Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY- A One Night Flight Finds Andy Bachetti Sizzling Hot In Convincing Win In Exciting Accord Speedway Modified Action
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
On a hazy but warm summer day in the Catskill Mountains of New York State that threatened to rain but didn't, the Accord Speedway swung back into race mode on Friday evening. With temperatures in the low 80's and a warm gentle breeze blowing across the speedway grounds, Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer reeled off an outstanding racing card for the large crowd on hand that witnessed the excellent racing action. The superb evening of speed was sponsored by the good folks at Emmanuel's Marketplace (www.emmanuelsmarketplace.com) and was highlighted by the running of the Ernie Beesmer Memorial event for the Modified division. Even though the racing was held up and began later due to a faulty ambulance, all of the events were completed by 11PM.
The final outcome of the great evening of racing action found "The Wild Child" Andy Bachetti returning to the Accord Speedway in a one night flight from his regular track to steer his Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming sponsored hot rod to his first Accord Speedway win in quite some time. He chose the right time to return as he garnered in a whopping $2,888.00 for his win in the Ernie Beesmer Memorial in the United Pump & Tank Modified headliner. Brandon "Juan Pablo" McGill nailed down his second win of the season in the Arkel Motors Sportsman finale. "The Highside Hustler" Eric Jennings was spot on as he recorded his fifth win of the season in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature event. Veteran campaigner Emerson Cargain Jr added his second win of the season as he raced to victory in the hotly contested Upstate Auto Pure Stock ranks. Ryan McCartney captured his second win of the season in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman main event as he dominated the action in a wire to wire run. "The old Spring Kid" Jake Mason continues to excel at Accord as he wired the field for his seventh win at the speedway in the Want Ad Digest Junior Slingshot finale.
"The Concrete Kid" Kyle VanDuser used a front row start to kick off the United Pump and Tank Modified event and VanDuser would lead first nine laps of the 30-lap main event. "Primetime" Scott Ferrier stayed close as he quickly drove into the runner-up slot from his seventh starting position to tail VanDuser. Ferrier drove by VanDuser on lap ten and brought with him a high flying Anthony Perrego. Perrego challenged Ferrier but coming into the fight would be Andy Bachetti as he moved into third from his twelfth starting position. Bachetti was on a mission and could place his car in any channel of the speedway and be fast. He moved to the topside of the speedway on lap fourteen and passed both VanDuser and Perrego to assume command of the lead.
A restart closed the field on lap-19 but on the restart Bachetti opened up a huge lead on the field. As Bachetti got into slower traffic, Perrego was able to close the gap and make it close but Bachetti flashed under the checkered flag at the end of the thirty lap event a much richer man. Perrego was the runner-up in a solid drive from 11th starting place, Jerry Higbie came on strong at the end to finish third with Scott Ferrier and Danny Creeden completing the top five. The second five in order were Rich Ricci Jr, current point leader Danny Tyler, Mike Ricci, Richard Smith and Kyle VanDuser.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman event proved to be a great race as Chris VanDuser found the fast line at the top of the raceway and powered into the lead. Rich Ricci III followed VanDuser and the two broke away from the field early on. Some skirmishes would slow the action down on a few occasions but Brandon McGill on each restart would begin to make subtle moves on the leaders. McGill went to work on Ricci and slipped past him and then went to work on VanDuser. McGill took over the lead on lap-13 and while leading had to fight off the advances of Ricci and Kyle Rohner. The three way battle was exciting down to the last turn but McGill would not be denied on this night as he nabbed his second win of the season at Accord Speedway. Ricci III was second with a great performance while Rohner settled for third. Tony Kowlachuk and Tyler Johnston completed the top five. third. Following the top five were Corey Cormier, Dana Carey, Chris VanDuser, Shane Henion and Matt Shultz.
The WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature attraction found Ryan McCartney with the hot hand as he powered into the lead at the drop of the green flag and he would open up some distance on the field with Michael Corbin in pursuit. Hunter Lapp would find his way to the front and moved past Corbin into second. McCartney would prove to be fast as he drove away from the field to secure his second win of the season. Lapp enjoyed a great run for second with Corbin third, Vinny Visconti fourth and Alex VanPelt fifth. The entire top five came through the ranks of Slingshot racing lending credence to the importance of starting out the drivers in a class where they can learn the ins and outs of racing and then be able to make a successful transition to the full-size cars. Kevin Stevens, Jeff Higham, John Miller, John Brown, John DeWitt and Keith Johannessen would complete the rest of the field.
Austin Smith grabbed the early lead in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock main event and would lead through the first three laps. Emerson Cargain Jr found the open channels of the speedway down low and powered into the lead. It proved to be the winning pass but behind Cargain four additional drivers were driving hard to find the winning move of their own. Travis Brockner pulled out all of the stops and pulled even on occasion but could not muster up a few more horsepower to unseat Cargain from the lead and he settled for second. Steve Williams was third with John Hechinger continuing to do great work with a fourth place finish while Chris Kanuk finished fifth. Austin Smith, Harry Bachman, Craig Cuneo and Ray Tarantino completed the field.
Bobby Tersillo grabbed the lead at the start of the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature event. Tersillo was enjoying his best run of the season but jumped the cushion allowing Eric Jennings to make the winning move under him to take command of the lead. The move made the rest of the event purely academic as Jennings raced away from the field to gather in his fifth win of the season. Larry Ricci was a strong runner-up with Tersillo third, Larry McVay fourth, Andrew Davis Corey Wood, And newcomer Duane Nixon completing the field.
Jake Mason started from the inside pole position and quickly raced in to the lead at the start of the event. Mason opened up a big lead in the race and coasted to his seventh Accord Speedway win. Jaden Sleight was second with Ashton DeWitt third, Brock Pinkerous fourth and newcomer Kao DeWitt fifth.
GEMSTONES:
The good friends from Emmanuel's Marketplace were the headline sponsor for the evening.
