Logan Wagner holds off Danny Holtgraver for first-ever Arctic Cat All Star win at Lernerville Speedway

SARVER, PA (June 2, 2017) - For the first time in his young career, Logan Wagner is a main event winner with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, this time holding off a former Lernerville Speedway track champion, as well as the defending Arctic Cat All Star champion, for a $5,000 top prize. The Harrisonville, Pennsylvania, native started from the pole position and led all 30 circuits on Friday evening, June 2, at Lernerville Speedway, crossing under the final checkers nearly three seconds ahead of the competition. “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver crossed under the flagstand behind Wagner, followed by Chad Kemenah, Cole Duncan and Tim Shaffer.

“I can’t even put tonight into words,” Logan Wagner explained in Lernerville Speedway victory lane. “I gotta thank everyone that helps me out. My dad, especially, who does so much for me and my career. I didn’t think I was really that good tonight, but I was good enough to win and that is all that matters. This is amazing.”

Wagner took command at the drop of the initial green flag and immediately opened his advantage, stretching his lead to nearly two seconds by lap 10, ultimately pushing that margin to nearly three seconds during other segments of the main event.

A total of four cautions, three during the first 11 circuits, halted feature competition during the 30-lapper, and despite all four creating the potential for a takeover attempt, the clean air and open race track proved to be nothing more than an advantage for Logan Wagner. Even when traffic came into play during the midpoint of the main event, as well as during the last six circuits, Wagner’s preferred line around the thin, top edge of the speedway allowed for the most momentum.

“I just knew I had to run [turn one] the best that I could without getting up over the edge,” Wagner said in victory lane. “I know I went over the backstretch three or four times tonight. I was really tight through turns three and four, so I had to muscle my way around there. But I was able to really capitalize in turns one and two.”

Danny Holtgraver, Ryan Smith, Chad Kemenah and Cole Duncan each made their presence known with heated battles for the remaining positions inside the top-five. Holtgraver, the main event’s seventh starter who was making his first Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions appearance of the season, solidified the runner-up position on lap 21, ending a near-ten lap battle with Hunter Racing's Chad Kemenah.

“It feels good to be back in a sprint car,” Danny Holtgraver explained. “We haven’t raced that much this year, but when we do plan to race, we plan to have fun and work for results like this. Tonight was a lot of fun.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their short swing through Western Pennsylvania with a visit to Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday evening, June 3; the first and only appearance of the 2017 season, as well as the first visit in nearly two years.

“America's Series” last visited the Mercer County short track on July 4, 2015. The holiday program was the third of three appearances at the speedway that season, two of which during Independence Day weekend. The “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith was the main event winner on July 4, with former Knoxville Nationals main event starter Lee Jacobs taking the checkers one night prior on Friday, July 3.

Mercer Raceway Park will open pit gates at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 3. A mandatory drivers meeting will be conducted at 5:30pm with hot laps to follow at 6:30pm, sharp. Byron Reed edges Craig Mintz for Attica All Star Victory
Memorial Day weekend continues Sunday at Mansfield Motor Speedway

ATTICA, OH (May 26, 2017) - For the first time since 2013, and for the 11th time during his storied career, Monclova, Ohio’s Byron Reed is a main event winner with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, this time holding off Craig Mintz and DJ Foos at Attica Raceway Park to officially kick-off Memorial Day weekend. Reed, who started fifth on the feature grid, did not take command of the 40-lap program until lap 28, but swapped positions with Craig Mintz and Chris Andrews on multiple occasions until solidifying his place at the top of the running order. As an added note, it was Reed’s first Arctic Cat All Star victory at Attica Raceway Park since June 18, 2010, as well as his fifth overall.

“That’s what I love about Attica,” Reed explained in victory lane. “Especially when you get into these 40-lap races. I’m not sure I was the best car here tonight, but you just keep battling and battling and battling. Sometimes, things just go your way.”

