KRAUSE AND HOPKINSON TAKE WALL MODIFIED WINS
Posted by: | Comments
Wall Stadium
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. September 3, 2016 – With a majority of those on the speedway grounds keeping an eye on the weather due to the impending forecast of a tropical storm Andrew Krause of Holmdel and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River kept their eyes on the track to win Downs Ford Modified main events on Saturday night at Wall Stadium Speedway. Krause’s win was his third of the campaign while Hopkinson won his first main event of the year.
In the first Modified 40-lapper, rain postponed from July 30, Brick’s Ron Frees jumped to the lead at the outset with Krause soon riding his bumper. On lap five Krause dove to the inside lane on the backstretch, took the lead and was never headed.
In a race that was slowed only once for a spin on lap 27 by Toms River’s Jonathan Mandato, Krause stretched an advantage at times with Frees behind him all the way. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls was third with defending champion Steven Reed of Jackson, who passed several cars during the race, fourth. Kenny Matlach of New Hyde Park, N.Y. was fifth.
“We’ve had our share of trouble so this win feels real good,” Krause said referring to a motor problem that knocked him from winning contention one week earlier. My family, my friends and my sponsors never let me down.”
The regularly scheduled Modified 40-lapper went non-stop with Hopkinson leading all the way. Matlach chased him before settling for second with multi-time champ Chas Okerson finishing third. Reed, riding in the outside lane, wrestled with Carrig for several laps before nailing down fourth. Carrig was fifth.
“We’ve had a lot of trouble trying to get this car under us so it was real nice when it was almost perfect for this race,” Hopkinson said. “It can be a bit of a workout going 40-laps non-stop but I didn’t want to see a caution to tighten up the pack.”
Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan won his second main event of the year in the companion 30-lapper for the Snap On Sportsman cars. Van Wickle took the lead a third of the way in from eventual runner-up Jarret DiGiantomasso. Kevin Davison of Howell, Jackson’s Blake Barney and Brick’s Robert Sutphin were third through fifth. Ricky Collins of Willow Grove, Pa., the point leader going into the test, was involved in an early wreck and finished 18th.
Defending O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock champ Joe Mongeau of Brick slipped into the lead on the final stretch to win his second 25-lapper of the year. Early leader Joey Helberg of Union was second followed by Eatontown’s Ron Booth, Gerry Koenig of Seaford, N.Y. and Manchester’s Scott Riggleman.
Point race leader Louie Keraitis of Toms River won his third Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars 25-lapper fighting off defending champion Robert French of Howell in the closing laps. Vinny Troia of Browns Mills, Nick Van Wickle of Edgewater Park and Ron Merlino of Pine Beach wrapped up the top five.
Brick’s Ronnie Mullen raced to his second win of the year in the 25-lapper for the Surf Side Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks. Early leader Jason Lane of Brick was second with Beachwood’s Todd Pilla, Fred Cannock of Port Monmouth and Howell’s Brian Osborn completing the top five.
Stock car racing continues this Saturday night (Sept. 10) with “Pack the Track” night action. Adults will be admitted for just $10 while students aged 7 to 17 are just $5. Children six and under are always free. On the track the Factory Stocks will race in three 25-lap main events and a “Dash for Cash.” The Sportsman cars will compete in a 30-lapper while the 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Legend Cars will battle in 25-lappers. A championship Demolition Derby will also be presented. Grandstand seating opens at 5:00 p.m., qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. and feature racing begins at 7:00 p.m.
The complete updated regular season schedule, which runs on Saturday nights through October 1, is available at wallspeedwayracing.com as are the rules and regulations for all divisions. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” on October 15 and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned.

MANMILLER, TODOROW AND PAPIEZ WIN WNPV-1440AM RADIO NIGHT FEATURES ON SATURDAY
VONDOHREN, SCHUTZ AND HENN CROWNED POINT CHAMPIONS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. SEPTEMBER 4, 2016 . . . Popular veteran racer Doug Manmiller has been grinding all year long in the T.P. Trailers 358 Modified class at Grandview Speedway. He lost his ride with the Dave Zubikowski No. 00 mid-season, then debuted his own mount and still struggled. He finally teamed up with Jason and Theresa Miller and after that things began to gel for the new team. Shut out of victory lane since August 30, 2014, the Shoemakersville, PA talent finally got the monkey off his back Saturday night. He was in fourth on the 22nd lap, shot past Ryan Grim and John Willman and proceeded to dive between a lapped car and underneath leader Justin Grim to take over the lead on the 23rd lap. He kept everyone at bay behind him the remainder of the race to win his first 30-lap Modified feature of the season behind the wheel of the Lee Miller Auto Sales No. 44M, in the event sponsored by WNPV-1440 AM radio. He also collected $250 from T.P. Trailers plus $150 in VP products for running gas.
