Paul McMahan scores first All Star victory since 2002 during visit to Outlaw Speedway

DUNDEE, N.Y. (June 8, 2018) - For the first time since 2002, Paul McMahan is a main event winner with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1, this time leading all 30 circuits around Dundee, New York’s Outlaw Speedway on Friday evening, solidifying a fourth-career main event victory with the traveling circuit, as well as a $5,000 top prize for car owner Tom Buch. The California native who now resides in Nashville, Tenn., never faltered during his campaign at the front of the field, ultimately surviving a first half that included a total of four cautions, two during the opening circuit resulting in three complete start attempts.

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania’s Danny Dietrich, who climbed eight positions during the 30-lap program, chased McMahan to the final checkers, followed by Chad Kemenah, Aaron Reutzel, and Trey Starks.

“I just want to thank my boss for allowing me to take time off of work to come here and race,” Paul McMahan laughed in victory lane. “I owe this all to the guys standing behind me. It feels good to get back in All Star victory lane. This is my first time ever at Outlaw Speedway. It’s a cool, little track that offers a lot of racing room. I’m already looking forward to the next time we visit this place.”

After a pair of bad starts, one of which the result of red flag conditions involving West Virginia’s Cale Conley, main event action was finally underway at Outlaw Speedway with Paul McMahan earning the early advantage. Parker Price-Miller chased McMahan to the flagstand for the first time, followed by Brock Zearfoss and Chad Kemenah.

The main event would go caution-free for eight circuits until motor problems consumed Price-Miller, forced to retire to the pit area on lap nine after a short stint in the runner-up position.

During the same caution, Brock Zearfoss also had problems, losing a right-rear tire while battling within the top-five. Although forced to go to the work area, the Jonestown, Pa., native would soon rejoin the field on the speedway.

The green flag would fly for Paul McMahan for two more circuits until caution flags appeared for the final time on lap 11, this time for a bundle of cars that made contact at the entrance of turn one. All drivers involved, including Brock Zearfoss who just returned to the speedway, walked away unharmed.

From that point forward, main event action went undisturbed. McMahan continued to lead the pack, now with Chad Kemenah, Danny Dietrich and Dave Blaney on his heels. Dietrich worked around Kemenah on the following circuit to take the runner-up spot officially on lap 12, soon followed by Dave Blaney who also worked by Kemenah to take third officially on lap 14.

Slower cars came into the picture for the first time just beyond the midpoint of the 30-lapper forcing McMahan to maneuver off of his preferred line around the bottom of the speedway. Even when traffic started to intensify near the end of the main event, McMahan kept his advantage over the other front-runners by utilizing the top of turns one and two and the very bottom of turns three and four.

“This car was working from top to bottom,” McMahan continued, driver of the Apex Structures/DMI/DKW Transport/No. 13 sprint car. “Traffic really didn’t seem to slow us up at all. I was able to move around them without any trouble. When you can move around like that pretty flawlessly, it’s easy to build confidence and race hard. I’m proud of all of these guys. Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow at Stateline Speedway.”

A near-five lap battle for the runner-up spot between Dietrich and Blaney during laps 22 through 26 ended in Dietrich’s favor as Blaney would clip an inside tire forcing the Premier Motorsports entry to retire to the infield. Although moving in within a half-straightaway of McMahan, Dietrich would be forced to settle for second, followed by six-time and defending All Star champion, Chad Kemenah, at the line.

The All Star invasion of the Empire State will continue on Saturday, June 9, when the Series ventures to the southwest corner of New York and visits the “New” Stateline Speedway near Jamestown; the first visit to Stateline Speedway in nearly five decades. The last time Tony Stewart’s All Stars visited Stateline Speedway, the year was 1970 and the winner was Lee Osborne. The All Star victory was just one of 17 over the course of Osborne’s illustrious career.

Stateline Speedway near Jamestown, N.Y., will open pit gates at noon on Saturday, June 9, but the facility will be swept at 3:30 p.m. so passes can be purchased. A mandatory All Star drivers meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6:10 p.m. Those seeking additional news and notes should visit Stateline Speedway live on the Web at www.newstatelinespeedway.com.