Heat races were run off quickly and Sportsman heat wins went to Brandon McGill and Tyler Johnston. Ryan McCartney and John Miller captured the Rookie Sportsman heat events. Modified heats were claimed by Andy Bachetti, Ken Ferrier and Brian Malcolm while the B-Main for the Modifieds was claimed by Jimmy Wells. Bobby Tersillo won the Sprint heat. Steve Williams was victorious in the Pure Stock heat. Jake Mason captured the Junior Slingshot heat. .
New entries were arrived at the speedway as Tom Vasta and Anthony Recchio returned to action but both drivers stepping up to the Sportsman ranks. Duane Nixon was on hand with his Northeast Wingless Sprint Car in his debut and ran strong in his first Accord start. Kai DeWitt made his initial start in the Junior Slingshots with a K number reminiscent of a Karl Pittenger Modified.
Promoter Gary Palmer had the speedway in great racing form as the speedway again offered up to four and sometimes five distinct racing channels to the drivers to create some excellent side by side battles throughout the evening and for the most part all divisions produced some excellent racing for the fans.
A nice group of friends of Ernie Beesmer were on hand talking about Ernie and his exploits on the raceway. The photographs and trophies take one back to a more carefree time in life when things just seemed to go a lot easier than they do nowadays. Thank you to all of Ernie Beesmer's friends for a great evening at Accord.
The Gary Phillips Crew drove up from New Jersey to cheer for Kyle Rohner. Rohner steered the Phillips 600 Sprint at Hamlin a couple of seasons ago and Rohner has a lock on the one lap track record at Hamlin for the division. The car was sold by Phillips to graphic design man Adam Huff who now has placed Billy Pauch Jr in the machine at Kutztown
Best wishes go out to all of the Accord Speedway Junior Slingshot and All Star Slingshot drivers who will be taking part in the Slingshot Speedweeks racing at the various speedways on the tour schedule. The racing began this evening at Linda's Speedway and next Saturday's racing will be at the Hamlin Speedway with the final leg being hosted at Kutztown.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Hamlin Speedway Rocks On With Tremendous Racing Action Saturday Night
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith hosted another excellent night of exciting racing action at their 1/5th Mile clay cushioned speedway on Saturday night. Randy Smith and crew had the Hamlin Speedway in tip-top racing condition as the stars and cars of the Pocono area speedway displayed their own brand of magic in the form of side by side racing and slide-jobs to provide the large crowd on hand another great opportunity to enjoy an exciting evening at the races. All told 112 racers were on hand which included the second edition of the NASCAR Crew Challenge. The eight feature event racing card was wrapped up at 10:39 PM. The evening of speed was sponsored by S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
Heading up the list of winners on Saturday evening included "The Travelin Man" Mick D'Agostino as the Massachusetts based speedster steered his racer to his first win of the season in a hard fought battle that brought his second car into the runner-up slot at the end with Brandon Azzalina aboard in the Wingless 600 Sprint competition. Additional winners included Tony Parlanti as he captured his first ever win at Hamlin in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprints with a close victory over Paul Richards Jr. Mike Taylor was quick from the drop of the green flag as he wired the field in the Super Slinger feature run. Josh Marcus finally found the sweet spot at Hamlin as he raced to his first ever win in All Star Slingshot feature event. event while making it wins for the season. Tyler Banks found the magic to record his second win of the season in the Junior Slingshot finale. In a hotly contested feature event, Alex Reinsmith made the winning pass on the white flag lap to capture his second win of the season in the Wingless 270 Sprint headliner. "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith took no prisoners as he raced to his fifth Hamlin Speedway victory in the exciting Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified main event. "KW Speed" Kevin White was all smiles as he defeated a very competitive twelve car field of drivers in the second edition of the NASCAR Crew Challenge event.
The evening of feature attractions found Mike Taylor out-dueling Wes Hearn at the start of the Super Slinger finale. The racing remained close with Hearn giving it all he had in an attempt to wrest the lead away from Taylor, but Taylor was on a mission and led all lap to claim his third win of the season. Wes Hearn was the runner-up with Dale Kober third, Jason Edison fourth, and the returning Greg Zellman notching a top five finish. The returning Jim Conroy, Dustin Keath and Jeff Haduck completed the field.
The Junior Slingshot twenty lap headliner found the front row starters misbehaving and they found themselves turned around and at the back of the field before one lap was completed. The action placed Tyler Banks at the point for the restart and the Empire State racer never waivered as he led all laps enroot to his second win of the season. It was no cakewalk for Banks as Shelby McLaughlin, John Kendall and Jake Mason finished so close you could throw a blanket over them. JJ Rice recovered from his poor start and came back through the field to claim fifth place. The second five were headed up by Adam Buchel, who was flying the sponsorship colors of the Florida Keys Air Conditioning Services on this night of racing. Mikey Johannes, Tommy Stillo, Joey Kalafut and Abby Yates completed the top ten.
The 20-lap headliner for the All Star Slingshot racers proved to be a barn burner right from the initial green flag. Tess Horvath seized the lead at the start of the event and early on built up a nice lead. Alan Kober, Josh Marcus and Mike Taylor put the pressure on as a few restarts slowed the pace. A restart found Josh Marcus disposing of Alan Kober for the runner-up slot with Cody Kline making a run from eighth starting place to land in the top five. Horvath led until lap thirteen when Marcus found the sweet spot to slip past Horvath for the lead. Marcus was consistent with 14 second laps and was able to handle the field for the remainder of the laps to go on and claim his first ever win at the speedway. Horvath did an outstanding job in the runner-up capacity with Kline racing to third place, Tyler Peet fourth and Mike Taylor completing the top five. The second five included Jared Silfee, Russell Benke, Taylor Mills, Dale Kober and Samantha Muller. Twenty three of the starting 25 drivers all finished on the lead lap all in close quarters.
