DANNY SNYDER, BRAD GRIM AND RYAN WATT CAPTURE CHECKERED FLAGS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
BRETT PETERS AND RICKY RUTT WINNERS IN VINTAGE RACING FEATURE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 22, 2018 . . . A full card of regular season NASCAR points paying events Saturday night at Grandview Speedway got the 2018 racing season underway on a very exciting note, as Danny Snyder, Brad Grim and Ryan Watt, all, took home Opening Night wins at the popular high-banked third-mile clay oval in Bechtelsville, PA.
The 25-lap Late Model triumph by Snyder was his first victory at the raceway since July 20, 2013 and the tenth win of his career.
Watt dominated in the 30-lap NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified main event, winning his third career feature race at the track and his first since September 3, 2005.
Grim netted his third career victory in the 25-lap Sportsman division feature and scored his first since July 29, 2017.
Through the luck of the draw, the Green Lane, PA native, Snyder, started from the pole position in the 13-car starting field and quickly moved out to a full straightaway advantage as the race leader by lap 4. A caution a lap later bunched up the field, however, Snyder once again was lightning quickly with the new green, grabbing the top spot on the restart and stretching it to a full straightaway advantage again after nine circuits.
Caution again on lap 17 closed up the field, with Snyder playing the role of the rabbit again on the restart, with the competition chasing. Yellow flags waving again after lap 20 and lap 22 slowed things, but Snyder again just held onto that top spot each time and easily went on to victory by a safe margin over the fourth-place race starter from Shoemakersville, PA veteran Brian Shuey, Green Lane, PA chauffeur Kyle Merkel, who started from fifth, Reading, PA racer Drew Weisser, the seventh-place starter, and Pottstown, PA chauffeur Jordan Knepp, who took the initial feature green from tenth, at the checkered, earning an additional $100 bonus from TP Trailers and Truck Equipment out of Limerick, PA as the race winner.
“The car was good and so was the track tonight. The car was bottoming out there towards the end in turn 3. There was a pretty good sized cushion there, but we made it through alright and made the owner happy tonight. It’s sure a good way to start the new season,” offered Snyder.
In the Sportsman feature, a heads-up starting order saw Jim Housworth of Riegelsville, PA immediately jumped out in front after starting from the pole in the 24-car starting field and was the race leader after lap one. On lap two, third-place starter Brad Grim out of Coplay, PA made a move on the outside off turn four to become the new race leader at the line by a radiator, racing side-by-side with Housworth. Cautions after lap two and again after lap three bunched up the field, however, Grim remained out in front completing lap four, with outside front row starter Brian Hirthler in tow, as Housworth fell to third.
Grim maintained his advantage as the race leader, as Housworth moved back into the runner-up position by lap six, with Hirthler and Brad Brightbill now trailing. Brightbill climbed into third-place on lap eight and a caution flag after 11-laps were completed tightened up the field again.
With the new green it was Grim out in front over Housworth, Brightbill, Hirthler and now Louden Reimert of Oley, PA, who started from eleventh. Grim immediately started pulling away and opening up a sizeable advantage as the laps clicked off. With five to go, Grim was out in front by a full straightaway.
Little changed in the closing laps as Grim raced under the checkered first outrunning Housworth, Brightbill, Hirthler and Reimert in that order. Grim took home an additional $100 bonus from TP Trailers as well for his victory.
“The car was a little tight there at the end. We had to run the top and that wasn’t where I wanted to be, but I knew it was where I had to be if I wanted to stay out in front because that’s where the bite was. This is a very good team and I thought that they were closer to me there at the end, but my crew tells me we won by a full straightaway and that surprised me,” announced Grim.
Sportsman heat race winners were Housworth, Hirthler and Grim. The consolation winner was Kyle Lilick. A total of 33 Sportsman racers signed in for competition on Saturday night.
