Kraig Kinser Outduels Sheldon Haudenschild for I-79 Summer Shootout Victory at Tri-City Raceway Park

FRANKLIN, PA (July 31, 2016) - Bloomington, Indiana’s Kraig Kinser brought Western Pennsylvania race fans to their feet on Sunday night at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, outdueling Sheldon Haudenschild during the final two circuits of round two of the I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA to secure his place on top of the feature podium. Kinser, who started from the pole position, pressured Haudenschild on multiple occasions during the 30-lap main event, leading for a short stint on lap 22 before taking command again on lap 29, ultimately driving on to capture his second Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory of the 2016 season. Sheldon Haudenschild held on to finish second during the $5,000-to-win program, followed by Tim Shaffer, Brent Marks, and Cap Henry.

“It’s just me and Mikey, my brother-in-law, here tonight,” Kraig Kinser said in victory lane. “I can’t thank everyone enough who helps out this team: Arctic Cat, Mesilla Valley Transportation. I know I'm forgetting to mention a lot of people. I want to thank the fans for coming out tonight. It was a long day today and the weather didn’t make things any easier. Winning tonight made today all worth it.”

Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild took command during the initial start from the outside of row two, driving around the top three starters by the exit of turn two, eventually leading lap one over Kraig Kinser and Brent Marks. Haudenschild opened his advantage to a near-straightaway lead during certain segments of the first-half of the main event, surviving an early caution on lap six and two red flag incidents on lap 15 and lap 18.

Kraig Kinser, utilizing the very bottom of Tri-City Raceway Park’s half-mile, would catch a break on lap 22 when Haudenschild drove off of the banking in turn two, allowing Kinser to drive below the Southern Pacific Farms/Finzer Farms/No. 93 entry to officially lead the lap. Kinser controlled the pace until Haudenschild reclaimed the top spot on lap 23, driving back around Kinser at the exit of turn two. Haudenschild eventually returned to a lengthy advantage, maintaining his advantage even after entering traffic on lap 25.

By lap 27, traffic started to intensify for race leader Sheldon Haudenschild. Kinser chased Haudenschild through traffic, cutting down his advantage lap by lap. On lap 29, Kinser made his move, driving the Steve Kinser Racing/Arctic Cat/Mesilla Valley Transportation/No. 11K under Haudenschild at the exit of turn four. The former Knoxville Nationals champion made the winning pass stick, moving on to score the victory, his first ever at Tri-City Raceway Park, joining his father, Steve Kinser, on the track’s win list. Kraig Kinser now has four career Arctic Cat All Star victories to his credit.

“I thought I might have screwed things up a little bit there toward the middle of the race when I got by Sheldon the first time,” Kraig Kinser said. “I got the lead there and raced pretty hard with Sheldon (Haudenschild). We raced side-by-side coming out of four and I didn’t want to get into him, so I had to drive really low getting into one. Sheldon ended up driving back by me and I thought it was over at that point. I ended up getting through traffic really well with just a few laps left and was able to get back by him at the end. It was definitely a battle.”

The runner-up finish, his second of the weekend during I-79 Summer Shootout competition, increased Sheldon Haudenschild’s top-five count to 12 on the season with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

“Kraig and Mikey had a really good car tonight,” Sheldon Haudenschild explained. “He was there the whole race, ya know. I made a few mistakes to allow him to get by me, but I was able to get back around him. I thought I was going to be able to stay ahead of him. I was hoping the lapped cars would be in his line. Kraig was really good tonight. I’m happy for those guys. Two second places on the weekend is really good for us. We’ll move on to Knoxville and see what we can do.”

The 2016 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign will take a two weekend break before returning to competition on Thursday evening, August 18, at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania. The two week schedule break will give teams the opportunity to prepare and participate in the 56th Annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Many of the full-time Arctic Cat All Star travelers will be represented at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, chasing a starting position in the $150,000-to-win, Knoxville Nationals A-main.

The 2016 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions schedule will continue on Thursday through Sunday, August 18-21, with a four-race stretch through Central Pennsylvania and Upstate New York. “America’s Series” will visit Grandview Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and Lebanon Valley Speedway during their march eastward, each awarding a minimum of $5,000. The Lebanon Valley Speedway visit in West Lebanon, New York, will cap off the long weekend with a $7,000 grand prize.

Dale Blaney Opens I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA with Victory at Eriez Speedway, I-79 action continues Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway

HAMMETT, PA (July 29, 2016) - For the first time since June 19, the “Low Rider” Dale Blaney earned his place in Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory lane, this time at the Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania, during round one of the I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA. The Hartford, Ohio, native, who started third on the feature grid, took command of the 30-lap main event on lap 18, driving under race leader Sheldon Haudenschild at the exit of turn two to solidify a $5,000 payday. For Blaney, the victory was his sixth of the 2016 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions season, bumping his career win total to 133. It was the first All Star appearance at Eriez Speedway since 1981.