Aaron Reutzel wins at Lernerville for second All Star victory of 2018

SARVER, Pa. (June 1, 2018) - Aaron Reutzel cruised to his second Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2018 season on Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, leading all but the first two circuits to ink his name on the $5,000 winner’s check.

Reutzel, who started second on the feature grid, nearly swept the entire evening program at the Sarver, Pa., 4/10-mile oval, not only recording the fastest time of the night during hot laps and qualifying time trials, but also earning a dash victory. The main event win allowed the Clute, Texas, native to extend his All Star driver championship point lead, now with a 28-point advantage over the “Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild.

The “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer used a late surge to power to second at the final checkers, followed by Parker Price-Miller, Carson Macedo, and defending Series champion, Chad Kemenah.

“We’ve been working really hard at getting our cars to go where other people can’t,” Reutzel said in victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87. “I knew it was going to take a really fast race car to beat us here tonight. I felt that if we didn’t make any mistakes, we were going to be really good. It’s really cool to come to a place you’ve never raced at before and get a win. We really didn’t know what to expect.”

Despite showing the way for the vast majority of the 30-lapper, it was pole sitter, Dave Blaney, who got the early jump, using the bottom line around Lernerville Speedway to lead the first two laps. Wasting little time before making his first, official bid for the top spot, Reutzel chased Blaney for the first two circuits, eventually squeezing underneath the former World of Outlaws champion at the entrance of turn one. The squeeze tactic worked, gaining the top spot to officially lead lap three.

“I knew the bottom was going to be good, but I also knew the top was going to stay good over here in turns three and four,” Reutzel continued. “I just wanted to make sure we weren’t bottom-dependent. I could even roll through the middle pretty good. I had to use the bottom to get by Blaney, but when I stayed down there, I was forced to slow down a lot. That’s when I decided to start rolling through the middle and top.”

Tim Shaffer’s charge to the runner-up spot started from the outside of row four. Strong right from the drop of the initial green, the nearby Aliquippa, Pa., native was solidly inside the top-five just before the midpoint of the 30-lap program, eventually driving around a pair of cars battling for position, Dave Blaney and Jac Haudenschild, to move into second on lap 16.

Forced to battle in traffic for the next four circuits, Shaffer and Haudenschild exchanged positions again on lap 20, just before the main event’s third and final caution appeared on lap 21. A sound restart attempt allowed Shaffer to battle back by Haudenschild, and that is where he stayed.

Parker Price-Miller also used the evening’s last caution to gain positions in the running order, bouncing ahead from fifth to third by the completion of lap 23.

The first two cautions of the main event appeared on the opening circuit and lap nine, respectively. The caution during the opening green involved seven competitors, ultimately forcing a complete restart.

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will conclude their two-race tour of the Keystone State with a stop at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., on Sunday, June 3. The $5,000-to-win Roy Morral Classic will headline action at the Bedford Fairgrounds half-mile; the first and only appearance by Tony Stewart's All Stars in 2018.

Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., will open pit gates at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 3. A mandatory All Star meeting will take shape at 5:30 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6 p.m. Those seeking additional news and notes regarding the Roy Morral Classic should visit Bedford Speedway on the Web at www.bedfordspeedway.com.

Christopher Bell wins inaugural Bob Hampshire Classic at Waynesfield Raceway Park

WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (May 27, 2018) - Norman, Oklahoma’s Christopher Bell put fans on their feet on Sunday night at Waynesfield Raceway Park, utilizing the top and bottom grooves around the high-banked, 1/3-mile oval to master traffic, ultimately battling passed the “Brownsburg Bullet” Joey Saldana to earn the inaugural Bob Hampshire Classic triumph against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1. The $5,000 victory raised Bell’s career win total to four against Tony Stewart’s All Stars, his first-ever at Waynesfield Raceway Park.

Paul McMahan chased Bell to the final checkers, followed by early race leader, Joey Saldana, six-time and defending Series champion, Chad Kemenah, and ninth-starting, Gio Scelzi.

“I hope you guys enjoyed that one because that was a ton of fun to drive,” Christopher Bell said, driver of the Linder’s Speed Equipment/Dough-Si-Dough Shoppe/Fisher Performance/No. 11N. “I’ll tell you what, I think we need to have more sprint car races here at Waynesfield.”

