CHILLICOTHE, OH (April 9, 2017) - In dramatic fashion, Alvada, Ohio’s Chad Kemenah scored his first Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory of the 2017 season on Sunday night in Chillicothe, Ohio, driving around race leader Lee Jacobs on the final circuit to score $5,000 at Atomic Speedway. The five-time and defending Arctic Cat All Star champion, who started sixth on the main event grid, used a late-race caution and a wide, slicked-off racing surface to help stage his dramatic finish.

“Before heading out for the feature, my car owner, who is the greatest guy in the world, told me ‘remember, this is where we won our championship.’ That really gives you something to think about before going out to race,” Chad Kemenah explained. “I can’t say enough about Rob Hunter and this team. My brother does one heck of a job. He really makes my job easy.”

Outside pole-sitter Lee Jacobs took command during the drop of the initial green flag, soon followed by fellow full-time All Star Ryan Smith and Lockbourne, Ohio, native Cole Duncan to complete lap number one. Jacobs maintained control for the first 29 circuits, at one point separating himself from the rest of the field by nearly three seconds. Traffic came into play for the first time on lap eight, eventually allowing Armstrong, who overtook the second position just before halfway, and Duncan to close-in on the 1881 Racing/Simcox Grinding & Steel/No. 81.

Chad Kemenah, who already climbed two positions to find himself just outside of a podium spot, caught a big break on lap 20 when Duncan and Armstrong made contact with a spinning lapped car between turns one and two, also nearly collecting Lee Jacobs. Armstrong would get the worst of the incident and suffer from a flat left rear tire, forcing the New Castle, Indiana, native to restart at the rear of the field. Despite wing damage, Duncan maintained his position in the running order; keeping momentum and not stopping on the race track after making contact. With Armstrong surrendering his position, Kemenah moved into third for the restart, eventually moving by Duncan for second on lap 22.

Chasing Jacobs through traffic, Kemenah made his bid for the top spot on the 30th and final circuit, driving by Jacobs at the exit of turn two and surviving a last-ditch effort pass by the No. 81 through the final corner. Lee Jacobs would hold on to finish second, followed by Ryan Smith, Cole Duncan, and Dale Blaney.

For Kemenah, the victory was the 31st of his career during Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition and his second at Atomic Speedway. With his victory, equaling his third top-five finish of the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star season, the pilot of the Hunter Racing/Seneca Energy/No. 10H officially takes command of the Arctic Cat All Star championship point chase.

“The clearer the race track got, the better I got. We didn’t have a spectacular qualifying effort here tonight, but my crew kept plugging away. This is probably one of my favorite race tracks in the country. I want to thank all of you for coming out here and supporting [Brad McCown] and this race. Hopefully we put on one heck of a show for you guys,” said Chad Kemenah as he addressed the crowd.

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will return to competition in less than a week, revisiting Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Saturday, April 15, for the 2017 HD Supply Spring Nationals. “America’s Series” last visited the home of “Ohio’s Finest Racing” on Saturday, September 3, during the inaugural Dirt Classic Ohio. Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild scored the $10,000 top prize; the 13th Arctic Cat All Star victory of his career and his second-ever at Attica Raceway Park. The HD Supply Spring Nationals visit will go down in the books as the 113th total appearance at Attica Raceway Park by the Arctic Cat All Stars since their first visit on September 4, 1989.

HD Supply Spring Nationals gates are scheduled to open at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 15. Action will hit the speedway at 6:00pm, sharp, beginning with hot laps and qualifying time trials, followed by heat races and respective main events. David Gravel gets a Gator; wins Arctic Cat All Star DIRTcar Nationals finale at Volusia Speedway Park

BARBERVILLE, FL (February 16, 2017) - For the first time in his young career, Watertown, Connecticut’s David Gravel is a main event winner in the Sunshine State, capturing the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions DIRTcar Nationals finale at the Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida. The victory, the third of his career during Arctic Cat All Star competition and his first since 2012, was conducted in near-demanding fashion; holding back Donny Schatz and Brad Sweet to lead all 30 circuits around the Volusia Speedway Park half-mile.