Steve Todorow took over the driving reigns of the No. 93 NASCAR Late Model normally chauffeured by his dad Rick at mid-season. The team had their share of ups and downs, but he finally had Lady Luck on his side and was able to hold off five-time feature winner and two-time point champion Brian Shuey to win his first-ever career 25-lap BRC Late Model feature and pick up an additional $100 from T.P. Trailers.
It was Brian Papiez at the head of the pack for his fourth NASCAR 25-lap Sportsman feature win as he took the lead from Paul Kline and then held off the challenges of Mike Lisowski for the triumph in which he collected an additional $100 from T.P. Trailers.
The biggest winners of the evening were the three newly crowned 2016 Point Champions. Craig VonDohren won his ninth NASCAR T.P. Trailers Modified title with 4509 points over runner-up Mike Gular. It was championship No. 8 for Chuck Schutz in the BRC NASCAR Late Model division who finished with 3683 points ahead of Wayne Pfeil. In the NASCAR Sportsman class Jordan Henn captured his first champion with 3078 points over runner-up Mike Lisowski.
The season was one of the most competitive in years at the Bechtelsville, PA oval with 26 different drivers winning features.
Coming up on Friday, September 9th, 7 p.m. the TSRS 305 Sprints along with the Sportsman stock cars in a doubleheader show topped by a 38-lap feature for the Sportsman. Modifieds will also be allowed practice time.
And on Saturday, September 10th, 7 p.m. the biggest event of the season takes place with the running of the $25,000 to win 46th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic featuring many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing.
It took several cautions before the Modifieds could string consecutive green flag laps together, but once they did Justin Grim was leading the 28-car starting grid trailed by John Willman, Kory Fleming, Ryan Grim and Ray Swinehart.
Manmiller joined the thick of the battle as he advanced into fourth on the fifth circuit.
Lap-after-lap the order continued to be J. Grim, Willman, R. Grim, Manmiller and Swinehart with neither one giving an inch. Trying to break into the top five were Fleming and Frank Cozze.
By the 21st lap the slower-moving cars entered the picture and the front runners had to use heads up defensive driving.
As the head of the pack came out of turn four to complete lap 23, Manmiller made a very daring maneuver. He went from fourth past the others and then proceeded to shoot between the leader and a lap car to take control of first.
Cautions were needed once Manmiller was in front and positions behind him constantly changed, but he made sure he was always first as the laps clicked off at the drop of the checkered he claimed a well-deserved 24th career win. Chasing him across were R. Grim, Cozze, Willman and Jeff Strunk. Rounding out the top ten were last week’s feature winner Duane Howard, Kevin Hirthler, who started dead last; Kenny Gilmore, Mike Gular and Craig VonDohren.
Heats were won by Brett Kressley, Manmiller and R. Grim.
Steve Todorow set the pace for two laps in the Late Model feature before the red was thrown when Joe Fanelli hit the backstretch wall with heavy impact and almost flipped. He was uninjured, but the car was badly damaged. When action resumed Todorow was still in front behind chased by Shuey, Dan Green, Bill Henning and Schutz.
Green relinquished third on the fourth lap when he spun in the second turn for the fourth lap caution. It was still Todorow running the high lane being pressured by Shuey on the inside. Shuey made several advances, but to no avail and Todorow pulled away.
The lead never changed and Todorow was victorious being followed by Shuey, Henning, Schutz and Ron Kline.
Shuey and Todorow were the heat winners.
Rookie B.J. Joly led the first six laps of the Sportsman feature before a multi-car fourth turn accident brought out the yellow. On the restart Papiez charged into first while Joly, Jack Butler, Kline and Lisowski diced for second through fifth.
Derrick Smith slowed his pace along the homestretch for the ninth lap caution period. This time when action went green again Paul Kline stormed into the lead.
Papiez just regained the lead on the 15th lap when Dylan Swinehart slowed in turn four.
Kline, Lisowski, Henn and Ken Eckert Jr. jockeyed for positions while Papiez held onto first.
Lisowski took over second on the 18th lap restart which was needed when Brad Arnold broke along the backstretch. Lisowski made several bids for first, but was unsuccessful.