Carmen Leggio Sr jumped into the lead at the start of the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint event but before a lap could be completed a mad scramble sent Macy Litchauer upside down in a three car jingle. She was unhurt in the incident. On the restart Leggio took off and began putting the laps in the book with a strong run with pressure coming from Tony Parlanti and Paul Richards Jr. Leggio would lead the first sixteen laps and as the leaders came upon slower cars Leggio went high and Parlanti low and Parlanti grabbed the lead momentarily only to have Leggio drive back by him. The pair dueled side by side for a lap until Parlanti got the edge and raced to his first win at Hamlin. Paul Richards Jr was the runner-up in a very good run with Joe Nemeth recovering from a first lap jingle to secure third place with Zack Weisenfluh fourth and Ryan Lacoe fifth. The second five found Joey Amantea, Tyler Lindsey, Savannah Leggio, Cody Powell and Jake Roberts completing the top ten.
Cody Smith led the first eleven laps of laps the exciting Wingless 600 Sprint main. Eighth starting Mick D'Agostino hustled hard and early through the field and would follow Smith for a few laps. On lap twelve D'Agostino found the room he was looking for as he went to the top in turn one and crossed over to the bottom in turn two to pull even with Smith and then drive by him down the backstretch. Once in front D'Agostino pulled away from the field but the battle behind him was ferocious as changes took place with each passing lap. Brandon Azzalina in the second D'Agostino racer would land in the runner-up role with the defending track champion Chad Sandt in third, Cody Smith fourth and Ryan Neil coming from nineteenth to finish fifth. The second five found Geordan Marrero, Damon Paul, Jake Roberts, Mack Brink and JD Casazza following.
Glenn Macomber grabbed the lead out of the starting blocks and led the first three laps. Paul Richards Sr would take over the lead only to spin out the next time around. Macomber then inherited the lead and would lead with tremendous pressure coming in the form of Alex Reinsmith. The pair battled it out all of the way with Reinsmith finally moving in front on the white flag lap and racing to his second win of the season while Glenn Macomber was second, Paul Richards Sr third and Kyle Ferrucci fourth.
Joel Smith controlled the Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified encounter from the drop of the green flag. Smith would lead all twenty laps to capture his fifth win of the season. Behind Smith, Anthony Recchio would move into the runner-up slot and would stay there for the remainder of the race with Cole Stangle third, Cody Motto fourth and the now un-retired Will Casazza returning to action and finishing fifth. The second five found Michael Samony, Joel Price, John Bachetti, Evan Civick and newcomer Kenny Hildebrandt completing the top ten
The NASCAR Crew Challenge is always exciting to watch and this was no exception as Brett McCutchen jumped into the lead on the first lap of the event and in just a few laps built up a huge lead on the field. As the race settled in, McCutchen would find his lead shrinking as the laps clicked off. NASCAR Crew Challenge big winner in the past, Kevin White came calling and quickly got nose to tail with McCutchen. White would grab the lead on lap twelve and Garrett Peterson, Kyle Shano and Jason Edison would become contenders. White was in the zone and would capture the win with Peterson, Shano, Edison and Dustin Keath completing the top five. The second five included McCutchen, Billy Plourd, James Edwards, David Cropps and Chris Britt. Every driver completed the twenty lap event.
PEARL JAMS:
Randy Smith kept pace with the speedway all night long as the track remained super fast all evening long and water was added at intervals to keep the speedway moist and tacky.
Short track racing is close competition at its finest and the drivers were negotiating the tight quarters of the Hamlin Speedway in two and three wide fashion for most of the evening and later the NASCAR guys did much of the same with "just a little bit of extra rubbing" in between.
A series of time trials were held for two of the racing divisions and quick time for the All Star Slingshots was Josh Marcus at 14.126 seconds as he defeated Cody Kline who turned a time at 14.382. Mike Taylor was quick man for the Super Slingshots with a time of 14.470 seconds over Wes Hearn at 14.481 seconds.
Heat racing action in the Stage One Modifieds found Joel Smith and Cody Motto claiming victories. Rookie 600 Sprint heat wins went to Carmen Leggio Sr and Tony Parlanti. Kyle Swart and Adam Buchel claimed the heat race wins for the Junior Slingshots. Glenn Macomber captured the Wingless 270 Sprint heat. Wingless 600 Sprint heats were captured by Cody Smith and Jacob Balliet.
Newcomers to the Hamlin scene included Dustin Keath in the Super Slingers. Jack Hanna made his first start in the Rookie 600 Sprints. He is a second generation driver as his family members were regulars back at the old Flemington Speedway. The Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified found a new racer with Kenny Hildebrandt finding a seat in one of the Motto Motorsports hot rods. Kenny is a Sportsman driver at Five Mile Point Speedway. Mark Connelly who debuted last week couldn't get his car to fire so sat out the evening. It was great to have Will Casazza back in action as the 70 year old was just too young to retire.
The Smith Family was extremely proud as their Son Ryan captured the All Star Circuit of Sprints win at the Outlaw Speedway in new York State on Friday night.
Frannie Powell picked up the 50/50 prize.
600 Sprint owner Jack Caruso took in the action at Hamlin on Saturday night.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsDanny Creeden Goes Topside To Capture Second Win In Exciting Accord Speedway Modified Headliner
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Accord, NY- On a hot, muggy summer evening with quick storms hitting areas south of the track, the Accord Speedway somehow remained unscathed and reeled off an outstanding racing card for another solid crowd on hand that witnessed the excellent six division racing card. The loyal Accord racing fans were offered the opportunity to go trackside and meet and greet with the talented driving roster of the speedway on camera and autograph night presented by United Pump and Tank located in Wallkill, New York.(www.unitedpumpandtank.com). Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer had the speedway grounds in its usual pristine condition and the outstanding track work prep of Gary Palmer presented the drivers with another fabulous, tacky and very racy track surface that had the drivers in all divisions talking about it all night long through the interview sessions. A & M Hardware presented the Checkered Flag Bonus. Even with the 45 minute delay for the Camera and Autograph session, the racing was completed before 11 PM.
