VON DOHREN AND BRIGHTBILL REPEAT GRANDVIEW NASCAR WINNERS – UNDERCOFFLER AND GARRIS SR. WIN BLAST FROM THE PAST VINTAGE RACES
BECHTELSVILLE, PA – MAY 5, 2019 . . . Craig Von Dohren and Brad Brightbill became the first repeat winners of the season on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway when they each won the features in their respective classes and were also able to beat out the forecasted rain.
The Blast From The Past Vintage feature saw former late model/modified driver Jamie Undercoffler win the Modified portion while Mike Garris Sr. won the Vintage class.
The ironic part with Von Dohren and Brightbill is they both won their first features of the year on the same night in April and now shared their second victories on the same night.
Ten-time NASCAR Modified point champion Von Dohren piloted the Nick Gatto-powered No. 1C in front of leader Ryan Lilick at the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie segment of the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature and went on to chalk up his 107th Saturday night career win ahead of runner-up Doug Manmiller, who finally had a change of luck to post a decent finish.
Brightbill overtook Tom Miller, who returned to the racing wars after a two-year hiatus, on the 15th lap restart of the TP Truck Equipment 25-lap Sportsman NASCAR feature to garner his second victory which was his seventh career win at the track.
Providing all feature winners met the necessary requirements, the Modified and Sportsman feature winner received monetary awards from TP Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards
Bobby Gunther Walsh set the pace for one lap of the Modified feature before the red flag was thrown for a backstretch incident. Bobby Trapper Jr.’s car suddenly slowed and he was trying to pull into the infield. Cars scrambled and were left with nowhere to go. For the second week in a row Jeff Strunk and Brett Kressley were victims of circumstances and eliminated from action as well as Alex Yankowski, Steve Swinehart and Danny Erb. When action went back to green again, Ryan Lilick was the new pacesetter trailed by Gunther Walsh, Dan Waisempacher, Jared Umbenhauer and Briggs Danner.
Duane Howard, last week’s feature winner who was in the backstretch skirmish earlier but rejoined the race, brought out the next yellow with three laps complete. A piece of sheet metal came off the car on the backstretch. Gunther Walsh regained the lead, but one lap later Lilick was back in front.
By the eighth lap Von Dohren, who started 14th, was on the move in second spot challenging Lilick for the lead, but the youngster kept the veteran behind him trailed by Manmiller, Waisempacher and Umbenhauer.
After battling with Lilick for seven laps, Von Dohren finally succeeded in passing him for the top spot.
Lapped traffic came into the picture by the 18th circuit as the front runners had to be [prepared.
Lilick’s stellar performance while running a solid second, ended when he came to a stop in the first turn out of contention with ten laps to go. Von Dohren was still the leader on the restart, but now Manmiller, Umbenhauer, Waisempacher and Danner completed the top five running order.
The second red flag of the event came out on the 24th lap after Umbenhauer’s throttle stuck and he hit the third turn wall with heavy impact. He was uninjured and actually drove the car back to the pit area. When action resumed Von Dohren continued to be stalked by Manmiller, Danner, Waisempacher and now Frank Cozze.
Manmiller and Danner battled fiercely for second which allowed Von Dohren to gain momentum and build up a slight edge.
Despite the fact Tim Buckwalter, running in the top ten, brought out the caution with two laps to go, Von Dohren still held the competition off and went on to the winner’s circle. Following him across the line to post their season best finishes were Manmiller, Danner, Waisempacher and Whitmoyer. Cozze received the Hard Charger coming from 28th to sixth, followed by Kenny Gilmore, driving his own car; Kevin Hirthler, Ray Swinehart, Cargo Trailers award recipient; and Kyle Weiss.
Qualifying heat winners were Gunther Walsh, Trapper Jr., Lilick and S. Swinehart. Alex Yankowski and Weiss won the consies.
Sportsman feature action saw Miller grab the early lead with pressure coming from rookie Joey Vaccaro, Nathan Mohr, Derrick Smith and Ryan Beltz.
Mohr advanced to second on the third lap restart needed after Brian Hirthler and Brad Arnold made contact in the second and Arnold spun and had to be towed off out of action.
