JERSEY RUSH VI RESULTS

HODNETT AND GODOWN CLAIM JERSEY RUSH VI VICTORIES TUESDAY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY

NEW EGYPT, NJ (August 23, 2016) – Greg Hodnett of Thomasville, PA and Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ felt the RUSH of victory at New Egypt Speedway this past Tuesday Night, as NAPA Auto Parts and Pioneer Pole Building presented JERSEY RUSH VI – a thrilling doubleheader of racing action featuring the 410 Sprint Cars and a Big-Block vs. Small-Block Modified Challenge.

Davey Sammons (WoS photo)

Davey Sammons of Burlington, NJ selected the first starting position in a blind draw by the top qualifiers with Hodnett starting on the outside of the front row. Hodnett shot to the top spot on the first circuit with Sammons, and Ryan Smith pulling away from the remainder of the field.

The action slowed for the first time on lap 3 for Ryan Godown – the only competitor to compete in both the 410 Sprint and Modified Jersey Rush feature events.

The line-up remained unchanged after the single-file restart with Hodnett leading Sammons and Smith. With the race leaders setting a rapid pace, all eyes were on the fourth position where Kevin Nagy, Lucas Wolfe, and Kyle Reinhardt battled three-wide.

Hodnett weaved in-and-out of lapped traffic on the seventh circuit as Sammons closed on the race leader.

The red flag flew on lap ten as Mechanicsburg, PA’s Lucas Wolfe got the Allebach Racing No. 5w upside down while running fifth.

Greg Hodnett (WoS photo)

Hodnett remained in control on the restart with Sammons and Smith in tow. Kyle Reinhardt made a bold move to claim the fourth position, taking the McClaren Motorsports No. 21 three-wide to take the spot.

The Lealands.com No. 27 machine of Hodnett was well in control when the action slowed for the final time on lap 21.

It was all Hodnett on the restart coasting around lapped traffic and claiming the $5,000 Jersey Rush VI top prize. Tuesday's event marks Hodnett’s second consecutive Jersey Rush victory.

Sammons finished a strong second as Ryan Smith came home in the third spot, recovering from a wild ride at this event in 2015; JJ Grasso finished in fourth, after a late race charge; and Kyle Reinhardt finished in the fifth position.

Ryan Godown (WoS photo)

“The Ringoes Rocket” Ryan Godown claimed his third New Egypt Speedway Modified victory of the season after starting on the outside of the first row. Bechtelsville, PA’s Jeff Strunk led his No. 126 machine to the initial green flag, leading the early portion of the event.

Strunk held off challenges from track regulars including Godown, Dominick Buffalino, and Billy Pauch. But ultimately it was Godown claiming the top spot at the 8th circuit around the Ocean County d-shaped dirt track.

The yellow flag slowed the action on lap 17 for Chris Grbac who slowed and eventually stopped outside turn two.

Strunk overtook the top spot on the restart before another caution flew high above New Egypt Speedway. While under yellow flag conditions, New Egypt Speedway officials docked Strunk two positions for jumping the earlier restart.

Godown inherited the lead with Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch running in the second position and Dominick Buffalino in third.

The action slowed on lap 21 for a multi-car tangle in the fourth turn.

Godown took control on the restart and sailed to victory holding off all-time New Egypt Speedway Modified feature winner Billy Pauch. Jeff Strunk rebounded for a third place finish; Dominick Buffalino finished in fourth, and Billy Pauch Jr. charged from the 24th starting position to finish in the top five.

Greg Hodnett claimed the CnB Chubby Quick Time Award with a lap of 14.139.

Collecting $200 in the Oliver Communications Group 410 Sprint Car Heat Races was Kevin Nagy and Joe Kata. Kata also collected $300 for winning the Oliver Communications Dash for Cash. Modified Heat Races were won by John McClelland, Billy Pauch, and Frank Cozze – all of which collected $200 from Oliver Communications Group.

JJ Grasso won the Thayer Performance Burning Rubber Bonus Hard Charger Award picking up a free right rear Hoosier Racing Tire courtesy of Thayer Performance.

Art Leidl was awarded a $300 bonus for being the highest finishing 360 Sprint Car.

Jersey Rush VI is a co-promotion between Lenny, Danny and Davey Sammons, along with special events promoter, Bob Miller.
