ORRVILLE, Ohio (September 2, 2019) - Nearly sweeping the entire evening program, Republic, Ohio’s Cap Henry left Wayne County Speedway on Monday evening $5,000 richer, finally etching his name in sprint car racing history as an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner. The driver of the Lane Racing/Beer Barrel Bourbon No. 4 accomplished his feat in exciting fashion, utilizing his pole position to lead all 30, non-stop circuits around Wayne County Speedway, all while holding off defending All Star Circuit of Champions title holder, Aaron Reutzel.

Impressive enough, Henry’s campaign at the front of the field was engulfed in slower traffic for much of the 30-lap distance. On top of that, the former All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year was forced to manhandle an ultra-fast, but tricky and choppy surface, nearly costing Henry his victory when steering issues became a factor in the final corner. In fact, Henry’s margin of victory over Reutzel was a mere 0.024 seconds.

Buddy Kofoid chased Reutzel and Henry to the final checkers, followed by Cory Eliason and Dean Jacobs.

“Man, this is awesome,” Cap Henry said in victory lane, who not only won the Rick Susong Memorial main event, but he also earned the fastest time during qualifying time trials, as well as victory during his respective dash. “I feel like we’ve been trying to do this for like ten years. I can’t thank the guys from Lane Racing enough. They work extremely hard and actually had to rebuild this car two weeks in a row after I crashed it. They are great to work for; a great team.”

Starting from the pole position, Henry set the pace early, instantly jumping out to a commanding lead over Aaron Reutzel, Greg Wilson and Buddy Kofoid. Lapped traffic entered the picture early with Henry reaching the back of the field with only six laps knocked off the scoreboard. Solidly in second at the time, Henry’s momentum downshift in traffic allowed Reutzel to close the gap, actually making a bid for the top spot on lap nine. The slider through turns one and two failed allowing Henry to escape into the distance.

By lap 15, Reutzel was pressuring Henry for the lead yet again, utilizing periods of even heavier traffic to chase down the former All Star full-timer. Despite running up on the leader, Henry seemed to find another gear, once again separating himself from the Clute, Texas-native in traffic.

Ten laps later, Reutzel was all over Henry one more time, this time battling nearly nose-to-tail as the lead pair diced through slower cars.

In the meantime, it was apparent that the rut that had formed between turns three and four was giving Henry some trouble. Lap after lap, Henry would hit the rut and find himself nearly losing his balance. Although Henry was able to power his way out of the near-mess, the final lap nearly proved otherwise.

As Henry drove into turn three for the final time, the rut at the bottom of the speedway struck again sending the familiar No. 4 up the track. Henry’s mishap was an opportunity for Reutzel, ultimately opening the bottom groove. In a desperate attempt to maintain the lead, Henry rocketed back down the track and drag raced Reutzel to the finish, actually making contact just before the flagstand. Suffice it to say, Henry came out victorious, finally kicking the All Star monkey off his back.

“When I hit that rut on the white flag lap, I messed the steering up. I felt bad about running Aaron (Reutzel) almost to the infield, but we wanted an All Star win and I wasn’t going to lift,” Cap Henry continued. “I kept trying to crash through that hole the entire race. That last lap, it about got me. I definitely panicked there.”

“He was able to maintain a nice pace the entire race,” Aaron Reutzel said of Cap Henry. “Lapped traffic wasn’t too bad for me, but there were a few cars that were trying to make it hard for us. I was just trying not to crash, honestly.”

Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their final month of competition with another round in Pennsylvania Posse Country, this time joining the best local competitors in the business for three straight nights on Thursday through Saturday, September 5-7. Action will commence on Thursday evening, September 5, at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania. The traveling All Stars were scheduled to appear at Bedford earlier in the season but Mother Nature had other plans.

The three-day weekend will conclude with the highest paying event on the 2019 All Star Circuit of Champions schedule: the 52nd Annual Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. The Central Pennsylvania showstopper will kick-off, officially, on Friday, September 6, with the Night Before The 50 program awarding a $5,000 top prize. The 52nd running of the Tuscarora 50 will follow on Saturday, September 7, awarding a $52,000 top prize.

