FINALLY MA NATURE COOPERATES, NASCAR RACES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY WON BY BRETT KRESSLEY, WAYNE PFEIL AND KYLE LILICK
BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 27, 2018 – After a two week hiatus courtesy of Mother Nature, racing finally returned to the 1/3-mile clay high banks of Grandview Speedway on Saturday night.
Brett Kressley, became the first repeat winner of the season in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers NASCAR Modified feature for his fifth Saturday night victory. It didn’t come easy for the current point leader as Mike Gular pressured him from the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie marker, through numerous cautions, until the checkered flag was unfurled.
Wayne Pfeil led from start to finish in the 25-lap NASCAR Late Model feature to record his first win of the season and 12th career win by a healthy margin over teammate and runner-up Kyle Merkel. Pfeil became the third different winner thus far this season in the division.
In the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature Kyle Lilick led the first eight laps before Dylan Swinehart took the high line coming off the fourth turn to become the new leader. Lilick regained control on the 21st lap and stayed there until he posted his first win of the season and second career triumph as the fourth different winner of 2018.
All feature winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers providing they met the necessary requirements plus awards from VP Racing Fuels.
Modified action saw Briggs Danner set the pace for one lap before Skylar Sheriff overtook him on the second lap restart for a five-car second turn incident.
Behind Sheriff, Ray Swinehart, rookie Jordan Henn, Brian Krummel and Bobby Trapper Jr., another rookie competed second through fifth with Kressley making his move to advance into the top five.
Danner stopped along the backstretch with a flat tire for yet another caution on lap six. Sheriff held onto first when action resumed, but by this time Kressley, Krummel, Henn and Gular battled for positions behind him.
Kressley, who powered his way to the front from 15th, was in the lead by the 11th lap – the same time Gular overtook second to challenge him.
Gular tried several times to pass Kressley, but each bid fell short.
The caution came out when Doug Manmiller stopped in the first turn on the 18th lap. On the restart Kressley hopped the third turn cushion which gave Gular an opportunity to pass him, but Kressley quickly regrouped to hold his position. Kressley commented in victory lane, “he knew Gular wasn’t going to get him on the inside and he picked up his pace when Gular showed him the nose of the car.”
With ten laps to go Frank Cozze, who started 13th, joined the front row action to make it a three-way battle. Krummel and Duane Howard, who had to go pit side with a flat right-rear tire on the second lap, but was able to rejoin the action in time, diced for the remaining positions.
Even though there seemed to be an overabundance of caution flags, Kressley kept everyone at bay and pulled into the winner’s circle for the second time in May. Finishing a close second was Gular followed by Cozze, Howard and Craig Von Dohren.
Trapper Jr., Cozze and Krummel won the heats. The consi went to Kyle Weiss.
Pfeil wasted no time keeping the Dave “Crazy” Yost owned No. 72 ahead of Bryon Sites, Chuck Schutz, Dave Ogin and Lou Egrie at the drop of the green in the Late Model feature
Defending point champion Schutz, took over second on the second lap to take chase after Pfeil leaving Sites, Egrie and Danny Snyder behind.
The red was thrown when Sites’ car caught fire on the homestretch on the 12th lap. He quickly exited the burning car and was uninjured. Pfeil was still the leader on the restart with Schutz giving him no room to slip-up.
Schutz, who drifted up high in turn one the previous lap stopped in the third turn for the yellow on the 14th circuit as his bad luck streak. This next attempt put Pfeil and teammate Merkel one and two and Pfeil knew he was there.
The second red came out on lap 17th when Drew Weisser hit the first turn wall with heavy impact and then Jordan Knepp, unable to avoid him made contact. All drivers were injured, but their cars sustained heavy damage. Pfeil led the pack to the green on the restart and within a few laps had a comfortable lead built up.
No one could catch Pfeil as he was able to get back in victory lane for the first time since August 19, 2017. Finishing second was Kyle Merkel followed by Lou Egrie, Danny Snyder and Steve Wilson.
It didn’t take Kyle Lilick long to go from second to first in the beginning of the sportsman feature while Nathan Mohr, Kenny Bock, Swinehart and Ryan Beltz followed suit for the running order behind him.
Mohr spun in the second turn for the ninth lap caution. On the restart Swinehart went close to the fourth turn boilerplate to get a good run and was successful at becoming the new leader.
With Swinehart showing the way, Lilick, Craig Whitmoyer, Brad Grim and Bock rounded out the top five.
Lilick was closing the gap Swinehart had built up as the race went on and by the 18th lap he reeled him in.