In the 30-lap NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modified headliner, the heads-up start showed Doug Manmiller from Shoemakersville, PA racing out in front with the initial green flag after starting from the pole, but all eyes were on Ryan Watt from Boyertown, PA, who started fourth in the 28-car starting field and quickly powered his way around the outside to move up to the runner-up position after one tour. Watt fought it out with Manmiller wheel-to-wheel and made the pass to become the new race leader down the back part of the speedway and racing into turn three on lap four.
With six complete it was Watt, Manmiller and second-place starter Steve Swinehart of Perkiomenville, PA running as the top three. A caution quickly bunched up the field at that point.
On lap seven, tenth-place starter Duane Howard from Oley, PA powered his way into third, followed by Mike Gular out of Harleysville, PA and Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, PA, who started from seventh. Howard started to work his way under Manmiller by lap nine and, eventually, squeezed by on lap 12 to take second. With 13 circuits in the record books, Watt was now out in front by a full straightaway.
Watt started to get slowed by lapped traffic, as Howard began to reel the leader in. With 18 down, Howard was now right on Watt, working through the lapped traffic, as Manmiller brought out a caution due to a badly smoking motor after 21 rounds were completed.
On the restart Watt powered out in front again over Howard, fourteenth-place starter Frank Cozze of Wind Gap, PA and Gular. After 23 circuits, Watt again pulled out to a safe advantage. On lap 25, Craig Von Dohren from Oley, PA climbed into the top five, after starting in twenty-first.
Watt easily claimed the first-place pay check, with Howard, Cozze, Gular and Von Dohren in tow.
Watt earned an additional $250 bonus check from TP Trailers after his feature win, plus the weekly $2,500 first-place winner’s prize.
“I wish we had this car here last week (referring to the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial that paid $7,500 to win). We’ve been so close here with a couple of second-place finishes. We’ve got a lot of friends and family here tonight. It’s great to finally be back in victory lane. I almost forgot how to get here. We brought this Bicknell car here last year but had a fuel line issue hurt us. Tonight there was a lot of grip and I could easily get that bite if I got back into the throttle again. I wasn’t really worried once we got out in front,” commented Watt.
The 358 Modified heat race winners were Manmiller, Steve Swinehart, Kenny Gilmore and Watt. Consolation winners were Von Dohren and Jared Umbenhauer of Richland, PA. A total of 39 358 Modified cars signed in for competition on Saturday evening.
A special 15-lap Blast from The Past Vintage Car feature event saw Brett Peters go high on lap seven to take the lead and go on to the victory over Andy Cassell, Todd Lapp, Jamie Undercoffler and Ricky Rutt, who was also declared as a race winner in his division, with all the Vintage cars running together in a single feature event.
Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 28th, 7 p.m. with the running of a tripleheader card of racing featuring the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY- "Prime Time" Scott Ferrier Sizzles To A Frigid Opening Night Accord Speedway Modified Win
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The Catskills Mountains of New York State sprung back to life Friday evening as the the high pitched sounds of race cars and the mighty cheering from a grandstand full of happy fans opened up the Accord Speedway for the 2018 racing season. Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer ushered in the long-awaited season opener at their pristine racing facility located in the area once known as the "Borscht Belt." The speedway opened last evening to a great cast of familiar and new driving stars and they offered high speed action with daredevil skills on a race track like no other found on the entire East Coast today. The great opening night crowd witnessed six race divisions on a day that found the weather somewhat warm in the afternoon and quickly going frigid as the evening progressed. The racing action was sponsored by Fast Signs of Kingston, New York: www.fastsigns.com
Capturing the exciting opening night wins at the speedway were "Prime Time" Scott Ferrier in the Insinger Fuels Modifieds, "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner in the Arkel Motors Sportsman, Emerson Cargain Jr in the Upstate Auto Pure Stocks, Bobby Tersillo in the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Cars, Kenny Ryder in the WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman and Jeff DeGroat in the Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball 4-Cylinders.