The final outcome of the great evening of racing action found the "DC Express" Danny Creeden seeking the outer reaches of the speedway as "he drove it where they weren't" to claim his second win of the season at Accord Speedway in the United Pump and Tank Modifieds. "The Little Rock" Matt Shultz raced to his first ever career win at Accord in the Arkel Motors Sportsman headliner. "The Jersey Force" Anthony Recchio was spot on in recording his fourth win of the season in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman finale. Travis Brockner shook off his recent back luck at the speedway and proceeded to wire the field for his second win of the season in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock feature run. "The Cold Spring Kid" Jake Mason made it six wins for the season in the Want AD Digest Junior Slingshot feature. Jeremy "The Captain" Quick found the topside to be the quick side as he captured his initial win in 2017 in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car main event.
Joe Judge hammered down at the start of the United Pump and Tank Modified thirty lap main event and led the first dew laps while defending the flanks against Brian Malcolm and Kyle VanDuser. While Malcolm and VanDuser locked up in a dual, Judge stepped away from the field in a hurry. Earning some quality real estate at the top of the raceway, Creeden looked low then slid to the top of raceway as he found the fast seam and coming out of turn four slipped past both Malcolm and VanDuser to move into the runner-up slot. Judge had forged a huge lead, but Creeden was eating up the real estate quickly. As the leaders moved into slower traffic, Creeden stayed on top with Judge one lane lower and Creeden emerged as the leader on lap twelve. . before yielding to who stayed out front through lap five. Danny Creeden built up a commanding lead as he held the hot hand through the remainder of the event to claim win number at Accord for the 2017 racing season. Brad Rothaupt used some good moves off of the baseline to race into a runner-up finish with Danny Tyler coming from ninth starting place to finish third. Joe Judge and the returning Jerry Higbie completed the top five with Higbie coming from 14th starting position. Brian Malcolm headed up the second five with Richard Smith, Ed Dachenhausen, Jimmy Wells and Scott Ferrier following.
The WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman headliner found Jeff Higham leading the way for the first four laps of the event. After a mad scramble, a restart found John Miller taking over the lead for one lap before Anthony Recchio found the hot spot on the raceway to take over the point. Recchio would lead the remaining laps to race to his fourth win of the season in the division. Kevin Stevens raced to a solid runner-up finish with Higham nailing down third, Jared Miller fourth and John Miller completing the top five. Fred Smith headed up the second five with Hunter Lapp, Vinny Visconti, newcomer John Brown and Keith Johannessen finishing up the top ten.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman feature event found Matt Shultz grabbing up the early lead. Shultz had himself a fast hot rod but equally fast was Corey Cormier. With some restarts needed for some scrambles, the Shultz/Cormier battle was shaping up as a barn burner as Cormier was able to stick the nose of his race car under Shultz but could not make the winning pass as Shultz was running a near perfect race. The two remained close throughout the remainder of the event but it would be Shultz earning his first ever Accord Speedway over Cormier in another excellent Sportsman headliner. Cole Hentschel was third after stating ninth and Kyle Rohner made an exceptional run through the entire field to land in fourth place. Rich Ricci III completed the top five. The second five found Nick Johnson, the returning Danny Cross, Dave Demorest, Rafael Carson and Ralph Ronk following.
The WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint feature had last week's winner Larry McVay leading the first three laps until a mad skirmish found Brett Graham getting into McVay with Graham getting upside down and he and McVay both headed to the pits with damages. On the restart Jeremy Quick hustled to the point and took command of the event and he would lead the remaining laps to claim his first Accord Speedway win in some time. Eric Jennings, Tom Radivoy, Bob Tersillo, Heidi Hedin and Larry Ricci completed the field.
The Want AD Digest Junior Slingshot feature found Jake Mason returning to action and the young man dominated the action from start to finish to claim his sixth win of the season. Brock Pinkerous was second with newcomer Garrett Poland in third place.
The Upstate Auto Pure Stock feature found Travis Brockner jumping out front at the start of the event and it was just what he needed as he had to fight off the challenges of a very tough customer in Ray Tarantino to make his way to the WRWD Victory Lane. The win was number two for the season for Brockner. Tarantino was second in a strong run followed by Emerson Cargain Jr in third, John Hechinger fourth and Steve Williams fifth. Heading up the second five were the returning Livy Johnson, Craig Cuneo, Chris Kanuk, John Drake and James Goetchius.
GEMSTONES:
Promoter Gary Palmer offered up a great race track for the drivers as all four speed channels were utilized throughout the course of the evening and the drivers spoke highly of the track preparation.
Steve Lowitt and his United Pump and Tank group was the headline sponsor for the evening and enjoyed their time with the trackside presentations during camera and autograph night.
Heat races were run off quickly and Sportsman heat wins went to Matt Shultz, Tyler Johnston and Nick Plumstead. John Miller and Michael Corbin were victorious in the Rookie Sportsman qualifiers. Modified heats were claimed by Brad Rothaupt, Brian Malcolm and Ken Ferrier. Ray Tarantino and Emerson Cargain Jr claimed wins in the Pure Stock division heats. The Junior Slingshot heat was claimed by Jake Mason. Eric Jennings and Larry McVay captured the Sprint car heats.
New cars and drivers continue to add to the luster of the evening as the Sportsman ranks saw the addition of "Dynamite" Danny Cross and "The Tokyo Drift" Dana Carey. In the new Sprint Car Division, Larry Drake was a new addition to the field. John Brown was a new edition to the Rookie Sportsman ranks. Garrett Poland made his first start in the Junior Slingshots.
"Jumpin" John McGill filled in for the vacationing Tim Adams with the victory
lane interviews and did his usual top-flight job.
