MATT SHEPPARD WINS V.P. RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MEMORIAL, KEVIN HIRTHLER TOPS IN SPORTSMAN FEATURE RUN IN FRONT OF A LARGE FAN TURNOUT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. April 7, 2019 . . . Ma Nature smiled on Saturday night producing a beautiful for the second annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker at Grandview Speedway saw a combination of over 80 Modifieds and Sportsman cars fill the pits to participate in front of a large fan turnout. The race, named in honor of the man that built the 1/3-mile clay oval along with his father Forrest, continues under the leadership of the Rogers family.
New York invader Matt “Superman” Sheppard inherited the lead in the 50-lap small block/big block Modified event when Brian Hirthler, doing double duty, came to a halt in turn four for the yellow with 16 laps in the books. Sheppard held off the challenges at various times from Duane Howard, Stewart Friesen and Jeff Strunk to collect the $7,500 top prize money.
In Sportsman action Kevin Hirthler, also competing in both classes, took the lead away from Craig Whitmoyer on the 13th lap restart and went on to claim the victory in the 25-lap race for the second straight year.
The 50-lap Modified event saw B. Hirthler grab the early lead trailed by Frank Yankowski, rookie and 2018 Sportsman point champ Louden Reimert, Howard and Danny Johnson. It wasn’t long before Sheppard joined the challenging mix.
Howard overtook second on the 13th lap to pressure Hirthler for the top spot with the top five positions completed by Johnson, Sheppard and Strunk.
Hirthler’s run ended when mechanical issues forced him to stop in turn four and that quick Sheppard took advantage of the situation and went from fourth to first as the yellow unfurled on the 16th lap. On the restart Sheppard held his own with Howard, Friesen, Strunk and Ray Swinehart in pursuit.
Johnson was eliminated from the hunt when a flat tire sidelined him as the yellow came out on lap 18. It was still Shepard in the lead when action resumed.
Howard and Friesen had a battle of their own brewing for second and that position was swapped on the 27th lap, but five laps later the roles were reversed.
Howard’s victory lane visions were erased when a flat left rear tire brought out the yellow and put him out of contention. When action went green again Sheppard was still in command with second through fifth now comprised of Strunk, Rick Laubach, Jared Umbenhauer and K. Hirthler.
Sheppard distanced himself from the pack in the later stages and despite having to deal with lapped traffic that didn’t deter him and he went on to park it in the winner’s circle. Following him across the line were Strunk, Laubach, Jared Umbenhauer and Hirthler. Rounding out the top ten were Friesen, Craig Von Dohren, Reimert, Brett Kressley and Kyle Weiss.
Von Dohren, who started last in 24th spot and after two pit stops under caution still managed to finish seventh and took the $500 Bob Hilbert Hard Charger award.
Through the luck of the draw, Meme DeSantis, Richie Pratt Jr., Ron Myers and Richie Hitzler each collected $250 from American Racer, the tire supplier, as part of the non-qualifiers portion.
Umbenhauer, R. Swinehart, Strunk and B. Hirthler were the heat winners. Consies were won by Billy Pauch Sr. and Laubach.
After two attempts to get a lap completed in the Sportsman feature Whitmoyer grabbed the early lead and followed by Brad Brightbill, K. Hirthler, Mike Koffel and Ryan Smith.
K. Hirthler moved into second on the eighth lap to pursue the lead.
Scott Kohler spun on the 13th lap for a yellow and on this restart Hirthler and Reimert swapped paint and K. Hirthler emerged as the new leader.
Hirthler never relinquished the lead and went on to claim the win by a healthy margin over Whitmoyer, Brightbill, B. Hirthler and Mark Kemmerer. Sixth through tenth were Kreis, Brad Grim, Dean Bachman and Josh Adams.

Racing returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 13 when the chase for the NASCAR and track titles kicks off for the T.P. Trailers 358 Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters under 12 are admitted free. Then on Saturday, April 20th the Blast from the Past Vintage racers will make it a tripleheader racing program with no increase in admission prices.

