“Jammin” Jimmy Wells Captures The Modified Cargo For 2nd Win In Accord Speedway Action
Accord, NY- Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer presented a seven division show on Friday evening that went off without a hitch. The weather was just right and the Catskills Mountain scenery is majestic to behold no matter what time of the season. The special show that was set for Wednesday night was unfortunately postponed to a later date to be named later in the summer as Promoter Gary Palmer took a nasty spill off of the grader when preparing the track for racing and has been in quite some discomfort since then. Mr. Palmer soldiered on to have the speedway ready for Friday evening and had the facility “fit as a fiddle” as he always does. Friday night produced another of those great nights as another great crowd was on hand to enjoy the evening of speed sponsored by the good folks at Dig Safely New York. (www.digsafelynewyork.com)
Jimmy Wells rocked the house with an outstanding drive to capture his second Modified win of the season at Accord and in doing so becoming the first driver to double down and collect his earnings in the Insinger Fuels Modified finale. "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner captured his fifth win of the season in the Arkel Motors Sportsman main event. Livy Johnson celebrated her 18th birthday by driving past her fellow combatants to capture her first win of the season as she captured the Upstate Auto Pure Stock encounter. "The Travelin Man" Mick D’Agostino raced to his second win of the season in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature. Michael Corbin was triumphant in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature event as he captured his ever win at the speedway. The Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder feature was captured by another first time winner as Jesse Torrens found the bottom of the raceway to be his ticket to the checkered flag and was victorious. The Emmanuel’s Marketplace Four Cylinder Enduros closed the show with a rip-snorting and entertaining fifty lap finale that found Shawn Maloney having the hot foot in a rousing win for him.
Eddie Burgess and Danny Creeden brought the field down for the start of the Insinger Fuels 30-lap headliner for the Modifieds. Creeden jumped into the lead from his front row starting spot and immediately found the center lane of the speedway much to his liking as he was able to control the top spot easily though the first twelve laps until a restart slowed the action. On the restart Jimmy Wells would move along side of Creeden and the pair squared off and it would be Wells winning the battle off of turn two to take command of the lead.
Creeden would follow but in the blink of an eye Anthony Perrego came knocking and took over the runner-up slot. By that time Wells had built up a solid lead and Perrego pullled out all of the stops to reel him and did. They would be nose to tail in slower traffic and Perrego took a couple of shots on the inside to try to slip past Wells but it would be Wells crossing the line first with Perrego a nip away in Rich Ricci Jr was third with Jerry Higbie and Danny Creeden completing the top five. The returning Andy Bachetti headed up the second five with Joe Judge, Richard Smith, Mike Ricci and Jesse Marks completing the top ten. The action was jam-packed with excitement throughout the entire 30-laps of racing.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman event found Mike Senecal in the lead for two laps before yielding to the high flying Leo Fotopolous. “The Architect” would roll out to a big lead but a disabled Greg McCloskey would bring out the caution on lap-17. On the restart it would be Kyle Rohner behind Fotopolous and Rohner kicked the race car up a notch as he drove by Fotopolous one lap later and built up a nice margin of victory at the checkered flag. Rohner would carve out a huge advantage over the field as he separated himself from the pack and he would go on to his fifth win of the season. Cole Hentschel was second with Leo Fotopolous, Nick Plumstead and Mike Senecal completing the top five. Alex VanPelt, Tyler Johnston, Danny Morgiewicz, Chris VanDuser and Anthony Recchio would round out the top ten.
Michael Corbin raced into the lead at the start of the WRWD Radio Rookie
Sportsman feature attraction. Corbin had a fast car and enjoyed a quick breakaway from the field. Only in the latter stages of the event did Travis Green get close to make it a solid event. Corbin would go on to capture his ever win at Accord in a full size car with Green in the runner-up role. Joe Coppola recovered from a spin to finish third while John Brown and the returning Samantha Muller would complete the top five positions. Charles Loiodice, Erin Paulison, Jared Miller, newcomers Travis Cogswell and Billy Fiske completed the field.
In the Upstate Auto Pure Stock event Livy Johnson seized the moment and would lead all of the way to give herself a big win on her birthday. Travis Brockner would race to second with Steve Williams, and the returning John Drake completing the top five. Emerson Cargain headed up the second five with newcomer Jimmy Maher, Ray Tarantino, newcomer JB Morris and Mike Arrigoni following.
Mick D'Agostino would jump into the lead off of turn four at the start in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint feature. D'Agostino would lead all of the way as he withstood many challenges from Jeremy Quick to go on and secure his second win of the season at Accord. Quick would finish second with Mark Conolly and Mike Traver finishing as the cars running at the end.
In the regularly scheduled Fireballers feature, Ed King led the first four laps before giving way to Jesse Torrens on a restart. Jesse Torrens would remain in front for the remainder of race and holding off challenges from Jerry Kingeter and Shawn Maloney. Torrens would hold on for his first career win at Accord and enjoy a big celebration in the WRWD Victory Lane. Kingeter, Maloney, Dave Donovan and Jeff DeGroat completed the top five. Anthony Tarantino, Marisol Torrens, Nicole Nelson, Willie DeGraw and Ed King would complete the top ten.