The camera and autograph session went off without a hitch as the grandstands emptied out for the fans to have a chat or get an autograph or two from their favorite drivers. Announcer Steve Pados interviewed as many drivers as time was allotted and tried to make sure each division was covered.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Hamlin Speedway Sizzles With Action In Exciting Seven Feature Race Card
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The Northeastern area of Pennsylvania has run the gamut for some very unpredictable weather in 2017 and this past week was no exception to the rule. Hot muggy weather that reached into the nineties truly tested the hearts and souls of the racers and the loyal fan bases who live for the spectacle of speed and support the speedway. Promoter Randy Smith and crew had the Hamlin Speedway racing surface whipped into impeccable condition and another spectacular racing program was presented to a good sized crowd who braved the heat to witness the best of the best in small car division racing perform at the top level of competition. The stars and cars of the speedway produced their own kind of heat through close side by side racing, slide-jobs and dicing through the pack to provide for a great evening of racing excitement. The final checkered flag waved at PM. The evening of speed was presented by S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
Some familiar faces were all smiles back in the Hamlin Victory Circle. "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith found his way back into victory lane with a wire to wire rim-riding triumph that saw him earn his second win of the season in the 600 Sprint finale. "The Bloomingburg Bullet" Taylor Mills was a bullet from the word go as he raced to his second win of the season in the All Star Slingshot finale. Ryan Lacoe was second one week ago and decided Saturday was the night to put it all together and he hustled to his first ever win in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint headliner. "Deuce" Glenn Macomber was spot on as he claimed his fifth win of the season in the Wingless 270 Sprint feature attraction. "TVD" Tanner VanDoren captured his third win of the season in the Junior Slingshot feature attraction. Pat Collins misfortune became an opportunistic moment for Dale Kober as Collins led 19 and 1/2 laps before conking out and handing the win over to Kober in the Super Slingers. Pat VanVarick utilized a super fast hot rod to race his second consecutive feature event win of the season in the Hampton RV And Trailers Sales Stage One Modified main.
The evening of feature events found the fans enjoying an exciting Junior Slingshot twenty lap headliner that saw Tanner VanDoren take off from his outside pole start and quickly found Abby Yates breathing down his tailpipe. John Kendall joined the battle as did Shelby McLaughlin and Adam Buchel. VanDoren was able to dial in some fast laps to move out to a two car length lead with second place now becoming the hot spot as Kendall gave it his all to try to slip past Yates. Even with a few restarts VanDoren was up to the task and he opened up some distance in the last five laps to seal the victory, his third of the season. Abby Yates ran a superb race to finish second with Kendall racing hard to the end to finish third. McLaughlin kept pace with a fourth place performance and Adam Buchel was fifth. Mikey Johannes recovered nicely from an early spin to race his way back to finish sixth while the remainder of the top ten were Austin Homan, Tyler Banks, Kyle swart and Tommy Stillo.
The 20-lap feature headliner for the All Star Slingshot racers found intense racing throughout the field and as always the event proved to be another classic run in the pages of the Hamlin Speedway history book. Taylor Mills utilized his pole start to his advantage for at the drop of the green flag he blasted into the lead and was banging out consistent 14.5 second laps to open up a small advantage over the field. Mike Taylor applied some pressure early on but he would become embroiled in a tight battle with Jared Silfee for second place. The entire field was running so tight a good sized runway rug would have covered them all. Silfee slipped past Taylor and Dale Kober came calling as he duked it out with Ashley Kober for fourth for many laps until he drove past her. At the same time Samantha Muller began attacking the flanks and moved into contention. There would be no denying Mills on this evening as he drove to his second win of the season. Jared Silfee, Mike Taylor, Dale Kober and Samantha Muller completed the top five. Cody Kline from 15th position headed up the second five with Mike McLaughlin, Cole Stangle, Dillon Emmons from 18th and Amanda Buchel from 20th completing the top ten. 16 of the 22 starters completed all twenty laps in the fast paced event.
Joel Smith grabbed the lead at the start of the Wingless 600 Sprint main with Chad Sandt and Zac Azzalina applying the pressure. Just as quickly Damon Paul joined the group and the four drivers matched wits from all corners of the raceway as they kept banging the cushion of the raceway. Smith was in top form as his 12.261 second laps were the fastest all night. Smith captured his second win of the season with the defending track champion Sandt in for runner-up honors. Zac Azzalina was third with Damon Paul fourth and Mick D'Agostino rounding out the top five. Colin White headed up the second five with Brandon Azzalina seventh in a borrowed car, Danny Buccafusca, JD Casazza and Duane White completing the top ten.
Glenn Macomber was quick to establish command of the point in the early going of the Wingless 270 Sprint encounter. Alex Reinsmith dogged him early and remained close until the halfway point when Macomber turned some of the fastest laps of the night in the 12.8 second range. Macomber drove away to his fifth win of the 2017 racing season with Reinsmith second, Paul Richards Jr third, Jason Muldowny fourth and Kyle Ferrucci fifth.
The Super Slinger feature belonged to Pat Collins. In his first appearance of the season, Collins was in command from the drop of the green flag. While Collins led the way, Dale Kober and Chad Sandt were locked up in a battle for second. Collins received the white flag and as he entered turn one the machine let him down and he coasted into the infield handing the race and the win over to Dale Kober, his sixth of the season. Chad Sandt and Mike Taylor followed.
Pat VanVarick controlled the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified encounter at the start of the event and he enjoyed a non-contested run to the checkered flag to claim his second consecutive win of the season. Cole Stangle gave it all he to race to a fine second place finish with Anthony Recchio third, Jasper Ziegafuse fourth and Michael Samony rounding out the top five. The second five found Cody Motto, Evan Civick, newcomer Mike Jablonka, newcomer Mark Connelly ninth, John Bachetti tenth and Mark Corna eleventh.
Ryan Lacoe grabbed the lead in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint main and would receive a mighty challenge Tony Parlanti as Lacoe maintained his race line making Parlanti go searching all of the channels to find a way around Lacoe. The battle lasted all twenty laps as Lacoe scored his first ever win at the speedway. Parlanti was second in an excellent run with Macy Litchauer holding steady in a fine run for third, marking her best run of the season. Tyler Lindsey was fourth and Noah Zielinski rounded out the top five. Dakota Bartlet recovered from a trip to the rear to come back and finish sixth with Joe Nemeth, Carmen Leggio Sr, newcomer Ryan Stangle, and Jr Williams completing the top ten.
PEARL JAMS:
Randy Smith kept pace with the speedway all night long as intermittent showers would play havoc all evening with the speedway surface. Some short intermission sessions were needed to do track maintenance and some added assistance from the drivers allowed for great racing action in all divisions.
