BOUC BESTS THE MODIFIED FIELD AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (May 6, 2018) - During the Round of 24 for the May Madness
Modified Series, Danny Bouc bested the Modified field at New Egypt Speedway.
The Hammer Sportsman feature was won by Pat Wall. Joe Toth took the
checkered flag in the Crate Modified main event. Eric Jennings scored the
victory in the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Car
feature. The 8-lap Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman feature was
taken by Ryan Heim. Joe Garey, Sr. claimed the top prize in the 4-Cylinder
race.
As the 30-lap Modified feature got underway, JR Fulper jumped out to the
front with Steve Davis and Brian Papiez next in line. Eighth place starting
Danny Bouc quickly began to move forward and was in second place with five
tours completed. On the sixth circuit, a slowing Bryan Kuhl brought out the
first yellow flag. When the green flag waved again, Bouc blasted by Fulper
to take the lead with David VanHorn driving into third. VanHorn, who started
the contest in ninth, slipped by Fulper on lap nine to take over second.
Following another caution period on the ninth revolution, Bouc held off
VanHorn to maintain his advantage with Billy Pauch, Jr. taking third from
Fulper. After a trio of cautions at the halfway point, Bouc was still pacing
the field over VanHorn and Pauch, Jr. with Ryan Godown running in fourth
after starting the race in twenty-fifth position using a backup car. Over
the next several laps, Bouc was feeling pressure from VanHorn for the lead
while Pauch, Jr. and Godown were dueling for third. With five laps remaining
and Bouc approaching slower traffic, the yellow lights illuminated for Brian
Roemer. During this appearance of the caution flag, Ryan Godown relinquished
fourth place as he visited his pit stall. With the restart marred by a
multi-car tangle, green flag racing finally resumed with Bouc retaining his
edge over VanHorn and Pauch, Jr. Over the final laps, Bouc went unchallenged
to win his ninth career Modified checkered flag at New Egypt Speedway. With
the victory, Bouc has automatically qualified for the final round of the May
Madness Modified Series. With VanHorn taking second, Pauch, Jr. came home in
third. Eleventh place starting Ryan Krachun finished fourth. Brandon Grosso
came from fifteenth to complete the race in fifth. Steve Davis, Danny Bouc
and Brian Papiez were victorious in the heat races for the Modifieds.
Pat Wall celebrated his birthday by winning the 20-lap Hammer Sportsman
feature for the second time this season. Joseph Brown led the opening
thirteen tours before the eighth place starting Wall assumed command of the
race. Bob Lineman, Jr. was second with Art Liedl finishing third. Bill
Liedtka was fourth and David Burns rounded out the top five. Hammer
Sportsman qualifying events were won by Pat Wall and Billy Osmun.
With the time limit reached in the scheduled 20-lap Crate Modified feature,
Joe Toth was scored as the winner with eighteen circuits completed. Toth
took the lead from Paul Hartwig on the second circuit and paced the field
for the remainder of the contest for his first career victory at New Egypt
Speedway. Connor King drove up from his fourteenth place start to take the
runner-up spot. Jeremy Martino, John Criscione and Kyle Kania completed the
top five. Joe Toth and Ryan Simmons were the winners in the Crate Modified
heat races.
In the 20-lap main event for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast
Wingless Sprint Cars, Eric Jennings grabbed the lead from Larry Drake on the
sixth tour and led the rest of the way to win his second feature of the
year. Rich Mellor was second with Heidi Hedin placing third. Karl Freyer
finished in fourth and fifth place went to Brian Spencer. Larry Drake was
the victor in the qualifying race for the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's
Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars.
For the third time in four races, Ryan Heim topped his rivals in the 8-lap
Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman feature. Paige Brown led the
race for the opening three circuits before Heim took command. Brown
concluded the contest in second. Matt Miller finished in third. Fourth went
to Kevin Borden, Jr. and Bobby Holzwarth was fifth.
Joe Garey, Sr. racked up his second 2018 visit to victory lane by leading
every step of the way in the 15-lap race for the 4-Cylinders. Justin Dunn,
Jim Backowski, Scott Dunn and Joe Garey, Jr. finished in order behind the
winner.
