Accord, NY- Accord Speedway PERREGO AND JORDAN CAPTURE KING OF THE CATSKILLS MAIN EVENTS

The Ulster County weather was warm and breezy in the afternoon but once the sun went down a brisk chill filled the air. Nevertheless, the heated and competitive action packed racing on the speedway kept the crowd entertained throughout the King of the Catskills events. The Accord Speedway was in top form and a solid roster of drivers and a standing room only crowd proved to be a win/win for Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer to host their annual King of the Catskills event at the speedway. Working right up until race time, Gary Palmer had the pristine quarter mile clay speedplant in impeccable condition and the attention to detail enabled the solid field of Modified and Sportsman competitors to race wall to wall and then some throughout the evening of racing events. The evening of speed was headlined by sponsor Bruce Insinger and his Insinger Fuel Team. Check them out on the web at: www.insingerperformance.com

When all was said and done, the 2018 Accord Speedway Modified champion, "The Montgomery Missile" Anthony Perrego was all business as he drove from eighth starting position to and followed "Showtime" Danny Tyler for forty one laps until he made the move of the event to slip past Tyler and go on to record his first ever KotC event and with it garnering a cool $5,000.00 for a good night's work in his Superior Remodeling hot rod. Tyler, the 2017 speedway champion and defending champion of the event, settled for runner-up honors but it was a great way to finish for the talented racer who took some time off of racing during the season to re-group and the decision paid off big for Tyler. "The DC Express" Danny Creeden started from eleventh position and worked his way into contention and then engaged in a blazing battle with "Jammin" Jimmy Wells right until the end with Creeden gaining third place and Wells fourth in his Upstate Auto Wagon. "BK Speed" Brian Krummel returned to the speedway and completed the top five with a solid run. Garden Stater Steve Davis made the long tow and headed up the second five in his Premio Sausage racer. "Iron" Mike Ricci raced from 12th spot to finish seventh while Jerry Higbie was eighth, invader Frank Cozze ninth and Andy Bachetti drove into the top ten after suffering a series of problems during the evening. Twenty six Modifieds were on hand for the event with the returning Corey Lowitt scratching out early in the evening.

Speedville, New York's Dustin Jordan made his first ever Accord Speedway appearance and started from fourth spot to grab the lead after Ryan McCartney led lap number one. Jordan pushed his Firetower Doubles racer to the limit with some great moves taking it to the top in turns one and two and he broke away from the field. Some skirmishes including a hard tumble by Chris VanDuser on the backstretch slowed the action a bit but the racing was rock solid with excitement throughout. VanDuser was not injured in his incident. Each time racing resumed Jordan showed the hot hand with young guns tenth starting Cole Stangle and twelfth starting Alex Yankowski hustling through the field to run nose to tail as chased Jordan around the track. The hard drive by Stangle came to an end when he lost the handle and spin out ending his night of competition. Ninth starting "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner worked his way into contention and the 2018 track champion and defending champion of the event soon found a home on the baseline of the speedway as he came charging forward. Rohner would move into second on lap-28 and a restart gave him one shot at the win but Jordan was strong and captured his first win at the speedway in his very first attempt. Rohner would settle for second with Alex Yankowski third, Cole Hentschel fourth and Ryan McCartney completing the top five. The second five found Charles Loiodice, Kevin Stevens, Jim Housworth, Michael Corbin and Daniel Morgiewicz following.

The veteran campaigner "Quick" Willie DeGraw wasted no time in charging to the front in the 25-lap Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball Four Cylinder feature. Again, a few skirmishes here and there slowed down the event but DeGraw was in command from start to finish. DeGraw would lead wire to wire to pick up the win with Dave Donovan second, PJ Bleau third, Mike Travis fourth and newcomer Ryan Lamania fifth. Dave Bendell headed up the next five with another newcomer John Napoli, Bill Rion, Tim DeGrote, and Jeremy Warren following.

The Emmanuel's Marketplace Four Cylinder Enduro excursion found Ted DeGrote utilize his outside pole position to grab the lead. DeGrote built up a huge lead but things came to a halt when Shawn Maloney got upside down on the backstrestch. Maloney was unhurt in the incident but the car suffered sever damage front and rear. On the restart Mike Travis would take over the lead with DeGrote now second and Johnny Bankich hustling hard from a 22nd place start to move into third but a straightaway back at the time. A series of red flags slowed the action and on another restart DeGrote was back in the lead with Travis and Bankich chasing and Jeff DeGroat, who was fourth now falling off of the pace. Another restart brought the three leaders together again and they raced together for a couple of laps until again they hit slower traffic with Bankich taking the low road, Degrote the high road and leaving Travis with no wiggle room. Bankich then took command of the event and went on to win with PJ Bleau the runner-up and Ted DeGrote third.