Joey Grammes and Danny Creeden brought the 23-car starting field to the green flag for the start of the 30-lap Modified headliner. Creeden wasted no time in blasting to the front of the pack with Joey Grammes and Scott Ferrier in hot pursuit. A restart found Scott Ferrier blasting off of the top of the raceway like a man possessed as he quickly scampered away from the field. With Ferrier putting on a clinic, the racing action was hot and heavy behind him as the quality field of talent jockeyed for their own slice of real estate. Anthony Perrego moved through the pack in a challenging position only to find his hot rod catch on fire and he quickly shut down the racer.
On the restart, Ferrier once again showed his tail pipes to the rest of the field only to seemingly slow a bit during the final ten laps allowing Creeden, Rich Ricci Jr, Jerry Higbie and Mike Ricci to close the distance but would cross the finish line in that order. Local ace "Little Richard" Smith was sixth from 15th, and the remainder of the top ten included Jimmy Wells, invader Andy Bachetti, reigning champion Danny Tyler and Brian Malcolm.
The Arkel Motors Sportsman feature headliner found a very quick Tony Kowalchuk establishing the point for the first 13-laps. A restart brought the field together and on the restart Kyle Rohner drove by Kowalchuk from the top of the raceway. A lap-20 caution placed Kowalchuk back to the front as officials decided Rohner had jumped the prior start. On the ensuing restart, Rohner went to work and grabbed the lead as the two combatants hit turn three. Rohner led the remainder of the way to grab the win with Kowalchuk in the runner-up role. Leo Fotopolous was third in a great run with Tyler Johnston and Hunter Lapp completing the top five as the pair battled throughout the event. Daniel Morgiewicz headed up the second five with Mike Senecal, Kevin Stevens, Cole Hentschel and Nick Plumstead completing the top ten.
Emerson Cargain Jr led all laps to triumph in the Upstate Auto Pure Stock feature race. While Sleight led all of the laps, Steve Williams kept it interesting throughout the event as he challenged for most of the event along with former track champion Bob Sleight. Williams was the runner-up with Sleight third, Livy Johnson fourth and John Hechinger fifth.
The WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Cars found Bobby Tersillo leading all of the way to capture the win. Newcomer Mick D'Agostino pushed Tersillo the entire distance but couldn't find the sweet spot of the raceway to get by.
Keystone State star Heidi Hedin finished third while another newcomer Dan Malley was fourth.
The WRWD Rookie Sportsman field was a good one and even though the attrition rate was a bit high at the opening night event, there is a good deal of talented future stars within the group. The night belonged Kenny Ryder as he led all laps to capture his first ever win at Accord. Travis Green was in for the runner-up slot while Samantha Muller was third in her debut into the full size car ranks. John Brown and Fred Smith completed the top five. Erin Paulison, Michael Corbin, Joseph Coppola, Cole Stangle and Brian Durbin completed the top ten.
A familiar face graced victory lane in the Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball Four Cylinder initial showdown. Jeff DeGroat, a mainstay in the Enduro ranks, led from start to finish in his rice rocket with another four cylinder veteran Jerry Kingeter slipping past Dave Donovan for runner-up honors. Donovan, Ryan Heady and Jesse Torrens completed the top five. Brandon Conklin, Gary Quick, Ken Barringer, Sean Quinn and Wikkie DeGraw completed the top ten.
GEMSTONES:
Heat winners for the opening night event included Tony Kowlachuk, Hunter Lapp and Leo Fotopolous in the Sportsman division. Pure Stock heats were won by Emerson Cargain Jr and Steve Williams. Three heats were needed to set the field for the Modified division with Joey Grammes, Danny Creeden and Jerry Higbie claiming wins while the consolation win went to Brian Malcolm. Mick D'Agostino captured the lone heat in sprint car action. Rookie Sportsman heats were claimed by Cole Stangle and Samantha Muller. Fireball Heats were claimed by Jeff DeGroat and Dave Donovan.