“This is definitely awesome,” David Gravel stated in victory lane. “I’ve never got to win in Florida and I’ve never got to win one of these gator trophies, so this is definitely cool. I have to thank all of the guys on the team; Barry, Zack, Derrick, Chad, Jen. They all did a great job preparing these race cars all winter. All of my sponsors; they make all of this possible. We are working for really good things this year, so this is a great start to that.”

Gravel, who started on the outside-front row, wasted no time getting to the front of the field, taking command during the initial drop of the green flag and stretching his early advantage to a near-three second lead. Even with two cautions, traffic coming into play by lap 10, and an abrasive coat of rubber starting to form on the surface of the speedway by lap 15, the pilot of the CJB Motorsports/GoMuddy.com/Big Game Treestands/No. 5 continued to hold his advantage, navigating forward while keeping Donny Schatz at a distance.

“[Donny Schatz] is definitely the best, so anytime you have an opportunity to beat him is a great thing,” Gravel stated. “The rubber started to come into play, so I had a little bit of an advantage at the end of the race. I was trying not to miss my marks while racing through traffic. I wanted to take my time and make sure I didn’t slip my tires. Our tires just made it, so thank goodness for that.”

With his second place performance, Donny Schatz, pilot of the familiar Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Arctic Cat/No. 15, will end his Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Florida campaign with three victories and two runner-up finishes.

“We are happy with that,” Donny Schatz said regarding his Arctic Cat All Star performances in Florida. “The track kinda caught us off guard here tonight. I really didn’t expect it to take rubber like that, but it did, so it kinda set us up for a difficult second-half of the race. That’s the way it goes some days. This Arctic Cat team does a phenomenal job. I think we would rather have five victories during the last week, but who wouldn’t.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will enjoy a seven week hiatus before returning to competition on Saturday evening, April 8, at the Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio. “America’s Series” hosted competition at the southern Ohio highbanks on two separate occasions in 2016; once during Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket, and once again on October 22 during the Arctic Cat All Star championship weekend. NASCAR Cup star Kyle Larson earned the speedweek victory, with Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild taking high honors on championship weekend.

Donny Schatz holds back Kyle Larson for DIRTcar Nationals win against Arctic Cat All Stars

BARBERVILLE, FL (February 15, 2017) - For the third time in his last four attempts, and for the 16th time in his career, Donny Schatz is an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner, this time during night two of the 46th edition of the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park. The victory, a mere .113 second advantage at the final checkers, came over Elk Grove, California’s Kyle Larson; the main event’s 15th starter who charged to second in 30 circuits aboard a second Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing entry.

“This is all because of this race team,” Donny Schatz explained in Volusia Speedway Park victory lane. “I’ve been racing with these guys for a long time; Ricky [Warner] and I have been together for nearly 10 years. This is not something that is built overnight. They work their tails off and do an incredible job. We never fail to learn from our mistakes and I learn from mine. We have Mark Miller from Arctic Cat with us here tonight, so we want to wish him the best. We’re glad to have him here to see a victory. He missed a few last weekend, but this is a great way to start the new week.”

Chad Kemenah jumped to the early advantage from the outside of the front row, utilizing the very topside of the Volusia Speedway Park half-mile to officially lead lap one over pole sitter Donny Schatz and fourth starting Brad Sweet. By lap five, Kemenah’s advantage stretched to nearly three seconds, catching the tail of the field for the first time on lap six. Schatz allowed traffic to work to his advantage, slowly erasing all of Kemenah’s lead by lap ten and taking command for the first time on lap 14.

The main event’s first of two red flag incidents appeared on lap 17 involving Brownsburg, Indiana’s Joey Saldana and Eunice, Louisiana’s Jason Johnson, each racing in reach of a podium position at the time of the caution. Saldana and Johnson, who started sixth and tenth on the main event grid, commenced a three car battle for second with Chad Kemenah on lap 16, only to make contact the following circuit. Although unable to return to the speedway, Saldana and Johnson walked away unharmed.