In the Emmanuels Marketplace Four Cylinder Enduro show closer, Jeff DeGroat would lead for the first 22-laps until yielding to the mighty fast Shawn Maloney. Once Maloney was in front he sailed around the competition with ease as he went on to his first win of the season. Jeff DeGroat would hang on for second with Johnny Bankich charging from 15th starting position to nail down third place. George Zeininger returned to action and was fourth with Shawny Hazel completing the top five.
GEMSTONES:
The hotly contested racing action was completed at 10:28 PM. Kudos again to Gary Palmer for working through much pain and agony to give the competitors an excellent race track to display their talents and for the fans to enjoy an evening of great racing action.
A special thanks goes out to our friends at Dig Safely New York. Area Rep John Yehl was in the house and interviewed with Announcer Steve Pados regarding the many benefits of calling “811.”
Writer Marie Doyons was also in the house referencing material she will be doing for the “Chronogram” Magazine. She also interviewed and stated just being on the speedway grounds made her a fan as the excitement spills over with each division that takes to the race track.
Heat wins went to Rich icci Jr, Danny Creeden and Jimmy Wells in the Modified division. Two heats were needed for the Sportsman with wins going to Matt Shultz and Leo Fotopolous. The Rookie Sportsman heats were claimed by John Brown and Michael Corbin. Mick D'Agostino captured the sprint car heat win. The Pure Stock heat wins were captured by Travis Brockner and Livy Johnson. HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Damon Paul Captures Hamlin Speedway 600's; Eight Feature Race
Card Showcases The Action
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The successful Hamlin Speedway promotional team of Randy and Denise Smith
presented their fifth event of the 2018 season on Saturday evening and another spectacular racing card entertained the loyal fans with seven divisions of racing talent that filled the Hamlin Speedway speed arena last evening. The exciting racing action produced a great crowd and eight features later some traditional winners and some new faces came away with victories and a chance to shine in the RLE Towing and Recovery winners circle.
The eight feature event card found the second special event of the season as the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint division 30-lap feature attraction found "The Ginger Bread Man" Damon Paul cooking up a strom and walking away with his first win of the season. Rookie All Star Slingshot star Tyler Banks earned his first ever win in his new division with a resounding run for the roses. Circleville, New York's Kasey Hufcut earned his fourth consecutive win at Hamlin in the Junior Slingshot final. "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn put on a whale of a show in the Super Slingers feature capturing his third win of the season. "Deuce" Glenn Macomber became the first dual event winner in the Winged 270 Sprint feature as he wired the field for his second win of the season. Adam Buchel has been knocking on the door to get a win and finally broke through all obstacles as he raced to his first ever in the Hampton RV and Trailer Stage One Modified finale. Two features were run for the JPA Masonry sponsored Rookie 600 Sprints and Noah Zielinski continued his winning ways with his second straight win and Brian Zyck, making his second start came away with his first feature event win at Hamlin.
The Junior Slingshots toured the Hamlin oval quickly in their 20-lap feature excursion. Kasey Hufcut was quick at the start and took control of the lead at the drop of the green and immediately opened a huge advantage on the field. JJ Rice, who dropped back on the initial start, quickly pedaled his way back and moved into second by the halfway point. By that time Hufcut had checked out on the field and he led all laps on his way to his fourth win of the season. Rice was second with steady James Benz third. Shelby McLaughlin raced hard from tenth starting position to finish fourth and Brian Smith completed the top five. Aidan Donaldson drove to a sixth place finish with James Hendricks seventh, Austin Homan eighth, Charlene Benz ninth and Joey Kalafut completing the top ten.
Wes Hearn took command of the Super Slinger feature at the drop of the
green flag and led all of the way despite the persistence of Dale Kober who
dogged him all of the way through the twenty lap event. The returning Paul Ennes was third with Roger Collins returning to action for fourth and Mark Exeter completing the top five.
The Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint feature was the remedy for extremity
from the word go. Joseph Smith enjoyed a pole start and made the most of it as he would lead the first two laps but a skirmish in turn two found Smith involved and he would go to the back of the bus for the restart. Damon Paul found the speedway's sweet spot and bolted out front . Numerous restarts were needed during the event but in
the green flag conditions Butler, Damon Paul, Kyle Lick, Paul Richards,
Joseph Smith and Chad Sandt kept knocking on the "butler's door." The
attrition was high but the racing was my oh my as the leaders matched moves
like Jagger. Some top challengers began to fall with Alex Bright out early,
followed by Joseph and Joel Smith and Richards.
Reigning track champion Mick D'Agostino became a player and a late
challenge came from Jacob Balliet. With 23-laps in the books, Butler began
having problems with his racer. He gave way to Kyle Lick who would go on to
capture the win in a great return to the speedway. "The Gingerbread Man"
Damon Paul gave it all he had with a gutsy, hard fought runner-up finish.