The start of the event was delayed for a few minutes to allow the crowd a chance to find their way to their seats in a solid opening night event for the speedway and the Palmer Family. The Palmer Family is celebrating their eighteenth anniversary as the owners and promoters of the Accord facility.
The Accord concession stands were at full tilt as the hardworking staff busted their humps to cover the hungry racing crowd that came out to support the speedway.
The speedway itself was in spectacular condition as Promoter Gary Palmer spent the entire week in working his magic on the multi-channeled raceway that saw three and four wide action throughout the evening of events. All of the drivers offered their praises for the well groomed facility.
Many new cars and paint schemes were the order of the day for the pit area that bustled all evening long. "Jammin" Jimmy Wells opened his season sporting new sponsorship from Upstate Auto and celebrating a birthday. Joey Grammes, Butch Getz and Tyler Boniface were new additions to the Modified field. D'Agostino, Dan Malley, Jordan Lawrence and Mark Connoly were new faces for the sprint division.
The new Town Supervisor in Rochester Mike Baden was on hand for the action, interviewed with Steve Pados and truly enjoyed his night at the speedway. Uncle Mike Hansen from WRWD Radio was on hand and had the decked out WRWD Truck taking a few laps. The Upstate Auto pace truck had Randy Filipowski at the controls
Ronda and Gary Phillips, who play such an important part in the success of the Dirt Track Heroes Show, came up from Phillipsburg, New Jersey to cheer on their favorite driver Kyle Rohner.
A moment of silence was held for Former first lady Barbara Bush as well as former Accord and Olive Bridge racer Barry Dolan

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY - Accord Speedway Ready To Go Greden For Opener Friday Night April 20th
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Last week the Accord Speedway hosted what would be their lone test and tune session with close to ninety cars signing in to dial in their racing equipment and prepare for the 2018 racing season. Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer deemed the test and tune to be quite a successful evening and will now focus their attention to opening night at their pristine quarter mile speedway this coming Friday evening, April 20th with seven divisions of racing slated to go to the post. The exciting evening of speed will be sponsored by Fast Signs from Kingston, New York www.fastsigns.com
The crazy weather pattern of late has had the speedway staff logging in some extra long hours in preparation to meet and the greet the drivers, sponsors and fans who will see the first glimpse of the race cars in actual racing competition as the speedway opens it's gates officially for the first time in 2018, the eighteenth season of ownership and promotional reigns at the speedway for the Palmer Family.
The Accord facility was built back in 1962 in the area that at one time was dubbed the "Borscht Belt" by the many vacationers who traveled into the Catskills Mountains from New York City and New Jersey. Such grand resorts as Grossingers, The Concord, Kutshers and Brown's Hotel were famous for the great entertainers of the golden era of entertainment such as Milton Berle, Martin and Lewis, Rodney Dangerfield, Henny Youngman and Jayne Mansfield entertained their audiences to always sell-out crowds. With the quick-start of the transportation and hotel industry gaining momentum into the seventies, those famous resorts died off one by one but the Accord Speedway remains a solid focal point for the area for fans seeking to enjoy a weekend of affordable entertainemt and good fun. The 2018 racing season is destined to be another great season at the "Gem in the Catskills" facility.
The Palmer Family is coming off an excellent 2017 racing season despite a ton of rainouts and is looking forward to another successful season at Accord. Seven divisions of racing will greet the fans on Friday evening with the Insinger Fuels sponsored Modifieds, Arkel Motors Sportsman, Upstate Auto Pure Stocks, WRWD Radio Rookie Sportsman and WRWD Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars and the Emmanuel's Marketplace Fireball and Jr Fireball Four Cylinder divisions. Much interest has centered around the fledgling sprint car series as the division was introduced three seasons ago and has gained considerable attention for drivers who are seeking their entry into open wheel competition but doing so in an affordable manner.
