HOT SUMMER NIGHT LANDS KYLE LARSON IN GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY VICTORY LANE, POCKETS $7,000
JEFF STRUNK STUNS THE FIELD WINNING MODIFIED MAIN FROM 23RD PLACE STARTING SPOT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (July 3, 2018) – It was an Independence Day celebration of speed as a capacity crowd witnessed the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series action at the Grandview Speedway will star filled field of local and national driving stars. NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson invaded to claim the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speedweek victory – round five of the 10-race stretch, while Jeff Strunk picked up the win in the NASCAR 358 Modified main event. The event was presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings as Larson collected $7,000 for his win and Strunk earned an attractive $3,000 first place prize in the modified feature.
“Such an awesome crowd tonight,” Larson said in Victory Lane celebrations. “It seemed like a pretty exciting race, at least from my seat, every time I went to the top I’d see Greg Hodnett pull to my inside.”
A blind re-draw put James McFadden and Greg Hodnett on the front row of the 35 lap main event. Hodnett – a 9-time Thunder on the Hill winner – quickly jumped to the lead. Larson, who started in the fourth position, moved into contention on the third circuit.
With a 24-car starting field on the one-third-mile, lapped traffic became a factor on the sixth lap, with Larson taking the low-groove and Hodnett taking the high-side to split a lapped car. Larson powered around the bottom claiming the top spot.
The race’s first caution flew on lap 9, while circling the track under yellow James McFadden – running in the third position – pulled pitside to change a right rear flat tire.
Larson took command on the restart with Hodnett giving chase, the two diced high-and-low ticking off laps one-by-one, with Larson riding right up against the outside wall.
“It was such a fine line running right up that high, there’s such a risk of getting into the wall. I was a little nervous,” Larson offered.
With Larson running an extreme outside groove, Hodnett peeked to the inside of Larson’s No. 57 machine – before the two swapped lanes with Larson moving to the bottom and Hodnett on the top.
Then came Christopher Bell.
The 23-year-old Sprint Car ace turned NASCAR driver, used momentum and lapped traffic to close on the leaders forming a three-car fight for the win – but ultimately Bell’s night would end drastically bunching up the field with a right rear flat and collecting Trey Starks.
Larson outgunned Hodnett on the Lap 32 restart leading the final three circuits and collecting a $7,000 payday and his second consecutive NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series Speedweek victory.
Hodnett would finish in second position, followed by a pair of NASCAR Cup Series superstars Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart in third and fourth respectively. Danny Dietrich finished in fifth moving from a 12th place starting position.
From a 23rd starting position, Jeff Strunk led the Glenn Hyneman-owned No. 126 to a $3,000 NASCAR 358 Modified payday.
Ryan Watt jumped to the early lead from his front row starting position followed closely by Jared Umbenhaue.. A lap 3 yellow flag slowed the field for the first time.
On the restart, Watt continued on in the top spot with Umbenhauer in second and Craig VonDohren moving into the third position.
The top-three competitors battled side-by-side for the lead, with Umbenhauer slipping past Watt on multiple occasions but unable to hold the top spot.
Lap-by-lap Watt maintained a command on the field with Umbenhauer and VonDohren forming a three car chase for the checkered.
A lap 21 restart offered Strunk an opportunity to pounce, first on VonDohren and then on Umbenhauer one lap later.
Strunk raced outside Watt’s No. 14W on the 23rd lap and finally completed the pass after multiple attempts. Strunk would go on to claim his 13th NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series win and his first since 2015.
Watt settled for second place, Craig VonDohren finished in third, Jared Umbenahuer in fourth, and Doug Manmiller in the fifth position.

31 410 Sprint Cars and 27 Modifieds were signed in for competition.
Anthony Macri set the 410 Sprint Car Quick Time with a lap of 12.553. Macri set the time on his first circuit around the Speedway, before flipping during his second lap. Macri would go on to get the car repaired for the first heat race.