Capitalizing on his outside-front row starting position, Bell commenced his hunt for the top spot early by maintaining the runner-up position at the drop of the green flag. Despite Saldana earning the early advantage from the pole position, Bell never left his tail tank, keeping himself within striking distance for the first five circuits. Bell made his first bid for the top spot on lap six, working his way under the Rudeen Racing entry at the exit of turn four. With Bell immediately stuck behind a cluster of lapped cars at the entrance of turn one, Saldana was able to return the favor and work back around Bell to regain control.

The feature’s only caution halted action on lap 17, thus allowing Bell to restart on the back bumper of Saldana. The fresh start proved to be beneficial for the Chili Bowl Nationals champion, soon working back underneath Saldana on the 21st circuit. Paul McMahan, who battled in the third position the entire distance up until that point, followed Bell around Saldana to take the second spot officially on lap 22.

Heavy traffic came into play shortly thereafter giving McMahan a few opportunities to work underneath Bell. Soon enough, Bell, who was making use of the top and middle grooves primarily, switched lanes and began working the very bottom of the corners, especially in turns three and four. The lane swap was enough to keep all momentum, even dodging a near-mishap with a lapped car to drive on to score the All Star victory over McMahan and Saldana.

“I really don’t know what happened there,” Bell said about the near-tangle with a lapped car. “We got bottled up pretty good. I don’t have a bunch of laps at this place, but I’ve watched a bunch here. There always seems to be a lot of lapped traffic, and this place is really fast. Even when it slicks off like tonight, you’re still scooting around here pretty good. Joey (Saldana) was really good there at the beginning. I knew I was good, too. I just kept tugging on that wing. The lapped cars started running really good on the bottom. They were pulling away from me coming off of four. I figured if they can do it, I can do it. It all worked out.”

“Bob Hampshire is a special guy,” Bell continued. “It’s a real honor to be able to win his race.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will move on down the highway and continue their 2018 campaign with a pair of rescheduled starts in Pennsylvania, kicking-off the month of June with visits to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver and Bedford Speedway in Bedford on Friday and Sunday, June 1 & 3, respectively. The All Stars will visit Lernerville and Bedford only once in 2018, each awarding a $5,000 top prize.

Those seeking additional news and notes should visit each facility live on the Web at www.lernerville.com and www.bedfordspeedway.com.

Cale Thomas passes Joey Saldana late to earn first-ever All Star victory

ATTICA, Ohio (May 25, 2018) - Fairland, Indiana’s Cale Thomas officially etched his name in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 history book on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park, utilizing a late-race restart to drive by race-long leader, Joey Saldana, to capture his first-ever All Star main event victory, as well as a $5,000 top prize.

Thomas, who battled in the runner-up position the entire distance before taking over the top spot, made his winning move with just 11 circuits remaining, actually driving underneath Saldana at the exit of turn four to officially lead lap 30. A caution involving second row starter, Brady Bacon, on lap 29 set-up the winning move with Thomas ultimately chasing Saldana to complete lap 29 just before slingshotting under his fellow Indiana native the following circuit. From that point forward, it was all Thomas, eventually pulling away to a comfortable advantage over the “Brownsburg Bullet.”

“I did my best Byron Reed impression tonight. I knew Joey [Saldana] was running the bottom of turns one and two and the top of turns three and four, so I knew I had to go somewhere where he wasn’t,” Cale Thomas explained, driver of the Engler Machine & Tool No. 91. “I got under Saldana coming off of four just after that last restart. He tried to come down and block me, but I knew I didn’t want to give the spot up. I gave him a little tap so he knew I was there hoping it would move him up the track and it worked. I don’t like driving like that, but that part of the track was open and I had to take it. I knew I was faster on that restart.”

Joey Saldana held on to finish second after leading the first 29 circuits.

“Actually, I was struggling during all of the restarts tonight,” Saldana said, who had to endure five cautions during the 40-lap program, one of which resulting in red flag conditions. “Every restart Cale would get a really good run on me. It took me about a lap or three-quarters of a lap to get the tires back underneath me. Regardless, hats off to those guys. I know how special it is to win your first race, especially an All Star race. It’s a feeling that never goes away. It’s hard to win one of these races. Congratulations to them.”

