Skylar Gee dominates Lincoln Speedway for first-ever All Star victory; Series up 3-1 over Posse with one event remaining
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (August 24, 2019) - Earning a first-ever Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory is certainly special, but to attain that feat in the heart of Pennsylvania Posse Country is on an entirely different level, especially with MAVTV Motorsports Network cameras on the prowl.
Leduc, Alberta, Canada’s Skylar Gee reached that level on Saturday night in the Pigeon Hills, eventually dominating All Star Circuit of Champions feature competition at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway by leading all 30 circuits, doing so from the pole position.
Not only did Gee lead every lap, but the All Star Rookie of the Year contender did it in incredible fashion, ultimately crossing under the final checkers by a margin of victory surpassing two seconds. Impressive enough, Gee’s lead reached nearly three seconds by the midpoint of the program, but a caution on lap 17 knocked his wicked pace back to idle.
Six-time All Star champion and all-time Series win leader, Dale Blaney, chased Gee to the finish, followed by Ryan Smith, Adam Wilt and Jeff Halligan.
“Hats off to my team. They gave me one hell of a race car tonight,” said Skylar Gee in victory lane, who nearly swept the program by setting fast time, winning the dash, and finally, winning the $5,000 main event. “This was a fun race track. I can’t wait to come back here.”
With six cautions, including an unforeseen fuel stop on lap four, cutting-up the 30-lapper, the only real challenges for Gee were the multiple restarts. In fact, the third generation ace was forced to survive two complete restarts before getting underway, officially.
A tap against the turn four, outside retaining wall gave Gee a stir on lap 22, ultimately trimming his near-three second command over Blaney to a single second. Despite the fact, Blaney was unable to capitalize. Even when a lapped car blocked Gee’s preferred top lane in the final corner, nobody was present to potentially overtake. The ASCS graduate did not falter, however, and simply dived through the corner to set-up a straight shot at the flagstand.
“I’m looking at the board and I’m seeing Dale Blaney and the 72 [Ryan Smith] and I think ‘I better get going here,’” Gee continued, pilot of the Moto Gator/Raw Machinery/Carlan Services/No. 99 sprint car. “I just kept trying to change it up and plan my starts right; I think I did a pretty good job of that. It really hasn’t sunk in yet. I really don’t know what to say.”

Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops event at BAPS Motor Speedway will conclude the All Star weekend road trip on Sunday evening, August 25. Like the events at Grandview Speedway and Lincoln Speedway, the Sunday night showstopper will award a $5,000 payday.
BAPS Motor Speedway near York Haven, Pennsylvania, will open pit gates at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 25. A mandatory All Star Circuit of Champions drivers meeting will be conducted at 5:45 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6:15 p.m., sharp. Aaron Reutzel leads All Stars to victory during Jack Gunn Memorial at Williams Grove Speedway; Dewease gets redemption during second 20-lapper
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (August 23, 2019) - For the first time in Series history, the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 defeated the Pennsylvania Posse at Williams Grove Speedway, doing so in dramatic fashion during the first of two Jack Gunn Memorial, 20-lap main events on Friday night, August 23.
Aaron Reutzel, the defending All Star Circuit of Champions titleholder, as well as the current Series point leader and season win leader, led the charge from the pole position during the first 20-lapper at the world-famous half-mile, securing his place in Williams Grove Speedway history books by leading all 20 circuits, all while holding off the track’s all-time win leader and six-time champion, Lance Dewease. In addition, Reutzel’s $4,000 victory snapped a 35-race winless streak at The Grove for Tony Stewart’s All Stars, a stretch that dates back to 1970.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for an All Star win,” an ecstatic Aaron Reutzel said in victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/No. 87 sprint car. “I think this goes to show how tough it is here and how hard it is to win here. I said it yesterday - we beat the Posse at Grandview, but I don’t think you actually ‘beat the Posse’ until you do it at Williams Grove. It’s pretty special to come in here and do that.”
Despite starting from the pole position, it was a hard-fought 20 laps for the Clute, Texas-native, forced to battle wheel-to-wheel and wing-to-wing with Lance Dewease during much of the second-half of the main event. Things only intensified as lap traffic increased, and by the time the leaders hit halfway, the lapped cars were stacked two and three wide.