“It has been a while,” Dale Blaney explained. “It’s been a while since we’ve consistently run good. We got better every time we got on the race track tonight. We really didn’t qualify all that well, but we got better in the heat race, made some gains in the dash, and now we are up here. I knew we had a good car from the get-go. I can’t thank everyone enough: Big Game Treestands, Muddy, CH Motorsports with Janet Holbrook and Aaron Call, Todd Quiring out in Minnesota - they all play a huge role in this and I can’t thank them enough for this opportunity.”

Sheldon Haudenschild and Kraig Kinser led the 23 feature starters to green at Eriez Speedway on Friday, July 29. By the completion of lap one, Haudenschild had already established a clear advantage, utilizing his all-too-familiar top groove of the speedway. Dale Blaney settled himself into second, followed by outside polesitter Kraig Kinser. Those three would eventually create some separation, racing in that order until lap 15 when Kinser made contact with a lapped car causing the Bloomington, Indiana, native to get upside-down. Kinser walked away unharmed.

Green flag conditions returned to the speedway with Haudenschild still on the point, followed by Dale Blaney and now “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver, who moved forward from sixth on the grid. Despite a few attempts to work underneath Haudenschild during the first 15 circuits of the 30-lap main, Blaney made his first true bid for the top spot on lap 18, driving underneath Haudenschild as he slipped over the cushion between turns one and two. From that point, Blaney raced forward carefully; navigating traffic through the bottom and middle lanes of the speedway while still holding off challenges by Sheldon Haudenschild and Danny Holtgraver. Those three raced nearly nose to tail for several circuits until caution lights reappeared on the final lap, creating a green-white-checkered scenario. Unfortunately for Holtgraver, he was the victim, spinning at the entrance of turn one after making contact with a lapped car.

The first green-white-checkered attempt turned unsuccessful, leading to a second. Back-to-back two-lap shootouts proved to be no distraction for Dale Blaney, eventually rolling under the final checkers on top of the running order. Sheldon Haudenschild finished second, followed by Cap Henry, Cole Duncan, and Chad Kemenah.

“We really got things going during that A-main,” Blaney said. “I just had to be patient with my tires and get rolling around the bottom. Sheldon (Haudenschild) was working up the race track and I was keeping myself closer to the bottom. My car really came on when it needed to. (Haudenschild) got over the top early in the race, too, but I couldn’t really capitalize on it. I just kept pressing him and showed him my nose a few times. I wanted him to keep racing harder and harder and it worked out.”

The inaugural I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA featuring the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue on Saturday evening, July 30, with a visit to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial, Pennsylvania. “Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile” will showcase “America’s Series” for the 15th time in the track’s storied history on Saturday evening, awarding a $5,000 top prize, as well as points toward the $3,000, I-79 Summer Shootout championship point fund. Dale Blaney is the most recent Arctic Cat All Star to visit PPMS victory lane, earning top honors on August 2, 2015.

Rico Abreu Scores $12,500 for Dirt Classic Indiana Victory at Kokomo Speedway!

KOKOMO, IN (July 23, 2016) - Rico Abreu scored big on Saturday night at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, earning the inaugural Dirt Classic Indiana title worth $12,500 against Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Abreu took command officially on lap 24 of the 40-lap main event, using a textbook slide job to work beyond Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild. The victory, earned from the inside of row three, gives Abreu three on the season with the Arctic Cat All Stars, increasing his career total to five.

“I just want to thank all of the fans for coming out tonight,” Rico Abreu said. “There was a lot stuff going on in Indianapolis. For you guys to choose to come racing with us instead is really cool and we all really appreciate it. I gotta thank the Dirt Classic staff, Tony Stewart, and the All Stars for making this happen. We just really enjoy doing this. Even on the bad nights, we still really enjoy this, and we should, because we are all pretty lucky to just be out here racing.”

Lined up according to points accumulated on Friday and Saturday, Friday night’s Prelude to the Dirt Classic Indiana winner Christopher Bell and five-time Arctic Cat All Star winner Sheldon Haudenschild led the 24 feature starters to green. Haudenschild jumped to the early advantage, leading Bell and Rico Abreu at the completion of lap one. Unfortunately for Haudenschild, early momentum would cease with red flag conditions halting the field on lap two. Randy Hannagan, Bryan Clauson, and Kraig Kinser were all involved and unharmed.