At Dan’s Deli halfway hoagie mark the front five were comprised of Miller, Brightbill, Mohr, Butler and Mark Kemmerer.
Mohr’s night ended after Kemmerer and Mohr collided and Mohr ended up spinning into the field and had to be towed off. Brightbill motored away quickly in the Leindecker Racing Engines No. 19 with Butler now in a challenging position looking for this second win of the year. Butler made several attempts to pass Brightbill, but each attempt was void.
Once Brightbill had control he continued to show the way until he pulled in victory lane. Second through fifth were Butler, Kemmerer, Brad Grim and another rookie Kyle Smith.
Smith, Vaccaro and Brightbill won the heats. The consi went to B. Grim.
Vaccaro, who finished 12th, was the highest crate engine finisher and received an additional $100 bonus.
Todd Lapp led five laps of the Blast From the Past feature before he spun and Undercoffler inherited the lead with Andy Cassel taking over second to challenge as the yellow came out.
Undercoffler never gave up the top spot and went on the win the Modified portion followed by A. Cassel, Lapp, Bobby Hall and Henry Yeska. Seventh place finisher Mike Garris Jr. was the Vintage class winner.
T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman make up an exciting doubleheader show set for Saturday, May 11th with a 7:30 p.m. starting time. The first 50 mothers through the gate will receive a gift courtesy of the speedway as part of the Mother’s Day celebration and the youngest and oldest mom will get a free pass for a future race event. In all the events run for the Modifieds and Sportsman so far this season there has been nearly 70 race cars on hand for the two NASCAR divisions of racing and this Saturday should be no different. Adult admission is $15 with youngsters under 12 admitted free. Pit admission is priced at $30. Active military with proper ID are admitted free.
And on Saturday, May 18th the Rapid Tire United States Auto Club (USAC) East Coast Wingless Sprint cars will make their first appearance at Grandview. Making up a tripleheader night of heart stopping action will be the Modifieds and Sportsman. Adult admission is $20, youngsters 6 through 11 will be admitted for just $5 and those under 6 are admitted free.

DUANE HOWARD, FIRST TIME WINNER BRANDON EDGAR AND TIM TANNER, JR ARE FEATURE WINNERS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. APRIL 28, 2019 – The air was brisk and cool on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway, but racing action was hot and heavy for the NASCAR Modifieds and Sportsman along with the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series racers on the 1/3-mile banked-clay oval.
Five-time track Modified point champion Duane Howard put the Norm Hansell-owned No. 357 at the head of the pack on the 23rd lap of the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature and went on to capture his 73rd Saturday night career win and first of the season.
In the TP Truck Equipment 25-lap Sportsman NASCAR feature, Brandon Edgar claimed his first ever victory in the division.
The MASS feature originally scheduled to go the distance of 25-laps was cut down to 15-laps by the Sprint officials due to the excessive amount of red flag periods. In the end it was Tim Tanner Jr. taking home the win.
Close to 100 racers took part in the Saturday night events.
Rookie racer Richie Hitzler put the Joe “Geezer” Fanelli-owned No. 22 into the early lead before the red was thrown for a multi-car accident along the homestretch extending to the first turn. Cars in the front of the pack got crossed up sending the cars behind then every direction to avoid contact but was unavoidable. Frank Cozze and Brett Kressley rolled their cars as a result. Cozze made a quick pit stop and returned, but Kressley’s car sustained severe damage and he was through for the night. Also eliminated were Mike Lisowski, Frank Yankowski, Jeff Strunk and Doug Manmiller. All drivers were uninjured. When racing went back to green flag action Jordan Henn grabbed first trailed by rookie racers Louden Reimert, Alex Yankowski and Hitzler along with Tim Buckwalter.
By the 14th lap a blanket could have been thrown over the top four that now consisted of Henn, Yankowski, Reimert and Howard while Buckwalter tried to reel them in.
After a side-by-side battle brewed between Henn and Yankowski, on the 18th circuit Yankowski emerged as the new pacesetter with Howard overtaking second at the same time.
Yankowski ran the high line while Howard stuck to the inside groove trying to duck under him for the top spot.
This back and forth duel continued for five laps before Howard gained control of the lead.