This marked Kyle Larson’s third Grandview Speedway appearance. Larson finished in 3rd at the 2012 Speedweek event that Greg Hodnett won and was the defending race winner after a 2017 victory. Larson was joined in victory lane by his son, Owen.
Former NASCAR Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart was the first 410 Sprint Car to take Time Trials. Stewart clocked in at 7th on the speed charts with a 12.751
Sprint Car Heat Races were won by Aaron Reutzel, Trey Starks, Tony Stewart, and Kasey Kahne
Modified Heat Races were won by Brian Papiez, Ron Kline, and Ryan Watt.
The Ben Moyer Memorial Hard Charger award was presented to Danny Dietrich collecting a $750 payday. NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Officials matched the $750 payoff and awarded it to Brandon Rahmer for gaining the most spots in the A-main event.
Jeff Strunk maintains his position as the winningest driver in NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Modified history scoring his 13th Modified feature event win.

410 SPRINT CARS ROLL INTO GRANDVIEW ON TUESDAY, JULY 3; CAN KYLE LARSON DEFEND HIS RACE WIN?
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (July 2, 2018) – The stage is set, the biggest ten days in Pennsylvania Sprint Car racing is in full swing and a stop at the ‘The hill in Bechtelsville,’ is on the agenda for the 410 Sprint Car racers, known as the Pennsylvania Posse.
NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series brings Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings to Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, July 3 – a prelude to a huge holiday celebration. The 410 Sprints and 358 NASCAR Modifieds make up this huge Doubleheader that gets underway at 7:30 PM
After the first three races, 22-year-old, Trey Starks sits at the top of the Speedweek series standings -- after scoring the opening night victory at the Williams Grove Speedway – holding the lead over Brock Zearfoss, Freddie Rahmer, Greg Hodnett, and Lucas Wolfe.
Invaders like NASCAR Cup driver Kyle Larson – the winner of last year’s Grandview Speedway Speedweek event – and Christopher Bell are well known for their Sprint Car prowess and plan to knock down the Posse regulars. Christopher Bell will be driving the Kevin Swindell sprint car.
You can’t count out 410 favorites like Ryan Smith and Danny Dietrich, who are heading to Berks County in full force searching for a NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series checkered flag.
The Sprint Cars will compete in a 35-lap event with $7,000 winner’s share and will be joined by the NASCAR 358 Modifieds – Grandview’s mainstay weekly division for a 30-lap, $3,000-to-win double main event. Modified drivers Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Brett Kressley, Ryan Watt and Billy Pauch Jr., have indicated their intentions to compete on Tuesday evening.
As a bonus for the evening, the Low Down and Dirty Radio Show in partnership with the Beerhill Gang have created a 410 Sprint Car Hard Charger bonus, named after friend and fan of Grandview Speedway Ben Moyer. The Ben Moyer, Hard Charger award, will be presented to the 410 Sprint Car driver advancing the most positions in Tuesday Night’s A-Main. Race fan donations raised money for the prize.
If you would like to donate, representatives from the Low Down and Dirty Radio Show will be taking donations at the Meet and Greet before the event.
Advance tickets are on sale now and may be ordered by calling 443-513-4456. Please provide your name and the number of tickets requested. Tickets may be picked up and paid for on race night after 4:00 PM. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM, one-half hour before the sale of General Admission tickets. Advance tickets will be available until 9 AM on race day. General Admission tickets go on sale at 5 PM.
Time Trials for the 410 Sprint Cars will open the show on Tuesday, July 3 at 7:30 PM. The pit gates will open at 2:30 PM and the Grandstands will open at 5:00 PM. Fans can up-close to the drivers and their mighty machines with the Low Down and Dirty Meet and Greet kicking off at 5:00 PM.
General Admission Adult tickets are $28, Children ages 6-11 are $10, and Under 6 is Free of charge! Pit admission is $35, and no license is required.
