cc Micro-Sprint feature and the 2012 season title. Brian Morrill led the opening circuit before Stillwagon gained control. At the halfway point of the contest, Stillwagon had a comfortable half-straightaway lead over Lamanna. By lap 15 and with the top two driving through lap traffic, Stillwagon’s lead was cut in half. As the checkered flag waved, Stillwagon was two car lengths ahead of Lamanna to earn the win and the championship. Richie Keller, Morrill, and Andrew Locuson completed the top five. Justin Stillwagon and Tyler Reinhardt were victorious in the 270cc Micro-Sprint qualifying races.
In the 20-lap 4-Cylinder Enduro Car race, Nate Albright held off Warren Stradley in the second half of the event to earn his first career victory. John Gray came home in third. With his fourth place finish, Mike Dunn earned the 2012 championship in the division. Fifth place went to Art Knapp.