Papiez kept everyone at bay to collect another win in his Grandview rookie season at the drop of the checkered. Second went to Lisowski followed by Kline, Henn and Ryan Lilick.
Kyle Lilick, Ryan Higgs and Kenny Bock won the heats. The consolation went to Joe Funk III.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | CommentsAccord, NY- Danny Creeden Romps To OCFS Qualifier Victory At Accord Speedway
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The continued great wave of warm summer weather provided the proper backdrop for the mighty stars and cars of the Accord Speedway on Friday evening to do battle at the "Gem in the Catskills" racing facility. The normal quiet serenity of the Catskill Mountains gave way to the intoxicating sounds of hot rod racing action on Friday evening and a great crowd of eager racing fans came out to witness a great fireworks extravaganza and to see their racing heroes carve out a fabulous and entertaining seven division racing card at the speedway. When the final event was checkered, seven happy winners found their way to the Lucas Oil Products Victory Lane on an evening sponsored by Saugerties Lumber and the Orange County Fair Speedway, home of the Eastern States 200. The Checkered Flag Bonus was sponsored by Dreaming of the Mouse. www.dreamingofthemouse.com
In the United Pump and Tank Modified division, "The DC Express" Danny Creeden found all of the racing channels to his liking as he ran down early leader Ken Ferrier, took control of the point and romped to his fourth win of the season and in doing so claimed the qualifying spot for the prestigious 55th running of the Eastern States 200 to be held in Middletown, New York from October 21st to the 23rd. Olivia Johnson turned in another stellar performance as she tracked down early Gary Ronk and went on to capture her third win of the season in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock division. Jim Kraus had the hot ticket in the Ruge's GM Parts Rookie Sportsman finale as he captured his second win of the season. "Jammin" Jimmy Wells inherited the lead on the final lap, after a last turn skirmish ended Collin Dubois solid run for his first ever win, and Wells led only the final lap to claim win number ten in the Healey Brothers Group Sportsman feature main event. Larry Ricci continued to put the finishing touches on his return to racing action as he captured his second win of the season in the Ruge's Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car headliner. "The Hurricane" Hunter Lapp captured his eighth WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot division shoot out with a fabulous run and Samantha Muller was victorious in the Want AD Digest All Star Slingshot feature for her eighth win of the season.
Ken Ferrier and Ed Dachenhausen brought the solid field of United Pump and Tank Modifieds down for the start of the 30-lap headliner. "The KF Flyer" Ferrier seized the lead at the start with Brett Graham following. Danny Creeden made his presence known early on from his fourth starting position and began to seize the real estate in front of him. Creeden tracked down Ferrier and assumed command of the lead on lap five. From ninth starting spot came Mike Ricci. Ricci found the fresh real estate at any point of the race track and quickly made his way into the third slot but by that time the leaders were gone. Anthony Perrego made a late bid as he is the point leader with only one more race remaining. Creeden earned his fourth win of the season With Kenny Ferrier second, Ricci third, Perrego fourth and Scott Ferrier hustling hard to complete the top five. The second five consisted of Brett Graham, Donnie Elliott, Ed Dachenhausen, Jesse Marks and Danny Tyler.
The Healey Brothers Group Sportsman division headliner found Nick Plumstead finding the hot spot on the speedway and grabbing the lead at the start of the event with Collin DuBois making a statement to move into the runner-up slot. Plumstead led until lap-13 when he bobbled on a restart and DuBois charged by him along with the rest of the field. DuBois opened up a lead but Brandon McGill quickly closed in on him. McGill showed the beak of his race car numerous times but DuBois held off each challenge and with two to go led by two car lengths. McGill came back on the attack and as the white flag flew tried the bottom line but DuBois again held him off as they raced down the backstretch. As the pair got into turn three, McGill got into too hot and ran into the rear of DuBois car and spun him out and ending DuBois shot at his first career win in a full size car at Accord. Jimmy Wells, who was running third, inherited the lead and would lead the final lap to secure his tenth win of the season. "Double D" Dave Demorest was the runner-up in a solid performance while Joey Bruning, Aaron Doolittle and Milton Mann completed the top five. Chris Stevens headed up the second five with Nick Johnson, Phil Goetchius, Winter Mead and the returning Greg McCloskey rounding the top ten.