Colin White finished third with D'Agostino coming in fourth and Jacob
Balliet completing the top five. Chad Sandt headed up the next five with
the disappointed Butler, Tyler Lindsay, Mack Brink and Zack Bealer rounding
out the top ten.
Joe Nemeth had the hot hand and a very fast racer as he grabbed the lead
at the start of the JPA Masonry sponsored Rookie 600 Sprint main and
though he withstood a few restarts he dominated the event to capture his
first win of the season at Hamlin. Nemeth turned some of the fastest times
of the night as he consistently ran 12.2 second laps. Noah Zielinski raced
hard to finish and during the event did turn a 12.161 second lap for the
fastest time of the evening. Ryan Lacoe was steady with a third place run
while Zack Weisenfluh and Earl Rice completed the top five.
John Comandini was a firecracker at the start of the Hampton RV and
Trailer sponsored Stage One Modified finale as he took control of the lead
from his front row start and quickly ran to daylight. By the midway point,
all eyes were on Joel Smith as he began to get faster with each passing
lap. Lap-14 proved to be the Achilles Heel for Comandini as Smith got
around him and assumed control of the event. Smith would drive on for his
second straight win in 2018 with Comandini finishing in the runner-up role.
was third in the Motto Motorsports rental car. Amanda Buchel
raced hard to nail down fourth place and Joel Price completed the top five.
Tanner VanDoren headed up the second five with Jeff Hineline, Evan Civick,
and John Bachetti Jr and Sr completing the top ten.
Jared Silfee took the lead at the start of the headliner for the All Star
Slingshot race cars and maintained a small advantage early on despite
constant pressure from Troy Langendoerfer, Austin Silfee and Tyler Banks. A
seventh lap restart allowed Langendoerfer to restart alongside of Jared
Silfee and when the green flag dropped it would be Langendoerfer winning
the drag race on the front stretch to claim the lead. School was out at
that point for the rest of the field as Langendoerfer put on a clinic
running consistent 13.5's and 13.6's for the remainder of the laps to claim
the win. Jared Silfee, Austin Silfee, Dale Kober and Wes Hearn would
complete the top five. Scott Neary headed up the second five with Ashley
Kober, Tanner VanDoren, John Kendall and Mike Fogler closing out the top
ten.
Kyle Ferrucci jumped into the lead at the start of the headliner for the
Winged 270 Sprints and quickly distanced himself from the rest of the field
as he led all twenty laps to lay claim to his first win of the season.
Reigning track champion Glenn Macomber would finish second after battling
with Don Schmidt for most the event. Schmidt finished third with JJ Uliana
and Anthony Chrobak nailing down top five finishes.
Pearl Jams:
Once again Promoter Randy Smith and crew had the speedplant in top form
and the racers responded well as they tried out the multi-channeled
speedway throughout the night's events. The effort produced some
excellent side by side and more wide racing action.
Heat races were claimed by Aiden Donaldson and Shelby McLaughlin in the
Junior Slingshots. Kyle Ferrucci captured the 270 Sprint heat. Stage One
Modified heats were won by Joel Smith and Jeff Hineline. Rookie 600 Heats
were claimed by Ryan Lacoe, Jack Hanna and Dennis Stawinsky. The two All
Star Slingshot heats went to Mike Fogler and Troy Langendoerfer.
Top timers for the evening were Dale Kober in the Super Slingers with a
14.331 as opposed to Wes Hearn's time at 14.366. Damon Paul was fast timer
in the 600 Sprints with a 12.234 second time over Joseph Smith's 12.374 and
Butler with a 12.377.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY- Anthony Perrego Conquers The Modifieds For 1st Win In Accord Speedway Action
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer have enjoyed a great season thus far in 2018 even though there have been evenings when the skies were threatening and even doused the speedway with precipitation. Through all of the challenges they have been able to promote some of the very best racing action around. They have been able to throw caution to the wind and continue on with their season and the solid fan base has appreciated the hard work and effort the Palmer Family has put into the facility and the ability to dodge most of the challenges they have been faced with. Friday night produced another of those great nights as another great crowd was on hand to enjoy the evening of speed sponsored by the good folks at HO Penn. (www.http://hopenn.com)
"The Montgomery Missile" Anthony Perrego rocked the house with an outstanding drive to capture his first Modified win of the season at Accord and in doing so keeping the Modified win list at seven different drivers winning after seven events in the Insinger Fuels Modified finale. "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner captured his fourth win of the season in in the Arkel Motors Sportsman main event. Steve Williams claimed his second win of the season as he captured the Upstate Auto Pure Stock encounter. "The Captain" Jeremy Quick raced to his third win of the season in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature. Garden Stater "The Angle" Cole Stangle was triumphant in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature event and became the first driver to double down in the division. Ray See Sr was triumphant in the Northeast Vintage Modifed finale. The Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder feature competed in two feature attractions and Jerry Kingeter and Shawn Maloney each captured a win.