On Saturday, May 12 at New Egypt Speedway, the May Madness Modified Series

By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
What a difference a week makes as the cold weather might have gone to sleep for now and spring has finally sprung in New York State. Friday evening brought eighty degree weather to the Catskills but it also brought some of that rain stuff the racers and promoters dread. A rainstorm blew in and halted the action for over an hour but Promoter Gary Palmer was relentless as he and with the help of a caravan of race cars whipped the speedway back into shape and along with it produced another great night of racing. A couple of divisions did not get their features in and those races will be added on as time permits. The racing action was sponsored by Rapid Tire Service located in Montgomery, New York. (www.rapidtireservice.com)
Capturing wins on Friday at the speedway were "The Wild Child" Andy Bachetti in the Insinger Fuels Modifieds as he overhauled young Kyle VanDuser to capture the victory. "The Jersey Force" Anthony Recchio picked up his first win of the season in the Arkel Motors Sportsman. Bob Tersillo celebrated his second win succession on his sponsor's night in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Cars, and Brian Durbin captured his first win in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman. Mike Houghtaling took the road less traveled to come away the winner in the Northeast Vintage Modifieds as he nipped Darrell Hulbert to win yet another event at the speedway.
"Tommy Gun" Tommy Johnson and "The Concrete Kid" Kyle VanDuser brought the starting field to the green flag for the start of the 30-lap Modified headliner. VanDuser wasted no time in blasting to the front of the pack with Johnson and Anthony Perrego in hot pursuit. VanDuser was blasting off of the top of the raceway like a man possessed as he led the field lap after lap. Back in the field their were numerous battles for position and real estate but Andy Bachetti came a calling after starting from fourteenth position. Rich Ricci Jr hustled hard from tenth position and everyone on hand knew this was going to be a show-stopper to the finish. "Iron" Mike Ricci pulled up lame on turn two in lap ten bringing out the caution.
On the restart VanDuser glued himself back up to the top of the raceway and once again forged out front. He held the top spot when another caution for the disabled racer of Nick Johnson on lap-22. The restart had VanDuser back in control but with many drivers chasing him with their eyes on the prize. Ed Dachenhausen would break on lap-25. On the restart Bachetti tested low and then high and was able to drive by VanDuser on lap-27 and go on and capture the win. VanDuser ran a great race and was the runner-up with Perrego steady in third place Danny Creeden charging hard late to grab up fourth and Rich Ricci Jr finishing up the top five. The second five were Jerry Higbie, Randy Green from 13th, Scott Ferrier, Jimmy Wells who drove back through the filed after an earlier altercation and Richard Smith.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman feature headliner was a time-shortened event with Anthony Recchio leading all laps to capture his first win in the regular Sportsman division and doing it with a 2001 minted Bicknell race car. Recchio was in command all of the way. Tyler Johnston was the runner-up and he was getting stronger with each passing lap. Matt Shultz was third with Cole Hentschel fourth and Kevin Stevens rounding out the top five. The second five was headed up by Daniel Morgiewicz with Hunter Lapp, Leo Fotopolous, Chris VanDuser and Tony Kowalchuk completing the top ten.
The WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Cars found Bobby Tersillo up to the task once again as he grabbed up the lead on the opening lap and cruised to his second straight win at the speedway. Corey Wood was the runner-up in a strong outing with Mick D'Agostino in third, followed by Eric Jennings, Jeremy Quick, Heidi Hedin and Mark Connolly.
The WRWD Rookie Sportsman field was a good one and even though the event became time shortened the action was good throughout the pack. Winning his first ever Accord feature was Brian Durbin as he grabbed the lead in turn one and held the field at bay throughout the duration of the event. Charlie Loiodice was the runner-up with Travis Green, Joe Coppola and Mike Travis completing the top five. Samantha Muller recovered from an earlier spin and headed up the second five with Robbie Colburne, Amanda Carson, Fred Smith and Erin Paulison completing the top ten.
Darrell Hulbert lead the entire Vintage Modified race except for the final two turns as Mike Houghtaling saw Hulbert try to go underneath a slower car in turn three and Houghtaling decided to go high and the travel-line brought Houghtaling another Accord Speedway win. Hulbert was the runner-up with Ray See Sr, Mike Brown and Bob Harless finishing up the top five..
GEMSTONES:
Heat winners for the evening event included Matt Shultz, Anthony Recchio and Nick Plumstead in the Sportsman division. Pure Stock heats were won by Ray Tarantino and Travis Brockner. Three heats were needed to set the field for the Modified division with Richie Eurich, Kyle VanDuser and Jimmy Wells claiming wins. Bob Tersillo captured the lone heat in sprint car action that saw Jeremy Quick take a wild ride after hopping a wheel. Rookie Sportsman heats were claimed by Jared Miller and Brian Durbin.
Preliminary Fireball heats were claimed by Jeff DeGroat, Jerry Kingeter and Dave Donovan.
The speedway itself was in spectacular condition both times as Promoter Gary Palmer spent the entire week in working his magic grooming the multi-channeled raceway that saw three and four wide action throughout the evening of events.
Jim and Ginnie Douglas are celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations to the happy couple.
Best wishes go out to Kurt Cross as he will have knee surgery this coming Tuesday.