Bechtelsville, PA April 3, 2019 . . . The 2019 auto racing season, the 57th consecutive, is set to get the green flag on Saturday, April 6, at Grandview Speedway.
The big attraction is the Second Annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Maker Memorial which pays $7,500 to the top finisher in the classic race that will have the best Small Block Modified talents going against top talents in the Big Block Modifieds. The first qualifying event is set for 7 p.m.
New York standouts Danny Johnson and Matt Sheppard (according to his fan page), two of the very best traveling dirt track racers, have added their names to the growing list of talents planning to be part of the April 6th action.
Billy Pauch Sr., a big winner in the past at Grandview, is coming off an impressive victory last Saturday at nearby Bridgeport Speedway. He will be looking for his second win in as many outings. Other standout dirt track performers such as Ryan Watt, Rick Laubach, Michael Maresca, Brett Kressley, and others will challenge many of the Grandview regulars such as Duane Howard, Mike Gular, Jeff Strunk, Craig Von Dohren, Doug Manmiller, Tim Buckwalter, Mike Laise, Ron Kline, Jared Umbenhauer, Frank Cozze, Ray and Stan Swinehart and a host of others.
A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the main event, a 50-lapper, with the winner going home with $7,500 and the prestige of being the top performer in the classic. In addition each qualifier for the main event earns a very impressive $1,000 or more.
The popular Sportsman stock cars will make up the second part of the doubleheader show with $750 guaranteed for the winner and $125 for each feature starter.
American Racer, the tire supplier, has posted $1,000 to be divided up among four of the racers that do not qualify. And there is $500 posted by Bob Hilbert Sportswear of Boyertown, PA for the Hard Charger award.
Leading the racers around for starts in their events will be the Stoudt Auto Sales of Reading pace truck which will be the pace vehicle for all the Grandview events this season.
Those wishing to register for the Rogers Memorial, there is no license required and no entry fee, can do so at www.grandviewspeedway.com/bruce-rogers-memorial/. A drivers meeting will take place at 5 pm with all cars signed in by 5 pm. The drawing for qualifying heat starting positions takes place at 5:30 pm. And hot laps for the racers start at 6 pm.
Adult admission will be $28 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5. Kids under six are admitted FREE. Pit fee is $35. The rain date is set for Saturday, April 13th.
Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m.
The very next Saturday, April 13th, the first of the weekly series of NASCAR/Track chase for the championship events will be presented with the TP Trailers Modifieds and TP Truck Equipment Sportsman taking part. This will be the regular Saturday night attraction throughout the season. There will be added attractions from time to time during the season on Saturday nights. Adult admission for the regular Saturday night events will be $15 while youngster under 12 being admitted for FREE.
When the racing ends each night fans are invited to head back to the pit area to see the race cars up close, take pictures and collect autographs.
Grandview Speedway is known for their excellent well-stocked concession areas and there is a great novelty stand that offers souvenirs, t-shirts, hats and more along with copies of the latest edition of the track magazine, The Inside Groove.

NASCAR T.P.TRUCK EQPT SPORTSMAN CHAMPION LOUDEN REIMERT MOVING TO THE NASCAR T.P.TRAILERS MODIFIEDS AT GRANDVIEW; READY FOR THE VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MONEY MAKER CLASSIC ON APRIL 6
BECHTELSVILLE, PA MARCH 16, 2019 . . . Nothing would make Oley, PA’s Louden Reimert happier than to do well, exceptionally well, maybe even win the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Maker Classic, a 50-lapper featuring many of the best area talents in 358 Modifieds and Big Block Modifieds, at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 6th at 7 p.m.
In addition to getting a big share of the lucrative prize money, close to $50,000 being offered, it would be a great way to kick off the celebration of his 18th birthday that is coming up.
The young racer who won the 2018 NASCAR T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman championship using consistency, will be a full time racer on in the Grandview Speedway T.P.Trailers 358 Modified division. He is anxious for the season to start.
In fact he did get his season started a couple weeks back when he traveled to Syracuse, NY and won an indoor Len Sammons produced Slingshot race.
Reimert has tested the waters in 358 Modifieds and run last year in the first Rogers Memorial and in the rich Freedom 76 Classic. He qualified and did well racing against some of the top names in the business.
The personable young racing talent comes from a family of racing people. One grandfather bought him his first quarter midget and got him on his way. He has watched as his father Shawn performed well, five career feature wins, with the Modifieds at Grandview. And Grandfather Terry was a talented racer at the Bechtelsville, PA clay oval. Even Mom is behind the scenes doing her part to help the team.
Reimert is very excited about this season as is the team as they have a good car and motor provided by owner Doug Flurer who has provided equipment for such standouts over the years as Jason Hamilton, Rick Laubach and others.
Still in school taking vocational classes in machining he also works at Christman’s Meat Market, a name well known in the sport. All the free time is spent with the team working on the race car.
Sponsorship support will come from Kochel Equipment, a longtime supporter of the Reimert family racing activities, Rhoad’s Brothers Livestock and Christman’s Meat Market plus others.
Though Louden is looking to race in events at other tracks, and effort to improve his racing skills, his main effort will be at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway and it all gets started with the $7,500 to win VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Maker Memorial on April 6th which will see him pitted up against many top talents. This race does not carry a NASCAR sanction and is open to both 358 and Big Block Modifieds. Every racer making the main event will earn at least $1,000.