"The Lightning Bolt" Modified rookie Rich Ricci III jumped into the lead from his front row starting spot and immediately found the center lane of the speedway much to his liking as he was able to control the top spot easily though the first ten laps. Seventh starting Anthony Perrego worked his magic through the field and would begin to pressure Ricci with some baseline moves from both ends of the speedway. Perrego would vault into the lead on lap-13 and began to carve out some distance on those behind him. Mike Ricci would move into second with Jerry HIgbie following suit into third place. Mike Ricci would quickly find the lane he enjoyed and would close in the ranks on Perrego and the two would be nose to tail when a spin slowed the action. On the restart Perrego quickly raced out to a four car length lead he would maintain as the checkered flag fell for Perrego as he captured his first Accord Speedway win of the season. Mike Ricci would earn runner-up honors with Jerry Higbie, Richard Smith and Rich Ricci III completing the top five. Danny Creeden headed up the second five with Rich Ricci Jr, the returning Tyler Boniface, Michael Storms, and Allison Ricci completing the top ten.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman event found Matt Shultz in the lead for one lap before spinning out in front of the field in turn three with the drivers doing some great work in avoiding a potentially dangerous situation. When racing resumed Chris VanDuser would lead for a lap before yielding to the high flying Kyle Rohner. Rohner would carve out a huge advantage over the field as he separated himself from the pack and he would easily race to his fourth win of the season. Cole Hentschel was second with Hunter Lapp, Nick Plumstead and Chris VanDuser completing the top five. Anthony Recchio would head the second five with Matt Shultz, Kevin Stevens, Mike Senecal and Alex VanPelt rounding out the top ten.
Charles Loiodice raced into the lead at the start of the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature attraction. Loiodice enjoyed a quick breakaway from the field as he appeared headed for his second win of the season. On lap-12 Charles Loiodice came to a rolling stop in turns three and four and would be pushed into the pits. Cole Stangle inherited the lead and that was all he needed to lead the final three laps and claim his second win of the season. Travis Green rallied to finish in the runner-up slot while Joe Coppola, Brian Durbin and newcomer Bryan Jones would complete the top five positions.
In the Upstate Auto Pure Stock event Travis Brockner would lead for a lap before yielding to Steve Williams. Williams would lead until a lap-4 crash would take Brockner from the field. On the restart it would again be Williams and he would be challenged each step of the way by John Hechinger. Hechinger pulled close on occasion and on lap-12 smoke began to billow from the Williams race car. He would hold on to capture his second win of the season with Hechinger, Emerson Cargain, Ray Tarantino and Steve Kanuk following.
Mick D'Agostino would jump into the lead off of turn four at the start in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint feature. D'Agostino would lead until a scary wreck would put Dan Malley upside down in turn one. Malley would walk away from the incident. On the restart Jeremy Quick would step hard on the gas pedal and take over the lead and the power move would take him all of the way to the checkered flag for his third win of the season.
Mick D'Agostino would ern runner-up honors while the returning Bobby Tersillo, Jordan Lawrence and newcomer Gary Huston would complete the top five.
In the regularly scheduled Fireballers feature, Jesse Torrens led the first five laps before giving way to Shawn Maloney. Maloney was fast from any part of the raceway and would go on to earn his first win of the season. Jerry Kingeter, Jeff DeGroat, Ryan Heady and Jesse Torrens completed the top five.
In the held over Fireballers event, Williw DeGraw led for the first three laps until Jerry Kingeter sailed by him. Kingeter would lead the rest of the way to pick up his third win of the season. DeGraw would finish second with Jeff DeGroat, Shawn Maloney and Russell Doland completing the top five.
The Northeast Vintage Modified main found third starting Ray See Sr taking the lead on the backstretch of lap one and then leading all of the way despite some final lap heroics from Mike Houghtaling. See Sr, Mike Houghtaling, Mike Brown, Charlie Houghtaling and Bob Harless completed the top five. A great car count was on hand for the event as 15-cars took the green flag to start the event.
GEMSTONES:
The hotly contested racing action was completed at 11 PM. Kudos again to Gary Palmer and crew for whipping the speedway into excellent shape for the evening of racing action.
Heat wins went to Richard Smith, Danny Creeden and Jimmy Wells in the Modified division while three heats were needed for the Sportsman with wins going to Matt Shultz, Danny Morgiewicz and Cole Hentschel. The Rookie Sportsman heats were claimed by John Brown and Charles Loiodice. Mick D'Agostino captured the sprint car heat win. The Pure Stock heat win was captured by Travis Brockner. Fireball heat winners included Jesse Torrens and Richard Smith. Mike Brown and Charlie Houghtaling were victorious in the Vintage heats.
Craig Cuneo returned to action in 2018 and has made the transition into the sportsman division. Unfortunately Craig was caught up in the crash at the start of the feature. Good to see Mark Pullen return to action in the Modifieds. "Double D" Dave Demorest returned to action in the Sportsman. Bryan Jones was a new addition to the rookie ranks in a car that appeared to be similar to a former Bloom owned race car. Good to see Bobby Tersillo return to action in the sprinters.