After a caution on lap two for a spinning Tyler Courtney, green flags waved for a third time with Sheldon Haudenschild still in charge, once again followed by Christopher Bell and Rico Abreu. Abreu made a big bid for the runner-up spot on lap four and made it stick, using another one of his textbook slide jobs in turns one and two.

Meanwhile, Haudenschild continued to roll the very topside of the speedway, opening up his advantage by a near straightaway. Traffic started to come into play for the first time on lap nine, slowing some of Haudenschild’s momentum. Abreu tried to work traffic as quickly as he could, sliding two and three cars at a time, but still had trouble closing in on the Haudenschild Racing/No. 93 entry.

By lap 24, Abreu worked his way within reach of the top spot and capitalized, using a monster slider to work underneath Haudenschild for the lead in traffic. Once obtaining control, Abreu never stumbled, surviving the remaining 16 circuits, as well as two additional cautions, to earn himself a trip to Dirt Classic Indiana victory lane. The St. Helena, California, native navigated the very top-shelf of the speedway for the majority of his campaign at the front of the field, opening his advantage to a near straightaway even during traffic.

“I was pretty good everywhere here tonight,” Abreu explained. “I could run the top and I could run the bottom. I knew the bottom was going to slow down eventually so I decided to work my way up to the top. I thought I heard somebody working up on the outside of me. I just worried about getting to the top and staying smooth. I had so much fun here tonight. Kokomo always puts on a great race. I am very happy to win in a winged sprint car here.”

After a four car battle for the last two podium spots, Jamie Veal and Chad Kemenah emerged. Veal worked his way forward from fourth to finish second, scoring a second consecutive podium performance during the Dirt Classic Indiana doubleheader at Kokomo Speedway. Kemenah climbed from the outside of row three to finish third.

Up next on the 2016 schedule, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will return to the Keystone State for the I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA; a trio of events along the Interstate 79 corridor in Western Pennsylvania. “America’s Series” will visit three facilities during their three day campaign, each hosting a full, Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions program worth $5,000 to the main event winner. In addition, a $3,000 point fund will also be awarded to the weekend’s top racers.

The I-79 Summer Shootout presented by Classic Ink USA will take shape on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 29-31, beginning with action the the Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday night, July 29. Action will resume on Saturday, July 30, at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania, followed by a visit to the Tri-City Raceway Park near Franklin, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, July 31. It will be the final Western Pennsylvania appearance for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions in 2016.

Christopher Bell Earns Career First Arctic Cat All Star Victory During Prelude to the Dirt Classic Indiana

KOKOMO, IN (July 22, 2016) - For the first time in nearly ten years, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions invaded the famed Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, in an attempt to tame the Hoosier State’s “Baddest Bullring” during the inaugural Dirt Classic Indiana presented by Tony Stewart. The weekend doubleheader launched officially on Friday night, July 22, with 37 Arctic Cat All Star sprint cars making the call. When the dust settled, it was recent Tony Stewart Racing hired gun Christopher Bell at the top of the heap, leading all 35 laps on the Kokomo Speedway quarter-mile to score his first ever All Star victory worth $5,000. Rico Abreu finished just behind Bell, followed by Aussie invader Jamie Veal.

“It’s every kid’s dream to drive a race car for Tony Stewart. I’m just glad we were able to get it done tonight,” Bell explained in victory lane. “These guys gave me an awesome car tonight. It got a little tricky there in traffic because you really have to let up your momentum to figure out how to work around the drivers in front of you. I almost gave it away there at one point, but we were able to get by that and park ourselves in victory lane.”

Christopher Bell, piloting the Tony Stewart Racing/No. 14, jumped out to an early advantage ahead of recent Indianapolis 500 starter Bryan Clauson and Rico Abreu at the completion of lap one. After a pair of cautions, which halted action on lap two and lap three, green flag conditions would return with Christopher Bell maintaining his position at the front of the field. The Norman, Oklahoma, native extended his advantage quickly, using the very topside of the Kokomo quarter-mile. Even when traffic started to intensify, Bell kept his composure, moving to various parts of the surface to navigate traffic. At one point, Bell’s advantage stretched to nearly a straightaway.

Meanwhile, action for second, third, fourth, and fifth intensified. Bryan Clauson, Brady Bacon, Rico Abreu, and Chad Kemenah all battled continuously, utilizing slide jobs in turns one and two, as well as turns three and four, in an attempt to advance positions. By the time caution lights reappeared on lap 15, Bryan Clauson, who started on the outside of the front row, settled himself into the runner-up position, with Chad Kemenah, the main event’s fifth starter, just behind, each chasing Bell’s Tony Stewart Racing entry.