Once Howard took over first he never looked back until he motored into victory lane for the win. Following Howard across the line were Yankowski, Reimert, Henn and Rick Laubach. Buckwalter, Craig Whitmoyer, Craig Von Dohren, Kyle Weiss and Hitzler completed the top ten.
The four 12-lap heat winners were Jared Umbenhauer, Henn, Kressley and Howard. Laubach and Ryan Lilick won the consies. 44 Modifieds took part in the division action.
Derrick Smith set the pace for one lap in the Sportsman feature before rookie Parker Guldin, who was a spectator for the feature last week after mechanical issues sidelined prior to the start of the feature, overtook first on the second circuit.
Guldin showed the way until Edgar charged into first on the fifth lap.
The yellow came out on the sixth lap when Smith and Jack Butler made contact on the backstretch. Edgar held his own when racing resumed, but now Beltz held down second putting his bids in for the lead.
Despite minor incidents that brought out the yellow, once Edgar had the lead he never relinquished the top spot and continued until he pulled into victory lane being chased by Beltz, Brad Grim, Brad Arnold and Brad Brightbill, last week’s feature winner. Rounding out the top ten were Mark Kemmerer, Brian Hirthler, Kenny Bock, Kyle Lilick and Guldin who received an extra $100 for being the first crate engine to cross the line.
Heats were won by Edgar, Beltz and Brightbill. All cars qualified in the consi so the win was credited to Darren Cox.

Before the first lap could be recorded in the Sprint feature the red was out for a major accident along the homestretch. All drivers were okay. Joe Kay was the leader after things were cleared.
Just after Tanner Jr. took the lead on the third lap the red was thrown again for another multi-car incident. It was still Tanner Jr. ahead on the restart followed by Kay, Keith Prutzman, Larry McVay and Logan Diehl.
The next red was when McVay, running third at the time, ended up in the catch fence between the third and fourth turn. After that incident, the race was shortened to 15 laps. Tanner Jr. remained the leader with Diehl second.
Tanner Jr. never relinquished first to cop the win in the event trailed by John Haegele, Dave Brown and Kay.
Kay, Tanner Jr. and Mark Bitner won the heats.
Another tripleheader show of stock car racing will be the attraction on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. (Please note new starting time). Featured will be the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman along with the Blast from the Past Vintage Racers. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $30.

KRACHUN AND GODOWN SCORE VAHLCO WHEELS MODIFIED WINS AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (April 28, 2019) – On Twin Twenty Night at New Egypt Speedway, Ryan Krachun and Ryan Godown scored Vahlco Wheels Modified feature wins. The Hammer Sportsman main event went to Will Dupree. Jermain Godshall came out on top of the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Car feature. Jon Meyer took the Street Stock race while Anthony Tramontana Jr. claimed the checkered flag in the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman race.
After the original start of the first 20-lap feature for the Vahlco Wheels Modifieds was scrubbed due to a caution, Blaine Bracelin took the lead on the ensuing green flag with Pat Wall and JR Fulper next in line. Tenth place starter Ryan Krachun was quickly on the move and motored into fourth on the second revolution. The caution lights were illuminated on the fourth circuit. When action resumed, Krachun drove from fourth into first with Bracelin in second and Fulper in third. Pat Wall scooted past Fulper for third on lap six. Leading the field, Krachun began to pull away as the remainder of the top five spots began to shuffle. At the halfway point, Krachun had a comfortable edge over Wall, thirteenth place starter Billy Pauch Jr., eighteenth place starter David VanHorn and twelfth place starter Danny Bouc. With Krachun continuing to set a fast pace, VanHorn was persistent in moving forward and advanced into second with only six tours left. One lap later, Krachun began to encounter slower traffic. Throughout the final five circuits, Krachun’s large advantage decreased but he went unchallenged to record his fourth career win. With VanHorn taking second, Pauch Jr. finished third. Fourth went to Wall and fifth was taken by Bouc.