ATTICA, Ohio (August 31, 2019) - Taking into consideration his Friday night performance that resulted in a fourth place finish after starting 11th on the main event grid, it was apparent that Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss was going to be a major contender during Saturday’s Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by Racing Optics finale at Attica Raceway Park.

Fact of the matter is, Zearfoss was not a contender, but a winner, eventually leading the final 12 circuits to score the $10,000 top prize, the largest payday of his career, as well as the coveted Brad Doty Classic championship helmet.

The victory, accomplished over a pair of Friday night podium finishers consisting of Tim Shaffer and Buddy Kofoid, raised Zearfoss’ Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory count to three on the season; his first in Ohio and his first since mid-July at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, New York. The ‘Steel City Outlaw’ Tim Shaffer ended up chasing Zearfoss to the final checkers, followed by Penngrove, California’s Buddy Kofoid.

Using his performance to reclaim the top spot in the All Star title chase, Hartford, Ohio’s Dale Blaney finished fourth on Saturday night with Parker Price-Miller claiming the final spot in the top five.

“This is badass,” Brock Zearfoss said in Attica Raceway Park victory lane, pilot of the Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Meckley's Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/No. 70 sprint car. “I’ve been telling Brad (Doty) that I’ve wanted to come out to his race for the last three or four years, but this year we finally had the chance to do it. I’m just thankful Tony Stewart and the All Stars were able to put this deal together with Brad’s help. My guys, Shane and Tye, gave me an awesome race car the last two nights. What an honor to win this.”

Despite escaping to a comfortable command during the final 12 circuits, the trip to the top of the podium was challenging for the ‘Jonestown Jet,’ forced to battle, as well as exchange the top spot, with defending All Star Circuit of Champions titleholder, Aaron Reutzel, on back-to-back occurrences during laps 26 and 27.

Zearfoss took charge over Reutzel for the first time on lap 26, utilizing a slick move through the center of turns three and four. Not willing to give up, Reutzel retaliated in a hurry, soon driving back by Zearfoss the following circuit. Unfortunately for Reutzel, caution flags waved two laps later at his expense, this time for an obvious mechanical issue, as the car slowed to a stop in turns one and two. Reutzel’s misfortune proved to be a benefit for Zearfoss, now inheriting the top spot over Buddy Kofoid and Tim Shaffer.

Starting fourth on the 40-lap grid, Zearfoss battled within the top-five the entire distance, bouncing back and forth between third and fourth during the first 20 laps. Lap 23 served as the benchmark for Zearfoss’ first, true challenge for the top spot, first driving under Kofoid through turns three and four to take second, all before the aforementioned lead change with Reutzel on lap 26.

“We were able to start a little bit closer to the front tonight and it all went our way,” Brock Zearfoss continued. “Things got pretty tight there in traffic with Aaron (Reutzel) and we may have touched a little bit, but that’s just racing sometimes. You have to go after it. I’m not sure what happened to him, but I saw that he slowed up. Like I said, things just went our way.”

Labor Day weekend will continue for Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions on Sunday and Monday, September 1 & 2, with a two-day visit to ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ - Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. The annual Pete Jacobs Memorial will headline the two-race appearance on Sunday, September 1, awarding a $12,000 top prize; the Monday night, Labor Day weekend finale will award a $5,000 top prize.

Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, will open pit gates at 3 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, September 1 & 2. A drivers meeting will take shape at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, as well as at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hot laps are scheduled to hit the racing surface at 6 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. ATTICA, Ohio (August 30, 2019) - Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel is certainly no stranger to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory lane, but his trip to the top of the podium on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park was just as dramatic as it was last minute, utilizing a restart with three laps remaining to steal the victory from race-long leader and California hotshot, Buddy Kofoid.

For Reutzel, the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by Racing Optics opening night victory was valuable not only short term, earning $5,000 for his efforts, but it was also valuable long term, as the defending All Star titleholder reclaimed the championship point lead by two markers over Hartford, Ohio’s Dale Blaney. Reutzel’s win bumped his count to a staggering ten on the season, now with two at Attica Raceway Park in 2019.

Also using the late-race restart to his advantage, the ‘Steel City Outlaw’ Tim Shaffer chased Aaron Reutzel to the final checkers, followed by Buddy Kofoid, Brock Zearfoss and Cap Henry.