Fans may camp out at the Speedway for the ultimate Speed Week experience. Campers are asked to park in the turn 4 parking area, there are no hook-ups available, and no box camping allowed. Track officials ask that all fires be contained. There is no fee for camping.

BEN MOYER 410 SPRINT HARD CHARGER AWARD UP FOR GRABS TUESDAY NIGHT, JULY 3 IN NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL 410 SPRINT SPEED WEEK SERIES EVENT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (July 1, 2018) – Good friend to Grandview Speedway and Thunder on the Hill, Ben Moyer will be remember in a very special way on Tuesday night, July 3rd when the 410 Sprint Speed Week Series and the 358 Modifieds take center stage at the Grandview Speedway.
In the 35 lap 410 sprint feature, the Hard Charger Award will be presented in the memory of Ben Moyer. The award will be 100% funded by race fan donations. Ben lost his heroic battle with cancer on June 5. Ben was a huge supporter of racing in our region as a fan, race team member and pace car driver for the Thunder on the Hill events. Ben worked behind the scenes in many positive ways to enhance the Thunder Series events. Ben was a hard charger in life, so this is a fitting way to remember our good friend.
All funds collected will be awarded to the driver who advances the most positions in the 35 lap sprint feature event. If you would like to make a contribution to the Ben Moyer Hard Charger Award, please contact the Low, Down and Dirty gang at the pre-race Meet & Greet at the front gate of the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, July 3. Others collecting donations include The Beer Hill Gang, Matthew Miller, Scott Diehl, Brian Whippy Whitman, Eric Whitby, Todd Tenetylo and Tim Rutherford. Currently, over $400 has been collected for the Ben Moyer Hard Charger Award and the payoff is expected to go much higher with additional donations to be collected on Tuesday night.

The 410 sprints will open the show at 7:30 PM with time trials followed by heat race qualifying for the 410 sprints and 358 modifieds. The event night cap will be a 35 lap 410 sprint feature paying $7,000 to win as the 358 modifieds will battle for 30 laps in chase of a $3,000 first place prize.
For the sprint cars, top regional drivers are expected as well as some surprise entries from the national racing scene. The modifieds will have a strong roster, highlighted by Craig VonDohren, Brett Kressley, Ryan Watt, Jeff Strunk and Billy Pauch Jr just to name a few.
NASCAR driver Kyle Larson was the winner of this event in 2017, his only victory at a Thunder on the Hill event at Grandview. Ryan Smith, the “Kunkletown Kid” has quickly become a favorite 410 driver for the Grandview crowd. Smith has come so close to scoring that first Thunder win on numerous occasions and he’ll be cheered on by many to lock down that first coveted Thunder on the Hill victory on Tuesday night.
For July 3, Ryan Smith will have his hands full with challenges from Freddie Rahmer Jr., Greg Hodnett, Danny "Double D" Dietrich, Alan Krimes, Brandon Rahmer, JJ Grasso, Lucas Wolfe, Brock Zearfoss, Kyle Moody and Ryan Taylor to name a few.

MATT STANGLE WINS HIS FIRST CAREER MODIFIED FEATURE AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (July 1, 2018) - At New Egypt Speedway's Throwback Night, Matt
Stangle won his first career Modified feature. The Mr. Crate Classic for the
Crate Modifieds went to Connor King. Jermain Godshall bested the field in
the main event for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint
Cars. Jon Meyer was the victor in the Street Stock race and Joe Garey, Sr.
took top honors in the 4-Cylinder contest.