Then on Saturday, March 30th, 12 noon, fans will be admitted free to practice session that features all sorts of race cars testing their equipment for the new season. That will be a good time for fans to pick out their seat and purchase as $350 season ticket that includes all Saturday Rogers Family racing events between April and the end of September.

Once again this year of the most talked about and most anticipated race events to be presented at Grandview Speedway is set to happen when the Second Annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker Classic takes place on Saturday, April 6. The starting time is set for 7PM.
The race, a 50-lapper on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval, will feature the Small Block Modifieds going up against Big Block Modifieds with the winner walking off with at least $7,500 out of a purse for the day’s racing that reaches almost $50,000.
Many racers like the fact that the race is paying $7,500 to win. And they like that every racer that makes the main event will go home with at least $1,000. However all that is secondary to them as they welcome the opportunity to again have the opportunity to win a race run in memory of a man they had so much respect for. The beautiful specially created trophy that goes to the winner will be treasured by the winner as well as just about any other driver that takes part in the big event and is able to win.
The Rogers Memorial is expected to attract quite a few outsiders as they seek the big bucks for the win and the prestige of winning the Classic named in memory of the late track owner. But of course the weekly regulars are expected to include 2018 track champion Mike Gular, 10-time track champion Craig Von Dohren, past champions Jeff Strunk and Duane Howard, 2018 track Sportsman champion Louden Reimert, Doug Manmiller, Ray Swinehart, and many others.

NAPA RETURNS AS SERIES SPONSOR, USAC SPRINTS & MIDGETS, PA SPRINT SPEED WEEK, ALL STARS SPRINTS & MODIFIEDS ARE ON THE SCHEDULE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (JANUARY 17, 2019) – Five exciting events have been scheduled for the 30th Anniversary season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series at Grandview Speedway, in Bechtelsville, PA.
A diverse schedule of events includes three nationally touring racing circuits plus, Thunder staples like the Modifieds and the 410 Sprint Cars in a jam-packed agenda – that is highlighted by two lucrative $10,000-to-win events.
The 2019 season kicks off with a $10,000-to-win event on Tuesday, June 11. The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series competes in the Jesse Hockett Classic. ‘The Macho Man’ Brady Bacon is sure to put on a show, the Broken Arrow, OK native has scored victories in the past two USAC non-wing Sprint Car events at Grandview Speedway. Alongside the USAC competitors is the 358 Modifieds – Grandview’s top weekly racing division. Gates open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.
The twenty-fifth scheduled Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek event takes place on Tuesday, July 2. Nothing is more American than 410 Sprint Cars and the fans on ‘The Hill’ know how to celebrate our nation. NASCAR Cup Series star, Kyle Larson has claimed victories in the past two Grandview Speedweek events – but with $10,000 up for grabs Pennsylvania’s famed PA Posse is ready to keep that payday local. The 358 Modifieds join the 410 Sprint Cars for a thrilling double header.
The NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midgets’ first recent appearance at Grandview Speedway takes place on Tuesday, July 30. Fans have been clamoring for the Midgets to hit the high-banks in Bechtelsville and you can be sure they’ll be ready for a good time. Familiar Grandview Sprint Car faces like Brady Bacon and Tyler Courtney challenge 2018 National Midget Champion Logan Seavey – and most likely some local flavor in what is expected to be an action-packed event.
The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions return to Grandview Speedway on Thursday August 22 for the 5th Annual Levan Machine and Truck Equipment Thunder Cup. In 2018, Aaron Reutzel drank champagne from the two-foot tall gold chalice with confetti flying in the background. The best-of-the-best in 410 Sprint Car racing will be on hand for their second appearance at the Berks County dirt track.
The season closes out on Saturday, October 19 with the House of Thunder Halloween Party featuring the 22nd running of the Modified Traffic Jam. Lauded as one of the most exciting Modified races around the Traffic Jam boasts previous winners like Brett Hearn, Tim McCreadie, Jimmy Horton, Ryan Watt, Jeff Strunk, Duane Howard and Craig VonDohren among many others. A Big-Block vs. Small-Block rules package allows for a outsiders to try their hand at the one-third-mile Grandview Speedway. Alongside the Modifieds will be the Sportsman, and MASS 305 Sprint Cars.