Mark Conolly got upside down in the sprint car heat but repaired the car in time for the feature although he was early casualty.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Eight Features Highlight Superb Racing Action At Hamlin Speedway
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The warm summer weather has now locked into the Poconos region even though it took an extra long time in getting here. Hamlin Speedway and the Smith Family and Staff presented a superb eight feature race card on Saturday evening even with a threat of rain in the forecast. Hamlin Speedway Promoter Randy Smith had the 1/5th mile clay cushioned oval "fit as a fiddle" and as smooth as silk and a full field of race entries signed in for the evening. Once onto the speedway they used every inch of the raceway to carve out a wonderful night of entertainment for the appreciative crowd on hand. The Smith Family orchestrated the eight feature event program by 10:51 PM in the evening as some of the top stars at the speedway strutted their stuff while some new faces also found out it feels very good to be sitting at the top of the racing podium in the RLE Towing and Recovery Victory Lane.
The first edition of the NASCAR Crew Challenge was on tap for the evening and the guys from the traveling race series take great pride in mastering the Hamlin short track. Bragging rights in the NASCAR garage area always exemplifies which crew member was at the top of his game on this particular evening.
The All Star Slingshot feature headliner was captured by Scott Neary, who showed the very competitive field the quick way around the Hamlin clay. Local ace Noah Zielinski captured his first ever win at Hamlin in the JPA Masonry sponsored Wingless Rookie 600 main event. Alex Reinsmith was an absolute flash as he took command of the lead at the start and checked out on the field to capture his initial win of the season in Winged 270 Sprint action. "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn only led a half a lap during the event but all laps count as he captured his second win of the season in the Super Slinger encounter. Kasey Hufcut has arrived from New York in 2018 and the Circleville, New York driving talent captured his consecutive win in a row at Hamlin. "TVD" Tanner VanDoren led all of the way to claim his first ever win in the Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds and in doing so defeated one of the best in the business in "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith. "The Travelin' Man" Mick D'Agostino, the 2017 track champion at Hamlin, flashed his winning form with a wire to wire triumph in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint finale, in an event that had the fans on their feet through the entire event. Lowell, North Carolina resident Jason "Spanky" Edison found his car choice to be a sound one as he raced the Gilroy Motorsports hot rod to a solid win over David Cropps and Mike Williams in the NASCAR Crew Challenge.
Tess Horvath grabbed the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot feature event and led the first two laps until she lost the handle and spun out. On the restart, New Yorker Tyler Banks took over the lead and would lead for two laps until a caution halted the action. Two faulty restarts by Banks would have Banks sent to the rear and Scott Neary inherited the lead. Neary took command of the event and then some as he led the rest of the way to garner in his first win of the season. Wes Hearn was solid throughout and scored a runner-up finish. The returning Taylor Mills, Dale Kober and John Kendall completed the top five. A great comeback from Tess Horvath found her heading up the second five with Tyler Banks, Tanner Jones, Tanner VanDoren and Jasper Ziegafuse following. Fourteen cars finished on the lead lap.
The Super Slingers main event found Dale Kober with the hot hand as he blasted out of the starting gate at the drop of the green flag and would lead most of the way with Wes Hearn dogging him all of the way. Coming down the backstretch with two turns to go, Kober got tangled with a slower car and shot across the race track in front of Hearn. Heads-up driving from Kober prevented a catastrophe as he was quick to turn his car allowing Hearn to get by but preventing damage to any of the cars involved. Hearn would get the win with Dale Kober, Drew Blickensderfer, James Edwards, the returning Paul Ennes and David Guest following.
Alex Reinsmith gobbled up the existing real estate early on and would lead all of the way to claim his first win of the season at Hamlin. Track champion Glenn Macomber, Kyle Ferrucci and Don Schmidt completed the field.
The starting car field for the Junior Slingshots has displayed some amazing talent thus far in 2018 and "the stars of tomorrow" have been great, show after show early on this season. Connecticut's Talon Prinz led the initial lap only to find opening night winner James Benz taking over on lap two. Benz would lead until lap six when Kasey Hufcut dove low in turn three and won the battle off turn four to take command of the event. Once in front, Hufcut was able to step away from the field to gain his third win of the season. James Benz would finish second and a strong charge from the rear of the field netted Shelby McLaughlin a fine third place finish. JJ Rice also came from the rear of the field to finish fourth while Austin Homan started 15th and would complete the top five. James Hendricks came from 13th to head up the second five while Talon Prinz, Brian Smith, Ashton DeWitt and first time performer in 2018 Evan Van Valkenburg would complete the top ten.
The start of the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Wingless Sprint event found the returning "Ry-Guy" Ryan Stangle charging out front at the start and he would lead the first lap before a wreck on the backstretch found Cody Powell upside down. Powell was unhurt in the incident. On the restart Stangle was hustling hard and behind him came a high-flying Noah Zielinski. The pair broke away with Dennis Stawinsky and Zach Weisenfluh providing the opposition. Zielinski mustered up a full head of steam and slipped past Stangle on lap twelve as he attacked the cushion and came away as the leader. A caution slowed the action on lap-16 and Stangle abruptly retired to the pit area. On the restart Zielinski would receive more competition as Zack Weisenfluh came a calling. Zielinski held on and captured his first ever Hamlin win with Weisenfluh second, Dennis Stawinsky third, Ryan Lacoe fourth and Joey Amantea fifth. Aidan Borden headed up the second five with Brandon Nicholas, newcomer Josh Diehl, Earl Rice and Tony Parlanti completing the top ten.