In impressive fashion, twelfth row starter, Lee Jacobs, finished third during the evening’s All Star main event, making his first appearance in a podium position on lap 34, ultimately overpowering Lemoore, California’s Carson Macedo to take the spot permanently on lap 36 . Jacobs’ charge from 23rd to finish third was enough to earn the MSD Performance Hard Charger Award.

“Hats off to Rex LeJeune, the All Stars, and the entire Attica staff tonight,” Lee Jacobs said, driver the of 1881 Motorsports/Simcox Grinding & Steel/No. 81 sprint car. “You could race all over this track tonight; top, bottom, middle. I wish we would have started a little closer toward the front. I think we had the car to beat the last 10 laps or so.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their holiday weekend tour of the Buckeye State with a stop at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, May 26. Like Attica Raceway Park, Tony Stewart’s All Stars will battle for a $5,000 top prize at “Orrville’s Historic Oval,” the second of four stops on the season.

The “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer is the most recent winner during All Star competition at Wayne County Speedway, charging ahead from the outside of row four to do so. The $5,000 victory was Shaffer’s second of the season during All Star competition, also claiming top honors at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., on February 2.

Wayne County Speedway will open pit gates at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. The mandatory All Star drivers meeting will take shape at 5 p.m followed by hot laps at 5:50 p.m., sharp. Those seeking additional news and notes should visit Wayne County Speedway live on the Web at www.waynecountyspeedway.com.

Aaron Reutzel claims inaugural Buckeye Cup at Sharon Speedway for first-ever All Star victory

HARTFORD, Ohio (May 5, 2018) - Although close during recent competition, finishing second to Lance Dewease during the annual Keith Kauffman Classic at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, Clute, Texas' Aaron Reutzel was never an All Star Circuit of Champions winner. That statistic changed Saturday evening as Reutzel dominated main event competition at Sharon Speedway to claim the inaugural “Buckeye Cup,” ultimately leading all 30 circuits around the Hartford, 3/8-mile oval to earn the $5,000 payday, as well as a first-ever Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event victory.

In addition, the “Buckeye Cup” triumph propelled Reutzel to the top of the All Star Circuit of Champions driver standings, now holding a ten-point advantage over the “Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild.

Fourth-starting Carson Macedo chased Reutzel to the final checkers, followed by Jac Haudenschild, Parker Price-Miller, and Tony Stewart.

“I could see my crew guy in turn one telling me that I had a huge lead. I've never laughed racing, but to see that big guy motion to me that I was clear was pretty funny,” Aaron Reutzel said, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/No. 87 sprint car. “We've been close with the All Stars a few times, so to get a win now kinda puts some stress behind us. Now we have the rest of the year to enjoy and try to win more.”

Starting from the pole position by way of dash victory, Reutzel's campaign at the front of the field was only put to the test once. A caution on lap six, followed by red flag conditions as the result of a multi-car incident on the ensuing restart, forced the field to be bunched back together. Despite being tailed during the single-file restart by Lemoore, California's Carson Macedo, and three-time NASCAR Cup champion, Tony Stewart, Reutzel never faltered, wasting little time returning to a commanding lead that increased to nearly three seconds by lap ten.

Even during periods of heavy traffic, which came into play as early as lap 11, Reutzel maintained complete control, utilizing the ultra-thin cushion that lined the very outer rim of the speedway. Reutzel's lead increased to nearly six seconds by lap 25, eventually crossing under the final checkers by a margin of victory equalling 5.3 seconds.

Despite Reutzel's commanding performance at the front of the field, plenty of action was unfolding behind for former ASCS national champion that included an impressive hard charge by Jac Haudenschild to finish third after starting 16th. Kokomo, Indiana's Parker Price-Miller was also making moves during the 30-lapper, battling ahead ten positions to earn his second top-five performance of the 2018 season against the All Star Circuit of Champions.