“It’s nice to get a win. We’ve been having either really good luck, or really bad luck; no in between,” Aaron Reutzel expressed in victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/Nattress Construction/No. 87 sprint car. “It was a great night for all of my guys. It was nice to close back in on the points. Dale (Blaney) and I have been going back and forth a lot this year in the points. I just want to get the lead and set sail. Dale is a seasoned veteran at this stuff and probably takes the stress a little bit better than I do.”

Starting fourth on the evening grid, Reutzel was not a major contender until late in the 40-lapper. Battling early with Republic, Ohio’s Cap Henry, the pair exchanged the runner-up spot nearly five times before Reutzel finally settled into second on lap 28.

While Henry and Reutzel battled in the background, Buddy Kofoid was in control. The Ed Neumeister Racing ace took off from the pole position and maintained a blistering pace on the topside of the speedway. An early reg flag incident on lap eight, followed by a pair of cautions on lap 13 and lap 17, were Kofoid’s only distractions during the first half of the 40-lap program.
A long green flag segment after the lap 17 caution eventually led the front-runners to lapped traffic. Despite Kofoid’s torrid pace on top, getting by the slower cars became a challenge, ultimately allowing Cap Henry and Aaron Reutzel to track down the youngster.

On lap 28, executing a bold slider between turns three and four, Reutzel drove by Henry for second, next setting aim on the No. 11N of Kofoid. As the laps clicked down, so did Kofoid’s command, nearly losing the top spot to Reutzel when the Texan attempted a slide job in turns one and two on lap 37. Although the attempt failed, yellow flags waved shortly thereafter giving Kofoid the breather that he needed, or so he thought.

It turns out that the ensuing restart with three laps to go was just what Reutzel needed, sticking himself between the bottom edge and a blocking Kofoid as the pair battled through turns one and two.

“I was going to try to get a run on the top, but he blocked the top,” Aaron Reutzel said. “I really thought he was going to take off earlier than that and not leave us anything, but he waited a long time to take off. I knew if we had any chance, that’s when it was going to be. I think he knew he made a little bit of a mistake and tried to block it, but he left the door open just enough. We had a great race car. That late caution is what won us the race.”

The final caution also allowed Tim Shaffer the opportunity to drive by Kofoid to claim second. It was the Aliquippa-native’s first night in the Ron Gorby-owned/Howard Johnson of Lima/No. G1.

“We’re still learning the car,” Tim Shaffer said of his new opportunity, who started fifth on the grid. “Early on in that race, I just couldn’t get the wing back enough. The track was so tight on the right rear. It finally slicked up to where I could get the wing back and get a little more leverage getting into the corner. That last restart, I think I had a shot at (Reutzel) but I missed the bottom. It’s a great night and a great job for all of us.”

“My motor didn’t take off there on that last restart,” Buddy Kofoid explained. “I guess I just need to do my job better on restarts. I really wasn’t challenged on the restarts before that one. I’m just glad to finish in a podium spot.”

Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by Racing Optics competition will continue at Attica Raceway Park on Saturday, August 31. Although the scenery will be the same, the stakes will be higher, as the two-day finale will award a $10,000 top prize, officially concluding Attica’s 32nd season of action.

YORK HAVEN, Pa. (August 25, 2019) - Utilizing ‘home field advantage,’ New Oxford, Pennsylvania’s Gerard McIntrye capped an incredible weekend for the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 and earned the ‘Salute to the Troops’ victory at BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday evening, August 25, eventually leading all 30 circuits of the $5,000-to-win program and securing his first Series victory of the 2019 season.

The win, a second-ever during All Star competition for the pilot of the Northeast Foundation and Concrete/Water Treatment By Design/No. 07 sprint car, did not come without a challenge, forced with withstand nearly 20 laps of constant pressure from six-time Series champion and all-time Series win leader, Dale Blaney.

On an even bigger note for All Star enthusiasts, the BAPS Motor Speedway triumph bumped the weekend score to 4-1 in favor of Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions; Grandview Speedway, the first Williams Grove Speedway ‘Jack Gunn Memorial’ feature, Lincoln Speedway, and BAPS Motor Speedway all accomplished by full-time All Stars.