Green flag action returned to the speedway for two circuits before the main event’s second and final red flag appeared on lap 20, this time for Myerstown, Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks. Like Saldana and Johnson, Marks walked away unharmed, but was unable to return to action.

A caution on lap 22 would halt the feature field for the final time, giving Donny Schatz an open track and clean air. In the meantime, Larson, aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/No. 14, was already in striking distance; taking advantage of all three cautions to inch himself forward to third in the running order. By lap 28, Larson moved by Chad Kemenah for second, resetting his focus toward the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Arctic Cat/Ford Performance/No. 15 of Donny Schatz.

“I couldn’t feel anybody coming. It’s not my job to pay attention to what is behind me,” Donny Schatz explained in victory lane. “Somebody had to be coming. That’s what racers do and Kyle [Larson] is a great racer. He’s an aggressive racer and that helped put him in the position that he was in. I know he’s driving a really good race car, so that obviously helps, too.”

With slower traffic blocking Schatz's momentum, one final lunge on lap 30 would put Kyle Larson on the back bumper of the North Dakota native, ultimately racing through the final corner nearly side-by-side. Schatz would hang on to win by .113 seconds, followed by Kyle Larson, Chad Kemenah, Daryn Pittman, and Brad Sweet.

“I was coming up on traffic and I couldn’t get off the top,” Schatz said. “I tried to slide the lapped car in the last corner, but he ended up finding some speed somewhere and kept himself going. That forced me to kinda go back to the top and park myself there.”

For Larson, it was his first-ever appearance at Volusia Speedway Park, as well as his first time in the cockpit of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/No. 14.

“Tonight was a lot of fun,” Kyle Larson explained. “I had a decent start and was able to get in line right away. I made up most of my time down the straightaways and was able to slide people through the corners, then get going back the other direction. That was the biggest key to me moving forward. I can’t thank Tony Stewart and everyone on this team enough. I called Tony today and told him I was going to put my seat in his car and race since Christopher Bell couldn’t make it. It all worked out great.”

Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their 2017 tour of the Sunshine State on Thursday evening, February 16, with the second of two DIRTcar Nationals programs at the Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida. “America’s Series” will once again battle for a $5,000 top prize during their Volusia County takeover; the fifth and final Florida appearance for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions in 2017.

Kerry Madsen stops the sweep at Bubba Raceway Park; wins Arctic Cat All Star Winter Nationals finale in Ocala, Florida

OCALA, FL (February 11, 2017) - In front of a near-standing room only turnout, “The Madman” Kerry Madsen ended all possibility for a “Schatz Sweep” during the Sixth Annual Winter Nationals at Bubba Raceway Park; driving around the Fargo, North Dakota, native with just six laps remaining to solidify his place on top of the feature podium. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory, his first podium finish of the Winter Nationals triple-header at Bubba Raceway Park, was the seventh of Madsen’s career, earning $5,000 in the process.

“This thing has been a rocket ship right from the drop of the gate,” Kerry Madsen explained, pilot of the GoMuddy.com/Big Game Treestands/No. 2M. “My guys, Guy and Nate, did a great job all winter prepping these race cars and getting everything set for Florida. It feels awesome to be this fast right from the start. We were so close on Thursday, so this definitely makes up for that. I can’t thank Todd and Luke enough for this opportunity. Hopefully they were tuned-in back in Minnesota and got to see this.”

Madsen never raced outside of the top-three the entire 30-lap distance, starting third initially and racing in that same position until just beyond the halfway signal. The St. Mary’s, New South Wales, Australia, native worked around the CJB Motorsports entry of David Gravel for second on lap 16, resetting his sights on back-to-back Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner Donny Schatz.

By lap 20, traffic started to intensify, allowing Madsen to cut away at Schatz’s one second advantage at the front of the field. The pair raced nearly nose-to-tail until Madsen made the winning move at the entrance of turn one on lap 24, taking command for the first time during the main event. Madsen would race ahead untouched the remaining distance, holding off a late charge by Donny Schatz and Tim Shaffer at the final checkers, each celebrating a third consecutive podium finish.