With the top thirteen from the first Vahlco Wheels Modified feature inverted for the second 20-lap affair, outside pole sitter Ryan Godown darted to the front with Matt Stangle and Brandon Grosso in tow. On lap four, Billy Pauch Jr. brought out the first yellow flag of the race for a flat tire. On the resumption of racing, Godown maintained his lead with Grosso moving into second. Following another caution period, Godown, Grosso and Danny Bouc were running in the top three positions with six laps recorded. On the eighth circuit, Godown repelled a strong challenge by Grosso to keep his advantage. By lap ten and after one additional caution, Godown was still in front with Bouc slipping by Grosso for second. Two tours later and following a restart, Grosso returned to the runner-up spot with Mike Butler driving past Bouc as well to take third. Following two more appearances of the caution flag and with five laps left, the lead was in Godown’s control with Grosso, Butler, and David VanHorn in his tracks. Godown went unchallenged in the final tours to record his second win of the year. Grosso finished in the runner-up spot with third going to Butler. VanHorn came home in fourth. After his fourth lap visit to the pits to get a new tire, Pauch Jr. drove back through the field to take fifth. The Vahlco Wheels Modified heats were taken by Danny Bouc, Billy Pauch Jr. and PJ Oliver. Davey Sammons won the consolation contest.
In the 20-lap Hammer Sportsman feature, Will Dupree held off Bob Lineman Jr. on a final lap restart to record his third career victory. Jason Kosch paced his rivals for the opening two tours before Dupree hopped into the lead. With Lineman Jr. placing second, David Burns finished in third after starting the contest in ninth. Brad Roberts was fourth and twelfth place starting Steve Davis was fifth. Ryan Heim and Will Dupree were the victors in the heat races for the Hammer Sportsman.
After drawing a caution on the original start, Jermain Godshall came from last place to win the 25-lap feature for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars. Polesitter Larry Drake led the first nine revolutions before Brian Spencer grabbed the lead. Rich Mellor, who won last week’s race, took over the top running spot on lap eleven. Spencer regained the lead with four circuits left. On lap twenty-three, Godshall was able to gain first place from Spencer as he registered his second win of the season. Mellor surpassed Spencer to finish in second. Stan Ploski and Heidi Hedin completed the top five. The Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars qualifying races were captured by Larry Drake and Heidi Hedin.
Defending champion Jon Meyer took the checkered flag in the 15-lap Street Stock race. Meyer passed Bill Liedtka on the sixth tour to clinch his eighth career victory. Jim Avery finished in the runner-up spot. Bill Liedtka placed third. Mick Search and Vern McLaughlin rounded out the top five.
For the second week in a row, Anthony Tramontana Jr. triumphed in the 8-lap Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman race. Tramontana Jr., who started in fifth place, took the lead from DJ Hunt on lap two and headed the field the rest of the way. With Hunt completing the race in second, Ryan Godown Jr. was third. In the battle for fourth place, Vinny Troia outdueled Ryan Krushinski.
On Saturday, May 4, Little League Night swings into New Egypt Speedway as Little League players in uniform are admitted for free to the grandstand. On the track, the Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series makes their second appearance of the season. The Vahlco Wheels Modifieds, Crate Modifieds, 4-Cylinders and the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman complete the racing docket. The pit gates unlock at 3:00 p.m. and the spectator turnstiles open at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 5:00 p.m. with racing beginning at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for teens 12-15, $10 for military personal and their spouses with ID, and Kids 11 & under are FREE. SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS AND SPORTSMAN MAKE UP TRIPLEHEADER SHOW AT GRANDVIEW APRIL 27
STARTING TIME FOR SATURDAY NIGHT RACING CHANGES ON MAY 4
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 21, 2019 . . . Sprint cars will be in action for the first time this season when the Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series, featuring 305 Sprint racers, is part of a big tripleheader show of auto racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 27th, that will also include T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman. Racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.
Expected to see action in the Sprint car action are such popular racers as recent feature winner Bryant Davis, Rick Stief, Tim Tanner, Tom Carberry, Jeff Geiges and a host of others.
Each division of racing will include a full series of qualifying events leading up to the feature races.
Adult admission is $18 while youngsters under the age of 12 are admitted free.