The lead changed for the third and final time on the 21st lap and now Swinehart diced with Whitmoyer for second as the top three were bumper to bumper.
Lilick never faltered and went on to claim the win. Whitmoyer took over second with one to go followed by Swinehart, Grim and Bock, for his best finish.
Heats were won by Lilick, Andrew Kreis and Mohr.
Come Saturday, June 2, the NASCAR racers will be back in action with a tripleheader show that will feature the excitement of T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. With at least 12 events of racing planned fans can figure on a great night of racing entertainment. Adult fans pay just $15 for a ticket that gives them a seat with a clear view of all the exciting action taking place on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. Youngsters under 12 are admitted free. There is free parking on the grounds of the speedway. And active military are always welcomed free or charge with proper ID.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the first event of racing set to take to the track at 7:30 p.m.
And on Sunday (June 3) the Outlaw Enduros and Blast from the Past Vintage Cars will try again to get their first show of the season in with a 1 p.m. starting time. Racing action for the Enduros will include Twin 50’s for the Big Cars and Twin 50’s for the Small Cars. The Junk Yard Cars will perform in a 50-lap Enduro and there will be a 10-lap main event for the Lady racers. The Blast from the Past Vintage Cars will make up the second part of the show. Adult admission is just $10 with kids under 12 admitted free.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SET FOR TWO BIG NIGHTS OF RACING ACTION ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 22, 2018 . . . NASCAR sanctioned short track stock car racing will be the attraction at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night (May 26) kicking off two big nights of dirt track racing as part of Memorial Day weekend excitement.
The Saturday night show will feature the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Sportsman and Late Models. The tripleheader card of excitement will have racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
At least 12 events of stock car racing will be presented with 28 cars going to the starting line in the 30-lap Modified feature race while Late Models and Sportsman will each race in 25-lap main events after a full series of qualifying events.
Modified point leader Brett Kressley will be looking for his second win of the season with strong competition coming from the likes of Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Mike Gular, Frank Cozze and a host of other talents.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. and that is when the Low Down and Dirty Internet radio show will be presenting their weekly Meet and Greet with drivers and cars on display. This week Sportsman racers Nathan Mohr and Ken Eckert Jr. will be there along with Modified talent Justin Grim.
Admission for the Saturday night action packed racing is just $15 for adults while youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE. There is free parking on the speedway grounds.
And the second part of the Memorial Day weekend action at Grandview will feature the first Pioneer Pole Buildings Thunder on the Hill Racing Series events on Sunday, May 27th with the 21st Annual Traffic Jam Big Block/Small Block Modifieds main event, a 40-lapper paying $5,000 to win, topping the show. Also included will be the Sportsman stock cars along with the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. Gates open at 5 p.m. while starts at 7:30 p.m.
Fans will have the opportunity to see top names in Modified stock car racing along with rising stars in Sportsman and Sprint car racing in the Sunday action.
Adult admission is $25 while youngsters 6 – 11 paying $10. Kids under 6 are admitted free. Admission to the pit area, no license required, is $35.

WHELEN ENGINEERING NIGHT FEATURES 4 DIVISIONS OF AUTO RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 18, 2018 . . . Just 32 points separate the top five racers in the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified point standings at Grandview Speedway with young Brett Kressley leading the way with 557 tallies. All five racers and many more will be looking to improve their standings in the battle for the lucrative NASCAR and Track championships as stock car racing gets the green flag on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
The night of racing will be sponsored by longtime NASCAR supporter, Whelen Engineering.
Current champion Craig VonDohren, a ten time champion, is just 17 points behind the leader. Mike Gular, looking to become a first time titleholder is third with 538 counters just 19 points behind followed by DIRT Hall of Famer Frank Cozze and another ten time champion Jeff Strunk. Only Kressley has visited victory lane in the two nights of point racing run so far this season.
Actually there will be four divisions of auto racing competition including the Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman and the added attraction of the Blast from the Past Vintage Racers.
Danny Snyder is on top of the standings with the Late Models while Brad Grim holds the top spot in the Sportsman division.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (May 13, 2018) – It’s that time of the year for honoring the American flag, enjoying a barbecue, tail-gating and taking in a night on the hill with a show of Modified, Sportsman and Sprint Car Racing all in one night. Thanks to the Thunder Series sponsor NAPA Auto Parts and race event sponsor Pioneer Pole Buildings, it will all happen at the Grandview Speedway on Sunday night, May 27 as the 29th season of Thunder on the Hill takes the first green flag of the season.