“The guys did a great job tonight. I just did what I needed to do to get this thing to victory lane,” said Gerard McIntrye in BAPS Motor Speedway victory lane. “A big thanks to all of those guys for running me clean. I could hear Dale (Blaney) on the outside of me a couple of times. I tried to change my line up a few times so those guys didn’t know where I was going. It all worked out and I’m glad to be here.”

A red flag incident involving pole-sitter, Justin Peck, on the opening circuit, followed by multiple rule infractions resulting in the disqualification of Danny Dietrich, Anthony Macri, Lance Dewease, Ryan Smith and Skylar Gee, allowed McIntyre the opportunity to restart on the front row. The opportunity played into McIntyre’s favor, jumping to an early lead with Cory Eliason, Dale Blaney, Aaron Reutzel and Tony Stewart in tow.

With G-Mac in command, it was Blaney who was making the early moves. The Hartford, Ohio-native slipped into second by lap five, next setting aim on the familiar No. 07 of McIntyre. Lap after lap, Blaney attempted to drive by G-Mac, only to be denied at the exit of each corner. A trio of cautions, including a second red flag incident for Series point leader, Aaron Reutzel, on lap 19, halted the feature pace, and although Blaney restarted well, G-Mac survived and continued to lead the way.

In an attempt to execute a perfect last-ditch effort, Blaney chased McIntyre beyond the flagstand and drove into turn one as hard as he could, nearly pulling even as the pair reached the apex of the corner. A drag race down the backstretch ensued, followed by McIntrye diving into turn three and Blaney returning to the topside. Despite the bold attempt, Blaney did not have enough, losing by a margin of victory equalling .0183 seconds.

“Gerard ran a really great race,” Dale Blaney said, driver of the McGhee Motorsports No. 11 who is now back in charge of the Series' championship standings. “The guys gave me a great car. A second the last two nights in Central PA isn’t bad. I would have liked to get one of these out here though.”

Freddie Rahmer, who won the evening’s B-main, blasted ahead 16 positions to secure a third place finish at the final checkers, followed by Brock Zearfoss and Paul McMahan.

Tony Stewart’s All Stars will now turn their attention back to the Buckeye State, ready to headline four events in four days at two different facilities. Action will launch with two nights at Attica Raceway Park in Attica on Friday and Saturday, August 30 & 31, followed by back-to-back appearances at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville on Sunday and Monday, September 1 & 2.

Competition will be high, but so will the paydays, as Attica Raceway Park will award a total winner’s share equalling $15,000 over the course of the two-day visit; $5,000 on Friday, followed by the $10,000-to-win Brad Doty Classic on Saturday.

Wayne County Speedway will also award hefty top prizes over Labor Day weekend beginning with the $12,000-to-win Pete Jacobs Memorial on Sunday, followed by the Rick Susong Memorial worth $5,000 on Monday.

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (August 24, 2019) - Earning a first-ever Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory is certainly special, but to attain that feat in the heart of Pennsylvania Posse Country is on an entirely different level, especially with MAVTV Motorsports Network cameras on the prowl.

Leduc, Alberta, Canada’s Skylar Gee reached that level on Saturday night in the Pigeon Hills, eventually dominating All Star Circuit of Champions feature competition at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway by leading all 30 circuits, doing so from the pole position.

Not only did Gee lead every lap, but the All Star Rookie of the Year contender did it in incredible fashion, ultimately crossing under the final checkers by a margin of victory surpassing two seconds. Impressive enough, Gee’s lead reached nearly three seconds by the midpoint of the program, but a caution on lap 17 knocked his wicked pace back to idle.

Six-time All Star champion and all-time Series win leader, Dale Blaney, chased Gee to the finish, followed by Ryan Smith, Adam Wilt and Jeff Halligan.

“Hats off to my team. They gave me one hell of a race car tonight,” said Skylar Gee in victory lane, who nearly swept the program by setting fast time, winning the dash, and finally, winning the $5,000 main event. “This was a fun race track. I can’t wait to come back here.”

With six cautions, including an unforeseen fuel stop on lap four, cutting-up the 30-lapper, the only real challenges for Gee were the multiple restarts. In fact, the third generation ace was forced to survive two complete restarts before getting underway, officially.