Reed worked his way forward immediately, crossing under the flagstand for the first time fourth in the running order, ultimately moving ahead to take third on the following circuit. Three cautions before hitting double-digits on the lap counter kept the field stacked, allowing Reed and Craig Mintz, who was making his first start of the 2017 season, to race nose-to-tail with race leader Chris Andrews. Reed and Mintz continued to apply pressure on Andrews for the next 20 circuits, eventually intensifying as the trio of frontrunners reached the back of the field.

Despite Andrews scored as the leader during each of the initial takeover attempts, nearly a half-dozen lead changes would occur between laps 24 and 27, with Reed eventually coming out on top to officially lead lap 28. A final caution on lap 31 would stack the field one final time, but clean air and an open race track proved to be too beneficial Reed.

Mintz chased the familiar Crown Battery-backed No. 5 to the final checkers, followed by DJ Foos, Broc Martin and Stuart Brubaker. Andrews, who led the first 27 circuits before battling the remaining distance inside the top-three, slowed due to low fuel issues just before the finish and settled for seventh.

“I don’t know, but if nobody had fun watching that, then you need to find a different sport,” Craig Mintz explained, driver of the Ed Neumeister-owned No. 11N. “That was a great time tonight. Byron, Chris, DJ; those guys are all so much fun to race with and you can trust those guys. It’s fun, clean racing. When we all got into lap traffic, that was the most fun. That was probably the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I can’t thank Ed Neumeister enough for this opportunity. That whole crew really busted their butts tonight.”

“When you have the momentum, you do not want to let off,” Byron Reed said when discussing racing through traffic. “I’m sure you’ve heard the expression ‘my ass cheeks were starting to pucker.’ Things were getting pretty tight. I didn’t want to back off because I knew that was my chance; there was a small hole in traffic and I had to take it.”

Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition will continue on Sunday evening, May 28, with the inaugural Memorial Classic at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The state-of-the-art complex, recently transitioning back to a dirt facility for the first time since asphalt covered the half-mile in 1999, will host the Tony Stewart-owned organization for the first time since 1988; the first and only Arctic Cat All Star appearance during the 2017 season. “The Mouse” Kenny Jacobs is the all-time leading Arctic Cat All Star winner at Mansfield Motor Speedway, earning three main event victories between 1984 and 1988.

Trey Starks earns Roy Morral Tribute for first ever Arctic Cat All Star victory

BEDFORD, PA (April 30, 2017) - For the first time in his young career, Trey Starks is an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner, outrunning Dale Blaney and Lucas Wolfe for the Roy Morral Tribute title at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Starks, pilot of the Scott Gobrecht-owned/Textron Off Road/No. 44, took command officially on lap three and never looked back, crossing under the final checkers 2.2 seconds ahead of the competition. The $5,000 victory was Starks’ first in Central Pennsylvania.

“I don’t even know what to say right now. This is amazing,” Trey Starks said in victory lane. “This is such a humbling sport. We finished 18th last night at Lincoln Speedway, and now we are in victory lane with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. This is a dream come true.”

Pole sitter Lucas Wolfe and New Castle, Indiana’s Caleb Armstrong led the 26 starters to green on Sunday night at Bedford Speedway. Wolfe grabbed the early advantage and led the first two circuits before the main event’s first caution appeared on lap three. It was on the restart when Trey Starks made his bid for the top spot, driving under Lucas Wolfe to officially take command for the first time.

A pair of cautions on lap six, one of which resulting in red flag conditions, halted the field once again, but neither created any distraction for Starks. The Puyallup, Washington, native brought the field back to life and returned to a demanding lead, eventually reaching the tail of the field just before the midpoint of the 25-lap program.