The Arkel Motors sponsored Pure Stock event got underway with Gary Ronk grabbing the lead at the start. Quickly, Travis Brockner found his way into the runner-up slot and began to mount a challenge for the lead. From seventh starting spot came Livy Johnson. Johnson was on the hammer from the drop of the green flag and set sail around the speedway picking up spots as she raced into contention. Slipping past Brockner for the runner-up role, Johnson reeled in Ronk and the pair battled with Johnson taking over the lead on lap nine. Johnson never looked back as she sped to her third win of the season. Brockner was a solid second with Bob Sleight, Steve Williams and the returning John Woinoski completing the top five. Harry Bachman, newcomers Austin Smith and Scott McCarthy and Jim Smith rounded out the top ten.
Jim Kraus was shot out a cannon at the start of the Ruge's GM Parts Rookie Sportsman feature event. Matt Shultz and Brad Horton kept pace with Kraus and by the halfway mark Jason Feinberg would move into the mix. Kraus was on a mission and he completed it by earning his second win of the season. Shultz, Feinberg, Horton and Tighe Sherlock would complete the top five. Ryan McCartney, newcomer Anthony Recchio, John DeWitt and another newcomer Michael Corbin completed the field.
Larry Ricci powered into the lead at the start of the Ruge's Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car feature. Jesse James Bartelson challenged early on but problems would put him on the sidelines by the midway point of the event. Ricci would race to his second win of the season with Eric Jennings in the runner-up slot.
The WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot event found Hunter Lapp getting turned around at the start of the event. Lapp would go to the rear of the field and then began a great comeback. In the meantime, John Kendall led through lap nine when "The Cold Spring Kid" Jake Mason would race by him for the lead. Mason would lead for three laps but once again it would Hunter Lapp knocking on the door. Lapp would slip past Mason on lap thirteen and roll to his eighth win of the season. Mason would finish in the runner-up slot with Michael Corbin third and John Kendall fourth and Ashton DeWitt and Jaden Sleight following.
In the Want Ad Digest All Star Slingshot event, Samantha Muller returned to the speedway after missing a couple of weeks and raced to her eight win of the season.
GEMSTONES:
Through the determined efforts of Promoter Gary Palmer, the speedway was in good racing condition and the many racing channels provided the drivers a wall to wall track surface to race on. The close side by side racing action that Accord is well noted for kept the fans on the edge of their seats all night long.
Many, many thanks to the good folks at Saugerties Lumber for sponsoring the over the top fireworks extravaganza presented by Santore's Famous Fireworks. Just as in the Dire Straits song, they did turn the night time into the day. Also special thanks to DJ Tim Adams for a great song selection during the fireworks show.
Pure Stock heats went to Steve Williams and Gary Ronk. Modified preliminaries were captured by Ed Dachenhausen, Brett Graham and Ken Ferrier. Joey Bruning and Nick Plumstead captured the Sportsman heats while Larry Ricci claimed the Sprint Car heat event. Rookie Sportsman heats went to Tighe Sherlock and Jason Feinberg. The All Star Slingshot heat went to Samantha Muller while Hunter Lapp claimed the Junior Slingshot heat.
Many new faces arrived last night for their first Accord start as Tim Hindley shook down the back-up Creeden mount. Ray See Jr returned to the speedway with a great looking Modified but scratched from the feature. Aaron Doolittle was in the second Davis owned racer and did a good job bringing it to a solid top five finish. "Iron" Mike Butler was up from New Jersey in his Short Load Concrete sponsored mount. Two Slingshot drivers, Anthony Recchio and Michael Corbin took their first ever rides in the full size cars and both did well in their first efforts. It is a big step to go from a two cylinder Slingshot to an eight cylinder full size hot rod. Kudos to both drivers. Scott McCarthy drove the second Ronk car while Ryan Brockner drove the back-up racer for his brother. Austin Smith was another first timer in the Pure Stocks.
Upstate Auto owners Marty and Debbie donated four bicycles for the evening and winners included, Maddy Gadds, Elliot Wesneski, Kaelyn Smith and Mason Wright. Michael Castellano won the Boy's Back Pack and the Girl's Back Pack was won by Olivia Wesneski.
The evening was also a fundraiser for the Sparrow's Nest Charity and many gifts were part of the on going raffle and the speedway staff would like to thank Texas Roadhouse, Autozone of Kingston, Accord Speedway, Hannah Nicole Photography, Uptown Face Studio and LuLaRoe for their participation.
The speedway would also like to thank Michael Hatzistergos for the Balloon Sculpturing, the volunteers for the face painting and Rich Roosa for the use of his tractor for the hayrides.