“We ended up cutting a tire somewhere around four or five laps to go in that race” Donny Schatz explained, pilot of the Tony Stewart Racing/Arctic Cat/No. 15. “My late model experience actually helped me get through those last five laps. I was able to keep the car straight and hang on to that position. It is a tough deal, but we’ll move on and try again at Volusia.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will enjoy three days in the Florida sun before returning to competition on Wednesday evening, February 15, at the Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida. “America’s Series” will take center stage at the Florida speed plant for two consecutive nights of competition; two of five total sprint car appearances during the 2017 DIRTcar Nationals schedule. The back-to-back Volusia Speedway Park appearances will each award $5,000 top prizes.

Donny Schatz doubles up in Ocala against Arctic Cat All Stars; scores night two of Winter Nationals at Bubba Raceway Park

OCALA, FL (February 10, 2017) - For the second time in as many days, Donny Schatz is an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner in Ocala, Florida; scoring night two of the Sixth Annual Winter Nationals at Bubba Raceway Park. Schatz, pilot of the Tony Stewart Racing/Arctic Cat/Ford Performance/No. 15, took command of the 30-lap feature program on lap 25, overtaking the “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer with an aggressive slide job nearing the exit of turn four. The Fargo, North Dakota, native scored $5,000 for his efforts, now increasing his career total to 15 against “America’s Series.”

“This is really cool,” Schatz said. “Every team in this pit area worked hard all winter long, but I have a group of guys that I thoroughly love racing with. They are like brothers that I never had, and to be able to get to victory lane is something we all want to do. It feels extra special to do that with Arctic Cat on board with our program.”

After a pair of cautions during the first two circuits, one of which during the initial start which resulted in a complete restart, the Winter Nationals main event officially commenced with Tim Shaffer taking control at the front of the field from the outside-pole position. Despite Shaffer’s attempt to drive away from fourth starting Donny Schatz, the eight-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion kept pace, never allowing Shaffer to escape on the open track, and eventually in traffic.

By lap 20, Schatz was on the back bumper of the Demyan-Rudzik Racing/No.49X, continuing his pursuit through traffic while repeatedly attempting to drive under Shaffer at the exit of turn four. A negated slide job attempt on lap 24 was followed by a successful slide job attempt on lap 25, allowing Schatz to officially take command for the first time.

Schatz drove on to score the four-digit payday, navigating through traffic along the bottom groove of the speedway for the remaining five circuits. Tim Shaffer followed in second, a second consecutive runner-up performance for the Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, native, followed by David Gravel, Kerry Madsen and Joey Saldana.

“Great race,” Schatz explained. “The track kinda threw me for a loop there at the start of that race. I kept trying to make the topside work in one and two. I’m not sure if it was wet, or my fuel load kept me too loose, but I couldn’t make it work. Eventually the track changed to work in our advantage. That race was fun, though; the whole race was fun.”

“We are getting close. Definitely feels good to be this competitive,” Tim Shaffer said. “Those Tony Stewart Racing guys are fast right now, no denying that. I guess anytime you can finish second behind Schatz is pretty good.”

The Sixth Annual Bubba Army Winter Nationals featuring the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude with a third and final program on Saturday evening, February 11. It will be the final Bubba Raceway Park appearance for the traveling Arctic Cat All Stars in 2017. The Winter Nationals finale will go 30 laps in distance, once again awarding a $5,000 top prize, as well as a full points toward the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star championship.

Donny Schatz wins wild Arctic Cat All Star season opener at Bubba Raceway Park,
Winter Nationals action continues Friday, February 10

OCALA, FL. (February 9, 2017) - Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz survived a wild ending on Thursday evening at Bubba Raceway Park; advancing two positions during the last two circuits, each while battling nearly nose-to-tail in heavy lapped traffic, to clinch the season’s first Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory. Schatz, the eight-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, advanced six positions during 30 non-stop laps to capture his 14th career Arctic Cat All Star victory. Tim Shaffer held on to finish just behind the pilot of the Tony Stewart Racing/Arctic Cat/Ford Performance/No. 15, followed by Kraig Kinser, Ian Madsen and Caleb Armstrong.