Mick D'Agostino led the way in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint feature. He worked the baseline of the speedway to perfection with a tremendous field of talent behind him. Tons of passing took place throughout the event but the action was hot and heavy up front. D'Agostino actually lost the lead on lap seven to Colin White but a caution occurred without completing a lap and D'Agostino returned to the top spot. He did not make a mistake again as White would come to a halt on lap-13. The change placed the hard charging Damon Paul in the runner-up slot as he began the event in tenth place. Joel Smith, Cody Smith, Chad Sandt and Jacob Balliet were making their moves as the laps dwindled down. Paul made a couple of bids for the lead but D'Agostino was rock solid in collecting his first win of the season at Hamlin. Joel Smith nipped Damon Paul for second at the finish line with Paul in third, Cody Smith fourth and Chad Sandt fifth. Jacob Balliet headed up the second five with Joseph Smith, Mack Brink, Duane White and Joey Amantea following.
The Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified event found Tanner VanDoren grabbing the lead at the start and just as quickly had Joel Smith racing with him for the lead. The youngster VanDoren was cool, calm and collected as he stayed in the 13 second time bracket and Smith just a tick or two behind. VanDoren would race on to his first career win in the division with Joel Smith in the runner-up slot. Amanda and Adam Buchel were next in line with Joel Price completing the top five. Evan Civick, John Bachetti Jr, Cody Motto and Jeff Hineline completed the field.
The NASCAR Crew Challenge is always competitive as each driver yearns for the opportunity to head back to the NASCAR Garage to boast about how he whipped the rest of the field on his way to victory. Jason Edison led all of the way to claim the win with David Cropps, Mike Williams, Brad Tunny, Chris Delgreco, Jason Sopczak, Drew Blickesderfer and James Edwards finishing in that order.
PEARL JAMS:
The hotly contested evening of racing entertainment began on time and the staff kept moving the program along swiftly with a couple of breaks taken to put the moisture machine on the track surface and to keep the race track racy throughout the evening. Promoter Randy Smith again provided the entrants a great track for an exciting evening of racing.
Newcomers to the speedway included Paul Ennes as the former track champion returned to action after a few years hiatus. He was competing in a race car formally owned by Bill Darcy. "The J-Man" Jasper Ziegafuse transitioned into the All Star Slingshots and performed well in his initial outing. Evan Van Valkenburg made his initial start of the season in the Junior Slingshots. Brock Pinkerous made his first appearance in the Junior Slingshots in his Northeast Paving and Sealcoat machine. Another new name was Pauly Hartwig III, also in the Junior Slingshot division. Josh Diehl was a new entry for the Rookie 600 Sprints. It was good to have Geordan Marrero return to action in the 600 Sprints and John Bachetti Jr in the Stage One Modifieds.
Heat race wins went to Kasey Hufcut and Mikey Johannes in the Junior Slingshots. In the 600 Sprints, Chad Sandt and Colin White captured heat race wins. Kyle Ferrucci captured the heat race win for the 270 Sprints. Adam Buchel was victorious in the Stage One Modified heat. Jason Edison
captured the Super Slinger heat.
The Rookie 600 Sprints did time trials with the top time going to Ryan Stangle at 12.392 Seconds. The All Star Slingshots also times and Jared Silfee timed quickest at 14.321 Seconds.
"The Big Show" Joey Amantea had an interesting evening albeit also a frustrating one. When his primary car began having issues, the Team left the speedway and headed back to the shop and returned with a back-up so Joey could continue racing for the evening. That is dedication!

Accord, NY- Kyle VanDuser Cements the Modified Field For 1st Ever Win In Accord Speedway Action
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Accord Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer were very much aware the rain was heading in their direction, but they threw caution to the wind and they and their staff hustled through the evening and completed five of the six divisions before Mother Nature threw her weight around the area. A nice crowd was on hand to enjoy the evening of speed sponsored by the good folks at Northeast Paving and Sealcoating. www.http://northeastpavingandsealcoating.com
"The Koncrete Kid" Kyle VanDuser rocked the house with an outstanding drive to capture his first ever Modified win at Accord and in doing so besting one of the top names in the history of the speedway "The
Chairman of the Board" Rich Ricci Jr in the Insinger Fuels Modified finale. "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner captured his third Accord win of the season in a rim-riding battle with "The Tornado" Tyler Johnston in the Arkel Motors Sportsman main. Emerson Cargain Jr made it three wins for the season as he captured the Upstate Auto Pure Stock encounter. "The Captain" Jeremy Quick raced to his second win of the season in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car feature. Hyde Park, New York rookie Joe Coppola was triumphant in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature event to claim his first ever win at the speedway. The Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinder feature will be run at a later date.
