THIRD ANNUAL VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MEMORIAL PAYING $7,500 TO WIN SET AT GRANDVIEW JUNE 20

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 14, 2020. . . Practice is over and racing, actual racing, is ready to be run.

The Third Annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker is set for Saturday, June 20 at Grandview Speedway and it rewards the winner with at least $7,500 and that is quite an incentive for the dozens of racers expected to be on hand. The big money event will mark the official start of the 58th consecutive season of stock car racing at the Berks County clay oval. Every racer that makes the starting field earns $1,000 or more. And there just may be more money offered before race day. However the honor of winning the 50-lap Small Block/Big Block Modified race could very well mean more to the winner than the big bucks.

Rogers, the man who built the one-third-mile, banked clay track along with his father, was one of the most respected auto racing promoters in the business. And he was very well respected by the competitors. During his 55 years of running the popular auto racing facility he was able to bring it to national notoriety. It is one of the most successful short track racing operations in nation and has continued under the operation of members of the Rogers family since he passed away.

Many well-known racing talents have expressed interest in being a part of this event which will kick off the 58th consecutive season of stock car racing at the Bechtelsville oval. In addition to track regulars such as Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig Von Dohren, Doug Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer, Colt Harris, Mike Lisowski, Skyler Sherrif, Dan Wasenpacher, and others. There are a number of visitors expected to be part of the action.

A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the 50-lap main event. Sportsman stock cars will be featured as the second part of the show. Rules can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com.

Racers planning to participate are requested to pre-enter (no entry fee) by telephoning or texting 484-256-4375. There is no license required and it is a non-point event. Please provide driver’s name, contact information and phone number to assist in the promotion of the event. Complete details, information sheet, can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com at Bruce Rogers Memorial.

Drivers and owners are asked to please go to www.grandviewspeedway.com and print off the W-2 form and return it to the pit office on opening day. A W-9 form must have been provided to officials in order to participate in the pill drawing.

Ticket prices for the June 20 special event are $28 for adults, $5 for youngsters 6 thru 11 and those under 6 will be admitted FREE. Pit admission is $40. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing action getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Pits open at 4 p.m.

It is recommended that all attending wear a mask when they cannot practice social distancing but it is not mandatory. Also there is no COVID-19 waiver to be signed for the event.

Fans that are not sitting with family members are asked to practice social distancing. There are ample seating areas to do that when possible.”

Attendees are being asked, if possible, to provide exact change for tickets, pit passes and items being purchased at concession stands.

In addition it is suggested that those who do not feel well or feel uncomfortable being around others please do not attend.

Non-smokers are reminded that their section is located within the non-alcohol section of the grandstands.

Anyone wishing to camp may do so Saturday overnight. All campers must be off the property the next day.

Coming up on Saturday, June 27th, is a tripleheader show featuring the T.P.Trailers Modifieds, T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman and Blast from the Past Vintage racers starting at 7:30 p.m.

Information on Grandview Speedway can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com, Facebook or at 610.754.7688.

The one-third-mile, banked clay track is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.

THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

HEALTH & SAFETY OF FANS AND COMPETITORS FIRST, NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES PREPS FOR 31ST SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA – When the 2020 racing season at Grandview Speedway begins, NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series officials are hoping to offer their entire scheduled season of events at the Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania dirt track. We are experiencing unprecedented times and we ask everyone to follow the recommendations to keep yourself, family and friends safe until we see our way out of this pandemic.

“We hope to be back racing in time for our May 24 Modified Traffic Jam event, but our priority right now is the health and safety of our fans, competitors, and staff,” Co-promoter Bob Miller said.

Due to the guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Grandview Speedway is on a temporary delay to the start of their racing season.

Major sports leagues, NASCAR, and IndyCar Series are on hold indefinitely and several major sporting events have been cancelled.

“We’re all very excited about the events prepared for the 31st season of NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series events, and currently all of our events are planned to continue,” Miller said.

“I recently took part in a call with USAC and all participating tracks on their schedule and the Eastern Storm is still planned, along with the return of the USAC Midgets later in the year,” said Miller. The plan is to evaluate the situation every two week.

The 2020 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is scheduled to open on Sunday, May 24, with the 23rd Annual Modified Traffic Jam joined by the Sportsman.

The second event of the Thunder on the Hill schedule is Tuesday, June 9 when the USAC AMSOIL National Non-Wing Sprint Car Series returns for Eastern Storm. In a statement released on March 25 USAC said, “USAC and its partner race track are working on a revolving two-week outlook on the upcoming races on the schedule and not wanting to make a decision too soon or too late.”