It was nice to see Former Miss Accord Speedway Erica Decker in attendance and she informed us she is planning her wedding coming up shortly.

Uncle Mike Hansen from WRWD Radio also was on hand for the event.

RUTSKI AND VACLAVICEK SCORE WINS ON TWIN TWENTY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (April 29, 2018) - On Twin Twenty Night at New Egypt Speedway,
Rich Rutski and Kevin Vaclavicek each scored a Modified feature win. The
Crate Modified main event was won by Dan Fleming. Jon Meyer captured the
victory in the Street Stock race. The Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie
Sportsman feature went to Bobby Holzwarth. Joe Garey, Sr. took top honors in
the 4-Cylinder contest.
After three attempts, the first 20-lap Modified feature began with Dominick
Buffalino taking command over Jeff Bubori and Rich Rutski. With six circuits
in the books, Buffalino was running strong with Rutski advancing into second
and Ryan Krachun running in third. On the eighth circuit, Buffalino, who had
a full straightaway advantage over the field, pulled into the infield and
retired from the race with a mechanical issue. Rutski, a teammate of
Buffalino, became the new leader with Krachun taking over second and Danny
Bouc moving into third place. Three laps later, Krachun was closing in on
Rutski when the yellow flag waved for a spinning Kevin Vaclavicek. On the
ensuing restart, Rutski held off a challenge for the lead with Ryan Godown
charging into second and John McClelland taking over third. With two
additional cautions and resumptions in the final six laps, Rutski held off
additional threats to his lead and raced home to his second career win in
the Modified ranks. The runner-up spot went to McClelland. With Krachun
taking third, Godown slipped back in the final tours to finish in fourth.
Jimmy Horton completed the top five.
As the top twelve finishers in the first contest were inverted, the second
20-lap feature got underway with second place starting Chad Barney grabbing
the lead. Jeff Bubori and Kevin Vaclavicek were next in line. With three
circuits in the books, Vaclavicek advanced past Bubori and began to track
down Barney. On the fourth lap, Vaclavicek sped past Barney to become the
new leader. Once in front, Vaclavicek began to pull away from the field. On
the eighth circuit, Vaclavicek's sizeable advantage was lost as Barney, who
had lost second place to Bubori, spun while running in third place. After a
few unsuccessful tries, green flag racing returned with Vaclavicek
maintaining his position, Ryan Godown in second and Matt Stangle in third.
At the halfway point, Stangle drove by Godown to take over the runner-up
spot. Over the final half of the affair, Vaclavicek drove flawlessly as he
logged his first career Modified feature victory. Second place went to
Stangle. Godown completed the race in third with John McClelland taking
fourth and Jimmy Horton was fifth. The Modified heat winners were Rich
Rutski, Blaine Bracelin and Dominick Buffalino.
In the 20-lap Crate Modified main event, Dan Fleming took the lead from
Robbie Dunn on the eleventh tour and paced the field the rest of the way.
The win was Fleming's second career checkered flag in the division. Kyle
Kania's last lap charge past John Aumick earned him a second place finish.
With Aumick in third, eleventh place starting Ryan Simmons was fourth. After
starting in tenth, Johnny Bangs completed the race in fifth. John Aumick and
John Criscione were victorious in the Crate Modified qualifying races.
Jon Meyer slipped beneath Lee Allen in the first corner of the last circuit
to take the victory in the 15-lap Street Stock contest. Meyer, who was
running in second when he was involved in an incident on the eighth
revolution, was able to roar back through the field to collect his third
career victory. Billy Wroble slipped by Allen on the final lap as well to
take second place. With Allen finishing third, Jim Avery was fourth and
Jerry Stanzione was fifth.
After taking the lead on lap five from Matt Miller, Bobby Holzwarth held off
Sam Martz, Jr. in the final three tours to win his first Lyons
Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman feature. The second place finish by
Martz was his third consecutive in three events. Miller, who led the opening
five circuits, came home in third. Kevin Borden, Jr. and Erich Conk
completed the top five.
Joe Garey, Sr. led every step of the way to gain the checkered flag in the
10-lap race for the 4-Cylinders. Justin Dunn, Scott Miller, Scott Dunn and
Joe Garey, Jr. followed the victor across the finish line.
The May Modified Madness Series gets underway on Saturday, May 5 at New
Egypt Speedway with the round of 24. This unique four race series features
the top-24 in the Modified point standings competing in a bracket style
elimination tournament. The Modifieds will be joined by the Larry's Hot Rods
& Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars, Hammer Sportsman, Crate
Modifieds, 4-Cylinders and the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie
Sportsman. Competitors may begin to enter the pits at 3:00 p.m. and the