While Starks ran away in traffic, a battle for the second position soon commenced between Lucas Wolfe and Dale Blaney. Blaney, who started sixth on the main event grid, chased Wolfe nearly nose-to-tail in traffic for five circuits, eventually taking away the runner-up spot on lap 20. Despite Blaney’s attempt to chase down the top spot, Starks’ lead had increased to nearly four seconds, only cutting the advantage to just over two seconds by the time the final checkers flew. Lucas Wolfe held on to finish third aboard the Mike Barshinger-owned/No. 24, followed by Tim Shaffer and Johnstown’s Dan Shetler.

“When you’re out in front like that, especially ahead of a guy like Dale Blaney, every move in traffic is probably the wrong move,” Trey Starks explained. “I was just trying to get through traffic as quickly as I could. We’ve been having such a tough start to the year. I’m so glad to get one for my team.”

With three rounds of Central Pennsylvania competition complete, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will move forward and continue their 2017 campaign with a return to The Keystone State, this time spending a weekend on the western edge of Pennsylvania with visits to Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, respectively. “America’s Series” will visit Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park only once in 2017, each awarding $5,000 top prizes.

Sheldon Haudenschild dominates for Arctic Cat All Star win at Wayne County Speedway

ORRVILLE, OH (April 22, 2017) - With his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series weekend commitments in Arkansas and Missouri washed away by Mother Nature, Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild decided to make the long trek home. The decision proved to be worth $5,000.

Sheldon Haudenschild dominated Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition on Saturday evening at Wayne County Speedway, charging forward from sixth on the main event grid to win the non-stop, 30-lap A-main by a margin equaling six seconds. The current World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year point leader took command for the first time on lap 12, driving under his father, Jac Haudenschild, between the first and second corner. It was the 16th Arctic Cat All Star victory of Haudenschild’s career and his fifth at Wayne County Speedway.

“This car was a dream all night long,” Sheldon Haudenschild explained in victory lane. “My guys did one heck of a job which made my job a lot easier, too. The track tonight was great as always. It’s pretty cool to come back here and have an opportunity to race close to home.”

The “Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild, aboard the Jamie Miller-owned No. 6M, led the Arctic Cat All Star field to green on Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway, quickly overtaken by Caleb Armstrong as the front-runners approached the flagstand for the first time. The New Castle, Indiana, native maintained on top until lap three when Jac Haudenschild reclaimed the point position. Haudenschild and Armstrong, soon flanked by Chad Kemenah, raced at the front of the field in that order until lap nine when Sheldon Haudenschild made his first appearance inside the top-three.

Haudenschild, aboard the Haudenschild Racing/Southern Pacific Farms/Finzer Farms/No. 93, drove by Chad Kemenah to claim third on lap nine, eventually taking the second position from Caleb Armstrong on lap ten. By that time, traffic had already started to intensify, allowing young Haudenschild to catch his father by utilizing slower cars, as well as the very topside of the speedway. The father/son duo battled through lap 11, only to swap positions on lap 12, with the winning move occurring near the exit of turn two. Sheldon Haudenschild was unchallenged the remaining distance, instantly increasing his advantage to a near-full straightaway by lap 15. When the final checkers flew, Haudenschild had a six second advantage, chased to the finish by Chad Kemenah, Jac Haudenschild, Caleb Armstrong, and Travis Philo.

“The cushion in one and two was really good, but my car was so good that I didn’t have to go up there and touch it much,” Haudenschild explained. “I got around my dad early, but you can never be too sure about him. He never gives up, so you almost have to expect that he’ll be coming back at some point. I wish him and I could have finished 1-2, but it is what it is. We are happy to get the win.”

With his runner-up finish, Chad Kemenah remains in control of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase. The five-time and defending Arctic Cat All Star champion now has seven top-ten feature finishes in eight Arctic Cat All Star starts.

“We have a really good race team right now. The car was really good all night long. Hats off to Sheldon [Haudenschild] and his guys. They were really good,” Kemenah explained. “Consistency is really important. We’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing and the wins and championships will show up.”