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series continues on Tuesday, June 30 with the Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek Hodnett Cup for the 410 Sprint Cars; the USAC Midgets return for the Ken Brenn Midget Masters on Tuesday, August 4; Levan Machine and Truck Equipment presented the All Star Circuit of Champions on Thursday, August 27 – all of these events include NASCAR 358 Modifieds as the co-headlining class. The series wraps up on Saturday, October 17 with the Mods at the Madhouse Triple 20s for the Modifieds.

“Right now, the best thing we can do is stay home, with our families and be safe. We will keep everyone updated as necessary and urge everyone to follow along at www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com and on our social media channels.”

BOBBY GUNTHER WALSH SEEKS THAT ELUSIVE FIRST FEATURE WIN; WILL KICK OFF HIS 26TH SEASON IN THE VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MONEY MAKER MEMORIAL AT GRANDVIEW APRIL 4

BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 6, 2020 . . . Close but no cigar just may describe Bobby Gunther Walsh’s stock car racing career. Though he has won a number of qualifying events he has not grabbed a win in a main event.

The popular, very popular, racer will be giving it another try in 2020 when he goes racing with the NASCAR T.P.Trailers Modifieds at Grandview Speedway. This will be his 26th year of racing and he is looking forward to it.

The WAEB-790 AM radio personality continues to be the number one on air personality at the Allentown in the Lehigh Valley area. He has been behind the microphone for close to 40 years and his show can also be seen on Service Electric Cable TV and Blue Ridge Cable.

And he continues to be one of the most popular racing talents seen in action on the one-third-mile, banked clay track each Saturday night throughout the season. When the events are over it is not difficult to find Walsh in the pit area as there is always a long line of fans visiting with him and collecting some of the free stuff provided by his many sponsors that he gives away.

The veteran racer would love to earn that first feature win this season at the NASCAR sanctioned racing facility. “I get a great deal of personal satisfaction out of racing, driving the race car, the challenges there are and just being out there racing against so many great talents, “said the Allentown resident.

When asked his age, Gunther responded with, “I graduated with Fred Flintstone so that should give you an idea of how old I am.” In other words he did not want to share that secret information with us.

His charity work continues to be very important to Bobby. He is actively involved with Allentown Rescue Mission (Helping homeless Men and their families) $155,000 raised in 2019 serving Gunther’s homemade meatballs. I have known Bobby for years and I am still waiting for him to ship me a few meatballs.

Animals In Distress (No Kill Shelter) $160,000 raised in 2019 with the Radiothon

Children’s Home of Easton (Helping abused/abandoned children) $170,000 raised plus Christmas presents with the WAEB Children’s Home Christmas Party

The Center For Animal Health and Welfare (No Kill Shelter) $115,000 raised with the annual Bowl-A-Thon held at one of his sponsors (Jordan Lanes) locations.

The Blue Star Mothers was Bobby’s veterans charity in 2019 (It is switched every couple of years). They average around $50,000 each year.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year MC/PR and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man and Woman of the Year MC/PR

And there are a host of other smaller events.

ResQ Natural Supplements, Dr. Eric Lebby & Dr. Thomas Dibenedetto, Orthopedic Specialists, Agentis Kitchen and Bath, Eden East, Paul Wright Roofing, Zongora Comfort Solutions, Just Born/Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales top the list of almost three dozen sponsors.

This season Bobby will be driving a 2019 Bicknell powered by Outlaw Engines. The always sharp looking racer will be prepared and housed by Rick Fenstermaker and his crew.

At the track, the crew is headed by Greg “Speedy” Saeger supported by Paul Rupert, Randy Miller, Joe Walsh and newcomer Travis Boyer. As Bobby is quick to point out none of the racing is possible without great efforts by the crews and great support from sponsors.

Bobby Gunther will be kicking off his 26th season of racing with the Third Annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Marker Memorial at Grandview which rewards the winner with $7,500 and the prestige of winning a race named after the late popular track owner.

Adult admission for the Rogers Memorial is $28 while pit admission is $40.

Grandview Speedway will kick off their regular season schedule of NASCAR racing on Saturday, April 11th featuring T.P.Trailer Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman. Racing will start at 7 p.m.

Enduro and Vintage racing is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.

And there is the annual free-to-the public practice session, open to all divisions, set for 12 noon on March 28th. Pit admission is $30.

The complete schedule of Grandview events for 2020 can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com. The track telephone number, for information, is 610.754.7688.

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MEMORIAL MONEY MAKER CLASSIC AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY OFFERS $7,500 TO WIN AND $1,000 TO MAKE THE FIELD FOR THE 50 LAPPER

NEW ON SPEEDWAY GROUNDS CAMPING RULES IN PLACE

BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 1, 2020 . . . One of the most talked about and most anticipated race events to be presented at Grandview Speedway each season marking the start of the 58th consecutive season of racing is set to happen when the Third Annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker Classic is presented on Saturday, April 4.