VanDuser jumped into the lead from his front row start and pasted his hot rod at the top of the cushion. A spin by Danny Creeden brought the field to a halt on lap six. On the restart, Rich Ricci Jr would make many overtures for the lead but the determined VanDuser had found the zone he wanted and stuck to his guns with Ricci working off of the baseline to find his way into the lead. Just behind the leaders Jimmy Wells, Jerry Higbie, Anthony Perrego and Mike Ricci were working their magic forward.
Ricci would pull out all of the stops and for a few laps the lead duo raced side by side with VanDuser continuing to win the battle off the top of the raceway. VanDuser would not be denied on this evening and steered his VanDuser Concrete Foundation racer into the WRWD Victory Lane. Rich Ricci Jr was the runner-up in a fine drive with Jimmy Wells, Jerry Higbie and Anthony Perrego following. Mike Ricci headed up the second five with Jesse Marks, Michael Storms, Scott Ferrier and Richard Smith completing the top ten.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman event found "The Junior Rock" Matt Shultz grabbing the lead from his front row start. Shultz built up a lead of six car lengths until a caution came out on lap ten for a disabled Jamie Yannone. When racing resumed Tyler Johnston would place plenty of pressure on Shultz and finally slip past him on lap-14. Along with the lead change, Kyle Rohner blasted into the runner-up slot and the the run for the roses took on a whole new meaning.
Johnston was solid as he raced off of the cushion with Rohner testing all of the channels to find a way around him. On lap-21 Rohner found the hot spot of the raceway to make his move and he worked past Johnston. Rohner would lead the final laps and claim his third win of the season. Johnston was tough as nails in second while Cole Hentschel, Nick Plumstead and Chris VanDuser completed the top five. The second five found Corey Cormier, Hunter Lapp, RJ Smith, Chris Stevens and Leo Fotopolous from sixth to tenth.
Joe Coppola raced into the lead at the start of the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman feature attraction. Coppola enjoyed a quick breakaway but Charles Loiodice worked his way into the second position and began to reel Coppola in. Around the halfway mark Loiodice would spin between turns three and four causing a caution. On the restart, Coppola separated himself from the field and would go to capture his first ever win at Accord. Travis Green, Cole Stangle Mike Travis and a charge back from Loiodice would complete the top five.
A first lap crash slowed the action in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock event as it put fan favorite Livy Johnson on the sidelines for the remainder of the evening. When racing resumed Emerson Cargain grabbed the lead as he got off to a great start and it would prove to be the winning move as Cargain would wire the field on his way to his third win of the season. John Hechinger kept it close with a fine in the runner-up slot. Steve Williams was third even though he nursed a smoking gun to the finish line. Travis Brockner, John Drake, Ray Tarantino and Chris Kanuk completed the field.
Jeremy Quick would jump into the lead off of turn two in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint feature and the power move would take him all of the way in the event as Quick would lead all laps on his way to his second win of the season. Andrew Davis was second with Mick D'Agostino third, newcomer Kyle Puglise fourth and Mark Connoly fifth.
GEMSTONES:
The hotly contested racing action was completed at 9:30PM as the heavy rains pelted the speedway hard as the Rookie event came to a close. Kudos to Gary Palmer and crew for whipping the speedway into excellent shape for the evening of racing action.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsHamlin, PA - Seven Great Features As Hamlin Speedway Gets Back On Track
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The 2018 racing season at the Hamlin Speedway has been struggling to get their schedule up to snuff as the whims of Mother Nature have been causing havoc with the Northeast. Three rainouts already this season have made for a crawling start but this past Saturday evening found the weather superb and the racing far greater as the racing drivers put on a whale of a show for their loyal fans. The Smith Family offered another fabulous racing show in the Poconos Mountains on Memorial Day weekend. Promoter Randy Smith had the 1/5th mile clay cushioned facility in impeccable condition and all divisions put on a great show for the great crowd on hand to witness the exciting side by side and nose to tail racing action. The sizzling racing action went of without a hitch and was completed at 10:30 PM. The evening of speed was sponsored by S&S Speedways indoor go karts located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
When the heart stopping racing action was completed, Austin Silfee captured the 20-lap finale for the All Star Slingshots. Kasey Hufcut raced to his second win of the season in the Junior Slingshots feature attraction. "Bad" Chad Sandt was all business as he wired the field for his second win of the season in the hotly contested Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. "Deuce" Glenn Macomber raced to his first win of the season in the 270 Winged Sprint main event. "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith dominated the action from start to finish as he led all laps to capture his third win of the season in the Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified feature tour event. "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn raced to his first win in the Super Slingers headliner after a lead swap fest with Dale Kober. Joe Nemeth captured his second win in the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint headliner.