GEMSTONES:

The showcased event of the season at Accord for the Palmer Family was another spectacular event for the successful New York promotional team now in their 18th season at operating their Ulster County facility. The racing was superb as every Modified and Sportsman heat resembled a mini feature event. The standing room only crowd came from far and wide with as many as eight states representing the statewide support of the tremendous racing activity. Parking was at a premium and the grounds were abuzz with excitement for the long awaited evening of racing at the "Gem in the Catskills". The turnstiles of fans filled the concession areas all night long as they devoured the great cuisine offered up by the speedway concessions.

Special thanks to Superior Landscaping located in Walden, New York and Yannone Enterprises from Newburgh, New York for stepping up big and adding the bonus money for the Sportsman feature event.

26 Modifieds made their way to the pit area along with 35 sportsman and 20 Fireballers and 34 Four Cylinder Enduros. Four heats were needed for the Modifieds with New Jersey invader Billy Osmun III capturing the first, Jimmy Wells getting the win in the second heat, invader from Oley, Pa Loudon Reimert winning the third and Jerry Higbie capturing the fourth. The Sportsman division cars ran four heats with RJ Smith, Travis Green, Joey Bonetti and Charles Loiodice capturing the heat wins. Two Sportsman B-Mains were needed and won by Matt Shultz and Nick Plumstead.

The Northeast Stock Car Old Timers were on hand and selling the their raffle calendars. With 80 chances to win, the twenty dollar tag seemed very reasonable. You can check out their website at: www.nescotracing.com The Capital District Deaf Center was also on hand selling their raffle tickets that will be drawn on December 8th at the Red Lion Inn.

Arnold Restivo and his sister Ann made it to their first Accord Speedway event since 1975. The only question is, "What took you so long?" Welcome back!

Chrystal and Joe Judge won the 50/50 raffle worth $449.00.

Grandma Ann's Pies were handed out to all feature winners and two raffled off courtesy of John Liggan Insurance, Wright's Farm Market, Sunday Rosendale Farmers Market and Cousin Pete Donohue.

Speedway management thanks all of our drivers and fans for a great season at the speedway.

Halloween Havoc is next up on the Accord Speedway schedule. The date is October 27th with a full itinerary of racing and fun things for the families of racing to enjoy. Hay Rides, Balloon Sculpturing, Pumpkin Painting, Kid's Costume Parade, Bike Raffle Give-a-ways.

PAUCH AND LINEMAN RECORD WINS AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY'S LEGENDS OF THE FALL

New Egypt, NJ (September 23, 2018) - At New Egypt Speedway's Legends of the
Fall, Billy Pauch Jr. took home the $7500 check after recording the win in
the Modified feature. Bob Lineman Jr. topped the field in the Crate vs.
Sportsman main event.

As the 75-lap Modified feature began, Billy Pauch Jr. motored to the front
from his third place starting spot with Jeff Strunk grabbing second. On the
second circuit, the first caution of the event took place for Anthony
Perrego's right front flat tire. When racing resumed, Pauch Jr. remained on
top with Strunk, Danny Bouc, David VanHorn and Brett Kressley next in line.

As a lengthy stretch of green flag action was evolving, the top runners
began to encounter lap traffic with twelve laps completed. By the sixteenth
tour, Pauch Jr. was masterfully weaving his way past slower competitors with
Strunk in tow while Bouc and VanHorn were in close quarters for third place.

The dicing through heavy traffic continued for Pauch Jr. and Strunk until
the top two entered some clear space with twenty-seven revolutions
completed. On lap thirty-three, the ride of Wade Hendrickson slowed down in
the first corner and the yellow lights illuminated the dirt oval. When green
flag racing returned, the top two of Pauch Jr. and Strunk stayed intact with
VanHorn passing Bouc for third and Kressley fending off Jimmy Horton for
fifth. On lap thirty-seven, eighth place running Michael Storms stopped on
the backstretch of the track after the engine expired on his ride and the
yellow flag waved again. Following the restart, the top five of Pauch Jr.,
Strunk, VanHorn, Bouc, and Kressley stayed in order. Over the next several
laps, the advantage for Pauch Jr. began to increase until the yellow flag
appeared for the lap forty-five fuel stop. During the brief break in racing,
the fifth place running Kressley went pitside and did not return. On the
restart following the short pause, Bouc lost his fourth place position due
to a spin in turn one. Following the clean resumption of racing, Pauch Jr.,
Strunk and VanHorn were still in the top three spots with Craig Von Dohren
in fourth and Horton in fifth. By lap fifty, Pauch Jr. was beginning to pull
away from his rivals. With fifteen circuits remaining, the leader was back
in the midst of lap traffic. On lap sixty-two, Frank Cozze's mount stopped
in the fourth corner. On the restart, Pauch Jr. repelled another challenge
by Strunk to remain on top with VanHorn holding onto third, Horton taking
over fourth and Mike Gular zipping into fifth. With ten laps to go, a spin
by JR Fulper stopped the action. When green flag racing returned, Pauch Jr.
remained in control with VanHorn outdueling Strunk to gain the runner-up
spot. Entering the closing moments of the feature, Pauch Jr. was
comfortably in command until a mechanical failure on Strunk's ride brought
out the last yellow flag of the race with only three laps remaining. After
the single file restart, Pauch Jr. held off VanHorn in the final laps to
register his twenty-first career victory at New Egypt Speedway. VanHorn, the
2018 Modified champion, came home in second. Horton held off a hard charge
by Gular to take third. With the seventeenth place starting Gular finishing
fourth, fifth was taken by Von Dohren. Danny Bouc, Ryan Godown, TJ Lilly and
Brett Kressley were victorious in the Modified heat races. The consolation
events went to Mike Gular and Brian Papiez.