A tap against the turn four, outside retaining wall gave Gee a stir on lap 22, ultimately trimming his near-three second command over Blaney to a single second. Despite the fact, Blaney was unable to capitalize. Even when a lapped car blocked Gee’s preferred top lane in the final corner, nobody was present to potentially overtake. The ASCS graduate did not falter, however, and simply dived through the corner to set-up a straight shot at the flagstand.

“I’m looking at the board and I’m seeing Dale Blaney and the 72 [Ryan Smith] and I think ‘I better get going here,’” Gee continued, pilot of the Moto Gator/Raw Machinery/Carlan Services/No. 99 sprint car. “I just kept trying to change it up and plan my starts right; I think I did a pretty good job of that. It really hasn’t sunk in yet. I really don’t know what to say.”

Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops event at BAPS Motor Speedway will conclude the All Star weekend road trip on Sunday evening, August 25. Like the events at Grandview Speedway and Lincoln Speedway, the Sunday night showstopper will award a $5,000 payday.

BAPS Motor Speedway near York Haven, Pennsylvania, will open pit gates at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 25. A mandatory All Star Circuit of Champions drivers meeting will be conducted at 5:45 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6:15 p.m., sharp. BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. (August 22, 2019) - For the second consecutive season, and with MAVTV Motorsports Network cameras rolling, Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel earned his way into Grandview Speedway victory lane, only this time etching his name even deeper into sprint car history by becoming the first name added to the illustrious Hodnett Cup. Set to be a signature award when the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 visit the Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, oval, the Hodnett Cup will be decorated year by year, as each winner’s name will be added for all to see.

Reutzel, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/No. 87 sprint car, led all 35 circuits on Thursday night at Grandview Speedway, forced to survive a heavyweight bout in traffic to secure his Series-leading eighth All Star victory of the 2019 season. In addition, the Grandview Speedway triumph also allowed the defending All Star Circuit of Champions titleholder to reclaim the championship points lead, now with a two point advantage over six-time Series champion, Dale Blaney.

Before Reutzel could march his way to victory against the infamous Pennsylvania Posse, Mother Nature intervened just after qualifying resulting in a lengthy delay. Suffice it to say, track and Series officials held their ground and allowed the weather to pass.

“I just want to thank all of the fans, as well as all of the officials for sticking this one out and not throwing in the towel. We all really appreciate their efforts,” Aaron Reutzel said in victory lane. “It was definitely a hard call to make, but I’m glad they did it. The track was really fast tonight because of the rain. We were really lucky to draw the one [during dash redraw]. That was a pretty big deal.”

Despite starting from the pole position and earning the initial jump, the path to victory was not paved easy for Reutzel. After a pair of cautions, one resulting in red flag conditions, disturbed competition during the first six circuits, a long green followed, thus creating periods of dense traffic around the Grandview bullring.

As traffic started to intensify, so did the pressure on Reutzel for the lead. By lap 20, Paul McMahan, who battled in the second position the entire distance up until that point, was all over Reutzel for the top spot. Danny Dietrich, a 13-time winner in 2019, soon threw his hat into the ring creating a three-car battle for the lead. The lead trio raced nearly nose to tail until a yellow sign of relief waved for Reutzel on lap 27. The caution allowed Reutzel to restart in clean air, and that is where he dominated.

Paul McMahan held on to finish second at the final checkers, followed by Danny Dietrich, Ryan Smith and Ryan Taylor.

“There were a lot of lapped cars that were not cooperating,” Aaron Reutzel explained. “In clean air I was really good, but in dirty air I struggled a little bit. Hats off to my guys. Night in and night out, they bust their butts and it really shows.”

Fans will have the opportunity to relive the action from Grandview Speedway on MAVTV Motorsports Network on October 13.

Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, will host the All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday evening, August 23. Headlining a monster program at the world-famous half-mile, the annual Jack Gunn Memorial will be the main attraction at Williams Grove Speedway featuring a pair of 20-lap main events, each awarding a $4,000 top prize. The A-main finish of the first 20-lapper will help set the field for the second 20-lapper; a pill draw conducted at the conclusion of the first feature will determine the number of cars inverted for the start of the second.

Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, will open pit gates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23.