After being introduced trackside to the fans, the Junior Slingshots rolled away for their scheduled 20-lap feature excursion. Abby Yates grabbed the lead at the start and would lead the first eleven laps of the event with pressure coming from opening night winner James Benz. Kasey Hufcut slipped past Benz on lap nine with aspirations for the lead. Yates got out of turn four too wide and Hufcut made the most of it as he took over control of the point. Once in front, Hufcut was able to drive away from the field with a comfortable margin to record his second straight win at the speedway. JJ Rice ran a great race for third while track champion Shelby McLaughlin was fourth and Abby Yates would finish fifth. The second five found Brain Smith, Aidan Donaldson, Jasper Ziegafuse, James Hendricks and Talon Prinz following.
The 270 Sprint main event found "The Deuce" Glenn Macomber setting a torrid pace. Macomber handled lots of pressure from Kyle Ferrucci early on but Macomber was consistent in the 12.1 second lap times and slowly pulled away and drive to his first win of the season. Ferrucci would finish second with JJ Uliana third and Alex Reinsmith fourth.
The JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint main saw Joe Nemeth lead the first two laps of the finale that came to a quick halt when Jackson, New Jersey's Aidan Borden barrel-rolled in turned two. Borden escaped injury in the crash. On the restart it would be Nemeth back in command but getting some hard pressure from Dennis Stawinsky. Tyler Lindsay would soon join the leaders and a three car breakaway ensued. A twist, a turn, a wrinkle and a jingle or two slowed the action in the mid stages of the event but Nemeth was in the zone and up to the task as he kept the field behind him and would race to his second win of the season. Stawinsky was the runner-up with Tyler LIndsay, Noah Zielinski and Zack Weisenfluh completing the top five. Brandon Nicholas headed up the second five with Carmen Leggio Jr, Cody Powell, Joey Amantea and Earl Rice completing the top ten.
The Super Slinger feature found the division top two stars Wes Hearn and Dale Kober duking it out from start to finish. An event that produced at least fifteen lead changes would eventually go to Wes Hearn for his first win of the season. Kober would finish second with newcomer Mark Exeter finishing third.
The Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint main was top-notch from the drop of the green flag as Chad Sandt found the top of the raceway much to his liking and he blasted out in front of the highly competitive field. Colin White would stay close from his inside perch and track champion Mick D'Agostino would make it a three car battle by lap four. By the midway point of the action as many as eight cars were matching wits and real estate positions. The drivers attacked each other from all angles and reached the top of the cushion and drove to the baseline in an attempt to move forward. In one of the most competitive events ever held at the speedway, it would be Sandt capturing the win with White settling for runner-up honors. Joseph Smith and Joel Smith would race to third and fourth with D'Agostino settling for fifth. Joe Nemeth headed up the second five with Tyler Lindsay, Joey Amantea, Zack Bealer and Mack Brink completing the top ten.
The Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified tour event feature found Joel Smith controlling the event from start to finish as he led all thirty laps to claim the victory. Smith hit his marks flawlessly and ran consistent 13.2 second laps to leave the field in his wake. Adam Buchel raced hard and finished in the runner-up slot and worked hard to hold off a hard charging John Comandini, who would finish third. Tanner VanDoren, Jeff Hineline, Evan Civick, Amanda Buchel and Cody Motto would complete the field.
Austin Silfee would secure the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot main attraction and that would be all that was needed as he would hold off the attempts of his teammate Scott Neary to race to his first win of the season. Ashley Kober was third with Wes Hearn and Dale Kober nailing down top five finishes. Heading up the second six were Tyler Banks, Jared Silfee, Adam Buchel, Tanner VanDoren, John Kendall and Rachel Dickinson.
Pearl Jams:
Kudos go out to Randy Smith and his staff for preparing an excellent racing surface for the night of racing battles. With all of the rain that fell during the past few weeks and losing back to back shows, it was nothing short of a miracle the racing could take place at all. The show was able to move along swiftly even with Smith and company taking some breaks to constantly manicure the racing surface and gibe all of the competitors an equal track to race on. Rain did fall during intermission but did nothing to halt the festivities this time around.
Glenn Macomber was fast timer for the 270 Sprints with a 12.251 second time. The Junior Slingshots timed and Ashton DeWitt, in his first season at Hamlin, was quick man with a 15.019 time.
Heat race wins were captured by Noah Zielinski and Tyler Lindsay in the JPA Masonry Wingless Rookie 600 Sprint heats. Joel Price and Joel Smith captured heat wins for the Stage One Modifieds. Heat winners for the All Star Slingshots were Dale Kober and Austin Silfee. Colin White and Chad Sandt were the heat winners for the Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprints. Wes Hearn captured the lone Super Slinger heat.
New faces continue to emerge at Hamlin as new competitors included for the Junior Slingshot racers was Talon Prinz. Mark Exeter and Derek DeSilva were new Super Slinger competitors. Robert Burakowski, Matt and Cody Zielinski were new additions to the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint racers.
A special treat for the Memorial Day fans was Junior Slingshot racer Joey Kalafut providing the playing of the National Anthem with his guitar. He did an excellent job and this may be the start of something big for the aspiring racer from Jessup, Pennsylvania.
The third show of the season is now history!