In the 30-lap Crate Modifieds vs. Sportsman, Bob Lineman Jr., the 2018 track
champion, led every circuit to claim his fourth victory of the year and the
twentieth of his career. Cale Ross came from twelfth to finish in second.
Third place was captured by Art Liedl. After starting the contest in
twenty-first, Louden Reimert completed the race in fourth. The top five was
filled out by Jeremy Martino. The winners in the qualifying events were Matt
Ellery, Art Liedl and Will Dupree.

REED GRABS MODIFIED WIN, MONGEAU AND ALCARO SWEEP TWINS AT WALL SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Two-time former driving champion Steven Reed of Jackson turned around a season of bad fortunes to win the 40-lap Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified stock car race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was Reed's 30th career win in the All American Auto Group Racing Series.

Young Joey Merlino of Pine Hill was the first leader of the contest as Reed and a host of others charged to the front from mid-pack. Jason Treat of Jackson was the first to arrive and took the lead with an outside lane pass on lap nine. Treat's strong Run only lasted four laps, however, as his race car suddenly shut off on the front stretch sending his competitors scrambling to avoid him. Merlino then regained the lead, but that lasted only moments as he was forced to pit with a flat tire.

By this time Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Reed had completed their runs to the front and lined up side-by-side for the restart. Using the outside lane Reed was able to power to the front and then raced home to win. Krause was the runner-up, while point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell was third. Freehold's Chas Okerson and Roger Coss wrapped up the top five.

“Finally,” Reed said upon exiting his car in the winner's circle. “You know, I really have to thank my grandmother for her support. Even when we were having all that trouble, she is here every race and always offering support. Have to thank my wife, my mother, my father and everyone who helps! This is a real team sport and family sport. Dennis Freese and George Andretta were also big in getting this new car together.”

Shanon Mongeau of Manchester continued his perfect season with two victories in twin Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Model main events. In the first 25-lapper Joe Mongeau of Brick was the runner-up, while Bayville's Mike Tillett, Dom Casola of Holmdel and Harry Schaeffer of Carteret wrapped up the top five. In the second 25-lapper Shanon Mongeau made it eight wins in eight starts, while Tillett, Schaeffer, Jackson's Greg Gastelu and Casola completed the top five.

Mike Alcaro of West Milford also earned two sets of trophies as he swept 25-lappers for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars. Point leader Nick Van Wickle was the runner-up in race number one, while Rob Silver of Wall, Peter Bruno of Little Silver and Chris Hammett were third through fifth. In the second 25-lapper Alcaro was the winner with Van Wickle, Hammett, Bruno and Eugene Drew of Oakland wrapping the top five.

Kyle Scisco of Jackson tasted victory for the third time this year in a caution plagued 25-lap race for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars. Scisco took the lead with an outside lane pass at the halfway mark and earned the win over Howell's Kevin Davison, Mike Brennan of Morristown, Jackson's Jarret DiGiantomasso and Michael Rising of Red Bank.

The All American Auto Group Racing Series continues this Saturday evening (Sept. 22) on “Pack the Track Night.” The O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks will return for twin 25-lap main events, while the Surfside Collision 4 cylinder Stocks, Sportsman cars and Legend Cars will all compete in a 25-lappers. Two Demolition Derby events will cap off the evening. Adults in the grandstand will enjoy a discounted $10 admission ticket, kids 6 to 12 are $5 and five and under are free! Parking is also free of charge. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature race action set for 7:00 p.m.

Saturday night racing action continues through the October 6 “Champion's Night” with schedule details at www.wallspeedwayracing.com. The Halloween themed “Spooky Spectacular” racing event is set for October 20 and the annual Turkey Derby is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