“We are having a lot of fun right now. To be fast like this right out of the box is unbelievable,” Reutzel continued. “We put this team together on December 20th. When you surround yourself with great people like I do, anything is possible. Things are going great right now. I'm pretty blessed to be in this spot.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will take a weekend off before returning to competition on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, with a pair of visits in the Badger State. Invading Plymouth Dirt Track-Sheybogan County Fairgrounds and Angell Park Speedway, respectively, the All Star Circuit of Champions will challenge the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series during their weekend tour of Wisconsin; the first and only Wisconsin visit for Tony Stewart's All Stars in 2018.

Those seeking additional news and notes regarding the upcoming starts in the Badger State should visit each facility live on the Web at http://www.plymouthdtr.com/ and http://www.angellparkspeedway.net/.

On a special note, in addition to the rescheduled Lernerville Speedway appearance set for Friday, June 1, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will also visit Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., on Sunday, June 3. The All Stars were scheduled to make their first and only appearance at the Bedford Fairgrounds half-mile on Sunday, April 15, but unseasonably cold temperatures and wet weather forced an early cancellation.

Tim Shaffer hard charges to a $5,000 payday at Wayne County Speedway

ORRVILLE, Ohio (April 21, 2018) - For the first time during his illustrious career, the “Steel City Outlaw” Tim Shaffer is an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner at Wayne County Speedway. The Aliquippa, Pa., native, who bumped his career win total to 62 during All Star competition, earned his $5,000 payday in fantastic fashion, battling forward from the outside of row four to track down race-long leader, Chad Kemenah, with just nine circuits remaining. Shaffer's performance, his second All Star victory of the 2018 season, also earned him the MSD Performance Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions.

All Star main event pole-sitter, Carson Macedo, who also worked around Kemenah during the later laps of the 30-lap program, finished second at “Orrville's Historic Oval,” followed by Chad Kemenah, Parker Price-Miller, and Spencer Bayston.

“That was a blast tonight. What a car we had,” Tim Shaffer said in Wayne County Speedway victory lane. “Cody Jacobs gave me a great car here tonight. We wanted this one bad. We always seemed to struggle when we came here, but tonight was different. We started eighth, but just kept on going.”

Shaffer's march to the front started immediately, advancing into a top-five position early and knocking on the door for a podium spot just before the main event's first and only caution appeared on lap 11. The single-file restart was just the ticket for the driver of the Demyan-Rudzik Racing/Rudzik Excavating/No. 49X sprint car, moving around Parker Price-Miller for third by the completion of lap 11, then overtaking Carson Macedo for second on lap 12.

In the meantime, Hunter Racing's Chad Kemenah, who led from the drop of the green flag, was beginning to gain a slight advantage over Shaffer. The six-time and defending All Star champion found himself in heavy traffic by lap 17 which gave Shaffer the opportunity he needed to close the gap. By lap 20, Shaffer was within striking distance, making his first official bid for the top spot on lap 22 with a textbook slider through turns three and four. The bid for the lead worked, solidifying Shaffer's position at the top of the running order.

Just two circuits later, Macedo was also able to work by Chad Kemenah, now setting his aim for the “Steel City Outlaw.” Although closing the gap to just over one second, Macedo's hourglass ran empty, crossing under the final checkers 1.28 seconds behind the Demyan-Rudzik Racing entry.

“On that restart, I tried to go to the top and that is when [Tim Shaffer] got by us,” Macedo said, driver of the Lucas Oil/Slade Shock Technology/Tarlton & Sons/No. 3G sprint car. “I thought I was maybe going to have something for him at the end, but hats off to those guys. They did a really good job here tonight.”

“I just had to be patient,” Shaffer explained. “I was really racing hard, but I wanted to give myself a chance to win. I just had to be careful with the lapped cars that were starting to stack up in front of me. We just had to nail down smart laps and be there at the end. It feels good to beat these guys here tonight.”

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will have one weekend off before returning to competition on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, with a pair of programs in Western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Tony Stewart's All Stars will invade the historic Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on Friday, May 4, followed by a visit to the state-of-the-art Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday, May 5. Each program will award a $5,000 top prize.

Additional news and information regarding the upcoming visits to Lernerville Speedway and Sharon Speedway will be posted in the near future. For now, fans are encouraged to visit Lernerville Speedway and Sharon Speedway on the Web at www.lernerville.com and www.sharonspeedway.com.