It’s an exciting Memorial Day holiday weekend for Grandview Speedway race fans; as this is more than just a race, the Sunday, May 27 event will showcase the 21st Annual Pioneer Pole Buildings TRAFFIC JAM. This event is just loaded with prestige and is one of those events every modified driver wants to add to their resume of greatest wins. Who won this event in the past ?
Previous Traffic JAM winners include Brett Hearn a four-time winner and the inaugural victor in 1998. Other TRAFFIC JAM winners include Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Horton, Tim McCreadie, Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Alan Johnson, Frank Cozze, Rick Laubach, Danny Johnson, Tim Fuller and the youngest Traffic Jam winner, 25-year-old Brett Kressley of Orefield, PA, the 2017 defending winner of this event.
Kressley, off to a strong start in 2018 would like nothing more then to make it a back-to-back Traffic Jam victory.
With a 7:30 PM start time, the Thunder Series kick-off show includes three exciting racing divisions competing on the Berks County dirt track – with the 40-lap Traffic Jam paying $5,000-to-win, $1,000 for tenth and $500 to start the Modified main event, a $1,300-to-win Sportsman showdown, and the MASS Sprint Car Series.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (May 6, 2018) – Barbecues, burgers, and Big-Block vs Small-Block Modifieds highlight an exciting Memorial Day holiday weekend for Grandview Speedway race fans; with the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series opening its season on Sunday, May 27 with the 21st Annual Pioneer Pole Buildings TRAFFIC JAM.
With a 7:30 PM start time, the Thunder Series kick-off show includes three exciting racing divisions competing on the Berks County dirt track – with a 40-lap, $5,000-to-win, $500 to start Modified main event, a $1,300-to-win Sportsman showdown, and the MASS Sprint Car Series.
While the winner takes home the largest portion of the lucrative TRAFFIC JAM , a generous payout is available to all competitors. $1,000 will go to the 10th place finisher, and $500 to start the 40 lap feature event.

KRESSLEY, ARNOLD AND TODOROW WIN FEATURES AND BEAT MA NATURE AT GRANDVIEW SATURDAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. May 6, 2018 . . . Racing action on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway was interrupted by a few rain delays, but track crew and management dealt with the situation and through the cooperation of all drivers and everyone involved, a complete show was presented and Ma Nature was defeated.
Brett “The Threat” Kressley, who captured his last win at the 1/3-mile oval on September 9, 2017, jumped into the lead on the 17th lap restart and withstood runner-up Jeff Strunk’s challenges to post his first win of the season in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature.
In the 25-lap Sportsman feature Brad Arnold inherited the lead when leader Dylan Swinehart was put back two positions prior to the fifth lap restart for aggressive driving. Arnold, who suffered a blown engine in warmups back on April 21 and couldn’t compete in the events, went on to hold off the bids of fast approaching Craig Whitmoyer for his first win of the year. Arnold last stood in the winner’s circle on June 25, 2016.
Steve Todorow scored his second career victory by taking hoe the checkered in the 25-lap Late Model feature. His last win was September 3, 2016.
All three feature winners received monetary awards courtesy of T.P. Trailers and VP Racing Fuels presented merchandise bonuses if any of the winners used their products. In order to receive the items the winners had to meet the necessary requirements. The Dan’s Deli half-way hoagie awards went to Brett Gilmore, Modified; Brad Arnold, Sportsman and Steve Todorow, Late Model.
All three feature winners along with another star studded field of Modifieds, Sportsman and Late Models will return to action on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
Brett Gilmore outgunned polesitter Dan Waisempacher for the early lead in the Modified main event trailed by Joe Fanelli, Mike Kellner and Ray Swinehart.
Ray Swinehart brought out the first caution on the seventh lap when he broke in the fourth turn. Doug Manmiller, who had nowhere to go, spun to avoid contact. It was still B. Gilmore showing the way when action resumed being chased by Waisempacher, Kressley, Fanelli and Strunk.
Kressley advanced to second to put his bids in for the top spot on the 11th lap restart needed when Duane Howard stopped in the fourth turn with a flat tire.
The red was thrown on lap 17 after Waisempacher, who was falling back positions as the race progressed, rode the first turn outside wall on his roof. He was uninjured. On the next attempt Kressley got a run on B. Gilmore coming off the third turn to take over first. Gilmore, trying to regain first, spun in the second turn in front of the others to regroup the field and void the restart.
Once again the restart had to be called back when a multi-car accident blocked turns one and two. Finally action resumed with Kressley at the head of the pack, but by this time Strunk, Kellner, Ryan Grim and Craig VonDohren completed the top five.