Although Dewease and Paul McMahan, who battled in the runner-up spot until Dewease drove by the Nashville-native on lap 11, kept tabs on Reutzel in traffic, it was not until lap 14 when Reutzel received his first threatening challenge.
Attempting to utilize a slider between turns one and two, Dewease did his best to take control over Reutzel, only to be denied by the defending champion a half-lap later at the exit of turn four.
Despite being out-drove during the first Jack Gunn Memorial main event at Williams Grove Speedway, it did not take long for Fayetteville’s Lance Dewease to find his way back to All Star Circuit of Champions victory lane, ultimately winning the second of two $4,000 paydays and bumping his Williams Grove Speedway win count to 97. Impressive enough, Dewease now owns 39 All Star victories, eight of which accomplished at the Cumberland County paperclip.
“We just keep plugging away with this race car,” Lance Dewease expressed, driver of the Don Kreitz, Jr.-owned/Schannauer Plumbing and Heating/Hess Iron/No. 69K sprint car. “The guys have been working hard since Knoxville. We weren’t too happy with how things ended out there, but we were pretty good all night tonight. I think I may have been a little too timid during the first feature, but I was able to be a little more aggressive during the second.”
By virtue of a six-position inversion draw, Lance Dewease started fifth on the second Jack Gunn Memorial main event grid. Although it took six circuits for Dewease to advance his first position, it was smooth sailing from that point forward. Just one circuit later, Dewease was able to drive by Adam Wilt for third, next setting aim on Ryan Smith and race-long leader, Kyle Moody.
By lap 12, Dewease was all over Smith for second, eventually taking the spot before the pair got back to the flagstand. It would only take Dewease two more laps to solidify his place at the top of the running order, the result of a massive dive into corner number three to get by Moody on lap 14.
“That’s my favorite corner around this place,” Lance Dewease said about turn three and four. “We can do that stuff pretty good when we are right.”
Ryan Smith drove by Moody to steal second before the final checkers, followed by Moody, Adam Wilt and Chad Trout.
Fans should note that the Jack Gunn Memorial will be aired on MAVTV Motorsports Network on October 20.
The ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, will have their fair share of All Star competition on Saturday evening, August 24. Similar to their visit to Grandview two nights prior, the All Stars will chase a $5,000 winner’s share in the Pigeon Hills.

AARON REUTZEL ROMPS IN THE RAIN FOR HODNETT CUP TRIUMPH, MIKE GULAR POCKETS $3,000 FOR MODIFIED CHECKERED FLAG AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLES, PA (August 22, 2019) – It was a wet and wild night of racing at Grandview Speedway on Thursday night, as Levan Machine and Truck Equipment presented the Inaugural Hodnett Cup as part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. Aaron Reutzel was the winner of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions feature earning $5,000 as Mike Gular won the NASCAR 358 Modified main event.
An unexpected rainstorm popped up just after All Star Sprint Car time trials, delaying the action for nearly 2 hours. Track crews worked vigorously, and with the help of drivers and teams, heat race events rolled out just before 10 PM. With a good crowd on hand everyone was determined to make every effort to get the show in and they did.
“We just want to race,” Reutzel said graciously thanking everyone during victory lane ceremonies. “I can’t thank the fans and the track team enough. We were lucky – and some days I’d rather be lucky than good.”
Luck was definitely on Reutzel’s side, starting the 35-lap event from the front row alongside Nashville, TN’s Paul McMahan. McMahan attempted to slide in front of Reutzel on the initial green flag start – but couldn’t complete the pass.
“I’m just glad I was able to get out in front of Paul,” Reutzel explained. “If he was able to get me at the beginning this would’ve turned out differently.”
Reutzel powered away to full straight-a-way lead, while Danny Dietrich, Ryan Smith, and Ryan Taylor battled for the third position.
With drivers settling in on an ultra-fast race track, lapped cars proved to a real challenge for Reutzel, a Clute, TX-native – closing the gap between him and McMahan, as laps clicked away.
“The lapped cars weren’t really cooperating with me today,” Reutzel offered in victory lane. “The track was fast and that was challenging.”
While McMahan, aboard the No. 13 machine, was able to lessen the leader’s advantage, he would pressure Reutzel, but couldn’t get close enough to really challenge.
The yellow flag flew for the final time on lap 26 – a huge benefit to Reutzel – who charged on to claim his second consecutive NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill All Star Sprint Car victory. Reutzel earned $5,000 for his efforts and added his name to the Hodnett Cup.