The Chicken BBQ was a hit as usual as were the Pulled Pork Sandwiches prepared by the great kitchen staff. Thanks to John Liggan Insurance, Wright Farm Market, Sunday Rosendale Farmers Market and Cousin Pete Donohue for the great Grandma Ann's pies that were dispersed to the feature winners.
"Uncle Mike" Hansen from WRWD Radio was on board for the evening and after interviewing with announcer Steve Pados had the WRWD Radio Truck as the pace truck for the evening. Mike will be back at the speedway on September 9th.
The Hudson Valley Historic Racing Committee was on board and they brought in an old roadster from the early days of racing. Preserving the history of racing is important to everyone so please support these organizations.
The speedway will offer a special dedication on the anniversary of 9/11 next week on September 9th as all police, firefighters, correction officers and EMT's will be admitted to the speedway free with their department ID. Taylor Rental and Handsome Devil BBQ will be the co-headline sponsors for the event highlighting the night of champions at the speedway.
The new Accord Speedway T-shirts have arrived and are on sale at $10.00 each with plus sizes being $2.00 more.
A super amount of interest is already in place for the upcoming King of the Catskills weekend at the speedway. With some very big dollars in place, a banner field is anticipated. More information will be released as the countdown is coming quickly.

Sheppard Scores $17,500 Victory at Lebanon Valley
Captures his first Mr. Dirt Track USA 100
WEST LEBANON, N.Y - Sept. 1, 2016 - Matt Sheppard made a late race charge by Kenny Tremont Jr. and set his No. 9s machine on cruise control at Lebanon Valley Speedway for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Mr. Dirt Track USA 100.
After Sheppard took a wild ride at Canandaigua on Saturday totaling his car, his team was able to regroup in no time to take the checkers Thursday night and capture the $17,500 victory. "I can't thank enough people. Bicknell practically built this racecar in a day; the lettering guy lettered it the day we picked it up. Every one of the manufacturers stepped right out," Sheppard said. "This thing didn't miss a beat tonight. This is what championships are made of. It was a big turning point from Saturday to tonight. Our season could have gone down hill in a hurry but instead we're sitting here in victory lane at Lebanon Valley."
The Valley's regulars, Tremont Jr. and Keith Flach started the 32-car field to the initial green. Tremont jumped out early to a sizable lead.
Tremont caught the back of the field on lap 21. Tremont was no stranger to lap traffic as he worked his way through pulling away from Flach and Brett Hearn.
Hearn slowly worked his way on the bottom through lapped traffic and started knocking on the rear bumper of Flach patiently waiting to make his move for that second spot.
Tremont was slicing and dicing his way through lap traffic until the halfway mark when Flach and Hearn started closing in.
Tremont lead the way at the halfway mark over Flach, Hearn, Friesen and Matt Sheppard.
Hearn used the bottom groove and drove by Flach for the second spot then chased Tremont down as he started knocking on his doors on lap 52.
Just as things were heating up the second yellow flag of the night was brought out for a slow moving Jimmy Horton on lap 54.
Tremont was running the topside as Hearn patiently hugged the bottom of the track hoping to make ground on him.
Sheppard moved into the fourth spot over Friesen then drove under Flach and pulled away in third on lap 65.
Tremont, Hearn and Sheppard were in their own league as they pulled away from the field, catching lap traffic on lap 75.
Hearn then moved to the top to maneuver through lap traffic, opening the door for Sheppard to drive under him on lap 84 advancing Sheppard into the second spot.
Friesen passed Flach on the bottom coming out of turn four for the third spot on lap 85.
Sheppard was able to complete the pass as he dove to the bottom in turn three, slid to the top coming out of four, worked his way around a lapped car and took the lead on lap 89.
The third yellow of the night was brought out on lap 90 due to a slow moving fourth place runner Hearn with a right rear flat.
The final restart of the night saw the field restart single file as Sheppard set his car on cruise control as he pulled away with half a straightaway lead over Tremont. On that restart Friesen worked his way on the bottom for a couple of laps and was able to slide by Tremont for the second spot with just two laps to go. It was all Sheppard as he sailed his way to his first ever Mr. Dirt Track USA victory.