As the green flag waved to start the 30-lap Modified feature, Modified
rookie Matt Stangle grabbed the lead with Steve Davis, Kevin Vaclavicek, Jim
Bobbitt and Blaine Bracelin in the chase. Vaclavicek motored by Davis into
second with four circuits recorded. On lap eight, the first of two cautions
in the event took place for Davey Sammons. When action resumed, Stangle
maintained his advantage with Vaclavicek and Davis still in second and third
respectively. Behind the top three, two racers, Ryan Godown and Danny Bouc,
were making moves to the front of the pack. Godown, who started in eighth
and was steering the Steve Searock owned Modified on this night, motored
into fourth with eleven laps in the books. The sixteenth place starting Bouc
zipped into fifth as the lap counter displayed fourteen. At the halfway
point, Stangle was still on top with Vaclavicek in second and Godown in
third. As a good stretch of green flag racing continued and only ten laps
remaining, the top three of Stangle, Vaclavicek and Godown were almost
nose-to-tail and approaching the back end of the field. As the final third
of the event began, Stangle began to knife his way through traffic. With six
laps remaining, Bouc slipped by Davis to gain fourth place. One lap later,
the caution flag waved for the second and final time as the third place
running Godown developed a flat right rear tire. On the single file restart,
Stangle held onto the front running position with Bouc moving past
Vaclavicek to take over the runner-up spot. Over the final few laps, Stangle
drove flawlessly to secure his first ever Modified feature victory. Bouc
came home in second with Vaclavicek finishing third. A strong run by Davis
resulted in a fourth place finish. Modified rookie JR Fulper completed the
contest in fifth. The Modified heat races were taken by Brandon Grosso and
Ryan Godown.
In the 30-lap Mr. Crate Classic for the Crate Modifieds, Connor King grabbed
first place just before the halfway point to win his second feature of the
season. Steve Desmelyk paced the pack for the opening two tours before
Jeremy Martino proceeded to the front. King, who started the extra distance
event from thirteenth, swept by Martino and into the lead for good on the
thirteenth circuit. Eric Palmer finished in second. Third place was claimed
by eighteenth place starting Sammy Martz, Jr. John Aumick was fourth and
fifth went to Martino. Johnny Bangs, Steve Hicks and John Criscione were the
victors in the Crate Modified heat races.
Jermain Godshall headed the field the entire distance to win the 20-lap main
for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars. The
victory was the first career win for Godshall. Brian Spencer chased Godshall
throughout the contest to finish second. Third place went to Heidi Hedin.
Karl Freyer was fourth and Rich Mellor completed the race in fifth. The
winners in the qualifying events for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's
Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars were Brian Spencer and Jermain Godshall.
In the 15-lap Street Stock race, Jon Meyer regained the lead on the eighth
circuit as he scored his third checkered flag of the season. Meyer inherited
the top running spot on the fourth tour after early leader Bill Liedtka
developed a flat tire. Following a caution period, Spider Ensinger, Sr.
drove by Meyer to take the lead on the seventh revolution. On the next lap,
Meyer charged past Ensinger, Sr. and he paced the field for the remaining
distance. With Ensinger, Sr. finishing in second, Billy Wroble was third.
Jerry Stanzione and newcomer Doug Fresh completed the top five.
Joe Garey, Sr. led every step of the way to win the 15-lap 4-Cylinder race
for the fourth time this season. Tom Stavola was second and Mike Fox was
third.
The Firecracker 40, presented by Pakenham Motorsports, takes place on
Saturday, July 7 at New Egypt Speedway as the Modifieds will partake in an
extra distance 40-lap main event. The USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint Cars
will be invading New Egypt Speedway for their only appearance this season.
The Crate Modifieds, 4-Cylinders and Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club
round out the slate. The pit gates open at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand
turnstiles unlock at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps get started at 6:00 p.m. with racing
getting underway at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $25 for adults,
$23 for seniors 65 and older, $15 for teens 12-15, $15 for military personal
and their spouses with ID, and Kids 11 & under are FREE. Pit admission is
$30 with a New Egypt Speedway license and $40 with no license.

BLEWETT (MODS), GRAVES (4 CYLINDER) AMONG WALL WINNERS SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Jimmy Blewett of Howell in the Modified division and Wall's TJ Graves in the 4 Cylinder Stocks were among the five feature race winners in All American Auto Group Racing Series at Wall Stadium Speedway on Saturday night.