With their three-race swing through The Buckeye State complete, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will switch gears and turn east, this time crossing The Keystone State for a trio of programs in Central Pennsylvania. Dubbed the Pennsylvania Posse, Central Pennsylvania’s finest will challenge the near-20 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions teams on three consecutive occasions stretching from Friday, April 28, to Sunday, April 30.

The Arctic Cat All Stars will visit Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway, respectively, during the upcoming weekend, each awarding a $5,000 top prize, as well as full points toward the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star championship. “America’s Series” nearly swept competition in Central Pennsylvania during its spring swing of 2016, earning victories at Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway and Port Royal Speedway on April 17 and April 23.

Spencer Bayston holds back Cole Duncan and Tim Shaffer to claim first-ever Arctic Cat All Star victory during HD Supply Spring Nationals

ATTICA, OH (April 15, 2017) - For Lebenon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston, it took just 15 winged sprint car starts to park himself in victory lane, earning the HD Supply Spring Nationals finale victory worth $5,000 over a stout Arctic Cat All Star field at Attica Raceway Park.

Bayston, pilot of the Kevin Swindell-owned/Swindell Speed Lab/No. 39, outperformed 46 other Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions entries that were signed-in on Saturday night at the home of “Ohio’s Finest Racing,” eventually charging forward from seventh on the main event grid to secure his position on top of the feature podium. Cole Duncan finished second during the 40-lap program, followed by Tim Shaffer, Dale Blaney, and defending Arctic Cat All Star champion Chad Kemenah.

“Holy crap, we’re in victory lane here at Attica Raceway Park,” Spencer Bayston said. “I didn’t even know how to get to victory lane or where to go. I drove on to the front stretch, but I figured out pretty quick that was wrong. This place is absolutely packed. A big ‘thanks’ to all of the fans for coming out here tonight. Hopefully you guys enjoyed it.”

Pole-sitter Cole Duncan took command during the drop of the initial green flag, leading Shawn Dancer and California native Carson Macedo by the flag stand for the first time. The Lockbourne, Ohio, native maintained the top spot during the first seven circuits, ultimately surrendering the point position to Carson Macedo on lap eight. It took Macedo two attempts to get around Duncan, eventually using a textbook slide job between turns three and four to officially take command. Utilizing the very topside of the speedway, Macedo cruised out in front of the field for the next five circuits, but mechanical woes on lap 14 halted any winning potential.

From that point forward, Bayston was the man in charge; already climbing from the inside of row four to seize third on lap six, and moving into second on lap 11. After inheriting the top spot, Bayston opened his command immediately, and did so without any distractions. The former USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year hit traffic for the first time just beyond the halfway mark, but still maintained a three second advantage, eventually increasing his command to four seconds by lap 30.

A late-race caution on lap 33 would stack the field one last time, but a clear groove and clean air proved to be too much of an advantage for Bayston; crossing under the final checkers with a two second advantage ahead of Cole Duncan and the “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer.

“We were getting through traffic pretty clean there. I wasn’t really sure who was behind me. I could feel the rubber starting to build, so I just tried to be as conservative as I could with my tires,” Bayston said. “I can’t thank Kevin and Jordan Swindell, as well as my parents, enough for this opportunity. They have done so much with this program. This is going to be a fun year.”

One week from today, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude their April tour of The Buckeye State with a visit to the Wayne County Speedway near Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, April 22. It will be the first of four Wayne County Speedway appearances by “America’s Series” in 2017, one of which during the upcoming edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket, as well as the second running of the Pete Jacobs Memorial worth $10,000 on Sunday, September 3. Next Saturday’s Wayne County Speedway showcase will be the first official event of the 2017 season for “Orrville’s Historic Oval;” the 57th visit by the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions since 1970.

Wayne County Speedway will open gates at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 22. Qualifying time trials are scheduled to hit the speedway at 6:00pm, followed by an entire Arctic Cat All Star program complete with heat races and respective main events.