"The car was phenomenal on the long runs. It was a little tight on the short runs. I'd lose the nose a little while and lose a little bit of ground. It just seemed like I could just drive it in straight and rotate the bottom. This motor really pulled up off the corners. I just can't thank everyone enough," Sheppard said in victory lane. "Long time car owner, Jeff Bruneau, he's in the hospital right now. There's no bigger win he would have loved than this one right here. We're praying for him. I'm sure he would have loved this one."
Sixth place starter Friesen looked to make a repeat of last year but fell one spot short.
"It was good tonight. The Halmar team has worked really hard all season. We have great racecar's and a great engine. We just didn't make the right adjustments for the feature. We had a good long run car but the short runs we were getting beaten up pretty good. I'm proud of my guys to finish second to Sheppard. That's nothing really to complain about. We'll work a little bit harder and come back out again on Monday."
Lebanon Valley's regular Kenny Tremont Jr. led all but the final twelve laps of the feature rounding himself off with a third place finish.
"This is such a good team. They did a great job tonight. We just used the right rear tire up and towards the end there we were just hanging on. I'm really pleased with how the car went, maybe a little bit harder tire compound would have helped us."
Races Notes: 38 modifieds attempted to qualify. 32 cars started in the A-main. Only three cautions were brought out during the feature on lap 8, 54 and 90. Tremont lead 88 of 100 laps. Fast timer in time trials was Brett Hearn with a 19.236.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 29, 2016 . . . The banquet scheduled for November 19th celebrating the 54th anniversary of Grandview Speedway has been canceled.
As most are aware track promoter Bruce Rogers suffered serious injuries as a result of an auto accident in Daytona Beach, Florida back in January. After a long stay in the hospital Rogers is now at home and does need constant care as he continues his recovery.
With that in mind, knowing the amount of time and effort needed to prepare for the annual banquet, the Rogers family has decided it is best for Bruce and the family to take a year off from presenting a banquet.
“It just would not be the same without him (Bruce) being there,” said track spokesperson Tina Rogers. “The banquet has always been a highlight of each year for my dad so if he can’t be there we will hold off on banquets until he can be part of it.”
Point fund checks from the track will be sent in November and NASCAR will send their point fund checks, as usual, in December.
“We appreciate the understanding of the situation by all involved with the racing at Grandview,” Tina continued. “We will be looking forward to the 55th anniversary banquet and my father being part of it.”

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Posted by: | Comments"Iron" Mike Ricci Dominates Field For Second Triumph Of The Season At Accord Speedway
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Accord, NY- Another hot summer day in the Catskill Mountains that found the temperature soaring to ninety degrees and the sights and sounds of good racing action brought out a great crowd to the Accord Speedway as the Palmer Family offered up seven divisions of racing at their Ulster County speedplant on Friday evening. The racing action on the speedway was phenomenal as once again the on track performances allowed the cream to rise to the top and allow the victors the spoils of victory in the Lucas Oil Products Victory Lane. The evening of speed was sponsored by the good folks at Tom's Repair Shop located in New Paltz, New York. The racing show was presented without a hitch and completed at 10:58 PM. The checkered flag bonus was supplied by ASI Trophies located in Accord, New York
When all was said and done, "Iron" Mike Ricci rebounded from a hard crash one week ago to drive his Halmar International/Backwoods Blends/Direct Fleet Service sponsored hot rod to his second win of the season as he completely dominated the action on his way to the win in the United Pump and Tank Modified headliner. "Jammin" Jimmy Wells left nothing to chance as he put forth a great drive to capture his ninth win of the season in the Healey Brothers Group Sportsman headliner. The Ruge's Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car feature found Doylestown, Pennsylvania's Heidi Hedin making her long trip worthwhile as she captured her second win of the season. Tim Southard scored his first win of the season as he wired the field in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock Division feature. The WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot feature found "The Hurricane" Hunter Lapp racing to his seventh win of the season. In the Ruge's GM Parts Center Rookie Sportsman finale, Chris Van Duser scored his first career win at Accord as he led from start to finish. Bobby Hassenmayer scored the win in the Want Ad Digest feature.
With the season funneling down quickly in the 2016 racing season, some of the point's battles are still very much alive and will reach a fever pitch in the next couple of weeks. The final weeks of the season are the final building blocks to the track championship as all of the drivers will have to be at their best should they have aspirations to wear a speedway crown in 2016. The night of champions at the speedway is scheduled for September 9th on Taylor Rental and Handsome Devil BBQ Night at the speedway.