McMahan settled for the second position, Danny Dietrich finished in third, Ryan Smith finished in fourth, and Ryan Taylor rounded out the top five.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Sprint Car Heats were swept by Pennsylvania drivers Ryan Taylor, Brock Zearfoss and Danny Dietrich. Aaron Reutzel set the quick time with 23 cars signing in for action.
Mike Gular of Harleysville, PA picked up the $3,000 win in the NASCAR 358 portion of the evening’s event.
Dylan Swinhart and Alex Yankowski made up the front row of the 30 lap feature event – but it was Gular who took the lead heading down the backstretch of the one-third-mile dirt track, with Duane Howard moving into the second position just one circuit later.
Gular and Howard dueled for the top spot for the first half of the event, before a lap 16 yellow flag slowed the action and reset the field.
A three-car battle for the win between Gular, Howard, and Jeff Strunk brought the event down to the wire.
Door-to-Door drag racing to the checkered flag, Gular picked up the win with Howard in second, Jeff Strunk in third, Craig VonDohren in fourth and Jared Umbenhauer in the fifth position.
Modified Heat races were won by Doug Manmiller, Jeff Strunk, and Dylan Swinehart. 29 NASCAR 358 Modifieds were signed in to compete.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns on Saturday, October 19 with the Modifieds in a Big Block and Small Block Showdown, Sportsman, and MASS 305 Sprint Cars.

Aaron Reutzel leads all 35 to become first name etched on Grandview Speedway’s Hodnett Cup, reclaims Series point lead
BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. (August 22, 2019) - For the second consecutive season, and with MAVTV Motorsports Network cameras rolling, Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel earned his way into Grandview Speedway victory lane, only this time etching his name even deeper into sprint car history by becoming the first name added to the illustrious Hodnett Cup. Set to be a signature award when the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 visit the Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, oval, the Hodnett Cup will be decorated year by year, as each winner’s name will be added for all to see.
Reutzel, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/No. 87 sprint car, led all 35 circuits on Thursday night at Grandview Speedway, forced to survive a heavyweight bout in traffic to secure his Series-leading eighth All Star victory of the 2019 season. In addition, the Grandview Speedway triumph also allowed the defending All Star Circuit of Champions titleholder to reclaim the championship points lead, now with a two point advantage over six-time Series champion, Dale Blaney.
Before Reutzel could march his way to victory against the infamous Pennsylvania Posse, Mother Nature intervened just after qualifying resulting in a lengthy delay. Suffice it to say, track and Series officials held their ground and allowed the weather to pass.
“I just want to thank all of the fans, as well as all of the officials for sticking this one out and not throwing in the towel. We all really appreciate their efforts,” Aaron Reutzel said in victory lane. “It was definitely a hard call to make, but I’m glad they did it. The track was really fast tonight because of the rain. We were really lucky to draw the one [during dash redraw]. That was a pretty big deal.”
Despite starting from the pole position and earning the initial jump, the path to victory was not paved easy for Reutzel. After a pair of cautions, one resulting in red flag conditions, disturbed competition during the first six circuits, a long green followed, thus creating periods of dense traffic around the Grandview bullring.
As traffic started to intensify, so did the pressure on Reutzel for the lead. By lap 20, Paul McMahan, who battled in the second position the entire distance up until that point, was all over Reutzel for the top spot. Danny Dietrich, a 13-time winner in 2019, soon threw his hat into the ring creating a three-car battle for the lead. The lead trio raced nearly nose to tail until a yellow sign of relief waved for Reutzel on lap 27. The caution allowed Reutzel to restart in clean air, and that is where he dominated.
Paul McMahan held on to finish second at the final checkers, followed by Danny Dietrich, Ryan Smith and Ryan Taylor.
“There were a lot of lapped cars that were not cooperating,” Aaron Reutzel explained. “In clean air I was really good, but in dirty air I struggled a little bit. Hats off to my guys. Night in and night out, they bust their butts and it really shows.”
Fans will have the opportunity to relive the action from Grandview Speedway on MAVTV Motorsports Network on October 13.
Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, will host the All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday evening, August 23. Headlining a monster program at the world-famous half-mile, the annual Jack Gunn Memorial will be the main attraction at Williams Grove Speedway featuring a pair of 20-lap main events, each awarding a $4,000 top prize. The A-main finish of the first 20-lapper will help set the field for the second 20-lapper; a pill draw conducted at the conclusion of the first feature will determine the number of cars inverted for the start of the second.
Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, will open pit gates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23. BECHTELSVILLE, PA – Tony Stewart’s Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car series will invade the Grandview Speedway Thursday night, August 22 joining the NASCAR Modifieds in this always popular Double Header. This event is part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series celebrating its’ thirtieth season at the one-third mile high banked oval. Event sponsor, Levan Machine and Truck Equipment out of Fleetwood, PA will be a big part of the event festivities.
A heated point chase is underway for the All Star Circuit of Champions title with Dale Blaney of Hartford, OH holding a ten point advantage over Aaron Reutzel of Clute, TX. Reutzel is the defending winner of the 2018 Thunder on the Hill All Star sprint event. Cory Eliason of Visalia, CA is third in points followed by Paul McMahan and local Jonestown, PA driver Brock Zearfoss is fifth in the point battle. Locals expected to chase the All Star win include Danny Dietrich, Ryan Smith, Freddie and Brandon Rahmer, Mark Smith, Ryan Taylor, Kyle Moody and JJ Grasso to name a few.
Local favorite Ryan Smith owns eight career wins with the All Stars but is still looking for that first Thunder on the Hill win at Grandview. Smith and others will be looking for this win as they chase the prestigious Hodnett Cup, an actual trophy of Greg Hodnett that annually will honor one of the all-time greats in sprint car racing. Hodnett, a nine time winner and six time Thunder Series Champion at Grandview Speedway lost his life in a racing mishap in September of 2018 in Central Pennsylvania.
Joining the All Star Sprints will be the popular NASCAR 358 Modifieds in this always popular double-header. Jeff Strunk is the winningest driver in Thunder on the Hill history and he will be challenged by Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Mike Gular, Rick Laubach, Brett Kressley and Doug Manmiller just to name a few. The modifieds will complete in a series of qualifying events leading up to the 30 lap, $3,000 to win feature event.
Tickets for Thursday, August 22 are $30 for adults, $10 for children age 6 to 11, and free for kids under 6. Pit admission is $35 and no license is required. Advanced ticket holder can access the general admission seating at 4:30 PM, thirty minutes before tickets go on sale.
Advanced tickets are available by calling 443-513-4456. Guests may pick-up their tickets and pay for them the night of the event after 3:30 PM. Please leave a message with your name, and the number of tickets you are requesting.
Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM, with racing starting at 7:30 PM.
Greg Hodnett collected nine Thunder on the Hill Racing Series wins at the Grandview Speedway – sitting third on the all-time win list. The winner of the event will be photographed with the Hodnett Cup -- fabricated from one of Greg’s many trophies, a base was added where names of future event winners will be engraved. As a perpetual trophy, it will be available on race day for Victory Lane celebration, the winner’s name will be added along with the event date, and the trophy will be on display year-round at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds.

Aaron Reutzel scores seventh All Star victory of 2019 with wire-to-wire performance at Plymouth
PLYMOUTH, Ind. (August 18, 2019) - After a frustrating outing one night prior that ultimately resulted in a ‘DNF’ finish, Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel redeemed himself completely during his Saturday night stay at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, and secured his seventh Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2019 season; his first since Utica-Rome Speedway in mid-July.
A convincing victory to say the least, Reutzel led every lap of the 30-lap program at the Plymouth short track, utilizing patience to maneuver through periods of heavy lapped traffic all while holding off a fast closing Brock Zearfoss, as well as an eighth starting Greg Wilson. The $5,000 triumph also allowed Reutzel to chop into Dale Blaney’s championship points lead, cutting the advantage down to ten markers. Blaney entered the evening with a 26-point advantage, all of which built from Reutzel’s ‘DNF’ result at I-96 Speedway.
“Top, bottom, middle; we were comfortable all over tonight. That’s something we have been working really hard on,” Aaron Reutzel said in Plymouth Speedway victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/Dissolvalloy/No. 87 sprint car. “It was one hell of a team effort tonight. I’m just thankful that my group of guys have stuck behind me.”