The rain showers had the track go to a plan B format for the evening with a series of time trials held for all divisions. The Wingless 600 Sprints found Joel Smith with the hot hand as he posted the top time with a 12.319 second lap nipping Chad Sandt who timed at 12.416. The Junior Slingshots had Jake Mason posting the top time with a 15.114 clocking just ahead of the 14.283 second lap of Tanner VanDoren. Samantha Muller stopped the clocks at 14.541 seconds to lead the All Star Slingshots. The 270 Sprint times found Alex Reinsmith on top with a 12.889 second lap. The top Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint time was captured by Dakota Bartlet at 12.800 Seconds. Mike Taylor had the top time for the Super Slingers at 14.704 seconds. Top time for the Stage One Modifieds found Pat VanVarick stopping the clocks at 13.099 seconds.
Some newcomers tested the Hamlin facility for the first time with Sheldon Swart in the All Star Slingshots but unfortunately he did not take a green flag during the events. Pat Collins made his first appearance of the season and it turned out to be a heartbreaker for the veteran Super Slingshot driver. Mike Jablonka and Mark Connelly made their first starts in the Stage One Modifieds. Dennis Stawinski and JP Curry made their first starts in the Stage One Modifieds.
Soon to be wed Shannon Smith and Simon Egan were up from their Georgia residence as a bridal shower for Shannon will take place on Sunday. Both miss their racing days at Hamlin but have a bright future ahead with their upcoming marriage in September. The speedway staff wishes the happy couple much success in the future.
Announcer Steve Pados gave a heartfelt tribute to Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn who passed away last Sunday. Van Horn was a Hall of Fame legend in dirt track racing and when his racing days were over, he promoted the now defunct Lake Mocatek Speedway, located six miles to the East of Hamlin and where he gave Pados his first opportunity to announce races.
Upcoming events on the Hamlin racing calendar include a regular show on July 29th which will include the NASCAR Crew Challenge. The first event was rained out so the Crew Guys will be looking to put on a good show as the winner will be seeking bragging rights in the NASCAR Garage area. We never know who just might show up so for the fans, make plans to be there.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY- Danny Tyler Show Times His Way To Second Consecutive Win In Accord Speedway Racing Action
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The East Coast flirted with temperatures in the mid 90's for most of the week. Nevertheless and despite oppressive heat, the Catskill Mountains came alive on Friday evening and a great band of loyal racing fans came out to witness an eight feature race card presented by Kingston Collision with two locations in Kingston, New York. (www.kingstoncollision.com) Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer had the speedway grounds in pristine condition as always and the great track work prep by Gary Palmer presented the drivers with an over the top and super quick racing surface to captivate the thrill-seeking racing fans. Accord Speedway sponsored the Checkered Flag Bonus on Friday night. The eight feature event race card was completed at 11:30 PM.
When all was said and done, "Showtime" Danny Tyler put his right foot to the floor and captured his second consecutive win of the season in the United Pump and Tank Modified division. "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner remained the hot ticket at the speedway as he drove a fine race to capture his fourth win of the season in the Arkel Motors Sportsman headliner. "The Intimidator" Ray Tarantino withstood a ton of challenges to emerge victorious for his third win of the season in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock finale. "The Hurricane" Hunter Lapp put together a masterful ride to race to his first ever win in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman shootout. Larry McVay had a fast hot rod underneath him as he raced to his first ever win in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint encounter. Jaden Sleight raced to his first ever win in the Want Ad Digest Junior Slingshot main event. Mike Houghtaling had the hot ticket as he drove to his second win in the Northeast Vintage Modified finale. The final event of the evening was the Emmanuel's Marketplace 4-Cylinder Enduro feature and although he crossed the finish line in second place, Dave Donovan was awarded the win due to a foul committed by Johnny Bankich, who was announced the winner at the finish.
The Modified field came down for the start of the 30-lap main event with Brian Malcolm blasting out front and leading the first five laps. A restart found Joe Judge having lots of gas pedal and he led the next three laps. A trio of contenders emerged on the next restart and Tyler wasted no time in wresting the lead away from Judge while Jimmy Wells and the returning Rich Ricci Jr found their way around him too. A couple more cautions slowed the pace but Tyler showed his speed by being able to build on his lead in the clean air. In the final laps of the event, Tyler was able to build up a huge lead and crossed the finish line for his second consecutive victory at Accord. Jimmy Wells was the runner-up with Rich Ricci Jr nailing down third place after starting eleventh, Jesse Marks was fourth and Brian Malcolm was fifth. The second five was headed up by Scott Ferrier with Kevin Ward, Richard Smith, Ken Ferrier and the returning Tommy Johnson completing the top ten.
Chris VanDuser seized command of the Arkel Motors Sportsman event at the start but a mad scramble involving seven cars quickly brought the race to a halt. All eyes were on the front row for the restart and VanDuser grabbed the lead and would be challenged for the sixteen laps by Nick Plumstead. The ebb and flow came into play as Plumstead was able to put the nose of his race car under VanDuser at times only to have VanDuser find the magic at the top of the speedway ladder to remain in front. Things were heating up not only in the front but some masterful driving from Kyle Rohner brought him from deep in the pack to become a contender. Plumstead slipped past VanDuser on lap-17 only to have VanDuser hustle back to narrowly lead laps 18 and 19. In the meantime, Rohner pulled up on the leaders and utilized his view from the catbird seat in determining how he would go from third to first. Rohner had a great run into turns one and two and pulled down on the lower apron to make it three wide. As they entered turn three, Rohner emerged as the leader. Once in front, Rohner pulled away to his fourth win of the season in what had to be one of the best Sportsman features to date anywhere. Plumstead was second in a great drive, with Cole Hentschel third, Tyler Johnston fourth and Chris VanDuser settling for fifth. The second five was headed up by Tony Kowalchuk with Jimmy Johnson, Milton Mann, Brandon McGill and Corey Cormier following.
The WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman event had Michael Corbin blasting into the lead from his pole start. A mad skirmish brought the field to a halt. On the restart Corbin would lead the initial lap but bobbled in turn two the next time around and Hunter Lapp seized the opportunity to vault out front. A couple of restarts would bring the field back together but Lapp was up to the challenge to keep the field at bay and he would race to his first ever full size car win at Accord. Corbin was second with Fred Smith third, Jared Miller fourth and Alex VanPelt completing the top five. The remainder of the finishers included Ryan McCartney, Tom Vasta, John DeWitt, Vinny Visconti, and Kevin Stevens.
The WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint car feature attraction had Larry McVay jumping out front at the start with Brett Graham taking up the chase. Tom Radivoy found the line he was seeking and slipped past Graham and chased after McVay. McVay was in the zone as he raced to his first ever Accord Speedway victory. Radivoy was second with Jeremy Quick third, Graham fourth and Eric Jennings rounding out the top five. Bob Tersillo and Corey Wood were the final finishers.
Pole sitter Travis Brockner wasted no time in seizing control of the Upstate Auto Pure Stock feature attraction as he won the battle for the lead in turn one. Brockner would lead the first five laps before yielding to the high flying Ray Tarantino on a restart. Once in front, Tarantino opened up some distance between he and Brockner as he found the top of the raceway very much to his liking and he glued himself to the top shelf for the remainder of the event to capture his third win of the season. Brockner would race to second place with Bob Sleight third, John Hechinger fourth and Emerson Cargain rallying to nail down fifth place.
Jaden Sleight blasted out front at the drop of the green flag and led all of the way to earn his first ever victory at Accord. Ashton DeWitt completed the field and put up a good battle all of the way.
The Northeast Vintage Modifieds opened up with Ray See grabbing the early lead until the halfway point of the event when Mike Houghtaling drove by him. Houghtaling built up a big lead to go on and win his second straight event at Accord. Bob Schmidt raced to second place with Robbie Casti third, John Roese fourth and Bill Liese following. Liese was the first Sportsman across the line
The Emmanuel's Marketplace 4-Cylinder Enduro finale found Gene Helms leading the way until a red flag stopped the action. On the restart, a lapped car ran into Helms and stayed glued to him into the first turn where they both spun out and Billy Watson assumed command of the event. A couple of laps later Watson found himself running into the unforgiving boiler plate causing another red flag. Dave Donovan and Johnny Bankich were now at the point with another red flag flying and Bankich passing Donovan with the red flag being displayed. Bankich would go on and win the race and would later be penalized for his infraction handing the win over to Donovan, his third of the season. Bankich settled for second with Helms third, Adam Murphy fourth and Richard Smith fifth.
GEMSTONES:
Kudos to Gary Palmer for working right up until race time to have the track in superb condition for the evening after the three consecutive rainouts. Kudos also to Race Director Dave Rocket and Staff for a high quality quickly run program that was forced to start late due to a late arriving ambulance.
Heat races were run off quickly and Sportsman heat wins went to Tyler Johnston, Jimmy Johnson and Dave Demorest. Jared Miller and Hunter Lapp captured the Rookie Sportsman heat events. Modified heats were claimed by Brian Malcolm, Jesse Marks and Ken Ferrier. Jaden Sleight was victorious in the Slingshot heat. After the heat racing is completed, the fans will be allowed onto the racetrack to visit with their favorite drivers for autographs and driver interviews will be conducted trackside.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Brett Bieber Claims Tour Gold In Exciting Hamlin Speedway Racing Action
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The continuous rain that has ruled the summer at many of the area speedways let up on Saturday as the beautiful warm summer weather of the Pocono Mountains was the perfect backdrop for an evening of speed presented by Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith. With seven feature events scheduled, the evening ran off in fine fashion.
Randy Smith, in working with the elements, was forced to bring the grader out on the speedway to smooth out the racing surface to give all drivers an equal playing field. Once accomplished, the large crowd on hand was overly appreciative with the 10:40 completion time. More than one hundred talented race car drivers came to Hamlin on Saturday to ply their trade and when the final curtain came down it would be some familiar names at the speedway rising to the top of the heap in Victory Circle.
"The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber earned a wire to wire triumph when he captured the MA Gold Tour event in the All Star Slingshot finale. Jeff Haduck raced to his first ever Hamlin Speedway win when he claimed the Super Slinger feature event. Pat VanVarick recently returned to the speedway aboard new some new racing equipment and he added a Hampton RV And Trailer Sales Stage One Modified win to his racing resume. "The Rockaway Rocket" Danny Buccafusca inherited the lead when the leader "The Little Ice Man" Jacob Balliet had the steering break on his car and it sent him into a series of flips. Balliet was unhurt in the scary incident. Buccafusca then outdistanced a solid field of driving stars to capture his second win of the season in the 600 Sprint main and gave himself a great birthday present. "Deuce" Glenn Macomber scored his fourth win of the season in the Wingless 270 Sprint main. A time shortened Junior slingshot finale found "The Cold Spring Kid" Jake Mason securing his first ever Hamlin Speedway victory. "The Big Show" Joey Amantea executed a wire to wire run to capture his fourth win in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint excursion.
Pat VanVarick hustled into the lead by turn one of the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified event. VanVarick had the hot ticket as he clicked off some 13.2 second laps as he stretched his lead at will over the field. A caution or two slowed the pace but the event belonged to VanVarick as he nailed down his first win of the year. Anthony Recchio came in for runner-up honors with Cole Stangle third, Joel Smith fourth and Bill Dianella rounding out the top five. Mike Samony headed up the second five with Jasper Ziegafuse, Cody Motto, Joel Price, John Mirabelli and Evan Civick following to complete the field.
The wingless warriors of the 270 Sprint division moved onto the speedway for their feature attraction. Alex Reinsmith took off at the drop of the green flag and would lead through the first seven laps until Glenn Macomber was able to power past him. Once in front, Macomber raced away from the field to score his fourth win of the season. Reinsmith, Kyle Ferrucci and Jason Muldowny completed the field.