Fans arriving early will have the opportunity to see a number of race cars up close and talk with a few of the racing talents as part of Low Down And Dirty Meet & Greet near the main grandstand entrance starting at 4:30 p.m. This Saturday Richie Hitzler will represent the Modifieds and Kyle Smith will be there for the Sportsman. The MASS Sprints are also expected to be represented.
The Blast from the Past Vintage Racers return to Saturday night racing on May 4th as part of a tripleheader that will also feature the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Sportsman stock cars. Starting time will move to 7:30 p.m.

STANGLE SCORES A WIN IN THE VAHLCO WHEELS MODIFIED FEATURE AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (April 21, 2019) – At New Egypt Speedway’s Plumsted Township Night, Matt Stangle scored a win in the Vahlco Wheels Modified feature. The Crate Modified feature was won by Eric Palmer. Rich Mellor collected the checkered flag in the main event for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars. Joe Garey Sr. visited victory lane after winning the 4-Cylinder race while Anthony Tramontana Jr. was the victor in the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman.
The 30-lap Vahlco Wheels Modified feature began with polesitter Brian Papiez bolting to the front with JR Fulper and Matt Stangle in tow. The top three remained in order until a pair of cautions took place on the sixth tour. When green flag racing returned, Stangle grabbed the lead with Papiez in second and Fulper in third. Mike Butler, who started the event in fourteenth, was continuing his march forward as he moved into fourth place on the eighth revolution. After an eleventh lap yellow flag for a slowing John McClelland, the ensuing restart was red flagged as Kevin Vaclavicek’s car flipped on the frontstretch and collected other competitors. Once action resumed, Stangle was still on top with Papiez in second with twelve laps completed. Sixteenth place starting Danny Bouc inched closer to the front as he passed Butler for third on the thirteenth tour. The yellow lights illuminated for the final time with eight laps to go for Fulper. As the green flag waved, Stangle held off Papiez to maintain his lead as Butler took third place from Bouc and eighteenth place starting Ryan Godown motoring into fifth. On the very next circuit, Bouc regained third from Butler. With five laps remaining, Stangle had developed a half straight away advantage over Papiez. Stangle went unchallenged the rest of the way to pick up his second career Modified feature win. Papiez’s strong run netted him the runner-up position. With Bouc finishing third, Butler was fourth and Godown was fifth. Brian Papiez, Matt Stangle and TJ Lilly claimed the Vahlco Modified heat races.
In the 20-lap Crate Modified feature, Eric Palmer catapulted to the front on the second circuit and remained on top to capture his ninth career victory. Second place went to Joseph Brown. George Gareis Jr. came from eighth place to finish in third. Ryan Heim and Aaron Weaver rounded out the top five. The Crate Modifieds heat races were won by Joseph Brown and Eric Palmer. Robby Dunn was the victor of the consolation contest.
For the third time in his career, Rich Mellor took top honors in the 25-lap Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars main event. Following a restart, Mellor overtook Brian Spencer on the sixteenth circuit and pulled away from the pack to gain the win. With Spencer taking second, Jermain Godshall was third. Heidi Hedin was fourth and Al Cheney came home in fifth. John Brammell and Brian Spencer took the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars qualifying events.
After taking the lead from Paul Hartwig on the second circuit, Joe Garey Sr. went unchallenged to capture the 15-lap 4-Cylinder race. The runner-up spot was taken by Joe Garey Jr. Mike Fox was third. Fourth went to TJ Graves with Hartwig holding on to take fifth.
Anthony Tramontana Jr. took the lead from Nick Van Wickle as the white flag waved to win his first career Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman contest. Ryan Godown Jr., who had won the first two rookie races this season, nipped Van Wickle at the line to grab second. With Van Wickle third, Ryan Krushinski was fourth and Vinny Troia was fifth.
On Saturday, April 27 at New Egypt Speedway, Premio Sausage Night will present two 20-lap features for the Vahlco Modifieds. The Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars, Hammer Sportsman, Street Stocks & Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman will be on the agenda as well. Competitors can begin to enter the pits at 3:00 p.m. with the spectator ticket window opening at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps get cranked up at 5:00 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $25 for adults, $23 for seniors 65 and older, $15 for teens 12-15, $15 for military personal and their spouses with ID, and Kids 11 & under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway license and $40 without.