The brainchild of Grandview Speedway owner Bruce Rogers, special events promoter Bob Miller and local driving star Dave Kelly, the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series celebrates 30 years of the most anticipated events of the racing calendar year after year. In 132 events, over $4.6 million dollars has been divvied up among the area's fastest racers. What started as a single 410 Sprint Car event in 1990 has blossomed to feature a variety of racing action including 358 Modifieds, USAC Wingless Sprints, All-Star Circuit of Champions, 360 & 410 Sprint Cars, Sportsman, Late Models, Midgets, Legend Cars, DIRTcar and ROC Modified events. The 2019 30th Anniversary Series of Thunder on the Hill is dedicated to Bruce Rogers.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY OFFERS VARIETY IN THEIR SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR 2019
SEVERAL NEW CLASSES OF RACING COMPETITION SCHEDULED
BECHTELSVILLE, PA January 14, 2019 . . . More than three dozen dates of auto racing are on the schedule being run at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway during the 2019 season, the 57th consecutive season of racing action now being presented by the Rogers Family.
T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman stock cars will be the regular Saturday night attraction plus added attractions.
Adding variety to the busy schedule will be Wingless Sportsman, Enduro Racing, Blast from the Past Vintage Racing, Central Pennsylvania Legends, Mid Atlantic Sprint Series, East Coast USAC Sprints, United Racing Club Sprints with the possibility more special attractions being added to the Saturday Night schedule.
Those taking part in the two division Saturday night shows for Modifieds and Sportsman are reminded that a NASCAR license is required to enter the pit area. All Modified and Sportsman drivers must a hold a valid NASCAR license to compete.
Per event NASCAR licenses will be available for $25.00 for a single event or $50 for a 15-day three event license.
Visiting race divisions will not be required to have licenses but will pay a pit admission fee.
And to clear up any confusion regarding Saturday night Modified and Sportsman prize money the Modifieds will be racing for $2500 to win plus the $300 bonus bucks from T.P.Trailers provided the winning car has the T.P. decals displayed properly. The Sportsman will be racing for an increased purse along with $600 to win the feature plus $200 T.P.Truck Equipment bonus bucks making for a total first place payoff of $800. A feature winning Crate Sportsman, with proper decals, will now earn $900 to win.
The 2019 season will get started with Enduro competition on Saturday, March 23rd followed by the annual free-to-the-public practice session, open to all divisions of competition, on Saturday, March 30th at noon.
The second annual Bruce Rogers Money Maker Big Block/Small Block $7,500 to win 50-lapper is set for Saturday, April 6th. There will be no NASCAR license required for this event.
For the 30th year the popular Thunder on the Hill Racing Series, presented by Bob Miller and the Rogers Family, will bring a number of special attractions for the popular clay track.
The biggest event of the season, the 49th Annual Freedom 76 Classic, paying $25,000 to win and attracting many of the top names in dirt racing, will take place on Saturday, September 21st with a rain date set for Saturday, September 28th.

SATURDAY NIGHT RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT LOOK IN 2019
RULE CHANGES ANNOUNCED AS SEASON IS SET TO START ON MARCH 30
ADDED ATTRACTIONS TO BE PART OF SOME SATURDAY NIGHTS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA December 10, 2018 . . . Changes have been made for the 2019 season at Grandview Speedway and Saturday night racing action will have a new look.
“The lack of participants, car counts have been declining in recent years, has forced us to remove the Late Models from the Saturday night racing action,” said track spokesperson Tina Rogers. “Over the recent years we have held meetings with the owners and drivers and listened to their ideas on how to save the division. However the car count could not support it any longer. With many teams selling out and others planning to travel the car count would be event less for 2019.
It is so sad that we have been forced to take this step as Late Models have been a big part of racing at Grandview for many years. Certainly our thanks go out to those who supported the division. It is the end of an era.”
A 10:1 compression rule replaces the old 9:1 engine rule. This change will allow Late Model owners wishing to do so to use their motors in the Modified division of competition. The maximum on a Whistler will be 10:4.
Saturday night racing will now feature the T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modifieds and Sportsman stock cars. The Sportsman division can look forward to more info on their new season as plans are being finalized. With the elimination of the Late Models track management will now be looking to add special attractions on Saturday nights and first to be signed is the URC Sprints on July 20 along with the East Coast USAC Sprints set for May 18th. As the schedule is filled in there will be a number of other special attractions.
Another change announced after a meeting of track officials and management has all Modifieds and Sportsman being allowed to use single or double conventional rub rails on the left side of their car only.
The Crate 604 Sportsman and Crate 602 Sportsman engines may now run a 750CFM Holley carburetor on gas. The carb rules can be found in the Modified section of the rule book at www.grandviewspeedway.com.
And another rule being implemented is that all Sportsman sail panels must be of equal height.

The 2019 season, the 57th straight season of stock car racing, is set to start with the annual free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 30th at noon.
The VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial, featuring Modifieds, will be the first official night of racing action and is set for Saturday, April 6th. That race will pay $7,500 to win and $1,000 to start the race. The race remembers the man who, with his father Forrest, developed the track into one of the most successful weekly dirt short track operations in the nation. The family continues the operation of the popular facility.