Although the Texan was able to control every circuit of the 30-lap main event, Reutzel was never completely on his own. In fact, a blanket could have been thrown over the top four during the midpoint of the main event, a pattern that continued for nearly five circuits. Reutzel eventually escaped into traffic, but Zearfoss, who drove into second from fourth with a bold move through turns one and two on lap nine, remained persistent.
The final four circuits saw the battle between Reutzel and Zearfoss intensify yet again. With slower cars bunching up two and three wide ahead of the leader, Reutzel was forced to check up which allowed Zearfoss to close the gap to a car length by the two-to-go signal.
Solidifying his place on top of the podium, Reutzel perfected a slider through turns one and two to place a slower car between himself and Zearfoss on the final lap. The move worked, allowing Reutzel to cruise home ahead of Zearfoss, Greg Wilson, Gerard McIntryre, and Justin Peck.
“I felt like I was ok through the first set of lapped cars, then I got to a group that I absolutely did not want to have to lap. I was actually praying for a caution so I didn’t have to work around them,” Aaron Reutzel continued. “I was a little timid in traffic tonight, for sure. I didn’t want to get knocked out.”
The All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their 2019 campaign with a four-pack in the Keystone State; four events in four days across much of Posse Country. The four-day invasion of Central Pennsylvania will ignite on Thursday evening, August 22, at the always-racey Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania. Action will move to the historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday, August 23, followed by a visit to the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown on Saturday, August 24. The weekend will conclude on Sunday, August 25, at BAPS Motor Speedway near York Haven.
The events at Grandview Speedway, Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway will each award $5,000 top prizes. The format at Williams Grove Speedway will feature twin main events, each awarding $4,000 paydays.
In addition, MAVTV Motorsports Network, the official television home of the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2019, will be on hand to capture action from Grandview, Williams Grove and Lincoln. All three programs will be broadcast via tape-delay on October 13, October 20 and October 27, respectively.

Cory Eliason gets by Dale Blaney to score All Star victory at I-96 Speedway
LAKE ODESSA, Mich (August 17, 2019) - Utilizing finesse, patience, and other's misfortune, Visalia, California's Cory Eliason earned his second Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2019 season on Friday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan. The $5,000 triumph, his first since scoring a monster payday at Virginia Motor Speedway at the beginning of the points schedule, was accomplished from the outside of row three, eventually taking command on lap 19 and holding off a championship contending Dale Blaney, as well as Premier Motorsports' Justin Peck, at the end of 30 circuits.
"We just kept getting better and better as the feature went on," Cory Eliason expressed, driver of the Rudeen Racing No. 26 entry. "Things went our way tonight and we were able to capitalize. It feels great to be standing out here."
Starting from the outside-pole position, Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel earned the early jump, blasting off to a near-straightaway lead with just three circuits knocked off the scoreboard. A caution on lap four slowed the pace early, and although the initial caution left little effect on the running order, it was the caution on lap eight that left the front-runners in a tangle.
As race leader Aaron Reutzel was attempting to check-up for spinning car at the exit of turn two, Gio Scelzi, who was battling in the second position, made contact with Reutzel’s rear bumper sending the California-native out over the edge of turn two and ultimately upside-down. As a result, Aaron Reutzel was forced to go to the work area; both drivers would not return.
With Reutzel and Gio Scelzi out of the picture, it was Hartford, Ohio’s Dale Blaney who inherited the top spot, now with Eliason and Skylar Gee in tow.
Traffic eventually found its way into the picture by lap 14 creating a sudden roadblock for Blaney. As traffic intensified, so did Eliason’s pressure on the leader. By lap 17, Blaney’s advantage was scraped down to a car length, stuck behind slower cars with Eliason continuing to breath down his neck. The following circuit, Eliason made a big bid for the lead, nearly getting under Blaney as the duo battled off of turn four to complete lap 18. It only took Eliason one more lap to turn his near-takeover attempt into an official lead change, recreating his dive through turns three and four to successfully drive by the six-time All Star champion.
From that point forward, it was all Eliason at the front of the field, leading the final 12 circuits to score his second victory of the 2019 season. A caution with four laps remaining gave Eliason a stir, but Blaney and Justin Peck, who slipped into a podium spot from 11th just beyond halfway, was no match for the Rudeen Racing entry.
Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their march through Michigan and Indiana with a one night stand at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, on Saturday, August 17. Like their trek to Michigan one night prior, the trip to the Hoosier State will be a first and only for the traveling All Stars in 2019.