It seemed like every time Strunk had momentum going and was reeling Kressley in the yellow came out. This time it was when Kyle Weiss spun along the front chute on lap 19. Kressley wasted no time keeping Strunk at bay on the restart.
Everyone got another opportunity to overtake Kressley with five laps to go after another flat tire caused Howard to stop in turn four. Kressley was determined to keep the competition behind him and that’s what he did until the checkered fell on his third career win. Chasing him across the line were Strunk, Grim, VonDohren and Mike Gular, who started deep in the pack in the 24th spot after qualifying through the consi.
Ray Swinehart, VonDohren, B. Gilmore and Kressley were the heat winners. Consi winners were Tim Buckwalter and Jared Umbenhauer, who later scratched out of the feature before it started.
Nathan Mohr set the pace for two laps in the Sportsman feature before Louden Reimert stopped in turn three for the third lap caution. On the restart Swinehart made his way to the front from third and Mohr fell to third since Arnold followed through for second at the same time.
A fourth turn tangle on lap five that involved Mark Kemmerer, Nathan Brinker and Reimert caused another yellow. Before action resumed officials placed Swinehart back two spots for an earlier incident.
This turn of events relined the pack with Arnold the new leader followed by Mohr, Swinehart and Jack Butler.
Behind Arnold the battle for second brewed between Butler and Craig Whitmoyer. This allowed Arnold to build up a comfortable lead.
After a heated dual, Whitmoyer finally cleared Butler and took chase after Arnold.
No one could reel Arnold in to pressure him and he scored his third career win. Finishing second was Whitmoyer followed by Butler, Brad Brightbill and Brad Grim.
Heats were won by Butler, Ryan Beltz and Arnold. Mike Lisowski won the consi.
In the 25-lap Late Model feature Drew Weisser took the early lead and set the pace for seven laps until he went too high coming off the fourth turn an before he regained control, Todorow and Wayne Pfeil got past him for first and second respectively.
Behind Todorow and Pfeil, Weisser, Danny Snyder and Lou Egrie diced for positions.
Pfeil challenged Todorow on occasion, but Todorow always pulled away.
Once Todorow took control he never looked back and he was able to chalk up his second career win trailed by Pfeil, Snyder, Egrie and Chuck Schutz.

TRIPLEHEADER NASCAR STOCK CAR RACING ACTION AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY NIGHT
START OF MONTH OF MAY RACING WILL INCLUDE STARTING TIME CHANGE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 24, 2018 . . . The battle for the lucrative NASCAR and track point titles is underway at Grandview Speedway and it all continues on Saturday night (April 28) with a tripleheader card of NASCAR stock car racing.
Featured in the 7 p.m. Saturday show on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval will be the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars with a full slate of qualifying events leading up to a 30-lap feature for the Modifieds and 25-lap features for the other divisions of stock car racing.
Five time track champion Duane Howard is off to a strong start with a second place finish to winner Ryan Watt last Saturday in the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds. Watt is also expected to return to try for a second win in a row. Defending and ten time champion Craig VonDohren earned a fifth and Jeff Strunk, another ten time champion, earned a top ten finish. They are all expected to put on quite a chase for the lucrative track and NASCAR titles.
Others with strong showings last Saturday were veteran Frank Cozze, Mike Gular, Kevin Hirthler, Brett Kressley, Ryan Grim and a number of others. Close to 40 Modifieds were on hand for the Saturday action and most are expected back for this Saturday’s action as the point battle moves on.
Danny Snyder, who made a winning return to Grandview Late Model racing last Saturday, is expected to be a strong contender for that division title as will be Kyle Merkel, Lou Egrie, Rick Todorow and a host of others. Defending champion Chuck Schutz had mechanical issues keep him out of action last weekend but is expected back on Saturday. And in Sportsman action Brian Hirthler is looking for his second straight title against contenders such as Brad Grim, winner last Saturday night, Jim Housworth, young Louden Reimert, Craig Whitmoyer and a host of others.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet three drivers and get a close look at their race cars. Sportsman racer B.J. Joly, Late Model talent Jordan Knepp and veteran Modified racer Danny Erb will be doing the Low Down and Dirty Internet Radio Meet and Greet at the main ticket gate at 5 p.m.
Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing action starting at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters under 12 are admitted free. Pit admission, NASCAR license required, is $30.
Fans are reminded that the starting time will change effective with the Saturday, May 5th tripleheader when racing will get the green at 7:30 p.m.
Coming up on Sunday, May 6th, will be the first Outlaw Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage doubleheader with a 1 p.m. starting time. The first two scheduled events fell victim to the weather.