Drivers will utilize the division as a stepping stone into their racing future and one such driver is "The Traveling Man" Mick D'Agostino as the young man from Taunton, Massachusetts comes off a stellar season in which he captured the JPA Masonry sponsored 600 Sprint championship at the Hamlin Speedway. He will deal with "The High Side Hustler" Eric Jennings who reigns as the current champion of the division as well as Doylestown, Pennsylvania hot shoe Heidi Hedin. "White Lightning" Larry McVay from Bordentown, New Jersey, "Captain Quick" Jeremy Quick, Rookie of the year Bobby Tersillo and many more who are joining the open wheel ranks.
The all-important task of manicuring and grooming of the raceway track surface and grounds falls into the very capable hands of Promoter Gary Palmer. Palmer spent a tremendous amount of time over the winter months to improve the facility and basically balance the speedway surface all around to give all of the competitors an equal surface to race on. Fresh paint and newly landscaped parking areas will greet the drivers and fans as they make their way onto the speedway grounds. New lights have been added to the pit area and new lighting in on the list of new things slated for the speedway.
The 2018 Memberships, Parking Permits and Season and Indoor Seating Tickets are available. The culinary talents of the Accord Speedway Chefs will once again be offering some relishing new entrees to the menu as specialty items for the fans as the speedway concession staff offers up an abundant variety of hand-crafted sandwiches and some of the finest race track cuisine in the entire country.
With all of the division champions returning to defend their crowns, the action will be hot and heavy as soon as the first green flag drops.
Racing is on tap every Friday night from April through September. Pit Gates open at 5:00; Spectator Gates open at 5:30; Hot Laps are at 7:00 and the racing begins at 7:30 PM. The Palmer Family in keeping true to their racing fans will show no increase in admission at the gate with admission for Adults $14.00; Seniors $12.00 (65+); Children $3.00 (11+ under) Indoor Seating $20.00; Family four pack special: 2 Adults + 2 Children and $20.00 in Food Vouchers for $44.00 (a savings of $10.00). Special Shows will have an increase in admission prices.

POINT BATTLES KICK OFF FOR ALL THREE DIVISIONS OF STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY, APRIL 21ST
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 17, 2018 . . . When NASCAR stock car racing gets the green flag at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 21st, two 10-time champions, Craig VonDohren and Jeff Strunk, will be trying to be the first to reach 11 championships. VonDohren has earned the T.P.Trailers 358 Modified championships the last three years and his strong third place effort in the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial last Saturday showed that he is ready for another strong season, perhaps a fourth straight title.
However Jeff Strunk is also looking for a strong season as he goes after his 11th title and first since 2014. Duane Howard, another talented veteran, is a five time champion and will be seeking his sixth title, last one won in 2012, during the 2018 season.
Make no mistake though it will not be all about VonDohren, Strunk and Howard as the season gets underway with many young talents setting their sights on the lucrative title. Grandview Speedway is one of very few tracks, perhaps the only track, in the nation that affords racer the opportunity to win two titles, the NASCAR and track championships.
The Saturday card of racing, a tripleheader with a 7 p.m. starting time, will feature the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Sportsman and Late Model stock cars battling for championship points. An extra added attraction for Saturday is the first 2018 appearance of the Blast from the Past Vintage Car racers with no increase in the regular admission price.
A full slate of qualifying events will lead up to the exciting feature events in each NASCAR division of racing.
Admission for Saturday night is $15 for adults and youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m.
When the racing ends each night fans are invited to head back to the pit area to see the race cars up close, take pictures and collect autographs.
Grandview Speedway is known for their excellent well-stocked concession areas and there is a great novelty stand that offers souvenirs, t-shirts, hats and more along with copies of the latest edition of the track magazine, The Inside Groove.
The one-third-mile, banked clay track, offering clear views of all the action from each seat, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For up-to-date information check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com or Facebook. The track office telephone number is 610.754.7688.