The "stars of tomorrow" Junior Slingshot division feature attraction was another great show as the rising young racers of racing continuously thrill the crowd. 23 cars started the twenty lap excursion and pole sitting James Hendricks gunned his hot rod into the lead as he cleared everyone in turn one. Hendricks would lead three laps and then Jake Mason took over. Mason was up to the challenge as he stepped away from the field but a caution brought the field back together. On the restart Mason had company as first time competitor Aidan Elliot was breathing down his tailpipe. Elliot put up a great fight but late in the race he fell to the hard charging Shelby McLaughlin as she made a great recovery after being involved in an early skirmish. Mason would go on to score his first ever win at Hamlin with the race being called official after 16 laps. Shelby McLaughlin was the runner-up with Aidan Elliot third, Mikey Johannes fourth and Joey Kalafut fifth. The second five was headed up by Austin Homan with RJ Sherman, Evan VanValkenburg, Abby Yates and James Benz completing the top ten.
The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint main event found Joey Amantea blasting into the lead and Amantea quickly tried to make it a runaway as he found his pace and clicked off consistent 12.4 second laps. Amantea was in command throughout and would race to his fourth win of the season. Ryan Lacoe was steady in a runner-up role. Tony Parlanti, Jake Roberts and Paul Richards Jr completed the top five. The second five found Dakota Bartlet, Noah Zielinski, Macy Litchauer, Cody Powell and Tyler Lindsey following.
The Super Slinger feature proved once again to be very exciting and entertaining as Jeff Haduck blasted into the lead at the drop of the green flag. Wes Hearn took up the chase and pressured Haduck for the remainder of the race but it would be Haduck claiming his first ever win at the speedway in a wire to wire triumph. Hearn was the runner-up with Mike Taylor, Dale Kober, Greg Zellman, Jim Conroy and Derek Desilva completing the field.
The headliner for the All Star Slingshots found the best Slingshot drivers in the country duking it out on the Hamlin Speedway real estate in the MA Gold Tour 30-lap event. The early going found Brett Bieber securing command of the event in turn one and although some cautions slowed the pace it would be Bieber stepping away from the field after each caution. Bieber was very steady with his times as well as he was clicking off 14 second laps to remain out front. Bieber would score the big win with Austin Silfee securing runner-up honors, Taylor Mills third, Tyler Peet fourth and Cody Kline hustling to complete the top five. The second five was headed up by Jared Silfee, with Tanner VanDoren, Nick Vinciguerra, invader Kyle Smith and Cole Stangle. Eleventh through fifteenth included Russell Benke, Wes Hearn, Troy Langerdoerfer, Mike McLaughlin and Josh Marcus. Twenty-one cars completed all thirty laps.
Danny Buccafusca seized command at the start of the 600 Sprint main headliner and led for one lap until Jacob Balliet scooted underneath him to take command of the race. Balliet was in the zone and began walking away from the field until he exited turn four as lap eight was being scored and his steering shaft broke and sent the young driving talent into a hair-raising series of flips. Balliet climbed out under his own power and was unhurt. The ironic twist of the deal was the fact it was the exact same location of the accident from one week ago.
On the restart with Buccafusca inheriting the lead, the birthday boy left nothing to chance and cranked out some 12.355 laps to go on to win his second event of the season at Hamlin. Damon Paul was second with Joel Smith, Chad Sandt and Colin White nailing top five finishes. Mick D'Agostino headed up the second five with JD Casazza, Mack Brink, Joseph Smith and Geordan Marrero completing the top ten.
PEARL JAMS:
The seven feature evening with time trials and heat events offered a ton of racing for the economically low admission price. Each event cost the fans $1.43 per feature to witness some great short track racing.
A dual series of heats were run for the All Star Slingshots for the tour event. Capturing heat wins in round one included Austin Silfee, Jared Silfee, Josh Marcus and Tess Horvath. Round two found Cody Kline, Tanner VanDoren, Tyler Peet and Dale Kober securing the wins. Junior Slingshot heats were claimed by Kyle Swart, Aidan Elliot and Kasey Hufcut. Stage One Modified heats went to Anthony Recchio and Pat VanVarick. Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint heats went to Dakota Bartlet and Paul Richards Jr. Glenn Macomber captured the lone heat for the Wingless 270 Sprints.
Wingless 600 Sprints were on the clock for time trials and Joel Smith had the fast time with as 12.437 posting over Chad Sandt's 12.497 time. The Super Slingers were also on the clock and Jeff Haduck's 14.220 topped the field.
Many new names added to the Hamlin roster list last evening in the Super Slingers as "The Sunshine Gypsy" Charlie Bodine arrived from Florida and was steering the Cory Zielinski mount. Derek Desilva made his second appearance of the season. John Lakatos made his first Stage One Modified appearance of the season. Jason Muldowny returned to action in the 270 Sprints. Many new faces joined the Junior Slingshot ranks with Aidan Elliott, Makayla Kohler making their first visits and RJ Sherman, Evan VanValkenburg, Jack VanVarick, Gavin McClure, Kyle Swart and Kasey Hufcut returning to action. Ryan Stangle was a new addition to the Rookie 600 Sprints. Kyle Smith, Mike Lapicki and RJ Smykla were on hand for the MA Gold Tour event but it was disappointing not to see the outside invaders from the All Star Slingshot ranks following the tour.
Announcer Steve Pados interviewed Justin Mills who was back on the speedway grounds but not in action. Mills thanked the everyone who assisted in helping him out last week at the speedway. Mills said the car was destroyed in the crash and for the most part his 2017 racing season is over. Later Pados was able to interview Jacob Balliet, who had such a great run going only to have the tide roll against him for the second week in a row. Balliet said there is much damage to the car but if they can make repairs he will be back to compete next week.
Birthday wishes go out to Danny Buccafusca (18) and to Tommy Stillo (12)
Stillo gave his fellow drivers a treat as ice cream sandwiches were provided in honor of his birthday.
Former Hamlin racer Dale Reed and his wife were on hand for the racing action. While Dale said he misses the racing, he doesn't miss the amount of time spent working on the race car.
Good friend Jim Fry was on hand for the second week in a row. From the looks of things he seemed to be enjoying the racing action too.