The race, a 50-lapper on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval, will feature the Small Block Modifieds going up against Big Block Modifieds (Combined Modifieds) with the winner walking off with at least $7,500.

Pits will open at 2 p.m. while grandstand gates will be ready for business at 5 p.m. The green flag falls at 7 p.m.

New Yorker Matt Sheppard was the big winner over a field of more than 50 entries in 2019.

Both Duane Howard, Grandview’s NASCAR track champion in 2019, and Craig Von Dohren, winner of many events and championships at the Bechtelsville clay track, like the fact that the race pays $7,500 to win. And they like that every racer that makes the main event will go home with at least $1,000.

The Rogers Memorial, as in the past, is expected to attract quite a few outsiders as they seek the big bucks for the win and the prestige of winning the Classic named in memory of the late track owner. But of course the weekly regulars joining Howard and VonDohren is expected to include Doug Manmiller, Brett Kressley, Jared Umbenhauer, Kevin Hirthler, Ray Swinehart, and Kenny Gilmore along with many others.

Also attracting a lot of attention will be a strong field of the popular TP Truck Equipment Sportsman stock cars making up the second part of this special doubleheader event.

Those wishing to enter the race, there is no license required and no entry fee, can do so at www.grandviewspeedway.com.

The rain date is set for Saturday, April 11th.

As in the past campers will be allowed on the speedway grounds on race days. However the campers must be removed by the day following the event. No longer will campers be allowed to stay on the speedway grounds all season. If campers are not removed they will be towed off the property.

If the rain date is not needed the first of the weekly series of NASCAR sanctioned championship events will be presented with the TP Trailers Modifieds and TP Truck Equipment Sportsman taking part. This will be the regular Saturday night attraction throughout the season plus added attractions from time to time. Adult admission for the regular Saturday night events will be $15 while youngster under 12 being admitted for FREE.

The annual free-to-the-public practice session, open to all divisions of racing, is set for Saturday, March 28th at noon.

2020 RACE DATES SET FOR 31ST SEASON OF THE NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . . . The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will return to the Grandview Speedway in 2020 for its thirty-first season. Another year of premier events will make-up the 2020 Thunder Series to include all the fan-favorite shows, plus the first-ever Trick or Treat Triple 20's for Modifieds joined by the Sportsman to highlight the October MODS at the MADHOUSE season finale.

The Thunder on the Hill Racing Series has presented 137 events since its inception in August 1990 and is known for bringing the top racing divisions and top touring series to Grandview Speedway. In 2020, that tradition continues with the USAC Non-Wing Sprints and Midgets, the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speed Week Series, Tony Stewart's All Star Circuit of Champions, and the Grandview NASCAR 358 Modifieds all scheduled for events.

In the past, the Thunder Series also presented the WoO Sprints and Late Models, SCRA, CRA, DirtCar, ROC Modifieds, ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, and MASS Sprint cars. In most cases, these events have two top divisions sharing the main event, making it a must-see show.

The 2020 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will open on Sunday, May 24, with the 23rd Annual Modified Traffic Jam joined by the Sportsman. The series continues on Tuesday, June 9, when the USAC AMSOIL National Non-Wing Sprint Car Series invades Grandview for the annual Jesse Hockett Classic, co-headlined by the NASCAR 358 Modifieds. A fan-favorite event, the USAC non-wing stars put on a race like no other at the Grandview Speedway.

Always one of the most anticipated events at Grandview is the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speedweek alongside the NASCAR 358 Modifieds on Tuesday, June 30. The Speedweek 35 lap feature, known as the Hodnett Cup, is dedicated to the memory of sprint car great Greg Hodnett. Fabricated from one of Greg's many trophies, the Hodnett Cup includes a base where names of future Hodnett Cup winners will be engraved. As a perpetual trophy, it will be available on race day for the Victory Lane celebration. The race winner's name and event date are added, and the trophy will be on display year-round at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds.

The USAC Non-Wing Midgets will return to Grandview and the Thunder Series for the 2nd Annual Ken Brenn Midget Masters on Tuesday, August 4. In 2019, the USAC Midgets put on thriller on a track that many fans say was designed for the Midgets. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds are also scheduled for this program.

Levan Machine and Truck Equipment will again present Tony Stewart's All Star Circuit of Champions on Thursday, August 27, for the national touring series' fifth consecutive appearance at Grandview. The All Star 410 Sprints will chase a $5,000 first-place prize to win the 35 lap feature event. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be on the program as well.

The 2020 season finale will close out with the Mods at the Madhouse Trick or Treat Triple 20s for Modifieds. That's right; heat races will open the program leading to three twenty-lap Modified features in one night. The Sportsman will be part of this event on Saturday, October 17.