“Oh man, that was crazy,” said Donny Schatz. “I started to notice Kerry’s [Madsen] tire was really beginning to get low; almost down to the chords. I knew that I didn’t want to be above him at that point because when the right rear tire goes flat, the car tends to drift up the race track. When it blew, we just went to work on Shaffer. I didn’t have a lot of time, but he was racing a little too protective and I was able to set him up and get around him. I never give up and I never count us out, no matter where we are at on the race track.”

Donny Schatz commenced his campaign to the front of the field right from the drop of the initial green, eventually working forward from the inside of row four to a podium position by lap 15. By the time Schatz solidified himself third in the running order, Kerry Madsen was already in control, tailed closely by the “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer. All three drivers navigated traffic nose-to-nail for nearly ten circuits, each utilizing the bottom groove of the racing surface. Shaffer was strong enough to periodically make a bid for the top spot, but each time it was negated.

Unfortunately for Kerry Madsen, who took command officially on lap 13 aboard his GoMuddy.com/Big Game Treestands/No. 2M, disaster would strike in the form of a flat right rear tire with just two circuits remaining, caused by the rubbered-up racing surface that started to build along the bottom edge of Bubba Raceway Park. Without bringing out a caution, Madsen exited the speedway, surrendering his top spot to Tim Shaffer. Despite Shaffer’s attempt to race conservatively and protect the rubbered-up racing groove, Schatz continued to apply pressure, ultimately working around the Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, native on the final circuit to clinch the $5,000 payday.

“It feels really good to get it done here tonight, especially with Arctic Cat playing such a big role in our program now,” Schatz explained. “They are big supporters of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, and obviously big supporters of Tony Stewart Racing, so to win right out of the gate with this new deal is very special. Hopefully we can do this a few more times this weekend.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their Winter Nationals triple-header at Bubba Raceway Park on Friday evening, February 10. Identical to Thursday, “America’s Series” will showcase a complete program on Friday night, awarding $5,000 to the main event winner, as well as full points toward the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star championship.

It was Bloomington, Indiana’s Kraig Kinser who earned the Friday night victory at Bubba Raceway Park in 2016. The win was Kinser’s first of two during the season, eventually revisiting the top spot on the podium at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, during the I-79 Summer Shootout.

INDIANAPOLIS (December 14, 2016) - Formally announced during the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions celebration in Indianapolis on December 9, Arctic Cat, the official recreational vehicle supplier of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, will extend its partnership with the traveling 410ci sprint car circuit as the title sponsor through the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Arctic Cat’s inaugural season as the title sponsor in 2016 proved to be a success, fueling the decision to extend its relationship with one of America’s oldest traveling sprint car series.

“We are more than pleased to extend our relationship with the All Star Circuit of Champions for the next two seasons. 2016 proved to be beneficial for Arctic Cat, and I am confident that our continued involvement will only elevate Arctic Cat’s exposure and impact in the world of sprint car racing” Greg Williamson explained, Chief Marketing Officer of Arctic Cat. “All Star fans are hunters, fishermen, farmers, ranchers, outdoorsmen; these are the people most attracted to our products. The All Star Circuit of Champions will promote Arctic Cat during 50+ events in 2017, traveling to eight states throughout all areas of the Midwest, Northeast and East Coast. In routine fashion, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will activate the new year with a trip to Florida, headlining five events between February 9 and February 16 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala and Volusia Speedway Park near Daytona.

Arctic Cat will not only act as the title sponsor for the All Stars in 2017, but it will also play a major role during a select number of events throughout the season. Similar to 2016, local Arctic Cat dealers, positioned throughout the Northeast and Midwest, will set-up displays at select tracks allowing fans to interact with new products, ask questions to company representatives, as well as engage in ride-alongs and participate in special sales offers that may be conducted throughout the year. Arctic Cat will also award products at the year end championship banquet.