The United Pump and Tank Modified event was a crowd teaser and pleaser as Brett Graham hustled out front to lead the first seven laps. Last week's feature winner "Showtime" Danny Tyler flexed his muscles and took over the lead on lap eight and would lead until lap ten when Graham came roaring back and took over the lead for the second time in the event. From seventh starting spot came Mike Ricci and he worked every seam and racing channel he could find and reeled in Graham. Ricci was able to slip past Graham on lap fourteen and from that point on Ricci was on cruise control. Anthony Perrego started ninth and hustled through the field and into second place on lap nineteen but by that time Ricci had built up a tremendous lead. Ricci would earn his second win of the season with Perrego in second. Danny Tyler put in a great run for third while Graham was fourth and Brad Rothaupt raced to fifth. five. Jesse Marks, Corey Lowitt, Scott Ferrier, Ken Ferrier and Joe Judge completed the top ten.
Brandon McGill led the first lap of the Healey Brothers Group Sportsman event and gave way to the high flying Jimmy Wells on lap two. Wells, who has owned the division in 2016, quickly raced out front and built up a huge lead with McGill chasing him around the speedway. Pockets of good, solid racing action would follow for the remainder of the event but the attrition rate would be high in the event as one by one a skirmish here and there throughout the race would send some drivers to the sidelines. It would be Wells leading all of the way for his ninth win with McGill in the runner-up role. The battle for third was a barn-burner all of the way with Phil Goetchius earning the slot while Chris Stevens raced to fourth and Connor Otten would complete the top five. A great run from Winter Mead found her heading up the second five with Corey Cormier, Kevin Ward, Ralph Ronk and Nick Johnson rounding out the field.
The Ruge's Performance Center NEWS Sprint Car encounter found Heidi Hedin hustling out front at the start of the feature and would hold the field at bay to garner her second triumph of the season at Accord. Andrew Davis finished second with the point leader Jesse James Bartelson third. Eric Jennings was contending early in the sprint car feature but would meet with the unforgiving boiler plate to end his evening. Jennings was unhurt in the crash.
Tim Southard hustled to the front in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock division feature event. Southard would feel pressure from Steve Williams early on but maintained his poise and remained at the point with Williams and point leader Bob Sleight close behind. Williams made a few late race attempts to slip past Southard but to no avail as Southard would gain his first win of the season at the speedway. Williams was second with Sleight third, Livy Johnson fourth and the veteran Harry Bachman fifth. Steve Kanuk, Jim Smith and Gary Ronk would complete the finishers.
Chris Van Duser had been running strong in recent weeks and picked a good night to grab up the lead on the first lap and would lead the rest of the way to secure his first ever win at the speedway. Jim Kraus put in a good run for runner-up honors while Matt Shultz was third, Jason Feinberg fourth and Ryan McCartney completing the top five. Mike DuBois Jr, Jake Granacker and Sarah Smith would complete the field.
The Want Ad Digest All Star Slingshot feature found Bobby Hassenmayer the lone entry and he would capture his first ever win at the speedway.
Hunter Lapp grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the WRWD Radio Junior Slingshot feature and that would be the pass he needed as he drove away from his competition to secure his seventh win of the season. Point leader John Kendall was second and Michael Corbin was third.
GEMSTONES:
New drivers that made their first appearances of the season included Bobby Hassenmayer in the All Star Slingshots. Ed Dachenhausen brought back to the speedway the car that he wrecked so badly on the front stretch a couple of months ago. The car was unlettered but a really sharp looking racer. Some drivers had a tough night as a few cars could not make it out for their respective feature events and some skirmishes kept the two truck busy during the evening.
Heat race wins went to Chris Van Duser and Matt Shultz in the Rookie Sportsman ranks. Connor Otten, Brandon McGill and Jimmy Wells claimed wins in the Sportsman heats. The Modifieds had three heat events with Brett Graham, Danny Tyler and Brad Rothaupt claiming the wins. Travis Brockner and Steve Williams grabbed up the wins in the Pure Stock encounters. Hunter Lapp captured the heat race win in the Junior Slingshot division and Bobby Hassenmayer won the All Star Slingshot heat. Heidi Hedin made it a clean sweep as she was victorious in the Sprint Car preliminary.
Speedway announcer Steve Pados went trackside to announce the starting line-up for the Sportsman feature that also included the tennis ball throw. All but one driver managed to clear the safety fencing but needless to say, no major league scouts opted on to the speedway grounds to see if they had the right stuff, even though there were rumors to that effect.
Special thanks to race director Dave Rocket for keeping the show moving quickly throughout the evening.