In the Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified 40-lapper multi-time champ Chas Okerson rocketed to the front at the outset and appeared to be on his way to victory until the halfway point when his motor soured and he dropped from the race. Jackson's Steven Reed and Blewett then took over the top two spots as Tyler Truex of Mayetta and Holmdel's Andrew Krause moved into the top four.
With the the top runners racing in tight formation this one boiled over with a handful of laps remaining. Exiting turn two Reed's car appeared to slip. Blewett seemed to check up but Truex's car appeared to push Blewett's car into Reed forcing him to complete the spin. On the restart Krause advanced to second and hounded Blewett to the finish. Joey Merlino of Pine Hill, Truex and Blake Barney of Jackson wrapped up the top five.
“When Steven got loose exiting the second turn I tried to check up but the cars were just running hard behind me and pushed me into him,” Blewett said after the race. “I think we got lucky tonight. I think Andrew had the car to beat. A lot of guys are doing their homework. This win is for my son James for his birthday!”
Graves led the 50-lapper for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks the entire way and had his most challenging moments in the final five laps after the event's only caution. For those final laps Sal Liguori of Hazlet and Jeffrey Loesch of Neptune were in a position to strike, but instead wrestled each other for second before Loesch nailed down the spot. AJ Jadacki of Howell and Chuck McDonald wrapped up the top five.
The Center State Engineering Sportsman cars battled in two 20-lap main events. The first race came down to a battle between Louie Keraitis of Toms River and Howell's Kevin Davison for the win. This fight for first raged until Keraitis tagged the second turn guardrail on the final lap and Davison raced in to his first win of the season. Carsten DiGiantomasso of Jackson, Micheal Carr and Eddie McCarthy, both of Pt. Pleasant, and Freehold's Howie Conk wrapped up the top five.
The second Sportsman feature saw Carr return to take the victory on the first night of running a brand new car. Kyle Scisco of Jackson offered plenty of pressure before settling for second, with Davison, Carsten DiGiantomasso and McCarthy wrapping up the top five.
Nick Van Wickle of Edgewater Park took the lead on lap seven and raced on to win the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars 25-lapper over early leader Peter Bruno of Little Silver. Joe McGrath of Middletown, Eugene Drew of Oakland and James Van Wickle of Edgewater Park were third through fifth.
The All American Auto Group Racing Series continues this Saturday evening (July 7) with First Responders Night where all first responders will be admitted free to the grandstand when showing proper identification. The Modifieds will race in a 40-lapper and the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Models are all scheduled for 25-lappers. The touring Three-Quarter Midgets are also on the card. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature race action set for 7:00 p.m.

KRESSLEY SCORES THIRD MODIFIED VICTORY AT GRANDVIEW, 3 OTHERS JOIN THE WINNER’S CIRCLE ON BECHTELSVILLE CAR WASH NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. JULY 1, 2018 . . . Saturday night at Grandview Speedway in activities sponsored by Bechtelsville Car Wash, Brett “The Threat” Kressley scored his third T.P. Trailers NASCAR 30-lap Modified feature victory by outdistancing runner-up Duane Howard.
In the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature Ryan Beltz scored his second point career win in the event.
Tim Tanner Jr. was the victor in the 25-lap Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Sprint feature.
Brett Peters was able to win the 15-lap feature in the Blast From The Past Vintage division.
Providing the feature winners met the requirements, they received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and also product certificates from BP Fuels.
Jordan Henn returned to the Modified ranks after being forced out of competition a few weeks ago and wasted no time grabbing the early lead.
John Willman, Ray Swinehart, Kenny Gilmore and Ron Kline diced for the remaining positions behind the rookie.
Willman and Gilmore battled for four laps for second before Willman broke free and set sail after Henn and by lap 11 he put his bids in for the lead.
By the Dan’s Deli ½- hoagie mark, a three-way battle for the top spot ensured between Henn, Willman and Kressley.
Kressley, who started 12th, made a bold move coming out of the fourth turn and got around Willman and Henn for first.