PAUCH IS VICTORIOUS AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY'S 2018 SEASON OPENER
New Egypt, NJ (April 15, 2018) - On Opening Night at New Egypt Speedway,
presented by Oliver Communications Group, Billy Pauch, Jr. was victorious in
the extra distance 40-lap Modified feature. Pat Wall topped the field in the
Hammer Sportsman race. The Street Stock feature was won by Bill Liedtka.
Ryan Heim took the checkered flag in the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie
contest.
As the 40-lap double point Modified feature got underway, polesitter Steve
Davis sped to the front with JR Fulper and Billy Pauch, Jr. next in line.
With three tours completed, Pauch, Jr. had motored into second with Brandon
Grosso advancing to third. On lap four, Pauch, Jr. was just about to take
command of the race when the yellow flag waved for Brian Papiez. On the
ensuing restart, Pauch, Jr. used the outside groove to drive by Davis and
into the lead. After several caution periods and ten circuits in the books,
Pauch, Jr. was still in control with Danny Bouc, Grosso, Dominick Buffalino,
Jimmy Horton and Davis in tow. Due to the total amount of circuits under
green and yellow flag conditions, a fuel stop took place at lap seventeen
with Pauch, Jr., Grosso, Bouc, David VanHorn and Kevin Vaclavicek in the top
five positions. When racing got back underway, Pauch, Jr. retained his edge
with Grosso holding onto second and VanHorn zipping into third. While
cleanup of a lap eighteen multi-car tangle was occurring, Grosso went
pitside and relinquished second place to VanHorn. Pauch, Jr. repelled a
strong bid by Van Horn for the top running spot as action resumed. By the
twenty-fifth tour, Pauch, Jr. was beginning to pull away from the pack with
Bouc in second and VanHorn in third. As the leader was approaching the back
of the field and with only six circuits remaining, the yellow lights
illuminated for a slowing Ryan Krachun. On the ensuing restart, Pauch, Jr.
kept his lead with Bouc and VanHorn trying to track him down. Over the final
laps, several minor incidents brought out the yellow flag including the
final caution of the contest with one circuit to go. During this period, the
second place running Bouc went to the pits with a right rear flat. On the
last lap shootout, Pauch, Jr., the 2017 division champion, held off VanHorn
to earn the win. With VanHorn taking second, Modified rookie TJ Lilly
finished in third place. Grosso rebounded to take fourth and Vaclavicek's
strong performance earned him a fifth place finish. The Modified heat
winners were Steve Davis, David VanHorn and Brandon Grosso. PJ Oliver was
the victor in the consolation race.
In the 20-lap Hammer Sportsman feature, Pat Wall took the lead from Bill
Liedtka on the eighth circuit and paced the field for the remaining distance
to score his fifth career victory. Bob Lineman, Jr., who chased Wall over
the final half of the race, was the runner-up. Cale Ross drove up from his
twelfth place starting spot to come home in third. Billy Osmun, the 2017
Hammer Sportsman champion, completed the race in fourth while Kyle Kania
finished in fifth. David Burns, Cale Ross and Pat Wall won the qualify
events for the Hammer Sportsman. The consolation race winner was Shaun
Ratchford.
Bill Liedtka, the 2017 Street Stock Champion, opened up the defense of his
title by taking the 15-lap Street Stock feature. Jimmy Avery came home in
second. Third place was grabbed by Lee Allen. Jon Meyer and Mick Search
rounded out the top five.
In the 8-lap Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie feature, Ryan Heim led
every step of the way to record the win. Sam Martz, Jr charged from his
sixth starting spot to claim the runner-up spot. Third went to Bobby
Holzwarth. Eric Conk finished fourth and fifth was taken by Kevin Borden,
Jr.
Due to a curfew, the Mid Atlantic Sprint Series and 4-Cylinder feature
events were postponed and will be completed at a future date. The
Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series heat races were claimed by Jeff Geiges, Mark
Bitner, Ryan Stillwagon and Austin Bishop. Logan Diehl took the checkered
flag in the consolation event.

Rookie Sportsman in competition. Pit gates unlock at 3:00 p.m. with the