After the caution on lap 15, green flag conditions would return once again. Christopher Bell returned to the topside of the speedway, using clean air and an open track once again to his advantage. Bryan Clauson continued to chase the No. 14 from the runner-up spot, with Jamie Veal working his way forward from sixth to battle for third by lap 22. Veal’s campaign in third was eventually challenged and taken over by Rico Abreu, using a traditional Kokomo Speedway slide job.

Unfortunately for Bell, main event action would come to a stop three laps before the finish, this time for Bryan Clauson. Clauson, who was now racing hard with Rico Abreu for second in the running order, made contact with the turn four wall, sending the Matt Wood Racing/Cancer Treatment Centers of America/No. 17W entry for a ride, ultimately bringing out the red flag. Abreu would inherit second, just ahead of Jamie Veal.

Despite the distraction, Christopher Bell would keep control and lead the last three circuits to capture the $5,000 top prize, capping off a near clean sweep; qualifying sixth quick, winning his respective heat race, winning the dash, and dominating 35-lap main event.

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their Kokomo Speedway invasion on Saturday evening, July 23, with the Dirt Classic Indiana finale. The $12,500-to-win showcase will feature a unique, non-points format for the Arctic Cat All Stars, utilizing two sets of heat races, each accumulating points to help set the lineup for the evening’s main event. The Dirt Classic Indiana winner will take home the cash, as well as a golden ticket; receiving an automatic bid to start in the Dirt Classic Ohio main event at Attica Raceway Park over Labor Day weekend.

Kokomo Speedway pit gates will swing back open at 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, July 23. The Dirt Classic Indiana drivers meeting will begin at 6, followed by hot laps at 7. Danny Holtgraver Scores $10,000 during 8th Annual Lou Blaney Memorial
First ever Arctic Cat All Star victory at Sharon Speedway

HARTFORD, Ohio (July 9, 2016) - “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver scored the largest Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory of his career on Saturday night at Sharon Speedway, claiming the eighth annual Lou Blaney Memorial worth $10,000. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native led all 30 circuits at the Hartford, Ohio, oval, surviving a last restart bobble to eventually hold back fourth row starter Sheldon Haudenschild and Ohio veteran Dean Jacobs at the final checkers. Holtgraver now owns two Arctic Cat All Star wins in 2016, raising his career win total to 11.

“I had to keep things exciting I guess,” explained Danny Holtgraver regarding the main event’s last restart. “I didn’t quite get the restart that I wanted. I’m not sure if I was nervous, or just excited, but all that matters is we made it through it and got this one. This means so much to this team. I can’t thank everyone enough. These guys have been giving me some awesome race cars lately. I’m having so much fun.”

Danny Holtgraver started second on the main event grid, jumping to an early advantage over Josh Baughman and Caleb Griffith. After two cautions on lap two, one of which involving Josh Baughman with nose wing damage, green flag competition resumed with Holtgraver holding the point. The pilot of Pete Grove’s Premier Motorsports/No. 70 reached the tail of the field by lap five, navigating safely on the topside of the speedway before approaching even heavier traffic by lap ten. In the meantime, Dean Jacobs, who started fifth on the feature grid, worked his way into second on lap four, setting chase on Holtgraver’s Premier Motorsports entry. Despite the traffic, Jacobs never lost sight of the leader, keeping Holtgraver within a few car lengths until caution lights reappeared on lap 19.

Competition resumed with Holtgraver maintaining his position at the front of the field, flanked by Dean Jacobs and now Sheldon Haudenschild. Six more laps would be completed with the same running order, only to be stopped by caution lights on lap 25, setting up a clear track and clean air once again for Danny Holtgraver.

Not without a restart hiccup, nearly making contact with the front stretch wall, Holtgraver brought the field back to green for the final time of the night. Sheldon Haudenschild made a surge to second on lap 25, driving by Dean Jacobs who started to feel the effects of a damaged nose wing. Even after the stumble, clean air and a clear track proved to be an advantage for Holtgraver, driving on to secure $10,000 by nearly two seconds. It was his first ever Lou Blaney Memorial title and his first ever Arctic Cat All Star victory at Sharon Speedway.

“It was just a great night all together,” Holtgraver explained. “This team has been on a pretty good streak lately. Everything is really clicking and we’ve been getting more and more comfortable with each other. We’re having so much fun. That’s probably the most important part. The stress is gone and the pressure is gone. We can get to the track and just enjoy what we are doing. I can’t wait to try to do it again next weekend.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their 2016 campaign with an appearance at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. “America’s Series” will join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series during their appearance at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, taking part in the 33rd annual Kings Royal. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will officially join the Kings Royal agenda during the $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday night, July 16. The appearance will be worth show up points only. Shane Stewart is the defending event winner, scoring the $50,000 top prize over Jason Johnson and Rico Abreu a year ago.