Kingston Nissan had their Festival of Zeroes promotion on hand at the speedway as they prepare to raffle off a new Nissan automobile and they will be back at the track this coming Friday.

JERSEY RUSH VI RESULTS
HODNETT AND GODOWN CLAIM JERSEY RUSH VI VICTORIES TUESDAY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
NEW EGYPT, NJ (August 23, 2016) – Greg Hodnett of Thomasville, PA and Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ felt the RUSH of victory at New Egypt Speedway this past Tuesday Night, as NAPA Auto Parts and Pioneer Pole Building presented JERSEY RUSH VI – a thrilling doubleheader of racing action featuring the 410 Sprint Cars and a Big-Block vs. Small-Block Modified Challenge.

Davey Sammons (WoS photo)
Davey Sammons of Burlington, NJ selected the first starting position in a blind draw by the top qualifiers with Hodnett starting on the outside of the front row. Hodnett shot to the top spot on the first circuit with Sammons, and Ryan Smith pulling away from the remainder of the field.
The action slowed for the first time on lap 3 for Ryan Godown – the only competitor to compete in both the 410 Sprint and Modified Jersey Rush feature events.
The line-up remained unchanged after the single-file restart with Hodnett leading Sammons and Smith. With the race leaders setting a rapid pace, all eyes were on the fourth position where Kevin Nagy, Lucas Wolfe, and Kyle Reinhardt battled three-wide.
Hodnett weaved in-and-out of lapped traffic on the seventh circuit as Sammons closed on the race leader.
The red flag flew on lap ten as Mechanicsburg, PA’s Lucas Wolfe got the Allebach Racing No. 5w upside down while running fifth.

Greg Hodnett (WoS photo)
Hodnett remained in control on the restart with Sammons and Smith in tow. Kyle Reinhardt made a bold move to claim the fourth position, taking the McClaren Motorsports No. 21 three-wide to take the spot.
The Lealands.com No. 27 machine of Hodnett was well in control when the action slowed for the final time on lap 21.
It was all Hodnett on the restart coasting around lapped traffic and claiming the $5,000 Jersey Rush VI top prize. Tuesday's event marks Hodnett’s second consecutive Jersey Rush victory.
Sammons finished a strong second as Ryan Smith came home in the third spot, recovering from a wild ride at this event in 2015; JJ Grasso finished in fourth, after a late race charge; and Kyle Reinhardt finished in the fifth position.

Ryan Godown (WoS photo)
“The Ringoes Rocket” Ryan Godown claimed his third New Egypt Speedway Modified victory of the season after starting on the outside of the first row. Bechtelsville, PA’s Jeff Strunk led his No. 126 machine to the initial green flag, leading the early portion of the event.
Strunk held off challenges from track regulars including Godown, Dominick Buffalino, and Billy Pauch. But ultimately it was Godown claiming the top spot at the 8th circuit around the Ocean County d-shaped dirt track.
The yellow flag slowed the action on lap 17 for Chris Grbac who slowed and eventually stopped outside turn two.
Strunk overtook the top spot on the restart before another caution flew high above New Egypt Speedway. While under yellow flag conditions, New Egypt Speedway officials docked Strunk two positions for jumping the earlier restart.
Godown inherited the lead with Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch running in the second position and Dominick Buffalino in third.
The action slowed on lap 21 for a multi-car tangle in the fourth turn.
Godown took control on the restart and sailed to victory holding off all-time New Egypt Speedway Modified feature winner Billy Pauch. Jeff Strunk rebounded for a third place finish; Dominick Buffalino finished in fourth, and Billy Pauch Jr. charged from the 24th starting position to finish in the top five.
Greg Hodnett claimed the CnB Chubby Quick Time Award with a lap of 14.139.
Collecting $200 in the Oliver Communications Group 410 Sprint Car Heat Races was Kevin Nagy and Joe Kata. Kata also collected $300 for winning the Oliver Communications Dash for Cash. Modified Heat Races were won by John McClelland, Billy Pauch, and Frank Cozze – all of which collected $200 from Oliver Communications Group.
JJ Grasso won the Thayer Performance Burning Rubber Bonus Hard Charger Award picking up a free right rear Hoosier Racing Tire courtesy of Thayer Performance.
Art Leidl was awarded a $300 bonus for being the highest finishing 360 Sprint Car.
Jersey Rush VI is a co-promotion between Lenny, Danny and Davey Sammons, along with special events promoter, Bob Miller.