Mark Kratz slowed his pace in turn two to bring out the 21st lap caution.
Kressley held his pace on the restart with the order behind him comprised of Willman, Howard, Jared Umbenhauer and Mike Gular, with all of them trying their best to advance.
Howard moved by Willman on the 22nd lap and set his signs on Kressley, who had a commanding lead built up.
No more restarts were needed once Kressley gained control to allow anyone an opportunity to overtake him and at the wave of the checkered it was career win number six. Chasing him across the line were Howard, Umbenhauer, Willman, who finally had a change of luck for his season best finish and Gular.
Qualifying events were won by Craig Von Dohren, Henn, Kressley and Ryan Grim. Tim Buckwalter and Brett Gilmore won the consolation races.
The Sportsman feature saw Kenny Bock take the early lead and set the pace for four laps until Beltz slipped underneath him as the pair came off turn four to become the new leader.
Kyle Lilick brought out the first yellow on the ninth lap when he stopped along the homestretch infield apron. On the restart Bock got the edge on Beltz and was back in first.
After two tries to get the 11th lap in in the books Beltz managed to regain the lead.
Behind Beltz jockeying for positions were Bock, Mark Kemmerer, Craig Whitmoyer and Jack Butler.
Kemmerer moved into second on the 19th lap and set sail after Beltz. In no time Kemmerer caught the leader to pressure him.
A fourth turn multi-car incident set up a one lap shoot out for the win. On the restart as Beltz and Kemmerer exited the fourth turn, contact was made between the two and Kemmerer hit the first turn wall putting him out of contention. He was uninjured but the car sustained heavy damage.
Beltz never surrendered the lead and went on to claim the win. Finishing second was Whitmoyer followed by Bock, for his season best finish, Brian Hirthler and Butler.
Beltz, Butler and Lilick were the heat winners. The consi went to Ken Eckert Jr.
In the 25-lap MASS Sprint feature pole sitter Scott Frack was the early leader and survived several caution and red flag incidents.
Things changed on the 12th lap red flag restart brought out when Logan Diehl flipped on the backstretch. He was uninjured. Frack held the lead when racing resumed, but now Tanner Jr. got past Ryan Stillwagon for second to challenge the leader.
The red was displayed again for Bryant Davis’ flip between turns three and four after he hit the infield tire marker. This time Tanner Jr. made his move to the inside groove off four and was the new leader with Stillwagon following through for second.
Tanner Jr. and Stillwagon raced side-by-side for several laps, but it was Tanner Jr. that picked up the victory. Finishing a close second was Stillwagon followed by Dan Brown, Rick Stief and Andy Best.
Todd Lapp led the 15-lap Blast From The Past Vintage feature for five laps before Brett Peters passed him for the front position.
Peters never faltered and went on to win the event trailed by Doug Steppenchuck, Andy Cassel, Lapp and Wyatt Jacobus.
There is Tuesday night, July 3, racing at Grandview featuring the Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek 410 sprints and TP Trailers 358 Modifieds. Racing takes place at 7:30 p.m.
The biggest event of the season is coming up for the Late Model stock cars at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, July 7th when the annual Firecracker 40 takes place.
The format for the Late Model portion of the tripleheader night of racing excitement will have racers run practice hot laps, timed hot laps and the fastest eight will redraw for the 40-lap feature race. However if the car count is 24 or more then there will be qualifying through eight lap heat races with 24 cars starting the Firecracker 40.
Joining the Late Models as part of the Firecracker tripleheader will be the very popular T.P. Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds along with the exciting Sportsman racers.
Racers taking part in the Low Down & Dirty Meet and Greet at the main entrance starting at 5 p.m. will be Danny Snyder, Kyle Merkel and Wayne Pfeil.
Adult admission for this special night of racing will be $20 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5. Kids under 6 are admitted FREE. Active military, with proper ID, are admitted free. And there is free parking on the speedway grounds.
